it was fine, but very difficult to do necessary computer work The lack of full size desk and comfortable work place was a major disappointment. Continental breakfast was adequate, nothing special. The location in the French Quarter was excellent.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel in NOLA"s French Quarter, only Pleasing"
For the most part, the Hotel Provencial is a pleasant stay. It is located in the French Quarter, so once you park your car, you walk everywhere, which is what we wanted. The hotel was clean but not super clean. The room's carpet had been vacuumed, but it needed deeper cleaned. When you walked on it barefoot, the bottom's of your feet were left dirty. […] The best part about our room was the view from the window. We could see the Mississippi River. We sat and watched barges, tankers, and even the paddle wheeler Natchez cruise the river. We also had a view of the street below us, so we could watch tourists. That is always a sight in NOLA. A continental breakfast is served in the hotel's bar each morning. Seating is limited, so arrive early or stand up. There is ample seating in the hotel's courtyard, but this is not advertised and guests forget about it. If you stay here, carry your breakfast to the courtyard and enjoy the beauty. The staff is professional and bored. Valet parking is at the hotel, so you can access your car anytime you want. This was nice. All in all, we were pleased with our stay, but we are already looking for somewhere different to stay next time. I guess that says it all. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Location, Charming Old Hotel"
Location is everything - and this hotel is near to everything, but far enough away to not be bothered by the noise. Bourbon St., Frenchmen St., Jackson Sq., and the French Market are all within a 3 - 4 blocks, and restaurants such as Irene's, Palm Court Jazz Café, Coop's, Envie Café, are nearby, too. The hotel is an older hotel, charming but not sleek […] and fancy like the new ones; this place is full of charm and grace, with a quiet courtyard and small pool area. An oasis from the hustle and bustle of the French Quarter. The staff are ever-ready to do whatever it takes to make the guests happy. There is a small, quiet bar onsite for the guests to unwind in after an active day. They also have a free continental breakfast in the morning, but it is just the bare-minimum; unusual for everything else that this hotel does for it's guests: they really pinch pennies on this breakfast menu. Luckily, there are good breakfast facilities close by. All in all, a nice place to stay; I've stayed here before and will stay here again, next time I'm in N.O. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"The beauty of the French Quarter."
My family was driving cross country and decided New Orleans was a must! Upon arriving at the Hotel Provincial, we were pleasantly surprised. The Hotel was everything you'd think the French Quarter would offer. The staff was warm and welcoming. The hotel itself had all the modern amenities, while maintaining the feel of the past. Perfectly located a […] couple of blocks from Bourbon street, Cafe Du Monde, French Market, and transportation to the other parts of the city is easily accessible. It was a remarkable experience and we will be back for more. Thank you. P.S. One thing I was a little surprised about was having to pay for parking. This was never mentioned in the booking process ( I guess it was an assumption) but being from a small town it never occured to us. Just be prepared for the extra expense and you will have an amazing time! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to French Quarter without the noise"
Enjoyed our stay. Old hotel, as our many in this area, but clean, roomy, and good continental breakfast. Friendly service.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Perfect location and yet quiet. Exactly what I expected of a New Orleans hotel with balconies and hidden courtyards. Room was lovely, too, and large. Very comfortable. Would stay again in a heartbeat.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, small room"
I thought the location of the hotel was great; walking distance to just about anywhere you would want to see in the French Quarter. I thought the room itself was small; we upgraded to a "suite" for three of us and once the sofa turned into a bed, there was no free space. The room had a damp feel to it. The air conditioning unit was loud (sounding like […] someone opening the door to the room) as it kicked on and off throughout the night. Did not sleep well there. I will say that the service was high quality. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Could easily be excellent with small changes."
With just a few changes this place could be awesome. 1. Service lacked- add some snap 2. Lobby needs attention to detail such as clean the windows, polish the floor, clean the main desk counter top. Looked dingy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great place to stay in the french quarter"
The hotel is pretty close to everywhere you want to be. There are two pools, a bar and restaurant. The stay was pleasant and quiet. Definitely would recommend staying here.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel close to everything"
We liked the hotel very much and the staff were really friendly and accommodating. We would stay again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Close to planned event"
We chose this hotel for its location to a planned event in the French Quarters and also because it offered valet parking. The staff was very helpful and courteous.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Location is ideal and the hotel was beautiful. The only issue I had was that when I arrived I was charged on my debit card for the room that I had already paid for. I was given a refund but it took a few days. This happened to me twice on my vacation with 2 different hotels.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Well located, quiet and comfortable."
Second time staying here. This time was for French Quarter Fest. Perfectly located lovely hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent hotel in the French Quarter."
