There is absolutely no place to eat near this hotel and it is obviously quite old and getting run-down. Their driver took us to find a place to eat, but he got completely lost in the process. Due to a flight reroute we got stuck in Dallas overnight on short notice and went through this site to find a hotel. We chose the Hawthorn for two reasons - the rate was decent and they had free airport shuttle service. The rates were probably low because their hotel butts right up against the Fed Ex ramp at the airport which made a tremendous racket […] til 1 am. And their normal shuttle van was broken. They could only take 6 people at a time and all the slots within three hours of our flight time were already booked up when we got there! They refused to do anything to fix the situation and we ended up having to spend $25 on a taxi. When we contacted Wyndham they said they would make things right and would email me right away in response. That was 10 days ago and still no word. Don't waste your time or money going here. The breakfast was very good for a complimentary. I was expecting just cereal, toast, bagels, yogurt like most places I've been that have a free breakfast. This one had fresh scrambled eggs. Poor guy working had only been there 2wks and was his first weekend alone, it was the weekend before Christmas. It was busy so took awhile to check in. Room we reserved was not room we were given but he changed it. The elevator had food spilled in it. I always get a chuckle when I read the "Help mother earth" signs in the bathrooms. Someone lives in a parallel universe! Perhaps that explains why there was no floor lamp next to chair and ottoman. The room was disappointing. We were expecting a king bed, but instead had a queen and it was smaller than our queen bed at home. "Misled and disappointed."
Website misleading. Room ok, but not really a suite; just one big room. No extra pillows/blankets in closet. Pool was not appealing at all - pretty much a concrete hole with a metal fence around it. They ran out of regular dishes at breakfast and I had to use paper plates both days we were there (food ok). Side door to the hotel that was closest to […] where our car was parked, didn't quite open all the way so when you exited the building, you kind of stumbled because you expected the door to go further than it actually does. The printer in their business center was old and wasn't working. Had to get the front desk person to help fix it (he was nice about it at least). We checked in about 10:00pm on a Saturday and got the wifi code ok, but they failed to tell us that the code changes on Sundays. In the morning I was trying to use my iPad at breakfast and it told me I had the wrong code. I went to the front desk and this is when I was told about the code change. Their convenience food area was pretty weak with selections. There was a horrible smell in the stairwells and the stairwell carpets were dirty and needed serious cleaning or replacement. The toiletries provided in the room only included shampoo and bar soap; conditioner and body wash would've been nice (normally I bring my own but this trip I was trying to pack light.) This weekend was in a King suite, MUCH better the double queen "suite" and had a double sized whirlpool tub w/shower in the bathroom.....very nice. We stayed here the night before we flew out of DFW. Overall I had a great time at the hotel. They allowed me to check in early, which was fantastic but they gave me the wrong room. Because of their mistake I got a free upgrade to a suite which was fantastic! The only problems were that there is only 1 luggage cart for the hotel and an employee was using […] it to transport boxes when I got there and needed it. Also, the sofa bed in my room was difficult to get out and when I called for help I was told it would be a 30-45 minute wait because the only other employee was out picking people up.
