"Beautiful, but overpriced."
It's a gorgeous place, but overpriced. Was glad to have only spent half. The location is nice and the views and landscaping are breathtaking. The room was immaculate, but no microwave or refrigerators in the room. The latter was unexpected. Not all the packages included meals, so if you plan to eat you should opt for including your meals. The breakfast […] spread was very nice, but the dinner was not of the quality I would expect. However, leaving the premises for dinner is not recommended. There doesn't seem to be many places nearby, and driving after dark doesn't seem like a good idea if your not familiar with the area. There are a lot of activities, although most of them seemed aimed at entertaining the children. The people were very friendly and the trip was relaxing. I would return, but it'd have to be a family excursion. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"amazing grounds but hotel needs to be remodeled"
had a great stay spent it outdoors on thier stunning property grounds. the l hotel needs a desperate renovation.very dissapointed that king bed was 2 twin beds put togetherGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel charged an additional $58+ per night for use if the grounds and facilities. I've never stayed in a hireling in my life that charged extra to use the pool and common grounds. Bad business. We got lost and did not arrive until 1:30 AM. Another couple was checking in at the same time. We were charged $400 a night PLUS $58.00 for use of the facilities. […] The other couple was charged $200.00. When I asked why the discount I was told the other duke had a kate check in and was nit benefiting from the facilities When I asked if it looked like were were going to play tennis or go to the pool at 1:30 AM the clerk ignored me, took my credit card and charged me $458.00. . On principal and bad policy I would never g there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very good hotel for a getaway"
Every thing lived up to our expectations, except for the food. The presentation of the food was first class, but the preparation of the food below what we expected. For younger people than we are, there was every game and activity that can be imagined. It certainly is a great place for a family retreat. The staff could not be friendlier or more helpful. "Skytop a disappointment"
The grounds and surrounding area are fantastic. The quality of the actual hotel, rooms, amenities and service were severely lacking. We will never go back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The setting is beautiful. The activities are varied and fun. The place reminds of time standing still. We surprised ourselves by having so much fun hiking, skeet shooting, playing horseshoes, eating well and ball room dancing.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Hotel with Wonderful Staff but Breakfast..."
We had a lovely stay at this very lovely hotel. The staff was wonderful and had tons of things to do for the little ones. One thing I would improve is the breakfast, that could have been 10 times better but overall a great hotel and stay. Beautiful location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good with room for improvement"
The building and the grounds are wonderful and the historic aspects are certainly fascinating. The staff are all very nice and considerate. An opportunity for improvement is with the Tap Room restaurant: expensive with small portions and they automatically add 18% gratuity to your check. We were quite disappointed with this aspect of our stay. The afternoon […] tea could be a bit classier than store-bought cookies with tea and cocoa. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
On our drive to the hotel we come to a long detour due to bridge construction, but clear detour directions. When we arrive at the hotel we are given directions to go around construction. Would have been nice to have this info before we left! The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The room is a good size and the bed was very comfortable. The TV was […] an old model with a built in VCR. Too bad I didn't remember to bring my VCR tapes with me! The bathroom was clean but there was a complimentary hair dryer but no outlet in the bathroom. Also not much counter space and if i noticed it what are most women going to think. We ate in the tap room. For was good nothing special. We did not eat in the main dinning room as I am more of a casual dresser and did not feel like packing a jacket just for dinner. Nice place would stay there again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

We had another great visit. Going in with the right expectations as usual is key. This is a great family spot with lots of activities.Genuine Expedia guest review
I really enjoyed this hotel. I went away for a weekend getaway with my husband and it was a peaceful and perfect mini vacation. I highly recommend this as a home away from home. They have skiing, hiking, sledding etc. you will be entertained all day.Genuine Expedia guest review
I booked 5 rooms at Skytop, we were 5 couples with a lot of kids. I originally booked rooms at the lodge and they were not able to accommodate us at the lodge and moved us to the inn. The rooms in the inn are very out dated and the mattresses are about a CENTURY old. they had replaced our cot about 3 times and each time the cot/air bed was worse than […] the one before. Customer service was horrible and due to some noise our kids made at the inn, the Management approached us every 5 minutes to shush our kids. I thought this was a family resort but to our surprise the management wasn't very nice to us or our kids. we were treated with disrespect and the entire stay was a disaster. i will never go back. "Music to my ears"
