"Super new and stylish Renovations"
10/19/14 Matthew V
My family had a wonderful vacation at this newly renovated Holiday Inn Express. The new carpets in hallways and room were very clean stylish. The rooms were spacious with all the amenities you need-microwave, fridge, coffee maker, plenty of outlets for charges. My wife definitely slept well knowing how clean and the new rooms were. We all loved the hot breakfast options every morning. Also the indoor pool was a great option for rainy/cooler days.
"Not the closest location to sights."

Being chosen to endure the high pressure sales attempt to sell us on Holidays vacation resorts meant we were Able to stay here for a great price. The room was a bit cramped but we did have a fridge and microwave. The fridge needed to be leveled so it ran constantly and nosily.the room was quiet and the shower hot. The breakfast management did a great job of keeping stuff hot and refilled promptly. As mentioned this hotel site is not located near much of the main sights however with GPS we easily found our way. Also the desk staff was helpful. Another benefit is a Walmart is located nearby.
"Nice and New"

The Holiday Inn Express in Lightfoot is still a pretty new hotel, so things generally look clean, everything works the way it’s supposed to, there aren’t any weird smells from decades past, etc., so that alone is a big selling point for this hotel. The staff was generally helpful and friendly. The hotel is very quiet. Rarely did I hear any noise from other guests, and the hotel is well off the highway so no noise from outside. The room was clean (again it helps a lot that the hotel is new), the shower had good pressure, the room included a microwave and refrigerator, and the bed was comfortable. The hotel is a little further from the tourist areas than most, but it’s very easy to get in and out, there is a gas station and convenience store next door, Walmart and a bunch of fast food places are around the corner, and the “tourist area” is about 15-20 minutes away. Surprisingly, I found it was easy to do real work in my room. I spent a few days working from my room, connected to my company’s intranet through the hotel wi-fi and taking conference calls on the phone. The wi-fi worked great (at least during the day when there were very few other guests around, I can’t speak to an evening in a full hotel). My internet response was as fast as at home. At first I was a little concerned about the phone, since it was on the night table not the desk, but the cord is long enough to stretch to the desk (once you get it unraveled). The phone has speaker and mute functions, and worked fine for conference calls without having to lift the handset. The breakfast was OK (and it’s free), and again the staff was very friendly, but I’ve seen fresher, nicer breakfasts at comparable hotels. The one thing that almost got me to switch was the room layout of my first room. The room had 2 beds (queens I think) and one of the beds was literally about 6 inches from the A/C vent, causing the A/C to turn off after about 5 minutes even when set to 62 degrees. While the little space next to the bed was cold, the rest of the room remained a balmy 85. By the next morning the room was finally getting comfortable, but this wouldn’t have been acceptable to me for very long. The next night I switched to a King room, which gave me a good 8 feet of clearance in front of the A/C vents and the problem was solved.

My Husband and I traveled to Williamsburg on August 21, 2014 and stayed until August 25 for a short vacation. Vassy, Chelsea, and Angelique were so kind and helpful. They helped in suggesting restaurants, places where to go sighting seeing, and helped with directions. The Hotel room was very clean and had recently been updated. The bed was very comfortable and the bedding was clean and crisp. We really enjoyed our stay.
"Great hotel and great service"

This hotel was excellent. Beautiful decor and very clean, service very efficient and friendly. Chelsea and the rest of the front desk staff (sorry didn't get everyone's names) were very helpful and professional. It was great to have the room made up when we returned to the room.

We were very pleased with this hotel. The staff were friendly and excellent and Vassey and Chelsea were especially helpful, as well as the lady who did the breakfast on week days, not to mention the maid who took care of our room (204). We visited Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown which were not very far away. Everything was very clean and well kept.
"Guys Golf Getaway"

There were 4 guys away for a golf weekend. We were put in the HIE by the golf getaway company. You couldn't beat the price. It provided a good continental breakfast, the rooms were clean and the staff was friendly. There was a small refrigerator and microwaved in the room. Not that we were looking but the fitness room left a bit to be desired. The location seemed central to most places you would need to get to. There is no restaurant of bar in the hotel. There was a small outdoor area to smoke a cigar and have a fees beers ( that you provide yourself). I would yes this hotel again for a golf getaway but not sure about grinding the family. The rooms didn't seem that big for a family to have any extra room to move around.

August 13 - 16 we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express. Good customer service and the hotel was clean and well kept. We would stay here again. It was in a good location for a Williamsburg Vacation, convenient to the highway.
"Nice hotel for a nice price"

We were looking for a hotel to stay in after a day at Busch Gardens. We only planned a one night stay. After looking a several hotels and reviews I decided that we would stay at the Holiday Inn Express North. It is right off I64 on the way home for us and easy to find. After a long day at the park and a late check-in it was nice to have friendly staff. I did have to remind them that we requested a roll-a-way bed but then they delivered it quickly. The room was clean, the beds comfortable, and the shower had good water pressure. If we were staying longer I would have really used the mini-fridge and microwave. They have a pool that is open until 11pm but we were too tired to use it. We got up early to head home and enjoyed the breakfast before going. I love when breakfast is included, it saves our large family so much money. There were hot food items as well as typical continental items. I was not a fan of the scrambled eggs, but I really like the pancake making machine...very cool... and the pancakes were tasty. The kids enjoyed the cinnamon buns. There is a Starbucks nearby so we stopped there for our coffee.

This hotel was great value for money. It was very clean, the staff friendly, free wifi and breakfast, a fridge and microwave in the room. It was just what we wanted for the 3 nights we spent there, whilst dropping our daughter off at William and Mary College, which is just a few miles away. You do need a car to get around though.
