"Very Clean and Friendly Staff"
I stayed here for a long weekend in NYC. I was seeing some shows at the Met and in Broadway, very close to the subway, great quite neighborhood and a great friendly staff. I will stay here againGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great affordable hotel in upper west side"
Hotel belleclaire was a great choice for us. We wanted to stay somewhere not in Times Square to explore a new neighborhood for us. The upper west side was perfect. Great stores, wonderful Restaurants, a grocery store downstairs and a great food cart on the corner. Not too convenient for mid day stops but we just use our hotel for sleep when we visit. The […] hotel staff were very friendly. The location is superb, the room was extremely clean, the bathroom smallish but adequate. Nice shower. Really comfortable queen bed. The only thing I would recommend is to bring some ear plugs. The rooms were kind of loud from the street noise and wood floors in the hallway. I'm guessing at this time of year everywhere is pretty loud with traffic plus we were only 6 floors up. The ear plugs were a game changer but i always travel with a good pair. We will definitely consider staying again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Repeat after renovation"
This was our second visit. The hotel has undergone a significant renovation since our first visit -- all to the good. We will return.Genuine Expedia guest review
A great find! Stayed for two nights in December, on vacation with my SO. We both loved it and were so happy with the find. Pros: - Spacious room. Not sure if we were in a corner room, but we had TONS of space, way more than I've had at other Manhattan hotels (that are almost twice the price!). - Tasteful decor. Unlike every other Manhattan boutique […] hotel, this one wasn't trying too hard. Our room and bathroom weren't fancy, but were decorated in a clean, modern, simple style. Everything was new and in good condition. - Friendly staff. We only interacted with them at check-in, but they were welcoming, kind, and helpful. The only other thing to note is the neighborhood, and that could be a pro/con depending on what you're looking for. - Neighborhood. On the Upper West Side, in a quiet area, right off the 1 Subway line. We found a good bar for drinks, and enjoyed being in a less touristy area, but generally the hotel was far from everything we wanted to do. Great proximity to Central Park and some nice museums though! I would come back here any time, and recommend it to business or vacation travelers! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"nice hotel and a great location and value."
Very good value and location. Room was a little small but very well appointed except for bathroom which had a couple of patches of peeling paint, nothing major. Valet parking is real plus if one is traveling to NYC by car. Would definitely stay again and recommend.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great stay for a great price!"
The staff was very helpful & polite. The room was clean & comfortable. The bathroom is a bit small, but was still fine. The water takes a few minutes to warm up so I just let it run until it did, no big deal at all. The surrounding area is great, can walk around lots of nice shops & places to eat. For the price it is a fantasic place to stay! I will […] come back & stay here next time I am in the city! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A great deal in nyc."
The hotel was easy to get to, around the corner from a great 24 hr cafe. The hotel was pretty, recently renovated. Lemonadevin lobby was good. The only thing was staff was a bit weird. They rarely answered phone, would not understand and would not bring things to the room. I think they had some english problem.Genuine Expedia guest review
Everything was easy! Great valet parking, fast check in, elegant, chic room, ideal location, fantastic price.Genuine Expedia guest review
We received a free upgrade to a larger room, although I'm not sure what a smaller room would've been like. When we arrived, the room looked as though someone had finished a meal but that it hadn't been cleaned up yet. Overall, the experience was fine, especially for the price.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Attentive staff-felt at home"
Located in great upper west side neighborhood, close to subway. Can walk to food, drink and anything else. The staff was helpful especially the doorman and bellman. The room was small but clean and comfortable. Bed was great. Bathroom was newly renovated, nice tile, great shower. Only problem was window in bathroom was not aligned properly and there […] was a significant draft on an extremely cold night. Also noise on the Broadway side. (Bring earplugs). But great stay for the price. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great in so many ways...but"
