Days Inn Bristol M5 - Bristol

My husband and I stayed here, but didn't arrive by car. Coming by bus is dangerous as you have to walk along the motorway without a shoulder due to construction right now, which no one warned us of (especially dangerous at nighttime!). There is a Starbucks, Burger King, KFC and small version of Waitrose next door at the same motorway stop. The hotel […] felt very removed from Bristol and was hard to find in the dark as it's virtually hidden in the bushes that have grown around it. The hotel can definitely use a refurbishment and I would not give it more than 2 stars,,. maybe one. There was no soap in the shower and the front desk made us walk to pick some up. The furniture had strange stains all over it and the room was dark and shabby. The bed was barely big enough for two people and nothing seemed clean or comfortable. In fact, the toilet looked like it had been used before we arrived. The hotel is probably meant for truck drivers and not couples. It surprised me that Days Inn can get away charging such high rates for location that is not central, lack of cleanliness and poor services. Read more

The Gordano Station Days Inn was so convenient, right off the motorway. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the room was extremely clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend and will stay there again.

It was great last minute accommodation and a nice clean room. Impressed with facilities (hairdryer available) and plenty of room to asssemble travel cot for our child. If I was to comment on anything not quite up to scratch it would be that we had been offered a non-smoking room yet the room had obviously recently been utilised as a smokers room but […] that was no big problem. Nice greeting on arrival was disappointed that are room was at the side of the The road where the lorry traffic to the m5 was very busy but was to tired to complain would ask for a different room next time everything was clean in the room needed more milk for tea otherwise we will be back .

Was a good hotel aside from the fact that with Day Inn you must specify that you DON'T want a smoking room to ensure you are not put in one. I booked through expedia specifying it was for me and my 5 year old. We arrived behind a mother and daughter who were shocked to find out they were in a smoking room and then for me to be told the same with my […] young child there was disappointing. I thought smoking rooms were a thing of the past and the room whilst comfortable and in good condition, had a strong odour of smoking in there which was in all the bedding, towels, furniture, etc. I had to leave the window open til very last moment to try to clear the smell. It was a shame as it was an otherwise comfortable stay with free wifi in the room a real bonus. I think if you are travelling with children it should be instantly assumed that you are to be in a non-smoking room? Read more

We were a family traveling with two small children and our pet cat. This hotel was very clean, quiet. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The room, though small, was clean and fitted with many helpful amenities. There is a beautiful garden and some birds in a cage outside near a picnic area which my children greatly enjoyed.

Initially daunted as we drove up but we were pleasantly surprised when we entered the hotel. It was clean and basic, but much more than adequate with a pot of hot coffee on the hot plaste. The staff were delightful and welcomed us with eager smiles to please and were very helpful and knowledgeable. Our room was surprisingly spacious and the trundle […] beds were a standard size and comfy. I would like the main bed to be a bit comfier but cant really knock it as we all slept really well. The Starbucks and waitrose were very handy, literally minutes away and we were able to heat up ready meals in the hotel's microwave and sit at the tables and chairs set for breakfast. We booked the Days Inn online in a bit of a Rush so it was only when we had to take a taxi to the location that it was 'off the meter' outside of Bristol. It was a bit cheaper but factoring in the cost of cab fare it would be more convenient to get a place in town (the next place we stayed was 5 min walk from the Temple meads Railway Station - much […] better). Though if you have a car perhaps this can work for you, the room tidy and had the standard amenities. Though it is located in a Truck stop, the area is a bit shady. You get what you pay for!!!! Cheap hotel accomodation, our non-smoking room smelt of stale cigarette smoke, the continental breakfaste did not cater well for gluten free allergies, or for a sugar free diet - wife limited to fruit and yogurt, I was limited to buttered toast! Surrouning pub were great. Cheap accomodation if you are desperate!

I had to pay the full business rate which for what the Days Inn offers is excessive. It was conveniently located for my work and the room and bed clean and acceptably comfortable. However, one desk type chair (no arm chair) and an expensive but shabby breakfast in uncomfortable surroundings means I will in future seek alternative accommodation.

When we arrived we were sent in the wrong direction for our room, it seems the man on reception didn't know where our room was, when we did find our room it was clear that the room signs are incorrect/far from clear. I was shocked that only 3 beds were made up dispite booking the room for 4 - we were informed that 'we should have requested the 4th bed […] was to be made up in the special request section when booking. I have never heard of such a thing in all the Hotels we have stayed at - if a request had to be made then there should be notification somewhere that only 3 beds would be made up unless requested, otherwise how we we know Days Inn in Bristol is different than anyone else. The gentleman on the desk failed to ask my car registration details upon arrival it was only as I left for my appointment I realised it was a controlled car park and at that point returned to reception to then be informed I may already have a fine in the post. Not the greatest of starts I think you'll agree. Then upon arriving to my room I discovered […] the tea and coffee had already been used and the bin to be full of what appeared to be somebodys elses dinner!!!! The room on the whole was clean but as the bin was full of some cold meat and sandwich wrappers it smelt of strong flavoured meats and left me feeling somewhat uneasy somebody else was going to return to this room later in the evening. I arrived at the reception and was greeted by a very friendly and helpful receptionist. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The bed was a little on the bouncy side but still extremely comfortable. There was even a small settee with a coffee table. For those that are interested, there was also free wi-fi and, if needed, a computer with internet […] access in the reception area. The bath towels are a good size - important from my point of view as I'm on the larger side and have stayed at far more expensive hotels who supply what I can only describe as a large hand towel masquerading as a bath towel! Although the hotel is situated at Gordano services, it's separate and you wouldn't know you were near either the motorway or the services - it was very peaceful. In the morning, a help yourself, all you can eat breakfast was available for a bargainous sum. Everything you could want was available - juice, fresh fruit, cereal, pastries, toast, yoghurt, cheeses, teas, fresh coffee, free newspaper, etc. There's even a microwave if you need to heat anything. All in all, it was an extremely pleasurable experience, excellent value for money and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends and would definitely stay there again if I'm in the Bristol area. They are not in the 5* league as the price reflects but have always been comfortable.
