"Fabulous."
Completely renovated recently-- beautiful. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable bed/room-- extremely high-end textures and finishes from the bath tile to the door casing. The bathroom...oh the bathroom. Great piano bar. 5-star, no qualifications; expensive and worth every penny.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel but don't let the location fool you!"
My wife and I just spent 2 days at the Jefferson. I can't fault the actual hotel - compared to other 5 star hotels I thougt the rate was reasonable. The rooms are very large and the bed was the most comfortable I have slept in. We only had breakfast at the hotel - and it was excellent. The hotel has a very business orientated clientele and the dining […] areas are often used for meetings - although it didn't bother us some people may feel out having breakfast in casual clothes surrounded by suits! I also, for this reason, wouldn't reccomend the hotel for kids. The best way, in my opinion, to see any city (at least to get a feel) is on a hop on hop off bus. Although the hotel is very close to the white house - no matter where you stay in DC everything is very accessible. I loved Georgetown - the vibe is great. The Jefferson is a 30min walk away and at night after a days sightseeing you can't really walk out the hotel and find a host of bustling restaurants etc. Georgetown is packed with activity and the atmosphere is great. For this reason, although once again I can't fault the actual hotel (which was excellent) I would much rather stay in Georgetown. Happy travelling! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"The Jefferson Washington DC"
It took going through an uncomfortable night in an unacceptable room before we were moved to an attractive room. The first room we were shown was small and felt claustrophobic and the second we ultimately accepted turned out to be noisy and not comfortable for two people. Only after a complaint after that bad first night were we given a room that had […] been available when we checked in. After that first night we had a very enjoyable stay. "Jefferson is worth it!"
Beautiful hotel and our suite was very comfortable for the four of us! The bed linens and bath towels were lovely. We had a few service problems, but they were handled to our satisfaction.Genuine Expedia guest review
"fantastic staff and location"
from the time you enter this hotel you feel at home. as a solo traveler, i felt very secure and pampered by the capable staff, beginning with the reception and ending with the convenient check out.. the bell staff and doormen were extremely helpful and friendly. a visit to the bar is a must upon returning to the hotel before retiring for the evening. […] the rooms are nicely appointed with the most comfortable beds and linens. this hotel is within walking distance to many dc attractions and close to the metro. i would definintely recommend this hotel to solo travelers, families, as well as people transacting business in the dc area. you will not be disapointed. "Excellent location and superb staff"
The Jefferson is an excellent choice for a stay in Washington, D.C. The staff was friendly and very accomodating. When we arrived 6 hours after our expected arrival time, and 2 hours after our reservation for dinner across town, the staff got us in at the hotel restaurant - Plume - for a late dinner (which was exceptional). The White House and Lafayette […] Park are 5 blocks away straight down 16th, and the Capitol, National Mall and most main sites are about 10 minutes away by cab. Rooms are a touch on the small side, but they are comfortable and very clean. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very nice, top drawer, recently remodeled and modernized hotel"
The Jefferson shut down for two years for a total remodel, reopening in 2009. They moderized everything while blending and maintaining its original style. It is very clean, offering butlers to take of your needs on request. It has two restaurants, one that serves three meals and is very european in cusine. The other is the hotel bar and grill. The bar […] and grill offers complimentary mixed nuts and the best pickled green olives, with pits, and a varied food menu as well. Food portions of just about every meal are large and very fresh. The hotel is reasonably within walking distance to the White House, a couple of Metro Stations, and the National Mall area. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"A very nice Washington DC hotel"
The service was good; they fixed a few things on request, such as the TV and the heat. The restaurants, Quill and Plume are also very good. Everyone was helpful and pleasant. No complaints.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel looked great, the staff was polite, the suite I stayed in was comfortable, but service left something to be desired. The room was not ready when I arrived at 5 PM. The concierge was not able to get me tickets to a play ("it is sold out"), but I was able to call the box office and get them myself. At the casual restaurant, our waiter seemed […] to be out of his depth. I would recommend the hotel but tell people not to expect the highest level of service. "Pamper Yourself while in D.C."
