"Older hotel, wish i would have stayed elsewhere"
Pictures on the web site make the hotel look very nice, once in the room it smelled very musty. The hotel is older and has been cosmetically updated, but still smells funny. Once i checked in I was then told that there was an additional charge of $25.00 a day for parking. Hotel is poorly constructed you hear everything in the rooms around you and people […] walking on the catwalk through out the night. The hotel sits about 3 blocks south of the conference center i was going to. The surrounding neighbor hood was extremly dirty with people panhaneling, sleeping and deficating on the street. I would not recommend walking in the neighborhood at night. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"we just enjoy staying at Best Western !!"
It was Great!!! Thank you for your hospitality.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Overall pretty pleased"
The location is great. We got there a few hours before check in and our room was ready which was very convenient. Parking wasn't included though. $35 extra dollars per night. Our room was clean and comfortable. Take into account though that our room didn't have air conditioning and got quite stuffy at night. The tv didn't work. We called the lobby and […] they were willing to call to have it fixed, but we were just there one night. Staff lobby was extremely helpful and welcoming. Overall, for a one night trip, the location, and the price, I was overall happy and would keep it in the book as a possible place to stay at during a return. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
While the staff was extremely friendly, I found the recently renovated hotel to be in need of renovation! Don't let the pictures deceive you, the pipe to the emergency fire sprinklers which was sticking out of our wall was not part of their decorative "modern feel," I'm sure. In addition, there's only one elevator that works at night which can cause […] for a tad of congestion in the lobby. Luckily there is another, not so squeaky elevator that operates during the day (and takes you directly to the parking lot which can be rather convenient if you're lugging your bags back to your car). Since this isn't a traditional, all indoor hotel, I wouldn't reccommend it if you're expecting percipitation during your stay. If you're intending on using public transportation plan to wear comfy shoes on your trip because you're going to have to walk a few blocks before you can catch the MUNI (San Francisco's public transit). Other than that, the beds are okay, we always had fresh towels and the service was great! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Bad for business good for a vacation"
If you are traveling on business, its not ideal except for the location and the ease to get to public transport. The wifi is the worst I have experienced. Looks like this is a common complaint over the last year and the management has done nothing. Staff are great, facility is clean. Wouldnt stay here again though.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Needed it for the location"
If you need an inexpensive, just a hotel with clean sheets and a comfortable bed than this is where you go. It ain't fancy, it works. We've all stayed here before for the Macworld Show at Mascone. This is a rough neighborhood. As in all of SFO, has many homeless wandering around. There are two places to know about #1. For breakfast and lunch try Tony […] Baloney's 1098 Howard. Get a to-go lunch (fresh, cheap and soo much better than what they overcharge you for at Mascone). And #2. for dinner try the restaurant called Basil Thai at 1175 Folsom (go early it gets packed) that is very good and both are within walking distance of the hotel. "Low price for San Francisco but don't bring kids."
Not the roach motel but not the Hyatt either. Upon check in I was warned in no uncertain terms there was to be no partying of any type. When I returned to my room the first evening there was a group of about 12 women partying loudly in a room about 3 doors down from mine. Clearly the management does not enforce its own rules. When I got up the first […] morning I noticed there were no washcloths in the bathroom. I made do but when I left the hotel that morning I mentioned to the front desk I was concerned about the broken lock on my window and asked if it was their policy to provide washcloths. Amazingly the attendant at the front desk did not know if it was their policy to provide washcloths. When I returned to the hotel that evening the window had been repaired but there were still no washcloths. I went down to the front desk and asked for washcloths And after a few minutes they provided 2 Which I use to rock my stay because the housekeeping staff never supplied fresh ones when cleaning the room. This continued to be an issue throughout my stay of 4 nights. This next item is not the fault of the hotel the neighborhood is a bit unsavory. 1 evening when I returned to the hotel the police had blocked off a road 1 block away from the hotel. It appeared they were covering a body with a white sheet. Two nights later this happened again about 3 blocks from the hotel Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Overall the hotel was nice but I had to keep asking for supplies for my room. First there was no washcloth and the remote/TV didn't work. Then they never replenished the bathroom supplies or the hot tea/cups. Also, the hotel is in an area where I did not feel safe to go out after dark. "Close to our dinner/bar location"
After a night of drinking, it was nice to be able to walk back to our hotel and not have to get a cab. It was even close to Dottie's, a great breakfast location. I was told the neighborhood was very shady (and it was), but I didn't really feel threatened at all. I would definitely stay there again. Affordable and nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect for visit to SF attending Orpheum Theatre"
We stayed at this hotel with our 3 kids when we attended the Lion King performance at the Orpheum Theatre on December 16, 2012. I liked the modern amenities and decor throughout. The room was spacious (we had a "suite" with 2 double beds and a sofa bed. The kids complained about the bars and springs on the sofa bed, but otherwise the room was comfy. […] They have a heated pool, which was clean and nice and warm, but it was raining and cold the whole time, so we didn't use it. The staff was helpful and cheery and tolerated our three kids when they were acting out in the lobby. Overall, I recommend this hotel, although it isn't in the best part of SF, it is very close to the Orpheum Theatre. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
So many issues with this hotel...I would not go back. The room didn't seem clean, like they only wiped it down and didn't use cleaner. Our heater was broken (40 degrees and rainy outside...one of the closest nights in SF) and instead of moving us to a room that had a working heater, they brought us a space heater and an extra blanket. What!? Our room […] never fully heated up. Our bathroom reeked of smoke in a non smoking room. Every time we walked into the bathroom, the light and fan automaticlly turned on an blew smoke from a smoking room into ours. It filled our whole hotel room. Instead of sleeping in and enjoying our vacation, we got up early and left becuase the smell and coldness of the room. What a surprise it was to us when we arrived to the hotel. Apparently someone forgot to mention that there would be an additional $30 parking charge to stay at the hotel nightly. Or park your car outside the hotel where there is no parking!!!! So guess what park here for $30 or else!!! And to top all of I was told to park my car in the stall!!! Ruin […] my entire night. "Good hotel with family on a budget."
