"Times Square Nugget"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed for a week and were glad to find a hotel right in the heart of Times Square. The service was definitely top notch! The front desk was courteous and the concierge was very helpful, recommending great shows and restaurants. Our room was nice. It could've been a little larger. But the bathroom was a good size and the size of the TV's and the fact that they played HD was a bonus. Also, the bed was quite comfortable. The cleaning staff did a fine job of keeping up the room. I'll definitely recommend this hotel to others.
"Consistency. You can depend on it."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
Finding a "GOOD THING" these days can get harder and harder. For this reason when you come across a 'good thing" it is priceless. One of the most recent "good things " that I have come across is the PARAMOUNT hotel in Times Square. The first thing that I leave the hotel impressed by is the professionalism and commitment that is demonstrated by the staff. Starting with the front desk where I was checked in by Catherine and continuing until the driver which I received at the hotel hands me my luggage at the airport. Catherine followed the details of my visit until the moment I checked out. The only dislike that I had which eventually i got over was the view of the alley where the boiler or some loud machine was placed. I know that from now on I will request a room that faces anywhere but there. If you are going to New York and plan on taking in Broadway there could not be a more perfect location. I love this hotel so much I find myself wanting to travel to NYC more. I cannot wait until my next visit to the PARAMOUNT which I hope will be in the next few weeks.
"Another Good Experience"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
My wife and I have stayed at the Courtyard in Mahwah three of the last four years to attend the NEAF astronomy show at the Rockland Community College in Suffern, just a few minutes away. We've always had good a experience and this stay was no different. The recent renovations definitely spruced the hotel up. The pool and spa area was nice, although the acoustics in the room left my ears ringing after a group of children in the pool were not using their "indoor voices." Our room was very clean, everything worked well, including the internet connection (which is a wired connection) and having a Dunkin Donuts right next door makes a stay here worthwhile in my humble opinion! Just grab a coffee and a bagel sandwich and go. The rates are competitive with other hotels in the area. If someone on here rates the hotel low, they must be comparing it to a five-star city hotel or maybe a destination resort. It's not that, but it is a clean and decent place to stay while traveling for business or short-term pleasure. I believe we will stay there again next year.

We had a very good time and the hotel was close to work.

Very nice hotel, within walking distance to subway for access to Manhattan (take the 7 or E and you can get to grand central, times square, penn station). Just a few blocks to local restaraunts. The room was very clean, excellent staff, free shuttle to subway. Overall an excellent place to stay if your touring new york city. One note, if you are considering a "view room" save your money, the view is obstructed by a number of taller buildings (the hotel is only 7 floors). Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely stay again, especially at the rate because of the new hotel discount. If you plan to take a cab from the hotel call one yourself because the service the hotel uses charges a flat rate to specific areas and you can get a cab on your own for cheaper generally.

This New York hotel does not have its own restaurant, but there are numerous dining choices within the surrounding area, particular along Broadway, Columbus Avenue, and Amsterdam Avenue. Zabar's, Manhattan's famous food emporium, is a seven-block stroll. It's a great place to pick up snacks or a full meal, and also includes an inexpensive café.

Who needs a fitness center when you’re a short walk from 2 of New York’s best parks? At Central Park, a half-mile east, miles of trails offer breathtaking views of the surrounding skyscrapers. Popular walking and running routes include Central Park Drive (closed to traffic during scheduled hours), the path around the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir, and the Ramble, which is also known for bird-watching. You can also rent a bicycle or rowboat at the boathouse. Or, if you’re visiting in winter, go for a spin on the park’s Wollman Rink; skate rentals are available. Buildings crane above one another to claim views of Central Park, a piece of real estate valued at more than $528 billion. Surprises abound in its 843 acres. The grounds include a castle, a zoo, several lakes, and an Egyptian obelisk. A city that never sleeps needs its quiet time, too: Central Park has six designated “quiet zones,” including Strawberry Fields, the monument to John Lennon.

Will return! CLEAN. Small scale hotel!
"Small and clean"
Tiny room at a decent price. Loud air fan. Good location. Very clean. A little noisy with hard wood corridors.

