"UNCLEAN AND UNCOMFORTABLE"
Cheaper cost comes at a price. I purchased a one-night stay for $160 while I was in Austin. The location was perfect, but the condition of the room was disgusting. The only thing I really hoped for was a good night's rest and a clean shower. It had neither. There was hair in the shower. What is even worse - is that while getting ready, I accidentally […] dropped my deodorant on the carpet - when I went to pick it up, there was short hairs all over it. The smell in the room was stale and the bed was uncomfortable. Word of advice: Bring your own pillow. They had only the flat cheap pillows you'd find in a dorm room or low end thrift store. 10/10 would not stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"great location but..."
Not a bad place, but it's lacking maintenance and care. It a great location to stay, but it's like stepping back 30 years. Breakfast consists of granola bars period.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Our first hotel room had a shower that just trickled water. We were moved to a different room with a functioning shower, but the rooms were not very clean, nor was the Hotel lobby. The hotel couldn't provide cups, cutlery, or lotion. There is also no pool or exercise facility. Lucky for them, their location is just what we wanted.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"If not for a terrible check-in experience"
Check-in was supposed to be at 3; we got into town around 2, got a late lunch and a few drinks and coffee then got to our hotel around 4 expecting to be able to relax before going out for the night. When we went to the front desk the woman there told us that our "room type" was not ready yet, and that it would most likely be another hour before we'd […] be able to check in. I inquired as to whether there were any other rooms available so we could go ahead and check in but she told me there were not, and that there were three other people who would have to check in before we would be able to. While it wasn't quite an hour, we got checked in around 4:45, thoroughly annoyed. We had no other problems with the hotel, and it's a great location (we walked everywhere we needed to go), but I will not be staying at this Extended Stay America again because when there is a set check-in time, my schedule revolves around that time and if I am made to wait nearly two hours after that time... Well you get the idea. Just beware and don't have solid plans until you know your room is ready. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Overpriced with little to show for it"
We stayed here because we wanted the location and free parking. The location was fine, as was the parking. The price, though, was too high for what they offer - namely next to nothing. No maid service and not even a pool! When we arrived in the room the night stand was turned upside down so we had to move that to the correct location as well as replace […] the lamp, phone, and clock onto it. The coffee table was also turned upside down on top of the couch. Very weird. We had to ask THREE times for drinking glasses. Pros: Location; free parking; clean rooms; fairly comfy bed; fast internet speed, which I found to be a very pleasant surprise. Cons: Everything else! Horrible sandpaper towels; having to ask several times for cups and none of that stuff being in the room anyway; odd room layout; no pool (!!! Who doesn't have a pool?); crummy breakfast; no full length mirror in the room; and though we really didn't need it, there was no maid service. We saw maids around but no one cleaned our room the 2nd day. We would not stay here again. It's stupidly overpriced for what they have...or don't have as the case may be. If I needed that location again I would probably just suck up the parking fee at one of the nicer hotels in the area. I'm sure they have mirrors AND a pool. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Not the best hotel I've ever stayed in, but was decent for one night. We arrived about 45 minutes before check-in in case our room was available. It wasn't so we came back at 3 pm. The housekeeper was literally walking out of our room when we entered and the floors were still wet. The grab-and-go breakfast was very picked over (not refreshed) when there […] was still an hour left. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

First room they gave us was filthy. Beds unmade, melted popsicle stuck on the counter. They gave us an alternate room but with a double bed instead of a queen. Not once did they provide us fresh towels, soap, or shampoo and not once did they come to refreshe the room over the 2 nights we stayed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Don't stay in Rm 149 unless it gets fixed!"
When we arrived @ 10:30pm after a 3 1/2 hour drive, we were told that our standard queen room that we had already paid for wasn't available any longer! However, we could pay $20 more to upgrade to a King Deluxe/with a pullout sofa bed. Which was their only room left, after a long day of work and then traveling, that was very frustrating, however we […] were tired so we said that we would upgrade! Then we were told that we would have to wait or drive around until after 11pm before we could check in, because of something updating on their system! When we finally got into our room, the pullout mattress on the sofa was dirty & stained and there were no bedding for the sofa. So our 11 year old daughter slept with us in the King sized bed. (On a positive note, the King bed was very comfortable!) Back to the negative, when you went to go into the bathroom, you quickly learned that there wasn't a door latch on the door (It wasn't broken, there was nothing there!)! It wouldn't stay closed unless you kept something in front of the door! The rest of the room was ok. However... You may want to go into the room and check everything out before you agree to stay here. Oh and if you are going to be a late check-in... don't show up before 11pm! "Sheets on the bed were not clean"
I was happy with the proximity to the convention center and walkability to downtown, However, I was disappointed when I turned down the covers to go to sleep and the sheets had inappropriate body hairs and other debris on them. I called the front desk and to see if they could put me in a different room, and their response was, "I'd have to wait until […] 11pm when they finished their check-ins." I was ready to go to sleep, so I asked if they could change the sheets. Their response is "housekeeping is gone for the night." So then I asked if they could bring me clean sheets. Someone did come with a set of sheets within 10 minutes and I changed the bedding myself. The person that brought the sheets said they would leave a message for the manager who came on in the morning to let them know of my inconvenience, and possible compensation. I never heard from the management. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"very clean, good location"
The room was very comfortable and clean. Located near great shopping on South Congress st. Not too far of a walk (or bike ride) to downtown. The only negative was having to ask the front desk for basic kitchen items like coffee maker or cups. Overall great stay!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location, Location, Location"
Staff and room were accommodating. Acceptable, but not exceptional. Hotel was clean and smelled like it was freshly painted. This is definitely a basic hotel without any special amenities. Rooms are small and restrooms have no fan or ventilation. No Ice machines, as the rooms are equiped with a fridge with ice trays, but the ice trays are emptied! Over […] priced for the quality, but what drives this place is the location, on the corner of S. 1st and Barton Springs. If location doesn't matter, you can find a better place for less money. "works for me."
