The stay in Austin must be rated as fair due to 1) leaky shower faucet...annoys me wasting water especially since there is a drought going on there and Lake Travis looks more like a couple ponds. 2) We shut our door as we left for the evening and, unbeknownst to us then, the dead bolt popped open locking us out. When we couldn't get in, when we arrived […] back around midnight, there wasn't anyone on duty at the front desk, I had to step outside into the entry to use a phone to call for help. The clerk, who was working in the back office, tried to help but couldn't do anything so she called the manager who was too lazy to come 1 block from his home to use the magnet to open the door. We were "asked" (like we had a choice) to sleep in another room, in our clothes, without our toiletries or prescription drugs. I have worked in a couple hotels and leaving the front desk unattended was unheard of (except for a nature call, and note left at desk with 5 minute return time)... and a manager or maintenance member not correcting the problem immediately would have been cause for termination. 3) The blanket was worn to holes in some places, and towels were scratchy to the skin. "Much nicer than reviews indicate"
I don't know whether the reviews are mostly from before the renovation or what, but this hotel seemed brand spanking new/renovated and the staff was perfectly lovely. I stayed in room 221 if that helps, but they all seemed totally redone. The breakfast is kind of lame but the price is right. I walked to the convention center each day over the bridge […] and is took about 10-15 minutes. I think this hotel is perfectly nice. The rooms seemed totally clean and I didn't see any bugs (and after the reviews I read, I did check). I would actually recommend this hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"It was a good price and walkable to downtown"
They were doing a remodel and out room didn't seem quite complete. Or, maybe I was expecting too much like a box of kleenex or a sheer current so I could let light in, but maintain privacy. Ours was a ground floor unit with people parking outside our door. I called the front desk twice (I think I did it correctly, the phone had no instructions) but […] never got a person -- it just rang and rang. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was in a great area for walking....SoCo or downtown Austin was easy to get to. The hotel has just been remodeled. Staff was very friendly!!! I would definitely stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Dreadful property in an unsavory area of Austin. While there they were replacing carpets--a good thing-- but resulted in upheaval.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel but was under renovation"
I use this hotel once a year and will do so again. Really nice to have the kitchen there. It is currently under renovation so a few hiccups this year but hopefully will be nicer next year. Just wished they offered a better breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was nice and clean. I did not like the fact there were no face towels in the room and the front desk said they had only three. We did not get those three. The towels were very thin and rough. I suggest that they invest in a better quality. Overall, we had a good stay and it is centrally located so you a walk to restaurants. Also, there wasn't […] any garbage cans in the room. The day shift is more responsive but the night shift isn't as helpful. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"It could have been worse"
The property was under renovation, so some "dust and clutter" was to be expected. The room, though was very nice. Great bed, kitchenette and other amenities were fine. overall a comfortable stay at a reasonable price!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I was there for 2 nights. I didn't quite like the extremely noisy refrigerator (but they have one). The door to my room was open when I got there (a little strange), the vending machine doesn't get serviced often (3 of my selections were sold out) and lastly, they don't clean the rooms everyday, only if you stay for more than 7 days they will clean […] it (also not standard). The location is great, the room was clean. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Noise problem, no fancy stay"
It was one of the most unpleasant stay I have had. The hotel was going under renovation, which I was not informed during the time of booking. The wall painting and furniture are new, but the building is essentially old and had pretty poor noise insulation. The room I stayed has a metal door in the middle of the room, which connect to the next door, […] and you can hear every single conversation or sounds of next door---essentially there is no privacy. You can also hear the noise of hallways very well. I tried to use heater and the entire room smelled like urine. For plus side, the hotel is located fairly convenient place, close to downtown and main commercial road (though both 15 min walk at least) . The price was reasonable. Front desk is essentially understaffed and it takes long time to get any request replied. Manager was pretty nice. Overall, I won't go back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Roach in Room, Cheap for downtown"
A live roach was in the room. I had to ask the reception multiple times to get a manager to give some type of concession for the incovenience. Cheap for being a 20 minute walk from 6th street. Location in process of renovating many of the rooms.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Black mold in some rooms."
Hotel is undergoing remodeling, due at least in part to black mold in the older rooms. Hotel staff assigns rooms without regard to their having been remodeled or not. We were assigned to a room with a large mild infestation covering most of the ceiling in the bathroom, and only when we asked for a different room did we discover that a newly-remodeled […] one had been available all along. We stayed during the construction, but it was overall a nice stay!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
First of all i am someone that doesn't argue a lot but this time it's too much. When we arrived at the hotel room the first thing i reconize was the bad smell it was awfull, it's seems like someone had prepared food and left it without washing it. Then we noticed that the floor wasn't clean and was full of hair and the sofa bed had some bread crumbles […] and a spirit bottle led on it .The other thing i wanted to mention was that they weren't any sheets for the sofa bed despite we've asked for at the time of booking and the mattresse was stained. The room was freezing so we put the heating on, bad idea , the heater seems to work but it was smelling of burn. Finally, something that you couldn't do much about it, was the noise of the other customers at 2,3,4,5 PM. So without having slept a lot in a freezing, smelly and noisy room i should have taken my belongings and slept in the car. Thank you have a good day Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"In need of maintenance!"
Check-in was easy but the room needed help. We were informed that the rooms we were staying in had just been remodeled BUT you could see the hallway through the doorway in our room. There were hair in the bathtub, on the towels and in the bed. The drawers were superfilthy. The hotel was being renovated at during our stay, and they started drilling at 8 in the morning. "Just short of good"
With exception of some cleanliness issues upon arrival. The room was ok ... they need to spend some time on an exterminator as there was cockroach ( not the tree kind either ) the nasty kind in the bed in the morning. "Comfortable stay at a good price"
Overall, it was an average hotel. As an extended stay location, it lacked many of the upscale amenities of a shorter stay hotel. The building is noticably older, though relatively clean. However, the shower curtain in my room was a bit moldy. It wasn't too loud (I did hear a neighbor's TV one night). What I really appreciate was that it was walking […] distance to downtown (though a longer walk to the State house). It was difficult to find a drugstore within walking distance, though the local urban grocery (Royal Blue Grocery) had most of what I needed. It was nice to also have Car2Go parked nearby. The hotel itself was very well situated and the room was very well equipped. It was however severely let down but the uncleanliness of the room. "Huge room at a great price for halloween"
Was shocked to find a hotel downtown on Halloween that was under 150. "Dirty Room, Carpet, Smoke odor in Non smoking room"
I just had to stay one night in Austin. But I never expected it to be this terrible. When I walked into the lobby, there were two front desk clerks but one of them never had an intention to assist me or any other guest waiting to check in. It took them more than 30 minutes to check me in. My room was on third floor. I do not smoke, thus I booked a non […] smoking room. But it smelled like it was a non smoking room. The carpet was very dirty. The first thing I did was to inform the management about this. If you hate someone, then reserve a room for them in this hotel. Its that bad. I recently traveled to Austin for a week vacation and a friend's wedding. The extended stay Austin downtown was clean and convenient. "Fool Me Once..."
We stayed at this hotel last year for the same event, and had a decent experience. We booked again this year - big mistake. The upside is the location was great for the purpose of our trip, and it has a small kitchen. The rest was miserable. The bed was hard as a rock. I probably slept a total of two hours due to tossing and turning. The top bedspread […] also wouldn't stay in place because it was such a light, cheap material. The A/C was very loud and woke us up whenever it turned on, which was often, and sometimes would only stay on for a minute. Annoying! There was mold on the shower mat and around the shower, and the water pressure was pathetic. I couldn't wait to leave and we'll never stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
