"Consistency. You can depend on it."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Finding a "GOOD THING" these days can get harder and harder. For this reason when you come across a 'good thing" it is priceless. One of the most recent "good things " that I have come across is the PARAMOUNT hotel in Times Square. The first thing that I leave the hotel impressed by is the professionalism and commitment that is demonstrated by the staff. Starting with the front desk where I was checked in by Catherine and continuing until the driver which I received at the hotel hands me my luggage at the airport. Catherine followed the details of my visit until the moment I checked out. The only dislike that I had which eventually i got over was the view of the alley where the boiler or some loud machine was placed. I know that from now on I will request a room that faces anywhere but there. If you are going to New York and plan on taking in Broadway there could not be a more perfect location. I love this hotel so much I find myself wanting to travel to NYC more. I cannot wait until my next visit to the PARAMOUNT which I hope will be in the next few weeks.

We had a very good time and the hotel was close to work.

Very nice hotel, within walking distance to subway for access to Manhattan (take the 7 or E and you can get to grand central, times square, penn station). Just a few blocks to local restaraunts. The room was very clean, excellent staff, free shuttle to subway. Overall an excellent place to stay if your touring new york city. One note, if you are considering a "view room" save your money, the view is obstructed by a number of taller buildings (the hotel is only 7 floors). Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely stay again, especially at the rate because of the new hotel discount. If you plan to take a cab from the hotel call one yourself because the service the hotel uses charges a flat rate to specific areas and you can get a cab on your own for cheaper generally.

Let the West Coast have Hollywood; Broadway’s lights are just as bright, and many screen actors come to the Great White Way to gain acting credibility. Area attractions include Carnegie Hall, Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, and the Museum of Modern Art. Resplendent St. Patrick’s Cathedral takes up a block at Fifth and 50th. Once seedy, Times Square now hosts ABC, MTV, and NASDAQ.

"The Sofitel Hotel (Midtown)"
The hotel was located close to the theater district and just a few blocks from Times Square. The staff was very professional and helpful and there are numerous restaurant options close by. We would gladly stay here again in the future.

"Lovely hotel"
We were there last weekend for my husband's 50th b-day. Everything was perfect and then some. They upgraded up to a one bedroom suite which was phenomenal (and they didn't know it was his b-day at this point). I did happen to mention to an employee that my husband's b-day was the next day and they were kind enough to send a slice of yummy cake and chocolate […] covered strawberries to our room with happy birthday written in chocolate on the plate. The bathroom and toiletries were exceptional as well. Only regret is that we didn't try the restaurant. Too busy running around. I should note that the chef did win Chopped so if you are a fan of the show you should check it out. Also the concierge recommended a very good Family Style Italian rest. for us that was kid friendly; food was delish! Tony DiNapoli's - was close to hotel. Highly recommend it. We also really enjoyed The Red Flame Diner close to the hotel. For best NY cheesecake you must try Juniors near Toys r Us in Times Square too!!! Read more
absolutely delighted, great hotel, beautiful ambiance, cozy, clean, excellent service, lovely rooms, overall 5 out of 5
"Sofitel Hotel Times Square"
We were thrilled from the first minute we walked into the Sofitel lobby. It was a stunning Art Deco style with beautiful fresh flowers all around. They staff were always friendly and helpful. The room was really nicely decorated and had everything we needed. If we asked for anything we got it immediately. There wasn't a real view but that was ok because […] it was quiet being in the middle of the block. The hotel was close to everything. There's a Starbucks 2 doors down. We were 2 blocks from Time Square and about an equal distance from The Chrysler building, Grand Central Station,Rockafeller Center and St Patrick's. Close enough to get there easily. I can't think of one thing I would change. This hotel was perfect and I highly recommend it. Quiet, classy, clean and friendly. PERFECT. Read more

"Sofitel NYC is the place to stay!"
I was in NYC for a pleasure trip with my 16 yr. old daughter, celebrating her birthday. I've stayed in 2 other hotels on other trips to NYC, and the Sofitel is by far my favorite. We took a red eye flight to NYC, and arrived at the hotel at 7 a.m. I was expecting to have to wait until check-in time to get into our room, but we were pleasantly surprised […] when we were able to occupy our room right then. All staff are warm and gracious, greeting you each time you leave or arrive. The concierge was extremely helpful and pleasant. The hotel restaurant, Gaby, is pricey, but the service was impeccable. A waiter took our picture for us when I told him we were celebrating my daughter's 16th birthday. Later that night, when we returned to our room after a show, we found a beautiful plate of French desserts with "Happy Birthday" written in chocolate on the plate - it had to be that nice waiter. The lobby is filled with beautiful fresh flowers, and the ambience is very European. We heard many languages being spoken by guests and staff alike. It was a wonderful experience for my daughter. On top of everything, the location is perfect - between 5th and 6th avenues. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Read more
This review is based on expectations from the ratings we read before our trip. Nice hotel, but nothing special. Stayed at the Millenium last year for a similar rate and would reccommend that before here based on it being closer to time square and just as nice in our opinion. Upon check-in we were told we had a nice room on a higher level floor that […] wasn't quite ready for us, and then when we returned later in the day to get our room keys they had us on the 4th floor. Needless to say we didn't have a view, but may not have had one on the original floor we had been told either(would have had a better chance of it at least). Overall a very nice hotel, but we expected more by the ratings it received. Read more