very good place. I picked this place because it was still close to downtown (long walk, or a short cab ride) but here I didn't have to valet my car, which was nice because it saved me parking fees plus tip, and I could easily come and go as I pleased. Room was clean, with what looked like fairly new furniture. Kitchen was clean, and although we didn't […] use it, the extra space was nice, as was the couch. One thing that might confuse travelers is it can be tricky to find, since it is kind of hiding, the sign is not very visible from the intersection, and during high traffic times, pulling a u-turn can be difficult. "You get what you pay for!"
Overall, a "passable" experience, even though I would spend the extra $25.00 and stay in the Hampton Inn the next trip down. The sink wouldn't drain, the toilet would take at least two flushes, and the shower faucet/temp selector was so loose that it would fall to one side or the other - giving me either full hot or full cold water. Yikes!! The breakfast […] - isn't one. Just a couple of muffins or oatmeal bars and coffee. It was conveniently located to my business meeting the next day, and clean. "Disappointing for price"
This hotel is very convenient to walk downtown. Other than that it is disappointing for the price. There is no ice machine on the premises. I was told to make ice in my frig in the room. However, the frig was turned off so imagine how long it would take to get ice even if I turned it on. They claim they serve breakfast but I wouldn't call it that. They […] have oatmeal granola bars in a basket and coffee which runs out before the breakfast is over. No cereal, no milk, no juice. I have stayed in other hotels that were half the price that had a nice breakfast. Although they advertise a fully equipped kitchen, there is absolutely nothing in any of the cupboards or drawers unless you ask for it. There wasn't even a glass in my room to get a drink of water. They didn't ask me when I checked in if I needed any dishes as I assumed they were already in the room. They do get credit for a very comfortable bed. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A Mixed Bag"
We've stayed at this hotel twice in a month. On the good side- location's fantastic-- one of the best in Austin. Next to downtown & favorite restaurants in South Congress. Also good: prices- few hotels near downtown can meet their low prices. Some of the staff are fantastic, Another great feature is free parking--lots of it! And it's nice & quiet If […] this is all you ask for, go right ahead, make your reservations!-- On the other hand, if you are interested in cleanliness, it'll be hard to miss the housekeeping staff's cleaning lapses. There were lots of long black hairs lingering in the bathroom sink & in the shower, & on the walls. The floors were also neglected: a piece of trash under the counter, and farms of crud behind the bathroom door (more long black hairs here too!). When I complained to the front desk and asked that housekeeping clean the bathroom sink and shower, & the open floor area, only a cursory cleaning was done. Maybe three small pieces of dirt were removed, but the rest remained. The room is OK, & the small kitchen a bonus, but we'd like clean floors, bathroom sink and shower. On our earlier stay, after complaints about no hot water and cleaning problems, the Manager generously sent a note of apology and a free night coupon. .. But-Maybe we'll try the other Extended Stay on 6th next time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfortable without any borthersome maids"
This place was clean and comfortable and pretty-well located for walking to downtown, but certainly had no extras like a real breakfast, pool, or maid service. It was definitely bare-bones--but that's really all I wanted--a clean, quiet, comfortable place to sleep within walking distance of all the sights. Keep in mind that there's NOT a lot in the […] immediate neighborhood in terms of grocery stores or just a place to buy sun tan lotion. The motel is right near two bridges across the river into the town and also near a lot of bus stops and not too far from the great Barton Springs swimming hole, not to mention SoCo, a cluster of well-known music bars and food cafes. A bus for $1.50 will get you to/from the airport (or a $25 taxi ride). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Pretty decent stay, you get what you pay for kinda thing. It's cheaper than all downtown hotels; but not as nice as some of the higher end ones ice stayed at down there. Both times I've stayed there I walked everywhere I needed to go down town (marathon […] at the capital building, and State track meets on UT campus). "It was wonderful..Until it came time to check out."
When my Fiance and I checked in late Sunday night, we were greeted by Kristen, who was WONDERFUL! She was incredibly accomodating, considering we had to bring out dogs last minute. However, when it came time to check out on Tuesday, we really needed a late check-out, due to the fact that my conference was running later than I had planned for. Having […] the dogs, only one car, and temps already being in the lower 90s, I really needed a late check-out, so my fiance and dogs wouldnt be stranded outside the hotel, in the heat. My Fiance initally called, and was told, by a rather rude front desk clerk, that check out was a noon, and if we were not out of the room by noon, she would charge us for another night. He passed this information along, while I was downtown at my conference. In a panic, I had to leave the seminar, call the hotel myself, and try to plea with the women to give us a little more time. I got the same response. No sort of customer service. No sort of willingness to accommodate, despite having just paid several hundred dollars to stay there. It was just really disappointing. My fiance had to check out alone, cart two dogs, along with all of our luggage down alone, and then sit outside the hotel until I could break from my conference to pick them up. We travel to Austin quite a bit, and can absolutely say because of our check out experiance, we will never stay with this hotel again. I've never been to a hotel that didnt allow a late check out.