Quaint wonderful experience. Hotel is something from out of Sound of Music. Seems like many regulars who have frequented for years keep returning. So much more than just a hotel. Beautiful grounds. Staff was excellent they went out of their way. We had a situation and they addressed it right away. Definitely make reservations for the spa before you […] arrive.....check internet for specials. Spa staff were not pretentious and were very knowledgeable and provided great services. It was too cold for us to take advantage of all the grounds had to offer including bonfire and adventure center where there was paintball, rock climbing and many other activities. Rooms were clean comfortable and very spacious. Dinner and Buffett breakfast were both excellent. Take notice gratuities are included even for a small party of two. Bar bill is separate barmaid failed to tell us gratuities were included and if we did not notice she was about to accept a $16 tip for 3 glasses of wine. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel lobby is just beautiful! The Christmas decorations and lighted fireplace are a very warm welcome. Since we went after the summer season and before the winter season, there really wasn't much for us to do. The indoor pool closed at 6 p.m. Since we didn't get into our room until 4:15 because that's when it was ready, we had to hurry and change […] into our bathing suits in order to go to the pool because dinner started at 6. The food in the Windsor Dining Room was delicious and the waiters were excellent! After dinner however, there was nothing for my family to do except go to the fitness center since that was the only thing open. Overall, it was nice but we needed more activities. A walk to the waterfall the next morning was a great way to experience PA's great outdoors. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Do not stay in the main lodge. Facility is "historic" which means - very old. Super noisy heater/ac unit. Overall sound isolation is very poor - expect to hear details of what is happening in neighboring suites. Food was ok, but not great. Overall, you get comfort level of three-star motel for exuberant price.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Paper thin walls and doors"
My fiancee and I had expected the top of the line with a lodge like this. One that came so highly rated and recommended, but were very disappointed when I had purchased two nights in the main lodge, with a king sized bed and they put us in a cottage with two twin beds pushed together. Needless to say very uncomfortable and it took a few phone calls […] to get the room fixed for the next night, but they put us across the hall from the elevator. I laid down and the first thing we heard was the ding of the elevator bell and the chatter of all the people waiting for it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Pros: The grounds are absolutely gorgeous, beautiful golf course, lots of activities for kids. Cons:PAPER thin walls, high-priced but mediocre food. My husband and I came here for our anniversary weekend and it was not exactly the quiet romantic getaway we had hoped for. While the hotel itself was gorgeous-looking and our room as a nice size, we had […] some issues. We immediately discovered how thin the walls were when we were put in a room right next to a large family. We could hear every word they were saying, we could hear loud and clear every time their toilet flushed, even in the middle of the night. We had booked this trip to get away from the all the noise of NYC but ended up not getting much sleep at all. Also, the mattresses were hard as rocks - they had no give whatsoever. The main dining room was "jacket required" which we were not aware of when we booked so we were relegated to the Pub downstairs where the service was friendly but the food was overpriced and nothing special. ($21 for a very small chicken breast entree). The 2nd night we headed out to a local Italian restaurant off the premises (called Neville's) and had a wonderful experience. Overall, not a great experience at Skytop and we will not be back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Overpriced and Outdated"
Outside of building and grounds are very impressive, but that is where it ends. Food was overpriced and horrible. Inside of hotel has never been updated. Don't stay here if you are under 60!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Went here because we had purchased zip lining passes and wanted to make it a weekend. Very nice grounds, great hiking, very reminiscent of Dirty Dancing and/or The Shining. Meals are included, as is room service for an extra $5, and the food was very good. Zip lining was also a lot of fun!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Tired and Old"
Went to Skytop Lodge for a wedding--was quite familiar with the area, but had never stayed at the lodge. You can be sure I won't be going back. They call the hotel historic--I would more properly call it tired and old. From the old small rooms to the antiquated carpet to the 1950's bathrooms--this is not much of a hotel. The grounds are beautiful, but […] that didn't help me. They also have antiquated procedures (check-in is not till 4pm and check-out is 11am). I had a 4:45 wedding to attend and arrived after 12--tried checking in 3 times, room wasn't ready--never offered me another room. Finally got checked into a tiny room with an old old tv and no Kleenex at 3:15. Just made the wedding procession no thanks to the hotel. Definitely won't go back to this overpriced hotel again-Red Roof Motel would be a better value. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"The Best and Worst all in one"
The grounds are absolutely gorgeous, however the interior of the hotel is another story. The room comes fully equipped with a VCR and a Analog TV. The bathroom has been brought up to date using the cheapest tiles on the market, like a cheap motel would use. My advice for a wonderful experience, stay outside the entire day, and don't put the lights on […] when you go into the room Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This is a very nice hotel. The only issues we encountered were that temperature of the shower varied and was difficult to control and that no food provided. "Beautiful grounds and excellent service."