"close to all mayor atracions"
It was good the rooms are a bit too small but it's Manhattan!!!!! Tumbs up
"Great Hotel"
Small room, but very clean and great location. Would definitely come back.
"Extremely small uncarpeted rooms But Clean"
Look, the hotel is clean and convenient to many of the attractions on the Upper West Side. That said, the rooms are shoe-boxes (I could almost reach both side walls with my arms laying on my bed and there must have been at most two feet between the end of the bed and the wall where there doors for the bathroom (also quite tiny and a bit difficult to […] navigate) and the closet). Further, the hallways are very narrow. And neither the rooms nor the hallways are carpeted, so you hear everything (including some concert outside that seemed to be going on until 2 AM one night). Not for me after a hard day of work in the city. However, if I was a frugal (student?) traveler coming to NYC, I probably wouldn't mind much. Read more
"Great hotel for a short trip!"
Wonderful!
"Can you say "noisy shoebox"?"
Ok, here goes. This place is terrible. No matter what anyone else says, beware! The room was smaller than my bathroom. It was so small and so noisy that my wife finally said, id rather drive home, and about 6AM, that is just what we did. Noisy halls, elevators, some freaking buzzing sound about every 20 minutes or so. Doors slamming, and every other […] noise you could imagine, all night long. We also heard no street noise, just hotel noise. Please do yourself a favor! Be afraid. Be very afraid. Don't stay here. Read more

Cozy and pretty, very clean as well
"Small but very clean"
The rooms are very small. Nothing bigger than a double bed would actually fit, BUT the room was very clean. If you are looking for lots of amenities, this is not the place, but it is in a very safe neighborhood and very affordable compared to other hotels in NYC. My only complaint is that the hardwood floors, while beautiful, are very noisy when someone […] is walking down the hall in stilettos or in the room above you at 3 a.m. Read more
Reasonable price, great location, very clean, but without a doubt one of the smallest rooms I've ever stayed in.

"Small room but the price was good"
A very small room (I guess standard in NY) but clean, friendly staff and very well located. You won't find much better for the price!
"pros and cons"
- Rooms are extremely small. It's not a hotel for a couple's romantic weekend, but perfect for a business trip. - They held my luggage after I checked out, so if you go on a business trip and decide to hang out a bit more later that is definitely a good hotel to go. - The neighbor brazilian restaurant Brazil Brazil Grill was pretty good! Loved their […] sangria and steaks. - Minutes away from times square, and steps away from the metro and central park. Read more

"Convenient, clean, cozy"
Very small rooms, but large enough. Very clean room. Attentive staff. Great location -- one block from subway stop. Will definitely stay here on return trips!

"Great for price and location"
parking a pain but not unmanageable. The prox to Central park and restaurants is fabulous. The room was very small but workabble for a cheap vacation to the city :)

"Paper Thin Walls...."
made it impossible to sleep through the night. The elevator kept dinging and anytime someone walked down the hall you could hear it.
very tiny rooms. Wireless is patchy. Dont seem to care for keeping the rooms in order. overall clean. One day I had a water leak in bath, which they took crae of it immediately and my friend found a dead cockroach in tub. Great location near subway good places to eat/shop.
"Small but Great!"
The rooms are small, but very clean. The neightborhood is quiet with easy access anywhere. Lots of good places to eat near by. I highly recommend.
"Tiny rooms, no soundproofing, and unfriendly staff"
Front desk was unfriendly and not helpful. The rooms are TINY and there is no sound proofing so you can hear everything (and our room was near the elevator so you could hear everyone's conversations while they waited and the ding of the door opening and closing quickly got annoying). Right near the 1 train, which was convenient and the Upper West side […] is really nice and safe, but also not in the heart of the NYC action. Also, do not have the hotel call you a cab to the airport - they offer a fixed rate that is 10-20$ more than if you just find your own cab. Read more

