The entire staff are amazing at Hotel Belleclaire. It more than made up for a few minor gripes I had about our room. One gripe is the temperature in our room was difficult to regulate. The only heat source in the room was a radiator, however even after turning it off completely, the room was still so hot that even leaving the windows open (in February) […] barely helped. Also the water pressure in shower was inadequate. The in-house mechanic wasn't really able to address either of these issues, other than to confirm that water pressure was low & heat was off. We got such a great deal though, plus the staff was amazing, and we spent little time in the room anyway, so these were easy to ignore for my wife and I. We would definitely stay again as long as the rates were right. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Another successful renovation!"
Always looking for affordable hotels on the Upper West Side. This place has really polished itself up since thelast time I stayed here, maybe three years ago. No more "shared" bathrooms. Opened up the lobby. Freshened up the bathrooms. Nice job. HB is a good value in a great location with typical UWS-NYC caveats…the rooms are quite small, the views […] are tortured and the soundproofing is definitely lacking. My only complaint is the noise in the room and the bed/pillows. We love staying at the Belleclaire but might hesitate next time. The pillows are too dense and the refrigerator very interrupted my sleep many time during the night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great locale, great price....good value"
The rooms are comfortable, the staff friendly and the neighborhood is awesome. If you're looking for high-end, large rooms, you're not getting that here. "Expedia Elite Plus"
Overall a great experience, despite a slight mishap early on in my stay. Let's start with the bad news...on check-in, the hotel didn't recognize me as an Elite Plus member, which is no big deal. We corrected that mistake and I was told that my Welcome Amenity (one of the Elite Plus perks on expedia) would be sent "right up". 10 hours, two phone calls, […] and two visits to the front desk later, still no Welcome Amenity, despite being told that it would be "sent right up" each time. I'm not sure what the holdup was, this really shouldn't have happened. I got my Welcome Amenity (chocolate, wine, slippers, and tasty truffle pretzels) and a room upgrade a day later only after complaining to Expedia. This whole thing is why I gave the hotel 3 points for "Hotel Staff". Now on to the other stuff. The rest of my stay was amazing. The location is in the upper west side, close to MoNH, Broadway, the metro, and lots of food. Rooms are relatively big for a NYC hotel. Older, but recently renovated. Very clean. I couldn't find anything to complain about in the bathroom (which I usually do). Bed is incredably comfortable. Internet varies by location in hotel. My first room was lightning fast, second room was on the slow side (maybe that was their retribution for complaining to expedia?). Bell staff attentive and polite. Heating was perfect in the room temperature-wise, but occasionally made a clicking sound (typical of radiators). Overall a great experience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Belleclaire - NYC"
The hotel had been remodeled since my prior stay in 2012. The room price had come down that made it affordable - possibly due to the winter season. Good location for shops and restaurants nearby. Friendly lobby staff. Plan on breakfast nearby.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Radiator heat makes noise"
Everything was fine except for a hissing noise coming from the radiator all night. It kept me awake. Other than that, it was an excellent value and more than adequate for my needs. I don't know if other rooms had the same problem. As I was only staying for one night, I didn't ask for a room change or repair to the radiator.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I go to NYC for work a few times per year and I always stay at the Belleclaire. The rooms are clean, the staff is friendly, the price is right and the neighborhood is a favorite. The only area for improvement is the heat. I am always warm and when it is cold outside the room is a little too warm for me.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel a great location"
I stayed here recently had my first trip to New York, and I couldn't have had a better experience. It's super close to Central Park, and close to the subway stop on 79th, and very near some excellence locations. The staff was fantastic, and the room, although small, was great.Genuine Expedia guest review
"All around good experience"
Nice lobby and efficient service downstairs. Very homely feel to the room with nice bathrooms. Surrounding neighborhood is one of the nicest in the city. Convenient to Natural History Museum and the 1,2,3 subway line to get around efficiently. Would recommend again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient but not in the tourist area"
Taxi rides to Museum Mile, Frick, Grand Central, and Theater District all 15 minutes or less. Near shopping, excellent grocery stores; fridge in room. "Some was good, some - not so much...,"
The hotel is located in the upper west side, very close to the red line subway and to many restaurants and shops. The room was small but not too small for NYC. It was pretty clean (including the towels and sheets). And, a big plus in my book, there was always hot water and the shower was great. What wasn't great - the central heating made terrible noises, […] consisting of knocks and whistles I never heard before. I complained several times about it, but the hotel staff seemed unnerved and weren't helpful. Another major problem was the wifi. In the evening/ night time I repeatedly got a message (while trying to connect), that there were too many users. Again the staff didn't seem to care or do anything about it. Seemed weird in 2013-2014. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great location, small rooms"
The rooms are very small. Larger (plus) sized people may find some of the room openings (e.g. btwn closet and bathroom) uncomfortable. Not all of their rooms are that narrow---it depends on which one you get. All the showers are basically cubicles. There are no dressers and the closets are rather small as well. Basically, the rooms are terribly small. […] At times, the internet which is included in the price, is unavailable because of the high volume. This is not good. The people at the desk could not find a package that was sent to me ---which they signed for---for at least 30 minutes!!! They now put a breakfast bar in the front lobby but save your money and go down the block. There are better options. The location is perfect, which is why I keep returning to the hotel, despite the rooms which are really inadequate. Two blocks from the #1 train, which will take you nearly anyplace,. "Botched an upgrade and wakeup call"
They screwed up the upgrade to a king sized bed, and failed to provide a requested wake up call. No coffee in the room. The bathroom in the un-upgraded room was too small to turn around in. Shower had drainage prob-lems.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great Location, Great Staff, Great Value!"
