Chancery Court Hotel - London

I stayed at the Chancery Court Hotel several times when it was a Renaissance property. Unfortunately, it has changed hands. The new owners are in the middle of a renovation that is ruining the property. This is a gorgeous building in a superb location. It is less than a block from the Holborn tube stop. The renovation is in very modern style. The walls […] of the guestrooms are completely bare. No pictures. Not even a mirror. The worst problem is the furniture. I needed a desk to work at, but was told there was no room in the entire hotel that had a desk. Instead every room has a round table. But there was only one comfortable chair and it was not the right style to use while working at the table. They brought me a side chair which I had to make do with. After complaining, they also brought a second easy chair so that my wife and I could be sit comfortably at the same time. If you will be doing any business while staying in London, don't stay here. We were in England for a few weeks and made it to London for just a couple of nights. We searched for hotels near Covent Garden and found this one. We were amazed at how huge it was, how comfortable and upscale it was, and how perfectly located it was for shopping in the Oxford area.

I thought this hotel was beautiful. It was in a great location and the room we had was nearly remodeled and very comfortable. Quite a nice room size for London and the complimentary expresso machine, robes and slippers are a classy touch. Staff were very friendly and responsive, we called room service for champagne glasses and an ice bucket and they […] came immediately. The Pearl bar and restaurant are decorated wonderfully, the only slight negative I can give is they lacked atmosphere and are quite expensive. Hotel was extremely comfortable. Room amenities at their finest. Location couldn't be better. Some comments for improvement. During holiday staffing was minimal, leaving service not the same as after holiday. Holiday not reduced rate. Wifi not up to 5 star standard, which is no charge. Despite constructive comments, would stay here again and again.

Make sure you stay in the new wing of the hotel. they are renovating more rooms now, the dining areas, lounge and gym, but the new rooms are beautiful. Well designed, beautifully decorated with the coolest glasses, leather boxes and accessories. Bathrooms are very modern and the beds, super comfortable. A nice hotel, with some noticeable exceptions. Paying for WiFi at these prices is ridiculous. Also, linens were obviously not washed and stunk! Unacceptable! The bar (Pearls, I believe) was cold and uninviting.

When we walked in to our room, we discovered the bathroom counter and cups were coated with toothpaste. The front desk's response was to "look into it". This is not 5 star quality. The concierge was there 25% of the time. The guest services guide states there is a money exchange and an ATM in the lobby, both of which do not exist. The lobby toilets […] were cordoned off under some sort of secret construction (which I never saw). And they actually make you pay for internet. Hotel was beautiful inside and out. Our room was huge and had a marvelous bathroom. Staff were very helpful. The tube was a 3 minute walk. Plenty of restaurants close by. It's definitely not a touristy location. It's located more in the business district, very quiet on the weekends and many shops directly around the hotel were closed on the weekends, […] however there were many other shops and restaurants open that we're just a short stroll away. The only negative about this hotel was no free wifi or even free computer use in the business center. For such an upscale hotel I expected wifi to be included, at the very least in the lobby, as three star hotels throughout London even offer that. Read more

This hotel is top notch. Close to everything, great sized rooms, bathrooms and good amenities. I just completed a ten day trip in Europe and this was by far the nicest hotel I stayed in. I must travel to London again in October and plan to stay in this hotel again. CC reminds me of the NY Wadorf Astoria, but this hotel has much larger rooms.

The room amenities were very nice, but the walls were barren. It could use a dash of color, and some eye-catching art. Also, the room was stocked to the nines with minibar tasties, but no menu/prices. I was sure the wine was not free, but I started to wonder if the coffee was. I had to call reception to ask.

I really liked this hotel. Stayed there during the olympics and though pricey the hotel and staff were great! I went from there to a 4 star Paris hotel and if that was truly a four star then this is a ten star! Great hotel and it would have been a perfect hotel if it were a bit more centrally located but Holborn is just fine.

I was surprised by how spacious and elegant the rooms were. When you think of London (or Europe in general) you tend to envision relatively small, sparse quarters (unless you're spending huge sums of money). I was pleasantly surprised by the value of this hotel.

Chancery Court is quickly becoming a favorite hotel for when in London. I've stayed here twice now. Both times I was impressed with the service and the value. As an Elite Plus member the value adds that this hotel provides are very useful and much appreciated. This is not the coolest hotel with the hippest crowd. Hotel Interior and the furniture may not be brand new or recently renovated. But it definitely has class. Impeccable service, beautiful classic building, and great location. Beautiful flowers and touch of scent welcomes you in the lobby. The concierge as well as all hotel staff were extremely nice and helpful. They even remember what I asked the day before and ask me about the feedback in a pleasant way. I felt like they really do care. Only downside is their wifi wasn't stable. I had trouble almost every night though their technician was nice and walk me thru to fix it thru the phone. Also they charge 15 pounds per day for wifi. I think that is little pricy side since these days there are so many hotels offering free wifi. So that's something Chancery can improve. Overall, It was a great stay. I left with a big smile. I will absolutely recommend this hotel and will go back. I realize this time again that five star is five star. Enjoy your trip! Read more

This is not the Savoy or Claridges. However, at nearly half the cost, the Chancery Court delivers more on a purely pound-for-pound basis without making one feel they are slumming. It is getting a little tired in the rooms, but the common areas are very good and of course the building is a landmark. I had the tasting menu at the Pearl one night - GBP120 […] with the wine - and was pleased. In particular, the staff there were excellent. We stay in London perhaps 10 times a year and usually stay at the Savoy, Dukes or Threadneedles, but I think Chancery Court is now going to be in the rotation.
