I stayed at this hotel over Christmas last year and found it convenient, comfortable and clean. Seven months later, like all Extended Stays, its become very rundown. "Hotel that puts out false info on its website"
The hotel's website says it has "breakfast". When I checked this out one morning it turned out to be, as one of the hotel people said, "grab and go". A few crunch bars and some apples, that was about it. Coffee but no decaf and no juices for the children. "The true definition of disaster"
Made our reservation on Sunday night . After an 11 hour drive from Ohio to Kansas, we checked in around 7:00 PM only to be sent to a room that looked like a crime scene. When we opened the door to the room, we were greeted by a king size mattress leaning up against one wall, while it's counterparts were up against the opposite wall. There was nothing […] else in the room except for two gallons of bleach sitting in the middle of floor. Our first thoughts were..."what the heck happened in this room that requires two bottles of bleach to clean up!" Way too many possibilities for us to feel comfortable staying in that room. Went back to front desk and they had no explanation why the room was not ready for us. They offered what they said was the "last" available room for that night (a Monday), but based on the look of the first room, we decided against making the looooong trek down the hallway to see their "last" room that was next to the back stairway and across from the trash room. We promptly left and found other accommodations elsewhere. The biggest surprise was yet to come. Two days later a when I checked my CC statement, I had been charged for the fulll 3 night stay that NEVER happened. I am currently trying to fight to receive a full refund, but am only being offered a partial refund due to the fact that I arrived just a few minutes after the cutoff time for free cancellation. This was the most unpleasant stay of our 5-day road trip by far! Upon arrival, I was met with a very casual and blunt "Whatcha need?!?" I told her I wanted to check-in and she trudged over to the counter to check me in. Our room was located on the floor below the lobby and when we walked in, smelled covered up cigarette smoke smell. The window, facing […] the back parking lot at ground level, was left open about 4 inches! The outside temps were in the 20's, with blowing wind. The room had to be a sweltering 90 degrees - I say that with uncertainty, as the thermostat was hanging off the wall and appeared to be broken, as I could not get anything to come up on the display. I saw a children's toy on the floor, which I assumed meant no one had vacuumed since the last visitor. I called to the front desk and asked for a new room and was told there were no other rooms. After pushing, I was finally told there was a wheelchair accessible room available after all. We moved to it, which appeared to be more comfortable. However, we discovered the elevator "ding ding" would be heard ALL night long, every 5-10 minutes, as if we were staying at a busy hotel with 2000 rooms. How could such a small hotel have such an extremely busy elevator ALL NIGHT LONG? If we are ever in the Overland Park area again, we will stay FAR away from this place! Check in was quick and friendly. Easy lay-out all on 1-floor. Quite even though seemed like many cars in lot. Had grab and go breakfast. Room had a slight cleaning solution odor upon entry but you got used to it. Room was clean and updated. Kitchen was well equipped. Bed was comfortable. The only unpleasant feature was when we pulled the sheets back […] on bed you could faintly see that there was something dark showing through the sheets, so I pulled the sheet back off the bed to see that it was a fairly large blood stain that was on the mattress pad. Our room was not very clean when we arrived. We had an infant with us so I had to wipe down all surfaces and most were fairly dirty. We arrived at about 2:30 in the morning the front desk help was nice and checked us in quickly. Upon getting up to our actual room we found that the bed was improperly made and missing bedding.The mattress was also hard as a rock and completely uncomfortable. Everyone was accommodating - I mostly saw one front desk receptionist the whole day and time we were there and she was sweet and wonderful. My experience was good. The room was clean which was all I cared about. There was free wifi but I didn't have a chance to get online because I was out.
