"Affordable Quickie in NY"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
We had a very good time and the hotel was close to work.

Very nice hotel, within walking distance to subway for access to Manhattan (take the 7 or E and you can get to grand central, times square, penn station). Just a few blocks to local restaraunts. The room was very clean, excellent staff, free shuttle to subway. Overall an excellent place to stay if your touring new york city. One note, if you are considering a "view room" save your money, the view is obstructed by a number of taller buildings (the hotel is only 7 floors). Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely stay again, especially at the rate because of the new hotel discount. If you plan to take a cab from the hotel call one yourself because the service the hotel uses charges a flat rate to specific areas and you can get a cab on your own for cheaper generally.

"European-Like small Hotel"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
comfy bed, nice bathroom, great staff at front desk, wireless access easy, computer in Lobby new and rapid. Parking garage reasonable rate. Great spot nearby:EatIly--check it out for restaurants and goodies to bring home. Only improvement that could be made is quality of towels.
"The Gem may be a Gem"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
It was a nice stay. Only complaints are the size of the double bed rooms and the internet was very off/on. Other than that it was an excellent stay.

Let the West Coast have Hollywood; Broadway’s lights are just as bright, and many screen actors come to the Great White Way to gain acting credibility. Area attractions include Carnegie Hall, Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, and the Museum of Modern Art. Resplendent St. Patrick’s Cathedral takes up a block at Fifth and 50th. Once seedy, Times Square now hosts ABC, MTV, and NASDAQ.
see all hotels in New York"great location, tiny room"
This is (at best) a 2.5 star hotel... more likely a 2-star. As long as you don't have any high expectations, and only plan to sleep in your room... no room to work in the room (no desk, a single chair that isn't really usable)... the room is really, really really small.
"Fantastic Location"
Gave comfort of the room a 3 out of 5 because of construction noise.

TOILET RUNNING IN ROOM 409
Read reviews before picking this hotel which were 50-50 pro and con, but took a chance because of its convenience and proximity to places we were going to. Pleasantly surprised by the wonderful reception and willingness on the part of staff to help us. Room was ready, clean, and updated as to amenities. Outstanding reception staff, special kudos to […] Ben, Liza, Natalie. Will return to this hotel. Read more
"Great stay and convenient location"
Nothing better than turning the corner from Grand Central and dropping off the bags. Would stay again. Friendly staff and great service.
"Bang for the Buck"
In a city where $400 a night rooms are the norm, the Amsterdam Court is a pleasant surprise in a terrific neighborhood. A close walk to numerous subway lines, as well as the dining scene on 9th avenue and the up-and-coming 10th Avenue bar scene. The rooms are small, but well-appointed. They feel like an actual Manhattan apartment. The staff is excellent […] and very friendly. No, it's not a luxury hotel, by any means, but if you are busy sightseeing by day, this is the perfect place to rest your head at night. Read more
"Amsterdam Hotel in NYC"
This hotel is in a great location, great value for the cost, rooms and beds were very comfortable. A small issue - the radiator in the room had a tendency to start banging occasionally. Just often enough to make sleep a little difficult. Overall, though, a great experience!
"Amsterdam Court Hotel in NYC"
Room was tight, large bed with very little room to move around, but for the price considering it's proximity to Times Square area and a place to simpkly crash and shower. . .it's worth it.
"Dollar conscious comfort"
I stay in hotels at all price ranges and when I'm in NYC this place doesn't burn my budget so I can go to great restaurants every meal, knowing I'm only spending 2/3 of what everyone else does on the room. All the subways are within a block so you can be all over Manhattan in no time flat. Great restaurant in the hotel and the staff really tries. Not […] the usual lip service you get in the chains. "Small Room"
Very small room, even for a boutique hotel. A noisy WINDOW air conditioner was very annoying
"Great Location"
This hotel is at a great location but the staff is not jumping to help in any way. They seem very bored with their job and pass duties on to others and stand there to watch. The AC unit was VERY noisy - we had to buy earplugs. Good size bathroom (shower with no curtain or tub) and good size bedroom.