I have stayed at Hotel Belleclaire approximately 5 different times and was there throughout their remodeling. I have always left feeling glad I stayed and felt like it was a good value. Traveling with my husband and 15 year old daughter and 12 year old son was easy with the refrigerator in the room, coffee in the lobby, and awesome markets outside the […] hotel door. When on business I had a king room with a view of the Hudson and the sunsets were just beautiful. The rooms are on the small side with two doubles but that was no problem for us. "great location, great hotel"
What a great find! This hotel is in a great location for sight-seeing, close to subway. The neighborhood is charming and we can't wait to explore it more next time. "Needs improvements, would not stay again"
You never know what you'll get in a boutique hotel, but the Belleclaire left alot to be desired. Nice looking from the outside, nice lobby and great neighborhood on the Upper West Side. Staff was friendly but that's about it. Our room faced the street, and as it's an old building and still looked like it had original windows, noise was a problem. There […] was also a window air conditioner, which made for a gap in the window, hence the noise and outside air coming in. We had to sleep with earplugs just to get a decent night's sleep. The entire window and area around it was very dirty and the bathroom was clean, but needs updating. The shower did not drain so you were standing in water while showering. Also, our room was not serviced for the first two days and we had to ask at the desk on day three so we could get fresh towels and a clean room. I don't like leaving negative reviews, but feel I must be honest. For the price, expected better, will not book this hotel again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great affordable hotel in upper west side"
Hotel belleclaire was a great choice for us. We wanted to stay somewhere not in Times Square to explore a new neighborhood for us. The upper west side was perfect. Great stores, wonderful Restaurants, a grocery store downstairs and a great food cart on the corner. Not too convenient for mid day stops but we just use our hotel for sleep when we visit. The […] hotel staff were very friendly. The location is superb, the room was extremely clean, the bathroom smallish but adequate. Nice shower. Really comfortable queen bed. The only thing I would recommend is to bring some ear plugs. The rooms were kind of loud from the street noise and wood floors in the hallway. I'm guessing at this time of year everywhere is pretty loud with traffic plus we were only 6 floors up. The ear plugs were a game changer but i always travel with a good pair. We will definitely consider staying again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

This was our second visit. The hotel has undergone a significant renovation since our first visit -- all to the good. We will return.Genuine Expedia guest review
A great find! Stayed for two nights in December, on vacation with my SO. We both loved it and were so happy with the find. Pros: - Spacious room. Not sure if we were in a corner room, but we had TONS of space, way more than I've had at other Manhattan hotels (that are almost twice the price!). - Tasteful decor. Unlike every other Manhattan boutique […] hotel, this one wasn't trying too hard. Our room and bathroom weren't fancy, but were decorated in a clean, modern, simple style. Everything was new and in good condition. - Friendly staff. We only interacted with them at check-in, but they were welcoming, kind, and helpful. The only other thing to note is the neighborhood, and that could be a pro/con depending on what you're looking for. - Neighborhood. On the Upper West Side, in a quiet area, right off the 1 Subway line. We found a good bar for drinks, and enjoyed being in a less touristy area, but generally the hotel was far from everything we wanted to do. Great proximity to Central Park and some nice museums though! I would come back here any time, and recommend it to business or vacation travelers! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"nice hotel and a great location and value."
Very good value and location. Room was a little small but very well appointed except for bathroom which had a couple of patches of peeling paint, nothing major. Valet parking is real plus if one is traveling to NYC by car. Would definitely stay again and recommend.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great stay for a great price!"
The staff was very helpful & polite. The room was clean & comfortable. The bathroom is a bit small, but was still fine. The hotel was easy to get to, around the corner from a great 24 hr cafe. The hotel was pretty, recently renovated. Lemonadevin lobby was good. The only thing was staff was a bit weird. They rarely answered phone, would not understand and would not bring things to the room. I think they had some english problem.Genuine Expedia guest review
Everything was easy! Great valet parking, fast check in, elegant, chic room, ideal location, fantastic price.Genuine Expedia guest review
We received a free upgrade to a larger room, although I'm not sure what a smaller room would've been like. When we arrived, the room looked as though someone had finished a meal but that it hadn't been cleaned up yet. Overall, the experience was fine, especially for the price.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Attentive staff-felt at home"
Located in great upper west side neighborhood, close to subway. Can walk to food, drink and anything else. The staff was helpful especially the doorman and bellman. The room was small but clean and comfortable. Bed was great. Bathroom was newly renovated, nice tile, great shower. Only problem was window in bathroom was not aligned properly and there […] was a significant draft on an extremely cold night. Also noise on the Broadway side. (Bring earplugs).
