obviously this was not a NON smoking room and they tried to mask the smell. the location is good and may stay there again but will definitely not stay on that floor. Also the walls are very thin but it is an older hotel.

We only stayed one night. The room was very clean and spacious. The bathroom layout was a little cramped, but it's not like you spend a ton of time in the bathroom. Room service breakfast was pretty good and reasonably priced. Valet parking was a little steep ($18), but there's not much parking off Franklin St. in Richmond anyway, so it's okay.

Our room did not have a refrigerator in it nor did it have a microwave. I thought that was a pretty normal thing to have in a hotel room but this one did not. Other than that, the room was clean, the hotel staff was friendly, and the cookies were delicious. The view from our room was also very nice.

The hotel is nice and is good for a one night quick stop. Front desk staff was friendly but the African American male running the bar that night had no personality and seemed like he didn't want to be bothered so my wife and I left as quick as we sat down. In the morning, we called down to have the vallet service bring our vehicle around but twenty […] minutes later we came down and they had not gotten our vehicle and the vallet was sleeping in one of their vans. So, the valley answered the call and put the phone down and went back to sleep when he wasn't supposed to be sleeping in the first place. We were not impressed. Read more

This was an overnight stay after the long drive from Florida with husband and two six year olds. It was about a five minute drive from I95. You either have to street park or pay $18 for valet. I found this to be ridiculous especially at 1am with two sleepy kids and not being familiar with the area. The worst part was the noise outside our room. I slept […] maybe two hours before the beep beep beep of a truck backing up woke me up. From then it was noise after noise. We had two double beds and they were not comfortable either. I am 5 feet and my husband is 5 feet 3 in. We barely fit on the bed. The room was clean but nothing is included - no breakfast. Won't stay here again. This hotel is in a great location if visiting VCU. It is clean and fairly well maintained. Although the bathtub faucets were very loose and pulling away from the wall.

Anytime I needed anything (getting the complimentary shuttle, heating up leftovers, getting a plate, delivering the bags) the hotel staff was helpful and accommodating. I give them all high marks...from the bartender (and I don't drink), the front desk, valet, drivers...and I usually don't do reviews, but they earned a good one.

Staff was amazing, very kind and informative. The bartender even helped me tie my bow tie. The hotel is very close to the downtown hot spots (thrift stores, museums, restaurants). The hotel also has a shuttle bus that can take you around. I highly recommend this hotel.

Good location. Free shuttle within 3 miles of hotel very useful since it is costly to park at hotel. However, had to switch rooms because heat didn't work. Also, front desk called my room at 10:30 p.m. because I booked 3 rooms with Hotels.com and they were confused re: who was in which room (person checking us in made an error).

I have stayed in this location when it was another hotel and it has been transformed. After checking in I found out that the tank on the toilet was leaking from a broken seal and after informing the front desk they immediately sent someone up. We could walk to restaurants and the hotel was close to everything. Although the lobby was nice, the room was a little dated. The bathroom was tiny and the heating/ac was difficult to maintain a desired temp. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Went to a concert at the Richmond Colliseum and the hotel was perfect! Friendly staff..valet parking..shuttle service..AWESOME! My bed in my room put me to sleep in five minutes lol. My only issue was my showerhead was loose.

The hotel service was great but the food service left a bad taste in my mouth. I planned on walking .5 miles to the event I was in Richmond for but the surrounding neighborhood was seedy and seemed unsafe. Only stay here if you are a hard sleeper. The street noise was unbearable throughout the night.

This hotel is an excellent choice, as long as one isn't expecting to be downtown where there are more points of historic interest, e.g., the State House (worth a visit/tour!!!) might be 15 blocks away. The hotel would probably get more stars, were it not for the neighborhood. That being said, we felt perfectly comfortable parking our car just around […] the corner, leaving it out on the street, rather than spend the $18 overnight fee for valet parking. We walked several blocks of Broad Street the next morning, not far from the hotel, and enjoyed talking with a third generation owner of a jewelry store out sweeping the pavement in from of his store, one of several black-owned businesses in the area - but found no little cafe for breakfast. Traveling with 2 kids is never easy, but this trip seemed different. My son, who's 7, loved how they treated him "like a real person" (other hotels have made him feel ignored rather than like an actual guest). This fact alone meant the world to my wife and me. We would most definitely stay here again and recommend that you do the same!

As expected, our doubletree stay was great. We got in town late, and the restaurant was still opened and served us a perfect carbo-load dinner before the race.