"Amsterdam Cory Hotel - Excellent!"
The location was great, the staff was excellent andtgeroom was very clean. Room a little small and walls thin, a little pricey - overall - love it!
"Amsterdam Court Hotel - Convenience"
While the rooms are small and you can hear every peep from the neighboring guests, the hotel is in such a convenient location that if you need a place to crash out for the night it is a really good option. It's clean and not too expensive. The location is fantastic and the staff were very nice.
"amsterdam court hotel"
I really liked this hotel because of its location for the price I was able to stay nearly in time square. The front desk staff was excellent. They were one of the reasons why I had a great trip.
"The Amsterdam Hotel in New York"
The experience was unfortunately not good. There was very little hot water, was unable to regulate heat, the staff was non responsive, the iron leaked water all over clothes and we were told that the pay movies were not available but then found out on the last day that they actually were available.
"Great Location, Get What You Pay For"
i really wanted to like this hotel, to have found a cost effective, very conveniently located, nice hotel in this part of NY. After a brief stay though, I understand why it has garnered an average rating. It was fine, but has some flaws. Rooms were clean, if worn. Staff were nice, if not overly warm. As others have noted, the standard room w a queen […] bed was a decent size by NY standards, although may not be best for two or more people. The location was great - just a few blocks from Times Square, near the subway, and easy walking distance to many of the offices and sites in that part of town. Unfortunately, as others have noted, being that close to both a major part of New York and a large construction site means considerably noise at all hours. Sirens and passersby throughout the night. Activity at the construction site next door starts at 7a (which the front desk neglected to mention when I checked in). This hotel may not be a good idea for those who wish to go to bed early or sleep late. The controls in my bathroom fell off of the wall as I tried to use them, so I ended up with a very cold shower that morning, for which the staff were apologetic, but there wasn't much to be done. If you need a passable hotel in this part of town for a short visit, the Amsterdam is passable and inexpensive, but not grand or recommended for longer stays. Read more
I didn't like the two nite I stayed there, it was too cold because the window can't closed, it has the air conflation, keeping the window opens, the heater was under issue, no control at the room, the hotel seems turn it on only at sleeping time, there neighbor is building and too much noise, the rest room so stuipd, it is too big, and the dish spreat […] water all around the rest room, all rest room got wet!!! "Amsterdam Court-great experience"
This was our second time at this hotel. The first time was about 8 years ago, prior to the latest renovation. We were comfortable our first stay and pleasantly surprised at the modernization since then. They are conveniently located just a couple of blocks from Times Square and accross the street from a theater and a wonderful Mexcian restaurant. Although […] the room was small, it was nicely furnished and the bathroom featured modern fixtures. The staff was friendly and helpful, as well. We will definitely return! Read more
"Great Stay"
Hotel was in great location and overall was clean and comfortably. Will stay again.
"A Good Option"
This was a very good deal for the location. I cannot say enough about the convenience of being between two subway stations. One is literally right out the door! There are restaurants and bars attached to the hotel. Convenience! Great neighborhood. There is ongoing construction next door. I had a room facing the construction and believe me, it's a […] wake-up call. My next stay, I am going to have a room on the other side of the building. The bathrooms are a little bit dated with 80's style, Miami-Vice-like pink and turquoise tile. The shower was super HOT and great water pressure, but the tub was kinda rusted. The lighting in the room is very dim and the televisions are old style. For what I paid though, it's a great deal and I have reservations already for a return visit. I felt that it was cozy and met my needs w/o the pricey frills. The Staff really demonstrated that they want your business. Great service. Very nice. Read more
"Amsterdam Court - get what you pay"
It's a small room and small hotel. The bathroom could use some remodeling. However, it's not bad. It was a good stay for the price you pay. I was traveling by myself, so it would have been a tight squeeze with two people.
"Great location"
Great location, one block from Times Square. Subway on the same block. Nice room for the price. Very nice staff. Next time I comeback to NYC I will definately book my room here
"Ok for the price"
Within walking distance...hotel felt very small... Room was renovated...but still had a Tube TV... No safe in room. Desk safe ., did not feel so safe leaving items . Price ... You get what you pay for .
"Excellent hotel"
I had an amazing weekend but my stay at the Amstersam Court made it even more amazing. Their staff was friendly, accommodating, and very informative and hospitable. The rooms were comfortable, roomy, and spacious (for NY rooms anyway) The location is ridiculous. 2 blocks off Times Square. I am definitely going to return to this hotel
Very friendly staff. Walking distance to major attractions. Rooms are small, recommended for 1 or 2 night stays, but very clean. Bed was super comfortable.