Hotel Belleclaire is wonderful in so many ways. It's on the upper west side on 77th street, which means that you can catch the subway at either 79th or 72nd. So very easy. I preferred to walk everything, so I was glad that it was a bit more uptown than others. On my first night I was jolted awake by the enormous clanking of pipes. It was incessant. […] ! But I accepted that it was part of the New York experience. The next day it was snowing, so I went out into the beautiful New York world and had a great day. That night, the same scenario happened. So I called the front desk and they sent up this guy........he asked me about the noise..."what did it sound like"....as if he'd never heard this complaint before! I told him and he said "well, it's windy outside".....that's when I got upset. Look, I'm tired and you're trying to make me sound crazy. Give me a break. I simply asked him to leave and I tried to sleep. But the entire next day I was kind of bugged by it. So I called the manager that evening (day two). His name was Scott, and I have to say he was really nice and had a good ear. I really do understand that it's a 100 year old building, and they're in the midst of an upgrade. Now I am one of those people who hates those people who immediately check in and find a flaw so that they'll get an upgrade. I don't complain, and certainly didn't expect anything. All I'll say is that Scott was very generous and went out of his way to make up for it. He did! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We thoroughly enjoyed the hotel, staff and location. The only thing we would do different next time is to request a room that does not face Broadway. There was too much noise all night long.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location, Location Location"
The location of this hotel is really perfect. Very residential atmosphere with a book store, markets, excellent restaurants, a full market, and metro within a few blocks. The hotel has recently been renovated and the improvements are a big positive. Rooms are large with wood floors. Hallways look a bit worn and were not part of the renovation. Mini-elevators. […] Staff is very competent. While the roooms are comfortable they did not replace the steam heat so there is some pounding that you hear in the pipes...loud enough to wake you up....took me a few nights to get used to the loud noises. In addition, you can hear a lot of street noise the windows don't seem to be soundproof. All things considered I would stay there again because I happen to love the area but if you are a light sleeper this may not be your first choice. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Cute place, nice location, beware X10 rooms"
Very courteous staff, nice location within the city and proximity to the 1,2,3. Was given room 510 - i assume this is like all '10 rooms: right across from the elevators with a window onto the very echoing center 'courtyard'; loud, loud, loud. If they hand you a key for room X10, make sure to push back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel was good for the price and location. Staff was excellent. Had to change Deluxe Two bed room twice to get a room with a dresser.Genuine Expedia guest review
The heater was very noisy, and we can not adjust the temperature. The solution that we found was to open a window a little bit. After a bad night, they changed our room (227) to a better one (718).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely old hotel with updates"
We needed a place near Lincoln Center and the Museum of Natural History. This Hotel was very comfortable and the staff was so nice. However, the room temperature was too warm. The window was open when we got there and we closed it and the street noise went way down but the temperature went way up. We were on the seventh floor and it was the end of November. […] In hindsight we should have asked how to adjust the temp of the old radiators but we were only there one night and it was a busy weekend for us. "Nice little find in Manhattan"
We were looking for a not too expensive decent hotel near the Metropolitan Opera. This hotel was perfect. It was about 12 blocks away, and well located next to Coffee Bean and tons of stores. The service people were all very nice and helpful, our room was spacious by NY standards and overall it was very nice. I would have liked if the radiator didn't […] make so much noise at night and if the room were more quiet from outside noise. Other than that, it totally fit the bill. I would highly recommend this hotel because, for the money, you can't find much better in the city. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Location and Parking"
Quirky hotel on west side. Was able to find street parking on Riverside Drive but if we drove around we could of parked on same block as hotel. Over two nights that saved us $100. We were going to two nights of concerts at the Beacon. A five minute walk back back to hotelGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Loud air-conditioner ruined otherwise great stay"
This hotel offers unusually spacious rooms for a NYC hotel, with very nice bathrooms and closet space. The lobby is attractive and inviting, the location is fabulous and the beds are good. "Great location, a bit too expensive"
