Best Western Plus Island Palms Hotel & Marina - San Diego

Deluxe rooms in very good condition. Drinks and food at reasonable prices. Nice marina view. Beach in walk distance. Downtown in 25 usd cab ride distance. Breakfast a la carte, but reasonable. Very friendly staff.

The weather was bad but the hotel was in a very nice place. Need the TV to be 2 feet higher and and electric fan has only one speed, which is high. All and all, even though the room was facing the restaurant, the place is awesome.

Perfect personsl getaway! The staff was very accommodating and pleasant. The location was safe, secure, easy to get to from anywhere in San Diego and had a nice lounge/ restaurant on site. I would definitely stay again!

Good location for San Diego area, plenty of restuarants within walking distance and great areas to view the harbor and Coranado Island. Rooms are very clean and the staff friendly, good hotel choice for a San Diego visit.

After a long drive from Northern California with our 4 year old son, we were greeted by Kyle (that happens to be our son's name too) and he was just wonderful. He was able to accomodate our request for a quiet room with a view of the water & boats. The hotel was conveniently located to everything and across the street from the hotel was a pier that […] locals would fish or crab from. We would take our son there a few times during our 6 nights stay. Also, they had a security guard walking the parking lot every night which made us feel so much safer. The standard room didn't have enough light in it and the kids were so loud in the next room. The people at the front desk were very helpful and got us a sweet and only for 40 more dollars for the two nights after that everything was wonderful .

Convenient to Cabrillo NM, which was a highlight, and beautiful views of the harbor and Coronado Island/Downtown. Room was immaculately clean and overlooked the beautiful boats in the harbor. Everything was wonderful with beautiful surrondings. I was so glad that the pools were heated, because the weather was a bit chilly - this was a big plus. The bay is right across the street and they even had bikes and I took my kids for a morning bike ride - very nice. We were pleasantly surprised at how fantastic the hotel was. We stayed in the newer Del Mar building with a marina view. The room was ample, tastefully decorated and very clean. It was nicely equipped with all you would expect--coffee maker, refrigerator and even microwave. The staff was very gracious and helpful, especially Danny, who checked us in […] and helped us check out the free bikes and helmets and the free tennis equipment. The Best Western island Palms was a beautiful place to hang your hat for a few days. The surroundings are breathtaking and serene. A water view from front or back of the hotel. I would stay there every time I go to San Diego not question. Don't pass up this gem.

The hotel was very quiet, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I noticed there was not enough forks in the drawer, there was only one, no cutting knives if we wanted to cook in the suite. The suite was very comfortable. We would definetly stay again . thank you.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights in March and we couldn't be happier with our choice. The location is on Shelter Island, which is right near naval areas. During the day you could really hear the Navy Helicopters, but that didn't bother me at all. I was loving the fact that I could have the patio door open, listen to the seagulls and see the […] ocean all from my room. I was hanging out while the hubby golfed. We also went to Seaworld and the San Diego Zoo, which was amazingly close. We didn't drive more than 10 mins to get anywhere, most of the time it was closer to 5. The hotel room was wonderful. It was spacious had 2 queen beds, a large flat screen tv and a mini fridge. The bathroom was "huge" when it comes to hotel rooms. We had more than enough room to get ready in the morning. I would recommend this location to anyone and I would stay here again mayself. I am so glad that I found this hotel! Read more

Great views but hpousekeeping would wake you at 8-9 every morning and don't get the first floor rooms, not any privacy with the patio doors open. There is a walk path right outside your patio on one side and obstructed view on the other. Get a 2nd or 3rd floor room. Very good restaurant though.

It was great! The only thing we had trouble with was having the pool right next to our room. There were some really loud kids and parents (our kids were sleeping) shouting in the pool area. Other than that, a great hotel!

Transportation to and from airport or cruise ship port. The hotel was a vacation atmosphere in the middle of everything. Facilites were excellent, food was good and service was very good and freindly. Look forward to a repeat visit fos a longer stay.

Beautiful location on Shelter Island with views of the Bay and great for walking or jogging. Fairly quiet as there is not much more of the Island so limited traffic. Buildings are separate groups and beginning to show their age but most rooms are very nice and large. We have stayed here before, and look forward to our next visit. The location and view is wonderful. Amenities are good and comparable to the area. Onsite restaurant has always been a favorite but apparently a new chef needs to refine his skills. My husband loved his dish although the grilled fish tasted burnt possibly due to a dirty grill?? My fillet […] mignon had the same burnt taste, my mashed potatoes had too much garlic, and my sauce did not compliment the meal. The restaurant did give a 20% discount, which was a pleasant surprise. They did ask why I didn't eat most of my meal. The only suggestion, ask if you are staying next door to a family with an infant as this kept us up after a long day out and about. Read more
