Baymont Inn & Suites Joplin

I'll start with the end - I will stay there again, and would recommend this hotel to my friends. But it sure didn't look like that the first half day. A long 11 hour drive so when I got into my room I collapsed in bed about 7 PM. An intruder opened my door and woke me an hour later by turning on the lights - then realized I was in bed and scooted back […] out the door, leaving the lights on. Turned out it was a mistake in entering my arrival in the computer, so really no harm was done. But when I went back to my room, my code-card didn't work ... of course ... because it had been superceded by the code key given to the lady who entered my room. It cost me another walk down the hall, but the problem was fixed - until the next day (I had a 5-nite stay) when I couldn't get into the room. The clerk was so flustered by the earlier mistake that it was forgotten I needed access for four more days instead of just the first one. No sweat, I'm I nice guy, and we all got along ... Until the next morning when I found a critter under the biscuit at breakfast.. Yeah, that's true, but I've seen bigger cockroaches, and some were downright aggressive when they were trying to eat breakfast and some out-of-towner interrupted their meal. ;^) That's all. I stayed four more days and was treated like a guest hopes to be treated, and left on friday with a satisfied feeling about the week. I WILL stay there again next time I'm in Joplin in a month or so. The people really ARE helpful and kind, and this hotel was clean, in spite of the bug - hell, he might have followed me into the hotel and just adopted me - who knows. LOL! Our room was very nice and big. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was good. I would stay here again. The only thing I wished was that the pool was bigger and that they had an eliptical machine in there exercise room. Otherwise everything was good.

We stayed there the day after Christmas because of my son's wedding. They let us check in early. The wedding wasn't until 7 pm, so we arrived refreshed after a nice nap. They also let us transfer the room to my daughter and son-in-law, and we went home (about a 2 hour drive) after the wedding. Thank you Baymont! You were awesome!

Room had no heat or telephone service to the room. Staff found another room very quickly. The breakfast was not fit to eat, continental would have been better. We stayed at this motel about 3 years ago and it was excellent, really went down hill today.

We were traveling and needed a place right off of the interstate to sleep overnight. I called HOTELS.com and the agent highly recommended this hotel. I booked and paid for the hotel room before arriving in the city and having a chance to actually view the hotel or check out pictures of the hotel on-line. This was a BIG mistake. The hotel.com agent […] stated the room would have two queen beds. The room, however, only had two double beds. The night clerk was extremely rude. We entered our room and discovered there were only two pillows (total) on each bed. I went back and requested more pillows from the night clerk. Her response was "I doubt we have any more". I asked her to check anyway and amazingly enough, she found two more pillows. The hotel itself was very dirty. The bathroom area in our room was vividly dirty. I had to run back out to the car and when I stepped into the stairwell, I discovered 2-3 roaches crawling in and out of the base board. Fortunately, I didn't see any in our room or I would have immediately left. I stopped in for breakfast at 6:30 am. I was pleasantly surprised to find biscuits & gravy. However, I was quickly disappointed to find that they were extremely cold and required a microwave. The check out clerk was the only positive experience. This is the first time I've ever stayed at a Baymont Hotel and I travel quite frequently with work. After this experience, I will NEVER stay at another. Read more

I'm really not picky as hotels go. However, this hotel was not to my liking. The one time I needed a hotel elevator (bringing my son's bike to college), I'm told that the elevator is out and I will have to take the stairs. The beds were very lumpy and the rooms cleanliness was minimal. Not my best hotel experience.

Horrible experience! Dirty lobby, even dirtier rooms! Candy wrappers behind the night stand, dust covered all the lamp cords and outlets, stains on the bedspreads, hair on the pillows, carpet sticky, did NOT want to walk barefoot! Would not recommend this hotel to anyone!!

Hotel room was not cleaned even though the front desk insisted that it had been cleaned... pretzels on the floor and hair on the pillows... Had to battle to get moved to a different room. Property had cigarette butts on the outside walkways and garbage bags stacked in various places around the motel. Would not recommend staying here ever.

Bad experience! When I arrived at the hotel there was NO clerk at front desk. Waited for a while and then went to look for someone. Finally found this man named "Bruce". When I told him I had been waiting at the front desk for awhile and that the phone was ringing off the wall he hatefully said"I have a hotel to manage!" Then when he finally was checking me in he said he couldn't find any reservations in my name(giving me a hard time) so I whipped out the conformation and started reading off the numbers. Well of a sudden he found my reservations! Not very professional to treat customers that way! The rest of the staff was nice. The room was dirty, hair in bathtub, sticky floor in bathroom, smeared mirror, TV reception was awful, swimming pool water was cold, Hot tub lukewarm with Lots of suds in it. When the maid cleaned the room on our second day she only half way made the bed and that was all she did! The blow dryer was broken also, and the breakfast wasn't very good. Without our knowledge we were booked into a handicap room and we are not handicapped. The room was very small and everything was at waist level. Bathroom was large, but had very little counter space. The breakfast was marginal at best. We will choose a different hotel next time.

Hotel was very nice. Staff was friendly. Pets were allowed, so we were estactic. Nice breakfast. Praying the hotel is stil there, as we left the day the tornado hit Joplin (5/22/11). God bless you all in Joplin, MO!

It was very close to MSSU, which was where I needed to be that weekend, and it was near quite a few restaurants and the main highway- so great location. Complimentary breakfast from 7-10 was nice and a pool/ hot tub area. The gym was shabby but they had one- treadmill and tv, pretty much all you need! We were looking for a clean, comfortable place to sleep, and this property fit the bill. The beds provided good support, so we fell asleep quickly and stayed asleep all night. The shower worked well, and there was a rack on the back of the shower to hang a towel so it was easy to grab. When we arrived, the keys we were given didn't open our door. The manager came promptly when called, but had to give us another room when he couldn't open the door either. We were so tired that this was a hassle, but it was resolved pretty quickly. Also, there was no vent fan in the bathroom, and water from the shower steam ran down the mirror. The room smelled gross. It was marked nonsmoking but smelled like it'd been a smoking room for years before it was make nonsmoking. The smell was in the carpet and decorative pillows, drapes, etc. Everything but the sheets.
