When we checked in they sent us to a room that hadn't yet been clean. So they gave us a new one. "New Paint, New Carpet...Same Old Smelly Place"
I go to Cypress for business a couple times a year, and unfortunately I stay at Extended Stay because it's at least $50 a night cheaper than anyplace else (I'm self-employed, so I have to pay for expenses myself). They've added new carpet and new paint, but the place still stinks like it's old, and the employees at the front counter talk like fast robots...just […] repeating the same lines to customers over and over. Both the customer ahead of me and I had to keep asking the guy at the front counter to repeat himself because he was talking so fast; it's as if he was just repeating his script over and over again. I don't really like the place, but I stay there 'cause it's cheaper than other places in the area. I guess some day I'll stop being cheap and stay at the Marriott or Hilton across the street. The one think I would recommend is to have the housekeeping staff make sure that all rooms have trash cans, bath mats, towels-we did not have a trash can in our room-we then asked for one-when we came to our room in the evening and unfortunately didn't notice until morning we were leaving, but the bath mat was taken out along with towels and no replacements […] were put in. The hotel is currently under construction. I booked a 2 night stay in a nonsmoking room w/ queen. When I arrived I recieved a smoking room w/ king. I told the guy at the front desk and he said all the rooms say that and that the smell is from the construction. Well, he lied. The room was a smoking room and the smell was definitely not from construction. […] You can smell the difference between the smell of construction (saw dust like smell) and smoke (cigarettes). That was my only disappointment. I did not complain about it because I didn't spend very much time in the hotel anyways. But my allergies were bugging me at night/morning due to the smell. When my daughter and I stayed there we were not informed the property was under construction. Our phone did not work nor did the alarm clock.The next day we were moved into a different room with the same issues and the room was smaller! The second room had a terrible ordor as well. Room was fine... the hotel looked heavily worn.... regular carpet cleaning wouild be a big improvement. Corporate management should invest in carpet cleaning, paint and general maintenence to give a better first impression and eliminate odors and stuffiness of the hotel hallways, Rooms were fine except smelled like smoke in a non smoking room which […] had ash trays in it... I stayed there for three nights for work-related purposes. When I checked into my room, there was still leftover food in the refrigerator and freezer. The rest of the room was clean, but obviously they didn't clean the fridge. Also, there was what appeared to be mold on the ceiling in the shower. Hotel needs renovation--and they are working on it, just not my room. The furnishings were beat up (seats had stains), the plumbing needed repair (I had to call to fix the broken toilet bolts on my toilet and the bathtub creaked when I tried to take a shower). "4th times the charm"
Upon arrival we had a $100 deposit, pretty normal nowadays. When getting to our room the key didn't work. Our friends room was wrong. They requested two beds and only got one. The staff first said they couldn't grant it but eventually did. When my husband went downstairs to fix our key it still didn't work for a second time. Called from our friends […] room to get assistance. He staff came upstairs and told us we had the wrong room. He opened our door for us and propped it open for us and left. As we were unpacking I checked to see if our key worked and it didn't. Tried using the phone to tell the staff about our problem but the phone didn't work. Not even a dial tone. There was a horrible smell when entering the check in area....like raw sewage. I had requested an upper floor away from the elevator and these irequests did not get communicated and was put on the ground floor right at the entrance to the lobby.
