For me, this was not a great choice. This is an older hotel with charm, but it lacks modern comforts and modern facilities (like a fitness center). It reminded me a bit of visiting my grandparents as a child. The hotel restaurant is out of the '50s or '60s with its lounge lizard atmosphere. Even the room telephones are wired and probably 20 or 30 years […] old. The pool was okay but pretty much vacant. I was treated well by the hotel staff and front desk. Everyone on staff at the inn and the restaurant, Melvyns, went the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable. The inn was built around 1930, so it has all the charm of that era. Melvyns Restaurant was wonderful and well worth a trip to Palm Springs just to eat dinner there. We went for a quiet, romantic, relaxing weekend and left exhausted. They warned us about the nightclub being loud on Saturday night, so we tolerated that. However, the room was freezing and didn't have a heater, so they had to bring a space heater and the sockets didn't all work except in the bathroom. So the room was cold. Then SUNDAY night the band […] and nightclub were extremely loud again until midnight and the vacuums and door slamming started at 7AM Monday, (which was a holiday)! We left our room to go lay out by the pool because the gardeners were mowing outside our room and were accompanied by another gardener with a leaf-blower by the pool for another 1 1/2 hours! It was like trying to relax under a helicopter engine. We had great hopes for this weekend, and the hotel, and are just really disappointed and exhausted. We come to Palm Springs a lot and with many friends and family. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel. It's adorable and well-kept, but definitely not relaxing. Read more

The staff was as good as it gets, very friendly but not overdoing it and very comfortable to be around. This is old Palm Springs for the ambiance but not in the least old feeling. It's an escape to be here, tucked in up against the mountains with nothing but leisure surrounding you. Beautiful, older, but well-maintained inn. Old world style. I stayed in smaller room on mountain side. Room was small but very clean. Loved the complimentary fruit, cheese and cracker plate -- a nice touch, especially since I got in late. All staff were friendly and helpful. I have stayed here for over 30 years. It is still a great place.The pool area has gotten very poor quality poolside furniture. How sad for such a great place. I will still stay here but never will sit on the pool area furniture because it is very uncomfortable and cheap.

We spent one night for my BDay. Had dinner at Melvyn's. Steak Diane was excellent. Bobby (37 years at the Restaurant) prepared the meal table side. what a delight. then spent the rest of the evening until closing in the Lounge. Danced the night way. The Ingleside Inn is a classic Palm Springs inn. The inn and gardens are lovely and well-maintained, and the service is impeccable. If you want hip and trendy PS, go elsewhere. If you want a relaxing get-away in an historic inn whose staff is welcoming without being intrusive, this is the place!

This is a small, intimate, vintage "resort" with a very private feeling. No kids running around the pool. It's very quiet and inobtrusive. The staff do a very good job of meeting your needs and staying in the background. Very short walk into town. Very pleasurable vacation.

It is a nice small hotel, with tiny rooms, and a good location, but a noise of the air conditions was unbearable during the night, I mean from the other rooms. They have to do something about that, otherwise they'll lose guests.

We had just one of the regular rooms up stairs. I believe there is only four. It was nothing great. The villas look like they would be enjoyable. The staff was friendly and location was good. But again, if you get just a regular room I don't think it's that great.

Loved this hotel. Located just one block off the strip, this hotel is quiet and initmate. We enjoyed swimming and relaxing by the pool all day. The pool is located in a private garden surrounded by palm trees and greenery. You can take in views of the surrounding San Jacinto mountains while lounging on a raft or chair. The hotel has a lot of history, you can see a lot of old pictures of Hollywood stars staying at the hotel. The pool area you can a blast from all guests staying there. One nice thing they're very accomodating in letting you bring your coolers.

It is a beautiful historic inn. Me and my husband celebrated our 1 year anniversary. You get real keys, a fruit and cracker basket upon check-in and 30 different beautiful rooms. We stayed in what I call the French Opera Room, black and white with french pictures. The pool was beautiful surrounded by grass but if you are looking for a party crowd with […] bar service you wont find it here. Its quiet, relaxing and pretty. I dont want to tell anyone about this so it doesnt get ruined! My only problem if you stay in the same building as the lobby people stumble onto the porch right in front of your room and are so LOUD, obnoxious, and rude. I had to call the front desk 3 times before they would talk to them and still they didnt quiet down, so I threatened to call the police then they left. I spent 3 hours tossing and turning in bed. The restaurant Melvyns was amazing and beautiful. The crowd is older, we stood out as 20 somethings but it was amazing! Food was awesome! Overall great stay and you can walk to the strip. Read more

We are welcome with a gift basket, the ref has complimentary botted water, juice and soda. More than we expected, the room is good size, plenty of room for two of us, has magazines, and books to read.. The location is walking distance to restaurants and shops. I enjoyed our stay at the Inn very much. The hotel is a collection of small buildings - or villas - surrounding well-maintained, green courtyards. The result is a nice, secluded feel ideal for romantic visits by couples. Not so great for families. The pool is not huge, but a good and workable size. The grounds are very well maintained. (My only complaint […] was the lack of umbrellas to block the sun from the poolside chairs. However, you can easily move the chairs so they are in the shadow.) When we arrived, we checked in promptly and received a warm welcome from the attendant, who explained to us that there were complimentary beverages in our room's fridge that would be restocked daily. We also entered the room to find a wrapped-up package of little treats, which was a very nice touch. Although located at the end of the downtown strip, the location is still convenient for walking to restaurants. The advantage of being down the strip aways is that you are in a quieter section of downtown. The area behind the hotel is undeveloped, adjacent to a mountain, which makes for a good view, a quieter environment and a close-to-nature feel for a hotel located within downtown. The rooms aren't terribly large, and the air conditioner - a window unit - was a little noisy. But we turned it up to about 77 and it remained quiet. Still, the room was clean, well-maintained and although small, well-designed, with nicely renovated bathrooms. The hotel opened in 1922 - giving it a historic feel - though clearly it has been substantially renovated over the years to keep it up-to-date. We stayed in one of the smaller rooms located in a small, two-story building. We didn't see the villas - standalone structures consisting of one room - but I'm assuming they are larger and looked very nice from the outside, at least. The courtyard is quiet. We really enjoyed our stay here. This was a very charming, old fashioned hotel (they give you actual room keys, not plastic cards!) that has so much character. The personal service at Ingleside must be legendary! When we checked in it was dark, and the gentleman at the desk walked alongside our car to show us where our villa was located and where to park. Our villa had one of the most secluded entrances and terraces, was very private, and perfect for a leisurely breakfast. The room was a bit smaller than expected, […] but quaintly luxurious, and didn't look "hotel-y". Having complimentary beverages in the fridge, a fruit plate, and up-to-date magazines in the room was wonderful, as we arrived late after a long drive. The only drawback was walking the first two blocks of downtown next to the Inn in the dark, a bit sketchy where businesses have moved out. A quirky, individual hotel with the added interest of celebrity guests having frequented the property for years. A lovely restaurant, delicious, classic dishes (eg steak Diane, crepes suzette) served by long -serving staff. Enjoyed the welcome snack of cheese & fruit. Staff at check in very friendly and helpful.
