Nice hotel on beach with surfers and kids wading. I chose this to be close to SFO airport, avoid most rush hour traffic and see the ocean. Nice, not great. Free breakfast buffet included hot eggs, bacon, great rolls and the standards. I would stay here again.

Remember to open the windows to better hear the surf from the beach. The hotel is nicely located in an out of the way area but it's still only a 15 min drive to downtown. We enjoyed our stay and recommend this place.

The service was very good, cheerful and quick. The amenities were good, rooms clean. And Rockaway Beach is charming, central to most sights and events in the Bay area, including the airport. You will need a car.

First time stay in Pacifica Holiday Inn & Express. Was disappointed that it is somewhat away from any family restaurants. There are two restaurants within walking distance to the hotel. While most people traveling to San Francisco want to stay downtown and pay huge hotel prices, we opted to stay closer to the ocean outside the city. Short of the comfort that a hotel like Sofitel would offer, this was the best hotel room my boyfriend and I had stayed in, by far. We had a wonderful view of the shore, the fireplace and couch in the room made the experience super cosy, and the hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The furniture was brand new (they seem to have updated it […] after just a few years of usage of the old one), and the only thing that could have been more perfect would have been a less sugary breakfast and better weather - the latter of which certainly is not the hotel's fault. The hotel might have a lower star rating because there is no gym (who needs a gym at the Sea next to plenty of walking and biking paths), there are no conference facilities (again, who needs to work when vacationing at the Sea), and there is no restaurant in the hotel (but there are plenty of restaurants in walking distance, and all of them deliver to your room). Not wanting to pay incredibly high parking fees for San Francisco hotels, we decided to stay at the Pacifica. We were very impressed right from the start. The staff were very helpful and really friendly. WI-Fi is free (why do some places charge for this?) The whole hotel is spotlessly clean. Our room was large, quiet and with lots of hanging space. […] Parking is free and a great breakfast included. The location is just off the highway next to a sandy beach. We drove to the nearest BART station (10 minutes) and let the train take the strain ($6.30 return). The system worked well - all the details (and map) were given to us at reception - an example of how helpful everyone was. Would also suggest a visit to "A Grape in the Fog" bistro type place, just round the corner.