My husband and I wanted to get away for the weekend as our first baby is due in 3 months. We had a wonderful stay. The grounds are stunning and there is a lot to do right on the property. The standard room was small but it is a historic hotel so that is to be expected. In addition, there are many things to do and many places to relax outside of the […] room so it really wasn't a problem at all. The meal plan was great and made dining fun. The food was ok, but since it was included in the room price it really didn't bother us at all. The staff was excellent. I would highly recommend to anyone. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful hotel but don't go after September."
We went to Sky Top for my 50th birthday present. Our suite was beautiful and so was the grounds and the hotel. We had a dead spider in our bath tub for two days until we got rid of it. The activities people cancelled a bonfire that we were looking forward to. The next night they cancelled a night hike because he said "it was too dark". No sense to me […] since it is a "night hike". I got the feeling the two very young men there just didn't want to have it. For the next bonfire noone even came to light the fire. They closed one of the two restaurants for the season without notice and the only restaurant open for dinner needed reservations. A deli was open but we found out too late it wasn't open after 4:00 for dinner time. Since we didn't make a reservation we had to pay for that night's dinner elsewhere when we paid for meals already and no credit was offered. When we checked out they made an error on our bill and they were charging us for our meals when we had the meals inclusive package. They did correct it but that error should never have happened. I suggest to only go to this hotel before October so two dinner options are available because you don't only want the main formal dining room that had few options to choose from. The closed restaurant was used for a wedding when the hotel guests needed that restaurant as an option to eat in. There were several weddings and we felt the place was taken over by them and the hotel guests suffered for it. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice Pocono getaway"
Skytop has immaculate grounds, including a wonderful golf course. Everything else could use an update. Don't get me wrong, my room was fine, I actually had a suite. And had wonderful experience. The place is just old (still have actual physical keys for room). That would be fine if they weren't charging an arm & a leg for a room/night. Their prices […] fluctuate on here; I booked a suite for around $279 but prices went up as high as $500. The bar downstairs also had what I call New York prices ($7 for a bud light) - likely bc they get the NY crowd. All in all, you will enjoy your stay here, but you will overpay. Benchmark w/ some other resorts in the area offering similar amenities (Split Rock is one) and you can prob shave 25-30% off the cost of your trip. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not a good stop-over"
This was a miserable experience. We chose Skytop as a stopover on our way to a destination. It took them 40 minutes to find our reservation and during that time they were content to let me stand there and wait. They seemed confused and muddled about whether to valet or park our car. We chose Skytop because they offered room service, we knew we'd be […] hungry and tired when we stopped. However, during the time we waited for them to find our reservation the kitchen closed. When I brought up the room service they were apologetic and said they'd send something up. Great! However, they failed to mention they would charge us for the food. It was frustrating to get a bill for the leftovers from the kitchen. Overall, the staff were friendly and nice but not at all up to par with what I would call good customer service. "Beautiful hotel, lots of activities"
The hotel was beautiful, I felt like I was pulling up to a castle when arriving. I was pleased with the landscaping, colorful flower beds and the beautiful lake. The hotel guests were very polite and accommodating. Each day there are hourly events going on at the hotel like face painting or a camp fire. Very child friendly. I went without children and […] still had a very relaxin enjoyable time. Two pools, one indoor and one outdoor. And a lake for swimming in. There are mountian bikes available to rent. Golf, archery and kayaking right at the lodge. About a half a mile down the road is the adventure center where you can play paintball (groups of six or more) or zip line but make sure you call in advance for times and resverations!! The resturant on site is very fancy, but if your looking for something a little more laid back the dinner menu is also served downstairs in the tap room. Food is very fresh and delicious! My only con is that my room was small (which is ok because I didn't spend much time there) but it lacked a fridge, microwave and coffee machine. I packed my own snacks, lunches and drinks but no where to keep them. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Service was lackluster"
