The condition of the room did not warrant the exorbitant rate. Rather than quaint and boutique it was more old "Marriott". So dissatisfied, checked out early and while at the front desk heard the clerk offer another guest a one night extension for less than half of what we were charged.

We liked everything about this hotel except the workout facilities (too small and completely packed early in the morning). Staff was helpful and friendly and recognized us each time we returned. Beds and pillows were outstanding. Room was large and comfortable. No charge for wifi! Fifth Floor restaurant was superb. We definitely plan to return.

Called in advance to ensure that the parking fee was reasonable. Was told that while there was a valet fee, there was free self-parking. So, I booked my reservation. When I got there, was surprised to find out that whether or not I used the self-parking or the valet, it was $45.00 dollars a night. A little pricey to say the least.

This was my first stay at a Kimpton property. The decor was cool and the room was large for a SF hotel room. The people at the front desk made us feel right at home as soon as we walked in. Requests for items we ordered to our room were brought so fast that we weren't even ready to open the door. I don't think I have ever seen such prompt service. The bar was nice and the bartenders were very cool to talk to. Valet brought the wrong car around at the end of the stay but overall this place was great!

I travel 30 weeks a year for business staying in major cities. This is an excellent hotel in the Kimpton chain - the room was spacious, services were timely and convenient. If you need to be in the area (or even if you don't mind cabbing it to other parts of the city) this is a great choice. The neighborhood has many good nearby restaurants and the hotel sits amid many high-end retail stores (Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, etc. - you know the neighborhood is good when the Four Seasons is a block away). Highly recommended for business travelers.

I was putting together a one night get away for my fiance and I. We both work and are very busy so I said let me find a hotel in the city and we could meet there after work. The room was very quiet (we asked for a inside room rather than street side). Internet worked perfectly for taking care of a little business. It was a couple block walk to Union square for dinner and shopping. Very nice hotel! There is one negative though. Prking was on the pricy side and because we met there we had two cars and was twice the fee... It won't stop us from comming back we will just plan better for the parking issue. The bottom line is the fiance was hapy so I was happy!

Great room for your money, but front desk needs improvements. I ask the gentleman that worked the front desk to please bring an extra cot three times, I felt like he was ignoring me on purpose. I had to be transferred to manager just to ask for a simple request. I only stayed 2 nights, but hotels service wasn't the greatest. I would rate it a 2.5 or 3 and rate the room a 4. (Room was very nice...definitely check out their Fifth Floor Lounge!)

We went to the SF Giants afternoon baseball game and we were able to walk. Otherwise the number 30 bus stops right at the hotel's doorstep and takes you within 2 blocks of the ball park. Shopping is right around the corner with some of SF's finest department stores and Union Suare within an easy 2 block walk.

All around top notch hotel, especially in cleanliness, service, and decor. Impressive art throughout the building. However, my standards are high for air quality, and this hotel did not measure up. Faint tobacco smoke odor in my room was enough to trigger a mild, temporary sore throat. Ventilation system may not have been upgraded with the last remodel or the room may still be impregnated with smoke odor from years of pre-smoking-ban exposure.

We got an amazing deal through hotels.com and thus spent three luxurious nights at the Hotel Palomar. I was upgraded to a king bed instead of two doubles, which was very nice. The room was spacious and very quiet (facing the courtyard). The bed was SO comfortable, I almost considered giving up a day of sightseeing to spend all day in bed! The staff were all very, very nice and professional. I ate breakfast once in the restaurant and while not cheap, was very good. The best blackberries I've ever had. The location can't be beat. It's essentially right on Market St., blocks from SFMOMA and many other attractions. There's also a great Walgreen's right around the corner and the Westfield shopping center is just down the street. Public transportation is right outside. I'm definitely staying here again on my next trip to SF.

Great location, nice and clean room but for the price small mistakes like billing error (charged for parking when didn't even have a car), not providing a new room service breakfast menu after using one, not having free amenities as indicated in hotel brochure (toothpaste, toothbrush) detract from a a full 5 star experience. It's still recommendable but I would also look at other hotels in the same price range for fun.
