Extended Stay America Houston - Galleria - Uptown - Houston

This hotel is perfectly situated in Houston, however the hotel is badly in need of a refresh. Rust on fixtures, cracked Formica countertops, old cabinets, noisy a/c, and thin doors made this a disappointment. At the time of the booking it was only slightly more to stay at the Hilton one block away; I won't make the frugal decision again.

Extended Stay America in Houston is in a GREAT LOCATION. The Galleria is a block away and the street behind the hotel, San Felipe, is full of wonderful shops and restaurants and is safe to walk day and night. The hotel itself is a bit on the drab side. My room had one plate, one fork, one knife....you get the picture. It IS convenient to have a kitchen, and the staff was very nice. This hotel was a Homestead Suites and has just been bought by Extended Stay America, so I am thinking they will update the rooms soon. Hotel has a good layout-- rooms have kitchens so it's great for an "extended stay". However, they put us in a smoking room when I clearly requested non-smoking-- I understand its not guaranteed but it was very unpleasant. They also don't clean your room everyday. Breakfast was average.

Price is just right for this location. Room is spacious and internet connection was good. No restaurant on site but one is next door at the Sheraton or if you have a car there are numerous restaurant close at hand. The grab and go breakfast is satisfactory.

I went to Houston with my fiance for the Allstar game. The front desk staff was friendly. When we checked and we noticed the hotel was very outdated. The paint in the room had black scuff marks, outdated carpet that needed to be cleaned.The location was great but that's about all I can say good about this hotel.

room was clean, a bit out-dated, but clean and that's important to me. Front desk staff seems to have to handle all but the actual room cleaning, but they were pleasant and helpful with anything I needed. Good value.

The room was very clean, but the bed was hard as a rock and the blankets thin. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Entire hotel was very quiet and orderly. Will stay here again (but bring a thick blanket) if I need a decently priced hotel room in the galleria area.

... with exception of noisy refrigerator, nevertheless a clean full size refrigerator. And noisy AC unit jolting me awake every time it switches on and off. Eventually just turned it off for the night. Also don't bother with the complimentary breakfast unless you're into a tiny selection of convenience mart junk food and a choice of apples and oranges. […] All else was excellent. Bed was firm and comfortable. Extended Stay does not provide much in the way of bathroom toiletries but you can pick up shampoo favors at the front desk. They have an excellent laundromat. Smells like smoke. The bed is absolutely disgusting. No shampoo or conditioner at these types of hotels. Also, the TV reception was full of snow.

The location was perfect for a conference I was attending. I could walk to conference and return for lunch breaks and dinner breaks. The kitchen allow me to save money on not having to eat out every day. The staff remembered my name and were most helpful.

This Extended Stay Hotel did not have shampoo and when asked they said it was on order for the past week. Directed me to local drug store to purchase my own shampoo. Carpets on hallway floor was stained.

The bed was outdated and uncomfortable. Biggest issue I was put in a family style suite. Other guests were cooking Chinese or India food that permeated into my clothes. I doubt I will ever stay in this hotel again.

I booked this hotel because of price. Just one more reminder that you get what you pay for. Even at a significantly lower rate than nearby hotels, this hotel is over priced. I could find no one at the front desk after 8PM, until 7AM the next morning. Overall not a good experience.

The hall way on the 2nd and 3rd floor were as hot as an oven, not to mention the elevator. We arrived 15 minutes before 3 and was told to wait until it was ready. The stay was comfortable, unfortunately the front desk reception never mention a word about the acces to next door hotel sheratons fitness and pool facilities. I happened to learn about it on our way out after paying and driving miles daily to a fitness facility in town.
