If you can get a deal with breakfast included, take it! The cafe is adorable and the breakfast starts with a big basket of croissants and pastries PLUS you get to order anything off the menu and it's delicious! I complained that my shower's hot water wasn't hot enough and it was fixed immediately. The only issue I had was with cell phone service: the hotel is T-Mobile hot spot-wired and my ATT iphone wouldn't work...could T-Mobile be blocking other signals?

We had a great stay at the Sofitel New York (near Times Square). The hotel was convenient to all parts of the entertainment and shopping districts. The hotel staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. They helped us with reservations and with recommendations. The room was sufficiently large, and was in perfect condition when we returned each evening - even with complimentary bottles of water waiting on us. The hotel's adjoining restaurant, the Gaby Bar & Restaurant, was a very good compliment. Considering other hotel choices in the area, I would highly recommend the Sofitel.

All the staff was very nice and friendly. They even gave us a chocolate cake for our anniversary. The bed was very comfortable and we had a nice view of the empire state building. I would definetly recommend this hotel to anyone.

My wife and I travel to New York at least once a year and have stayed in many of the city's better hotels. For the past four or five years, the Sofitel is our #1 choice. We love the rooms, the lobby, the beds, the bathrooms and the service. More important for us, the location is terrific. Close to Times Square and the theatres, but not right in the "madness" of Times Square. You can also walk right around the corner for some of the best shopping in the city. I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel was nice , the room just fine. The location good. Our only complaint is that unlike other 4 stars hotel where we have stayed Sofitel did not offer any anemities, like a happy hours, with small hors-d'oeuvre for their custumers to relax; all they had is a free cup of coffee in the morning in the bar area. Well even a one star hotel offers that. I am French and we decided to stay at Sofitel because it was offering a French ambiance, they said. I did not see a French newspaper at our door, or a women magazines in French. A $34 dollars for a breakfast with rolls, one of which being a little French croissant not even warm is a bit weak. Sincerely , P. G. Vitez.

I would love to stay there again. Bed was comfortable, bathroom clean and the room a nice size. Floors were average clean, but I could overlook that even though I am a germaphobic! We were confused about the duvet. We have been to Europe, but have not encountered no top sheet. Overall, it is the best place without being pretentious that we have ever stayed. I booked this hotel as a "Welcome Reward"--and what a treat it was. The room was large, elegant and modern without being overdone. The room was super quiet and peaceful. Hard to believe you are in Midtown. The bed was as comfortable as any I have slept in. The marble bathroom with separate shower and tub was great. The staff was courteous, efficient and friendly and never pretentious. Within minutes I got the "Do Not Disturb" sign I requested. (Later I found there actually was one in the room.) My request for a later check out was honored. The room came with breakfast. The restaurant is lovely and the food was great. A few negatives--though there is a fitness room, there is no wet area or access to one in another facility;there is no coffee maker in the room; and a hotel like this should provide free wireless internet. Overall this is a beautiful luxury hotel. It was a joy to have the opportunity to stay there.

The only downside is there were no available suites so our family (of four) required two rooms.

Second time I stayed at Sofitel. First time I was blown away, it was amazing; I didn't want to go home. This time, slightly different story. There were annoying little things, nothing horrible, but things that keep a good hotel from being great. For example, there was no soap. The safe didn't work. I was told there was a bottle opener in the room (which there wasn't) and when I asked for one to be brought up it never was. There was a big empty space in the room where a chair clearly used to be...but the chair was no longer there. Like I said, small things in all but things that keep a hotel from being special. I'll come back and give them another chance in the hope that my next stay will be like my first -- flawless.

The Sofitle is a quiet modern hotel tucked between 44th and 45 th streets within 100 yards of 5th Avenue shopping. It has good access to Times Square and local restaurants and is close to main attractions in mid-town. The rooms are mid-size, modern and spacious. It is one of the few hotels in New York with decent size baths as opposed to the ubiquitous US-style shower tubs. The bar is good but the restaurant is of a standard hotel type rather than being an independent destination though it is a favourite for business breakfats.