Hotel Belle Claire is located at a wonderful corner of New-York's upper west side. It's lobby is homely and nice. It's clean and very friendly and falls fills up the appearance niche of "boutique". However, it has two drawbacks: a. It is a bit too expensive for its too small rooms (at least the singles I occupied twice for 2 nights each time). b. It […] has too many rooms for my taste, looks like 20 and has 100 (I believe). Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was nice, clean and had a charming lobby. However, our shower was unusable (scalding water which could not be adjusted) and they never sent anyone up to check it out. "Nice Hotel near Museum of Natural History & Zabars"
Decent. Small rooms but very clean & comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This was my first time really staying in NY and there's a lot to learn. The hotel overall was very nice, it seems very sophisticated from the moment you enter the hotel. The room was decent - kinda small but not uncomfortable. They even included a mini fridge that is a nice touch - didnt use it but nice to have none-the-less. What I didn't like, […] but I guess this is common, is there is no control for the heating in the big city - it's just always on. I found myself turning on the AC a few times during the night after waking up in a sweat. Another thing which is common in NY is a super loud clanking sound at 4-7am, sounding like a crazed drunk guy hitting pipes with a sledgehammer. This could be 3 things: heating being turned on, water being turned on, or a crazed drunk guy hitting the pipes with a sledgehammer. I mentioned this to staff and they offered to change my room, me being a wussy declined but it was only 2 nights so I survived. Overall it was expensive, but nice. "An emerging gem on the Upper West Side"
I was most impressed by the friendliness, helpfulness, and professionalism of the staff. The location is quite convenient. The business center was handy, even though there was only 1 computer working. The hotel is installing central air and heating. My deluxe queen room was comfortable. I appreciated the fridge. "Nice stay in upper west side"
Lobby was inviting and the hotel staff was very professional. The hotel room was somewhat small (as I expect in New York City) but the three suites that we rented were no bigger than many single rooms that I've stayed in. Plus there was no door separating the two rooms - no privacy and sound from the two TV's clashed. Really only suitable for a very […] close family unit. Bath products great and the beds were very comfortable. Very few vestiges of the historic 1903 building that it is underneath all of the modern skin. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Don't expect to get much sleep"
We arrived at the hotel, were pleased by lobby presentation and staff. We were offered n upgrade to a queen bed, "larger" room. The hotel was advertised as recently renovated. The room was small. I would hate to see the smaller room we originally booked. The room was stuffy, but clean. The bath was just about as big as the room, and clean. The outside […] temperature was about 55 degrees, so we turned on the modern, quiet air conditioner. The tv was large and the channel selection and reception were exceptional. (We travelled by train and subway from our home on Long Island, and booked for one night.) Well, the heater came on, and it was at that point we noticed the ancient cast iron radiator that clanged and banged so loudly we could not sleep. With no way to turn it off, we practically suffocated in the over heated room. Why didn`t we change rooms? They all had the same method of heating. If we had planned this trip as a NYC get-away, I would have changed hotels. I learned a lot from this experience. I rate this hotel experience overall as terrible. Tiny, crowded, poorly designed room. Lukewarm shower for 2 days because plumbing reversed hot & cold, and no note to forewarn you. "Great Hotel and Good Price for Location"
It is very difficult to find an affordable and nice hotel in the upper west side, but Hotel Belleclaire delivers that. It is clean, nice, and well located. "Convenient nice area"
The nicest thing was the entire staff's friendly kind attitudes. They accommodated all our needs and requests. The room was nice and we had a lovely view on the front but it was a bit noisy at night. The coffee and tea bar in the lobby was nice in the morning. It would have been better to have a coffee maker in the room but hardly any hotels in NY provide […] them so I did not expect it. We enjoyed the mini frig in the room and they even provided a corkscrew in the room for wine we brought in. And they provide umbrellas to use during your stay, which we used the first day because we didn't bring one. It saved buying one at a drugstore. So yes I liked this hotel and would stay there again. Even though the room was very small it was comfortable for one person mainly for the bed size. The staff was very helpful. I was glad to see that breakfast was available the next day. It was very difficult to change the time on the clock radio even though they changed the broken one for a new one. You need to have instructions in the room for the clock […] radio and the television should have a list of the stations.