The bed mattresses were very hard. Our room was very stuffy, especially in the bathroom area. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I really loved the style of the hotel. Very friendly service. Should put microwaves and mini refrigerators in some rooms. Shower was very low flow. But other than that one of the better hotels I've stayed at in SF.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Our stay was fantastic. We were close to everywhere we wanted to go visit. Muni was just up the street for places that were just a little farther away that we didn't want to walk to. Great stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Better than the carriage inn accross the street. Nothing special. Cool decor in the rooms. No a/c though:( friendly staff. Located off civic center Bart stop, but a pretty sketchy neighborhood.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Bit pricey for the location and hotel type"
My check-in experience was not too great (slow staff and long lines). However, the room itself was good. Looks like the place has been recently renovated and the it's pretty clean. I have to say that next time I'm booking a hotel room, I'd be more careful of the location. This one was not close to anything SF spots, even though the map shows otherwise. "Hotel on the cheaper side near the center of S. F,"
Poor and possible dangerous part of town--many homeless and drugs. No AC, just a ceiling fan and it was hot a couple of days. Small tv, few toiletries. I liked this hotel, very hip, creative, and modern room. I arrived right at 3pm when check-in began, so it was madness in the entrance. "An unexpected gem"
Looking like a motel that has its parking underneath instead of around, I had modest expectations. The location was great - a short walk from the Civic Center BART, the front desk crew was efficient and pleasant, adn the price was reasonable. But it was the look of the room that was a surprise - modern, crisp, clean, a bit funky. Not motel-like at all!The […] only small complaint, the cleaning crew doesn't realize how voices carry in the courtyard. "Good location for transportation"
Location and room size are the only two good things going for this hotel. It's ideally located close to public transportation if you are going to use it like me. It's only a couple of short blocks to the Civic Center Bart Station which makes getting back and forth from the airport a breeze and dirt cheap compared to taxis. Also same distance from major […] bus lines. Bart Station and bus lines all located on Market Street, two blocks away. Room was very big and had a good heating system for the cold SF nights but that's about all that was good about it. Very old and extremely noisy. I was next to an interior courtyard, like most of the rooms. The hotel brags about this but it's very noisy when people congregate in the courtyard at the tables late at night to drink and raise h... Kept me up two nights. Also could hear everything in the next room and when someone in the room above me walked across the floor it sounded like they were coming through my ceiling. The bathroom vanity and sink are located outside the bathroom with very good counter space, good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The rest of the bathroom was in a cubbyhole that you couldn't even turn around in. Talk about claustrophobia! My bed sloped to one side and I couldn't sleep on my right side without feeling like I was going to roll off the bed. The alarm clock REQUIRES an iPod or iPhone to have an alarm. Very dissapointing - lobby dreadful, room horrible, they have the nerve to charge guests (excessive rates no less) for parking - and they scratched up my rental car! Room was tiny for three people - beds too small.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Awful area to stay but good rooms and cleanliness"
bad location, we drove around the block to re park our car (in the lot which charged $25 to our room for) and we saw two people getting arrested on one side of the block and around the corner, a fist fight was breaking out. "Noisiest Hotel EVER!"
When we first arrived the hotel seemed to be nice. We arrived at our room and the sofa bed did not have extra sheets, although they did have a fitted sheet on there with a nice big black hair on it. We asked for clean sheets and they did deliver them. Considering I had booked a room for 3 adults and 2 children, there were no extra towels so I had to […] request those. We were staying for two nights and the first night, Friday night, was dreadful. The noise from this hotel is appalling. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything, but you can also hear people walking to their rooms outside and then if they hang out in the courtyard, you can hear that too. Despite filling in forms stating we would have no additional guests or not bring any outside people to the hotel, others did just that and had a party in the courtyard. At 2pm a total stranger who looked strung out on drugs knocked on our door and seemed surprised to see me there, obviously expecting someone else. We were assured that this was a one off and Saturday night would be quieter. It was, slightly, but still very noisy. I have stayed in a lot of hotels, some good, some bad, but this was the worst for noise ever and I would NEVER ever stay here again. Neighborhood is not great either, especially if you walk up to Mission and Market Streets. Avoid!!!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Solid hotel, terrible front desk service"
The hotel itself and the room were fine; pretty much what you'd expect for a Best Western with a San Francisco twist (funky 70s decor). The front desk staff, however, were unbelievably rude and slow. When we arrived at 7:00 on a Thursday evening, the two guys at the desk were both with customers, so I got in line... and stood there for 15 minutes while […] the two clerks fussed around (and around) with a couple of entirely routine check-ins. I was pretty quiet when it was finally my turn at the counter, but I couldn't help myself when the clerk started bragging to me about how he'd "upgraded me for free" to a king room. I told him thanks, but I reserved a king room. He told me, quite rudely, "No you didn't." When I responded that yes, I had, and I had a printout of my reservation in the car, he said "Well, if you want to waste your time arguing, go ahead." He was so rude that I was afraid he'd stick us with double beds or something if I pursued the point any further, so I just stood there and let him finish the 10-minute process of checking us in. By the time we got into our room it had been 30 minutes from the time we pulled up in our car. Worst front-desk performance ever. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