"Can't Beat the Location, but...."
The location of the Amsterdam Court can't be beat - 2 blocks north of Times Square, a half block to two different subway stations, and I booked the room at a decent price (special). The lobby has a modern feel, and guest services are reasonably helpful/welcoming. Upon entering the room, the first thing that you notice is how incredibly tiny it is (I […] am well aware how small NYC hotel rooms tend to be, but this was a closet to an extreme!). The room wasn't exactly dirty, but it just really had an "old" feel to it (from the carpets, to the chipping ceiling paint, to the bathroom colors, to the old TV set). There were just a few things that weren't quite right, either...the telephone was missing the sticker that told you what button to push to get the front desk, so I had to walk down to ask them to set a wake up call. Also, after the first morning when I took a shower the tub filled up (water well above my ankles). I told asked the people at the front desk to have maintenance take a look at it (and they quickly agreed), but upon my shower the next morning the same thing happened. It wasn't a *bad* stay, but for the price I think I'll try to find a different hotel. Read more
"You get what you pay for"
This hotel is comparable to other hotels like it that I've stayed at in NYC in the past. The rooms are small, not necessarily modern, but clean and very convenient. The radiator was in the corner farthest from the bed & it was 17 degrees out that night so it was a bit chilly in the room, and the shower was more of a mist than a stream BUT the water […] was hot and the bathroom clean. The restaurant in the hotel is exceptionally good, however, and on a cold winter night, it was wonderful not to have to bundle up to go out to eat and drink. That aspect of this location makes up for the less than five star accommodations, and the location can't be beat. Read more
"Hotel is great location and thats it"
Room and bathroom were smaller than a guest bedroom in my house, cold shower, heating/ ac did not work properly. Room smelled moldy
"Good size room, broken TV"
Affordable, great location, friendly staff, Broken TV, could hear ever noise from every direction, grungy in some places, Overall a great pick.
"Great Location, Comfortable rooms, ok service"
I had a great stay at this hotel. My only issues were that it took over 4 hours and several calls to reception to get towels brought to my room when I had none. Also the way the shower head spit out the water was VERY uncomfortable. Aside from that - the location is amazing, bed was comfortable, tv was large - i would stay there again
"Hotel Amsterdam Court - False Advertising"
We chose this hotel for it's price and rating however the experience was not worth the cost. -The room fit a Queen bed and nothing else - Shower curtain didn't fit the shower therefore flooding was unstoppable - Evening receptionist was incredibly unhelpful with facial expressions I've only seen used by teenage girls - We utilized late check out at […] 1:00p instead of noon but were still interrupted by hotel cleaning staff at 9:00am - Room furnished with out of date technology i.e. tube TV and CD radio, not worth the pricetag Overall very disappointed with our stay. "Bring cleaning suppies with you."
This Hotel was not what was advertised. NOT what you see in pictures. The front desk was helpful. We had to change our room in the first 5min. The room was dirty, smelled like smoke, very tiney room. We had to take a room with 2 double beds. We had to buy cleaning spray at the store to clean the bathroom. Dirty floor. mildew shower with pubick hair […] stuck to wall. The window airconditioner stunk. I needed to wash The filter. It was clogged with dirt ect. The parking they offer nextdoor is a ripoff. no one speaks english and they stole all my spare change and went throught all bags in my car. On the positive side It was in a great location. Close to everything. The resturant nextdoor was awsome. So, you get what you pay for. Pay the extra $20.00 and stay anywhere but here. Read more
"Amsterdam Hotel"
Pros: Good location near Times Square and parking across the hotel Cons: Tiny room, dirty bed sheets, VERY uncomfortable pillows, insufficient lighting, dirty bathroom, and filthy carpet
"Amsterdam Court"
Very Good location. Internet is no good and you have to pay 10 dollars a day for it. It's clean, comfortable. Sometimes you can hear noises from other rooms and what happens on the hallway. The heat was excesses overly hot and we had to turn on the air conditioner because we couldn't sleep. If you just want to sleep on a clean place I would recommend […] it. I think the fee is not cheap. Read more
"Hotel Amsterdam Court"
The room was very plain and worn from age with not much to show for any attempt to update the bathroom. There was a broken tile on the bathroom floor that will be a problem for some guest if it comes loose. I think you pay a lot of money for the location rather than for the amentities that are available.

"Amsterdam Court Hotel"
Great location but was completely disgusted with the cleanliness and service!! There was a leak in the bathroom and water all over the floor when I walked in the room. I would NOT recommend this hotel to others...especially for the high room prices for such low quality.
We woke to construction going on in the back courtyard outside our window at 5:00 am Friday morning. The whole idea of me and my wife staying in the city was to sleep extra hours before going to work. That did not happen, when we called front desk they where not cooperating. I would never stay at the Amsterdam Hotel again nor would I recommend anyone […] staying at that hotel. Read more
"no more than 1 night"
Stepping into my room first thing I thought of was Woody Alans line " I don't me say the room was small but i had to step outside to change my mind" other issues with room 1) I do not believe the bed had clean sheets 2) alarm clock went off at 12 pm took me 5 minutes to figure out how to turn it off l3) lights over bed left on switch to turn them off […] very well hidden 4) shower curtain unable to close full distance due to patchwork repair of rail, tub badly stained 5) side of sink looks like it was covered in mold Read more