"Belnord - Fine for the price"
Pro's: Great price for NYC, 2 stops from Lincoln Center, 5 min subway to Times Square, clean room, lots of towels, room heated up quickly when temperature was adjusted. Con's: The shower was freezing and then boiling - no comfortable temperature. Rooms are tiny. No clock/radio. Bottom line - You get what you pay for, but for one night it was just […] fine. Small-but-clean is the bottom line. Read more
"Small Rooms"
Smallest room ever! Til I saw bathroom..... Its nit a bad place to use as a stop over for a night but couldnt possibly consider staying longer.
"The Belnord Hotel in Manhatten New York"
OK service, could have been better Good, clean rooms Great location Very small room size
"Convenient location hotel with budget price"
Hotel was clean and conveniently located. Room and bath was clean but very small.Large person or couple may find it claustraphobic but fine for a clean place just to sleep for the night
"Clean and Convenient"
The location is perfect and the hotel is reasonably priced. We were thrilled to find this hotel for our first visit to the city. It was 1/2 block from the subway line that we always seemed to need. There was so many restaurants and shops in the area and the immediate area felt safe. Yes the room is a little small, but we were out most of the time and […] only needed a clean, quiet place to sleep. This place was exceptional in the clean department and since our room was located at the end of the hallway -- it was extremely quiet. We definitely would stay here again! Read more
"Ice around the corner"
Checked in late at night and was directed to a deli at the end of the block in response to my request for ice. The bathroom was nicely appointed but the shower head blasted water (not adjustable) so hard against the opposite wall of the shower it created a puddle that spread around most of the bathroom floor in seconds. I informed the desk attendant […] upon check-out who looked up briefly from his paperwork and muttered OK with the same indifferent look that accompanyed the suggestion the night before "the ice machine is broken. Way overpriced for no coffee, no closet, intermittent hot water, no place to hang anything even on a hook. Beds were lopsided and the hotel was very loud. Neighborhood was noisy and cleaning staff spoke very loudly in the hall for about 45 minutes at 6 am. Free wifi was also intermittent. We were positioned next to the elevator and heard the elevator […] door ding and open all night long. Could not adjust thermostat. Staff sort of helpful. Read more

"Super Small Super clean"
This was the cleanest hotel room I have ever stayed in. I was in the executive single, which is designed for one person (although two could fit). It had hardwood floors, high ceilings, digital thermostat control (much better than a window unit) and a super clean shiny bathroom. The hallways and elevator were also very clean and in good condition and […] there was a communal kitchen area with refrigerator. The wood/ceramic tile in the hallways makes the place very clean. It was very conveniently located to subway, restaurants, museum, and other upper west side attractions. There are two things to note: The room and bathroom are very small. This is not a room for hanging out in (which you shouldn't be doing if you've come to New York, because the whole world is outside to see). You cannot use the room for a business meeting because there is no desk or chair. But I really liked it, as all I did was sleep there and watch some TV. Secondly, the hard flooring, while allowing the halls to be spotlessly clean, does allow more sound to echo, so if you are sensitive to sound you may want some earplugs. I highly recommend this hotel. Read more
Great Location! Great Location! Great Location!
Small, but comfortable room. Location is fantastic - 1 block to train, and only a 5 minute train ride from times square. I would definitely stay here again. I'm only in it to sleep in it!
"not bad"
We only needed a room for 1 night so I cannot give much of a review. I liked it but I think they should get in the habit of putting 2 sets of towels in each room, instead of 1 mismatched set. The room is only a foot bigger than the bed. The toilet became clogged in the middle of the night, even though the only things in it was urine & tissue. I really […] do appreciate the climate control. I prefer my room to be warm & it maintained warmth through out the night Read more

"HOTEL BELNORD!!"
Me and My boyfriend had a great time!! Very small rooms but very clean, good hot water. location was awesome close to almost everything we needed. Alot of eating places and open very late. The rooms had hard wood floors and headboards. very nice, and very safe neighbor hood not enough space to move in room but i LOVED IT. the price was specially cheap. […] so even if your in town for the night and want to get away. I would stay there again!! Get the room with private bath a must. If not you would have to share with others..I'm a New Yorker who had fun!!! so trust me you would too!! Read more
"Belnord Hotel"
My stay at the Belnord Hotel was very pleasant. The rooms here are very small and only big enough for the bed and a small night stand, however I found this to be sufficient for my needs. The staff there are very friendly, and they even allowed me to check in 20 minutes early. This hotel is also in a very convenient location, with easy access to the […] subway 1 line, coffee shops, and a CVS within a block or less. Read more
"TINY!"
Conveniently located. Friendly staff rooms are extremely small. Smaller than cruise ship rooms! You can hear everything in that hotel. Good for the price. Good if you are only planning to shower and get ready to go out. You don't get much sleep because you are constantly hearing what the neighbor next door is saying or laughing, or people walking by […] on the hallway. Read more
"Belnord Hotel in New York City"
The hotel room was small, but clean. The location was ideal, and I felt completely safe coming and going at any time. It was an excellent combination of quality, function, and low pricing. The staff were all very helpful. The Belnord is a perfect choice for a quick business trip.
Great hotel in NYC. What a find! for such a price. Well worth it and will stay here again.
