"ok hotel - not for babies with diapers!"
the room was ok but very cold. we turned on the heat at 10pm which finally kicked in around 7am. the room smelled a little musky like it hadn't had any air in a while. I wonder if it was because the hotel was pretty booked and our room was one of the further ones so used a little less? the rooms looked a little old but hotel itself had quite a grand […] entrance! pool looked clean and nice and was very nicely situated. we have a baby though and there were no change tables in the hotel! I couldn't believe that since they have a restaurant and conference centre but my only option was to change her in the middle of the hotel out in the open, no sink, etc. not nice!! Care and attention to this once beautiful hotel is needed. Pieces of plastic screwed into the ceiling where a leak was, general paint all around, broken fixtures that obviously no one cares about...disappointing. "Old Beds and worn carpets"
We had a King size bed that probably was bought when the hotel opened. There were 2 pillows that had seen better days ... very flat. We called and asked for 2 more pillows and it took them 40 mins to bring them at 11:30 at night. The restaurant food was very delicious and obeisance was very beautiful so that made up for the horrible room. Although the hotel and facilities were unique and quite lovely, we were quite disappointed in our sleeping accommodations. The bed was probably an original when they built the hotel ... It's gotten a bit tired looking. Poorly decorated and it really felt like the carpets needed cleaning. When we checked in the clerk seemed disinterested but check out worked well. "Spanish beauty past her prime"
Our experience at the Pacific Inn was disappointing. When we entered our room the a/c did not work. The front desk clerk kindly switched us to another room. After we had moved our belongings to the new room, another of the hotel staff advised us that you had to change the switch from "heat" to "a/c" in order to get the a/c to work. It would have been […] helpful to know this when we first complained about the a/c not working. In the "new" room we received the a/c worked, but the door did not lock as the door frame had been broken. When we brought this new problem to the front desk clerk's attention, she advised us not to worry as there weren't many people staying on our floor. We asked for another room that had a door that locked and an a/c that worked. We were given such a room. However, the springs on one of the Queen beds in our room were broken, which caused the mattress to sag on one side. The hotel had a nice pool, but the water in the pool looked like it had not been cleaned for awhile as the water was cloudy. We went to use the ice machine on our floor only to find out from the front desk that it was broken, although no sign had been placed on the machine. While we found the staff were good about switching rooms for us, we found that overall the hotel appeared run down and not well-maintained. The room according to the email sent to me was to be for 5 people with 1 king bed and 2 queens. Arriving we were sent to a room with 2 queens, so we had to get a cot along with. There was an ice maker outside our room that was very noisy every 10 to 15 minutes, which wasn't good for sleep, especially since I had requested a quiet room with extra blankets, […] which we didn't get either. I arrived at the hotel with my family and dog only to be advised by staff at the front desk that we were not booked into a pet friendly room, that we would have to pay an extra $20 for the room, that we would have to discuss the issue with Expedia as we'd booked through Expedia, and, that we were still getting a deal because the rooms were normally […] $130 per night! This was unacceptable because I had made a reservation for a pet friendly room. After much discussion, the $20 fee was waived and we were given a room, only to be called back to the front desk because we had to be changed to another room. The smell of the carpet cleaner was overwhelming, there were no towels at the pool, the pool change rooms were mouldy and dirty, and, the mattress on the cot that I was given to sleep on was so old that the springs dug into my back when I lay on it. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, which is sad, because, my husband and I spent our honeymoon here and used to come for brunches at the restaurant. The best thing that the Pacific Inn has going for it is its pool and hot tub, both of which are nice. The staff were also quite friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the hotel itself is long overdue for renovations. First of all, the very name of the restaurant is terrible. A word of advice to Manyana: If you don't think customers will be able to pronounce the word "Mañana" without phonetic spelling, just find a better name.
