We were impressed with the ambience, decor and value of this hotel. However, we did not realize that it was on the edge of a rough area of town. On our first night we walked to Union Square, but did not take the most direct route and we saw some interesting sights. I would recommend the hotel, but also recommend walking straight up Market to Union Square. Don't stray off the beaten path! Overall, it was a great experience.

This was my first experience at one of the newly renovated Best Western hotels. We were on a budget and I was very pleased with the value of this hotel. The rooms were nicely designed and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only downsides were that the room smelled like incense or something and the towels were pretty rough. I will definitely look for more re-designed Best Western hotels in the future!

We were a bit weary of this hotel because of some of the reviews on this site, but we took a chance and are very pleased we did! Stayed for 5 nights in our funky decorated clean and spacious room. Located toward the back ait was extremely quiet. Mattress was comfortable and there were the softest sheets. With an armchair to lounge in and a table with two chairs, it was nice to spend some time during the day when we needed a rest. The free Internet access was appreciated! Bathroom was small but clean. We appreciated the environmental focus like the wall mounted dispensers for soaps in the shower and that towels/bedsheets changed on request. There was complimentary coffee and muffins in the morning, and breakfast was available at the hotels close by. Not the most impressive breakfast, maybe, but there are lots of other places within walking distance. The location is very convenient. It is close to Civic center for BART travel (good for airport) and only 10 min walk from Union square. We basically walked everywhere as we are keen walkers. The area around the hotel is a bit rough, though. You will see people hanging around on the street and also people sleeping there. That said, we never experienced any aggressive or particularly intrusive behaviour. However, you want to be alert and fairly sober. In short: This is good value for money. I absolutely loved SF and will go again sometime. I will certainly consider staying in this hotel again!

He stated that he was going to check out it up top and never returned and it was never fix. the front desk apologized for the inconveniences, with no other incentives to stay again. Stayed there for a wedding weekend. The price you paid for the location and quality of the hotel was a bargain. Staff was courteous. Large clean rooms, not noisy. Parking available for a fee at the hotel was a huge plus. Within walking distance (15-20mins) of Union square, shops and restaurants. The only downsied was that the South of Market neighborhood has a fair amount of homeless but the seemed harmless, no bad interactions.

The neighborhood seemed shady the first night/was on the fringe of something, but safe w/good public transport 1 block away/nice point for starting a walking tour. Breakfast was cool/delivered to your room/nice touch. Staff was cool/building secure. It just was a let down from what I thought we'd booked. When we booked it was a 3 star bargin for 7 nights//Weeks later it was listed as a 2.5 star//Trust me it's a 2! Not the worse, but far from the best.

Overall, it was a great stay and we would do it again in a heartbeat.
