This might be the nicest hotel based right on the ocean at Ocean Beach. The staff was very helpful, the room immaculate, and the location second to none. I've stayed at a number of hotels in the area, but I won't stay anywhere but here in the future. You can't go wrong with an ocean front suite!

We needed a last min getaway for a few days to unwind and enjoy a romantic getaway. The hotel staff was awesome very friendly made us common folk feel like celebrities. Great service location and atmosphere . If your dog people you will love this hotel very pet friendly. We will be staying here again and bring our dog as well . The ac in the room was a lil uncopertive however the weather was perfect so not much use was needed. Room service food was great small portions but very tasty. Location is great have drinks on the. 9 h floor lounge and what the game from a spectacular view.

Spent just two days in S.D. and had never stayed at this Best Western before. We were very pleased with a quiet location in front of the harbor, a clean and comfortable room, and a large screen TV with great quality image. I was also pleased that they do not charge for parking as other hotels in San Diego do. I would definitely stay there again.

The staff is very friendly. The hotel is on the marina, so it is fun to watch boats come and go while dining in the restaurant (excellent clam chowder). Try to get a room that is not next to the outside wooden staircase because you will hear everyone's coversation as they tromp up or down. The Best Western Island Palms is GORGEOUS!!! The staff is was friendly, pleasant, and always smiling. They allowed us to check in 3 hours early :) The view on either side of the hotel is BREATHTAKING! The food is delicious, BEST breakfast!!! The price could not be beat! I will def be back to book in the future.

My daughter and I traveled here for two days for a fun break. I upgraded to one of the Marina view suites, so that we could have separate bedrooms and a nice rest. While the staff was incredibly helpful with all of my inquiries and requests, I found that the hotel was fairly loud. The picture on Internet made the room look bigger than it was in person. I found the staff very friendly and helpful. You had a dry cleaning service available which came in handy. I loved the Marina view. The security guard was helpful when I couldn't get the card to work. I wish your shuttle was available for later hours. Really enjoyed the stay.

this hotel was very nice. The view of the harbor was great. There was a park right across the street. It was very convenient. Easy driving to Old Town, the Cabrillo Monument and close to the airport. The food was delicious. I would definitely stay here again.
"Convinient hotel for family trip"
The microwave stove and refrigerator are handy when you travel with family. The harbor view is priceless at night. It also advised to walk along the coastline in the morning. The stores and restaurants near the island are economic for family trip.

Great location, friendly staff, room not that fancy but it satisfied my need. Love the marina view in the back of the hotel. Lovely sidewalk in front of the hotel. Wifi Internet is extremely fast.

"Loved It. I would stay here again."
The kids and I were there for two nights. The staff was so nice. We got a free room upgrade. We had a balcony and a view of the marina. I would reccommend it to family and friends.

Loved our stay - great location - excellent service - very nice staff - lovely view. Only complaint is there was only 1 smal mirror in bath only - no full length or mirror located outside of bath which would be nice to use when someone else is in shower. Hotel is in great central location on Shelter Island. Close to everything. Good hotel for young kids. 2 pools and lots of grassy area and playground across the street for them to play and run around. Casa Marina bldg was great with view of marina from balcony on second floor. Very quiet location. Restaurant on site was good. Only downside was the energy […] efficient refrigerators in the room. One in room did not work. Had to get replaced by maintenance. But the one that worked wasn't too cold...only acted more like a cooler. "Better than expected"
The room had a nice, clean feel to it, we had a view of the ocean from our room, which was not expected. The staff was very friendly, all with the hotel, bar, and restaurant. A very memorable weekend. Will definitely book at this hotel again.

"Extremely pleased"
I loved this hotel! I haven't stayed at this type of Best Western before and was very pleased. The room was very clean and quiet. The grounds and location were very nice, and landscaping around my room was lush and tropical. I was very impressed by the courteous staff, from front desk to wait staff in the restaurant and bar, and even housekeeping staff […] were pleasant and helpful. Food and service at the restaurant is very good. I had been directed to a local landmark steak/seafood restaurant by several people, and thought the hotel's food was better. Their happy hour and happy hour food is also worth it, and the view of the Marina from the bar is lovely. The only suggestions: my shower head was an old water pike style and a wimpy way to start the day. The other suggestion is that they upgrade their laundry detergent. The scent on clean towels was very hospital /institutional sanitary smelling. Neither of those detracted from my stay and I will stay there again if ever back in San Diego! Read more

Hard to beat the location being on a narrow strip with water on two sides but in the rooms themselves you can hear everything your neighbors are doing and if you are on the first floor and want to walk from your porch to your car you to walk through plants - done by many prior guests - AEB the stomped down ivy, etc. - so you'd think management would […] have caved and put in mini walkways but it hasn't happened. We arrived a little late, the Staff was very nice but very professinal, we went to the room and were really surprised at how clean and nice it was . We were going to leave and go to dinner but elected to stay and eat dinner at the resturant on the grounds. It to was good . I would higly recommend. Hotel was better suited than expected.
Our room had a few bugs in it. And the bed frame was broken, causing the bed to lean to one side. Will not stay there again.

"GREAT Customer Service"
When we booked the room we called hotels.com to make sure we had two beds in our room for us and our 17-yr-old son. When we checked in, we got a king size bed and a roll-away. There was barely space for the roll-away to fit next to the king bed, so we called and complained. The manager came down right away with keys to another room with two beds. upon […] entering, it was obvious the building was being remodeled with the smell of materials and debris on the toilet seat. Called the front desk again to go back to the other room. Instead, they upgraded us to the family suite for all the trouble! "Comfort with a great view"
We loved our stay at this hotel. We loved our view and how comfortable our room was. They give you free bike rentals which is awesome if you want to ride around the island. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely stay here again.

the Iland Palms was located very close to Downtown, the airport and all beach locations. we had a nice view of the marina from our Balcony and it was very quiet. We would go back.

My wife, 2 year old and infant spent the weekend at this hotel. It is in a great location. Scenic views of the marina and very safe. The rooms are nice, not fancy but not dingy either. The staff was very nice and helpful. We went to Sea World and the Zoo while we were in San diego and the drive to each place was just under 15 minutes. Very convienient. […] I'd stay here again. Very nice large faculity - room was desinged for a view of harbor. But our room was on first floor and trees and cars covered the great view. This place has about 5 buildings so I am not sure if all of the rooms are the same qualtiy . "good vacation"
Very nice hotel, the staff was extremely nice as well. Location is beautiful, and not to far from Seaworld. The staff even recommended a great harbor cruise near by. Will definitely stay here next time we come to San Diego.

"Hotel in in San Diego marina"
The location of this hotel was perfect, only 15 mins from the heart of the city. Unlike many of the hotels in San Diego there was no parking fee which I found could vary from $15 - $25 in other hotels. It is located in a beautiful picturesque area of the city with a lovely marina right out side our door. In the morning there were ducks walking on the […] grass next to room. The one thing that I feel could have been better was the friendliness of the deck staff. We felt treated like we were a unfortunate distraction to their work rather than welcomed. Read more