We had a wedding to attend that started at 4pm. I called ahead to make sure we could check in early and was told that it would not be a problem. When we arrived, there were guest for multiple weddings everywhere. They told me my room would be ready at 4pm which was the starting time of the wedding which we still needed to get ready for. They told us […] to change in there locker rooms down stairs and to leave our bags with the bell hops. The locker rooms were next to the pool and sauna rooms, it was 92 degrees outside and probably 110 degrees downstairs my suit was sweating before I even put it on. The rooms were bare and it was not a 5 star luxury hotel at all. We were later told that stephen king had stayed there and it was his inspiration for the Shining which you completely get when you first walk in. The grounds and amenities outsides are gorgeous and breathe taking but the stay in the room is mediocre. Food is average. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"some things are are amazing...others need work"
So here is the deal..this place has probably more activities and options than any other place I have seen. From zip lining, archery, trails, biking, boating, big slide in the lake, views, etc... and the food/staff were great. Now here comes the BUT. But, the main lodge rooms and hallways feel and are 100 years old. It needs to be renovated. It can still […] remain classic and traditional in decor. But for the price you are paying, it should not smell like my grandparents house. It needs to be brought up to this century. That being said, it was still probably the most memorable vacation I have had in years, because of the grounds, views, food, and staff. If you are as picky as me, stay in the Inn, which is much newer. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Wonderful family experience. So much to do. My boys 10 and 13 had a blast. The grounds and property are beautiful and the staff was wonderful. "Historic resort with charming old time feel"
Had a bit of trouble at check-in using my Expedia confirmation number. I don't know if that was a booking issue with Expedia or with the Skytop Resort. The manager on duty was able to rectify the problem fairly quickly. Expedia's deal for the all-inclusive plan is the best around....don't bother calling the hotel because they won't price match! Excellent […] service from all of the employees we encountered. Three meals were included with our stay and I was pleasantly surprised on how good the food was. At dinner men are required to wear jackets in the main dining room (the Windsor Room). At first I thought this was a little too old-fashioned of a rule, but it really does keep the atmosphere more elegant - even with children in attendance! Dinner consisted of 4 courses and breakfast & lunch were both buffet style. I only wish there would have been more gluten-free choices for my celiac husband. The grounds are beautiful and there are loads of activities to participate in (most of them included with your stay). The rooms lack some modern decorating, but they were clean. The "king" size bed is actually 2 twins pushed together....not the most comfortable bed I've slept on. I highly recommend the Adventure Center. We did the treetop zipline challenge and it was a blast. I also played on their newly constructed grass tennis court. From what the tennis director told me, it is the only grass court at a resort like this. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Enjoyed our recent stay, staff was friendly and hotel worked hard to keep you comfortable. The only complaint is it was hard to understand the daily activities. "5 Star Prices for 3 Star Service"
No doubt the fact that Skytop draws the NYC crowd accounts for the price inflation. Yes, the building and grounds are beautiful and old-world grand, but at the prices they charge, even out of season, one expects comparable service and attention to detail. The biggest problem was the incredibly hard bed. I am talking HARD, as in little more cushioning […] than the carpeted floor. The other disheartening detail was that a fold-up cot was in the middle of the floor--which we did not ask for or want. We took the initiative of wheeling it out into the hallway. There it sat in the hallway the entire 2 days we were there. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