My wife and I wanted to find a hotel that would take care of our every need after a long day of seeing the sites of D.C. with our teenage son. The level of service, professionalism and cleanliness was extremely impressive! It was within a few blocks of metro stations on two different lines and only 4-5 blocks from the White House, so we were able to […] get to our destinations very easily. The rooms, bedding and bathrooms were well equipped and VERY comfortable. The suite we were in provided a separate formal sitting room with queen sleeper and TV for our son. The fitness center, business center, library, wine vault and boardoom were all top shelf! We enjoyed reading and chess in the evening in the library/reading room. The only area for improvement (more of a heads up) is the schedule for the coffe/tea service offered downstairs each a.m.....I would recommend clarifying the schedule on that (I didn't and should have) but that is the only suggestion I have as everything else was perfect! We highly recommend this hotel if you are looking for the highest level of service, comfort, amenities, great location while in D.C. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"The Jefferson is exceptional"
Check in representative unable to find my reservation booked through Expedia, but took my information and copies of my expedia receipts and gave me a room upgrade. Room was not ready upon arrival, so we were escorted to bar area for complimentary drink. Luggage in our room when we were taken up less than 30 minutes later. Excellent location, bathroom […] with extra large soaking tub and glass enclosed walk-in shower was spectacular. Bar gets quite busy on weekend evenings with local people. Live piano music was great. Able to get light meal or appetizer in bar area. Olives and hand seasoned mixed nuts are complimentary in bar area. Did not try hotel restaurant, but seemed to be busy most evenings. Metro is about 3 blocks away, safe location day and night. Taxi service prompt when needed. Always greeted upon arival back to the hotel. Worth the price to be treated this exceptional and to be surrounded by such history as the Jefferson displays. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Incredibly luxurious"
The Jefferson Hotel is unassuming from the outside but from the second you walk in the door, you are treated like royalty. The service is excellent, the rooms impeccable and the amenities are unparallel. My only complaint was that there was no TV in any of their bar areas, which forced me to walk 8 blocks to the closest bar to watch the playoff game. […] They did, however, have private lounge areas with TVs available for private viewing, which was a gorgeous option, but not the atmosphere I was looking for with a football game. "Elegance and old fashioned charm"
LOvely hotel, in a beautiful area of Washington. Great service, charming decor, great linens and superb breakfast. The building is old, so the rooms are small but perfectly appointed, and so are the bathrooms . The library is a beautiful place to relax or read while you sip on their excellent madeira.Genuine Expedia guest review
"A hotel gem"
The staff was attentive and helpful; the rooms were delightful and the amenities numerous and appreciated.Genuine Expedia guest review
"The Jefferson - forgot comfort"
I stayed in a suite, and the bedroom and bathroom were great, but the living room area was terrible. The sofa felt like you were sitting on a pile of bricks and the TV was shoved in the corner making it hard to view. Not a good set-up for a business traveller who wants a comfortable set-up. The overall feel of the hotel was old and gothic. Not worth […] the money. Insane prices for room service. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Perfect small luxury hotel"
We loved our 2 night stay. The room was appointed for every need and beautifully so! Luxury linens and decor. Very clean. Staff was extremely cordial and helpful. Spoiled us for any other hotel in DC.Genuine Expedia guest review
The service and public areas were above and beyond my expectations. We were called by name and our every wish was catered to. However, our room was minute - NY hotel rooms are more spacious. We had to take turns getting into the wardrobe and there was no chair to relax and watch TV - only the desk chair which was nice, but was in front of the closet, […] so the TV viewer had to move while someone was getting dressed. The bathroom and shower were absolutely wonderful - I think they may have been larger than the bedroom. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Gorgeous hotel!"
We stayed at The Jefferson for one night and loved it. The decor is an interesting combination of old world and modern, and we thought it was beautiful. The bed was comfortable and we didn't hear too much street noise because we were on the 4th floor. The bathroom was lovely and spacious, and I particularly enjoyed the two windows that let light into […] the bathroom (with privacy sheers you can use while bathing). We did order room service, but they had to keep calling us back to confirm different parts of our order (and they ended up being out of the dessert I wanted), so it seems like some service kinks still need to be worked out. I thought the food was only okay (tomato soup way too salty). Although the fries my husband had with his burger were delicious, and my chicken was nicely roasted, I didn't think the high prices were worth the quality of the food we received. Overall, though, we enjoyed our stay and would go back. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice place"
The room was well appointed and quite comfortable. However, there was blackmold in the shower -- I don't believe there was an exhaust fan--the shower is large and roomy with good pressure and a great shower head. The goodies for the shower were quite nice and I truly enjoyed the little office pack. It was wonderful to come home from a long day at the […] conference to a well lit room witha botte of water and fruit snack--great bed turn down. I would like to see the hotel be a little more green. They promote their water filtration and processing--which was great ,however , towels do not need to be replaced twice a day--by the by--towels were rich and full. Lighting in the afternoon can be tempered-not all the lights need to be turned on. A couple of slip ups with service requests--asked for a pot of hot water for tea and it never appeared. (no coffee maker in room). Also, requested a spa time-told call back would be immediate--I needed to call again an hour later after no call had been returned. Otherwise, polite, helpful and friendly. Walking distance to the White House, well located. Quality, refined, tasteful design and decor. Very helpful staff and concierge. "Fantastic Washington Hotel"
Our stay at the Jefferson was wonderful from start to finish. The hotel staff were so helpful and friendly as the hotel was small and personal. "Luxury"
This hotel is fabulous. Beautifully decorated, luxurious finishes throughout, incredibly comfortable beds, superb bathrooms. My very minor gripe would be the size of the room - there wasn't much floor space around the huge bed - but that certainly didn't detract from my stay. The layout of the ground floor public rooms was a little strange, but none […] the worse for that. Quills bar was cozy and buzzy, with a great range of cocktails. We didn't have breakfast in house during our stay, but did dine in the restaurant one evening: cuisine quite 'haute' ... with prices to match. Staff were superb: helpful, unobtrusive, polite - consummate professionals. I can't fault any of them. The hotel's about 10 minutes (walking) north of the White House and while there isn't much that's 'touristy' in the very immediate vicinity, you can easily reach wherever you want to visit by Metro, taxi, on foot or (if you're lucky enough to time it right) via the hotel limo. We had a great stay and wouldn't hesitate to a) recommend this hotel to anyone or b) stay here again next time we're visiting DC. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Truly 5 Star!"
We arrived at the hotel after a long journey and were warmly welcomed. Every moment of our stay at the hotel has been fabulous. A short walk turning right out of the hotel and you are at The White House (8mins/4blocks away). The staff at the Jefferson are extremely knowledgeable and keen to be of service. You are always treated well without the stuffiness […] found in other 5 Star hotels. The hotel is wonderfully decorated and the room we stayed in oozed luxury. "Jefferson: friendliness and perfection at a price"
I enjoyed staying at the renovated Jefferson Hotel (vastly improved over my previous pre-renovation stay 4 years ago). I was pleased to be offered an upgrade in my room on arrival, and compliment all the staff on their faultless service. The hotel is 4 blocks from the White House and ideal for both a business and (high end) tourist stay. If I have a […] criticism it is that the rooms are small by American (but not European) standards and the public areas are also a little cramped - although very stylish. I will definitely be back....