"Great stay"
We had a great stay at the Sofitel. From check in to check out everything was top notch. Location is great and hotel is classy and friendly. Will definitely stay here next time Intravel to NY
beautiful hotel. small mistake in wake up call at 5 am. ouch.
"Great location, clean hotel"
The hotel was in a really great location in midtown - close to Rockefeller Center and transportation. The hotel was very clean and modern and the staff was friendly. I would definitely stay here again.
Was told i was getting jacuzzi...did not...in fact, the water was green in the tub i did get...complained...they laughed and told me that is new york. hotel was nice but dont go for tub room.
"Disappointing - mediocre at best"
Service lacks sincerity. Stayed for a couple of nights for a family celebration. Leaky bathroom pipes resulted in drenched carpet/floor. If you are considering picking this hotel for its location, be forewarned that it's located on a street where cabs don't go through that often (we learned it the hard way). Overall, regretted staying here -we've had […] much better experiences at lesser priced hotels in NYC. Read more

"Wonderful."
We could smell cigarret smoke from next room around our bedboard, closet, and bathroom. Sounds from neighboring rooms were not really sound proof. We could hear a baby crying all night. We didn't hear any from outside, though. Otherwise, we loved the hotel. We loved how freindly and helpful the staff were, how beautiffuly fresh floweres were arrange […] in the lobby area, and how the room and bathroom were layed out. Nice hotel. They even had a fresh orchid in our bathroom. We will stay here whenever we come back to NY. Read more
We had a wonderful time. They had a room ready for us when we arrived from a red eye flight and allowed us a late check out which was very helpful. They assisted us in our plans and always with kindness. The room was very nice as well.
"Won't even think of staying anywhere else."
Of all my expenses in New York, this was the best bang for the buck. Friendly and professional staff made everything right from check in to check out. Had a wonderful dinner in the restaurant. Bed was ultra comfortable. Spacious room was an oasis from the hustle and bustle of the city life. First class hotel!
"The Sofitel in NYC"
The rooms were a great size for NYC. The beds were SO amazingly comfortable. LOVED the bathroom and shower. LOVED the location. The restaurant was delicious and the staff were SO friendly and helpful. LOVED the location too. I would stay there again in a minute!!!!!
"Sofitel"
Hard to beat the Sofitel if you can get a good rate. 2 blocks east of Times Square, provides you with easy access to all Broadway shows and is well located for 5th ave. shoping. The rooms are very nice sized (for NY) and the bedding is very confortable. The bathrooms are marble and have both a glass shower and bathtub. Nice storage and true HD TV (for […] some channels). Strongly recommend the pre-theater meal ($55) a few blocks away at Aureole Restaurant (42nd St.). Read more
"Sofitel New York"
Nice hotel, good staff. Stayed there for New Year's Eve but I did not know that in order to enter Times square we'd have to buy tickets for about 350 bucks. If you stay in a Hotel in the same side as Times Square, you'll have access to the street that lead to Times square at no cost.
"Great Hotel for Broadway and Times Square"
The Sofitel is a great hotel for anyone wanting to visit Times Square or see a Broadway Show. The quality of the hotel and its proximity to the Theater District is a huge plus. Although we left on Jan 31st and just missed the New Years Eve celebration, the crowds at Times Square were already very large. While only two blocks from Times Square, it was […] just far enough away to escape the noise and madness of the crowds; while still close enough to easily walk to all of the local venues. Moreover, our room, the hotel amenities and service were excellent. Read more

"not quite"
aesthetic of hotel is modern and attractive, and slightly curving hallways, dimly lit halls and subtle colors are very appeasing. noise insulation of rooms is excellent, but room size is inhibiting. service is less than what one would expect of a property such as this: the principal concierge makes minimal effort, hardly anyone speaks french, except […] for bonzour, and the maitre 'd in the restaurant hardly speaks any english either. free 24 hour internet on 3 lobby comps is a big attraction. the ghost of DSK is perrvasive. overall would say experience is pleasant, but we expected something extraordinary, especially for the price. "Wonderful people, great hotel"
We really enjoyed the Sofitel. I can't think of any negatives.
"Sofitel - accommodations and staff are the best"
The accommodations were very nice from the hotel lobby to our room and the each member of the staff that we encountered was very polite and accommodating. A really great experience.
"One can do better in the neighborhood"
It is a question of taste, I suppose, but I prefer other hotels in this area and price range. Staff is cordial and helpful. Phone service is at times slow and very inefficient -- incoming callers have trouble reaching guests. The business center is inadequate for a hotel that caters to this clientele. The hotel restaurant food is a bit lacklustre, although […] the service was impeccable and the waiter did his best. This is a top-flight hotel that needs a little help to get on track. Read more
"Sofitel Hotel"
We had a good stay, room was clean and updated, nice shower head. Great location between 5th and 6th ave.
"Sofitel NYC - Made us feel important"
We were impressed from the first moment we pulled up. The service was superior. The hotel manager remember our names throughout the weekend and said hello every time he saw us always asking if there was anything he could do to make our stay better. I have stayed at a number of higher end hotels and would recommend this hotel as one of the best.