Great deal through Expedia. The hotel was away from the crazy parts of the French Quarter, but yet in a great location. It was quiet, had decent breakfast, and nice Happy Hour. I'd go back again!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Historic boutique hotel"
We traveled with a six year old and we loved this hotel. It is located in the center of the French quarter and we liked to walk everywhere. Bathroom was recently remodeled . Very good stay overall.Genuine Expedia guest review
Wonderful boutique hotel in the center of the French Quarter. Antique furnishings, quiet, clean and exceptional staff. Minor downside, no coffee maker but available and free continental breakfast. 2 stories only so not an inconvenience. Will be back.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Really nice boutique hotel"
Was charged extra for a 3rd person, after I had already paid for 3 people on hotels. Com... they blamed hotels.com, and told me to read the fine print next time =(. The Hotel was nice though. It had alot of hidden court yards to relax in. The location was perfect too. Centraly located in the French quarters. Walking distance from Burbon street, and […] the French market. "Great Location and Accommodating Rooms"
We stayed here for four nights, Friday thru Monday. The room was very comforting and spacious for two people. The only complaints we has were that our drawers to put in our clothes in were broken and difficult to open. So we mainly to decide to use our suitcases. The iron in the room worked fine but it was missing a broken piece. Other than that, we […] really had no complaints Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient but nothing exceptional"
We stayed 3 days for French Quarter Fest. location could not have been better - central to the acts we came to see. Courtyard is nice but hotel is otherwise lacking in interest. Expensive for the quality.Genuine Expedia guest review
Our double room faced the parking area. While the. View was not great, the quiet was (some street facing rooms can get very noisy in the quarter). The rate was a bargain compared to other quarter hotels and the location is conveniently three blocks from Jackson Square. Nothing fancy but clean and comfortable for a short stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel in French Quarter"
Excellent staff. Location was great. Hot and cold water in shower was curious. Took a long tine for hot water to arrive. I felt bad about wasting water. It was a long time. Also floor ceramic tile was slick. Older guests might find it dangerous and take a fall. I would definitely stay here again!Genuine Expedia guest review
"A very nice hotel for the money."
This hotel was much better than I had expected. We had a double bed room that easily fit 4 adults and 2 children. The room was very clean and the bathroom seemed to have brand new fixtures complete with a marble or granite counter top. The complementary Continental breakfast was great for the kids. They do have protected parking on the property for […] your car. All staff members were helpful and professional. Its a short walk from your room to Jackson Square and Café Du Monde. The location is also fairly quiet for the French Quarter. Apparently, drunks can't stumble this far away from Bourbon St. I would stay at this hotel again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"One of my favorite parts of New Orleans"
I absolutely love the Hotel Provincial. The beautiful accommodations, friendly staff, and wonderful location make it an ideal place to stay. I have visited New Orleans many times and stayed in different locations; however, for my last three stays, I have returned to the Hotel Provincial. Be certain to learn the fascinating history of the location and […] visit the new bar; the spirits in each are delightful. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel has great location"
Location is walking distance to most destinationations in the French Quarter. Building 5 where I stayed well up to date.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice, quaint, hotel"
Good location in the Quarter. Some of the rooms are on the smaller side and cell phone reception can be a bit of an issue. Nice continental breakfast offered. Only complaint was with the TV service, channel offering somewhat limited and no program guide however, most visitors do not travel to NOLA to watch TV!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Can't wait to return!!!!"
Great hotel! Beautiful historical decor. Excellent service and very clean. Breakfast lacking since the hotel is so great. Will def stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location !!"
Beautiful older hotel buildings which were immaculately clean inside and outside. Furnishings are all well maintained antiques. Loved the courtyards and beautiful flowers! Very quiet neighborhood. Continental breakfast was good. Lovely property!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great stay at Hotel Provincial!"
We really wanted a hotel with a historic feel in the French Quarter, but still wanted something fairly quiet. Hotel Provincial was perfect. The property is beautiful; we loved the courtyard with the fountain. Our room was bigger than I expected from the photos, and the antique furniture and paintings gave it a less "generic" and more historic feel. […] The shower had excellent pressure and hot water. However, the best thing about Hotel Provincial is the staff! Everyone was friendly and professional, and so helpful. The service truly was top notch. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This was my first time going to New Orleans since I was 15 so I wanted a non-traditional hotel. This was exactly what I received with this hotel. I reminded me of Old New Orleans, It was a few blocks away from Bourbon street and the flea market, so I could enjoy all the night life, without to much noise. My hotel was completely sold out, so they upgraded […] me to a upstairs/ downstairs hotel room without my knowledge. It was fabulous. The only issue I had was with maintenance. My room key to my balcony porch broke off in the door. Although they came to fix it, it was never fixed. They did not let me know it was still broken, so I slept with an unlocked door which anyone with access to the balcony, or room on my floor could enter. I was dissappointed with that, but it was great other than that. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Historic Hotel"
Great Hotel and location. Perfect spot away from all of the parting... We had a 1st floor room which we would not do again. The unit above us I thought was going to fall in at anytime! Would stay again but in a different room.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Room for Mardi Gras"
The hotel inadvertently had our arrival and departure dates booked incorrectly and they were sold out, with nothing available - in the middle of carnival, on Lundi Gras. This could have been a disaster, but management hustled and after securing a cancellation, we were in. This is a perfect French Quarter hotel located in quieter residential block, while […] still steps away from restaurants, bars, shopping, history and all the experiences of New Orleans. Happy Mardi Gras and thank you!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming with excellent location"
All in all, this is a great hotel. The hotel includes a set of charming buildings. Ours was set back enough from the road that it was quiet and peaceful. The hotel was clean and in a safe area. Just two blocks from the French Market.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel close to everything"
I loved the hotel only thing I didnt like was there boiled eggs for breakfast were cold they should sit them in hot water and don't take the shells off the eggs so they can stay warm. More variety of bagels not just one type ex raisin, seaseme seed etc. But overall I loved the hotelGenuine Expedia guest review
"Stayed 4 nights for Mardi Gras 2014"
Upon arriving by plane mid-morning at New Orleans Int'l and taking a taxi to The Provincial Hotel we were greeted in a warm friendly manner and our luggage was stored near the front desk until check-in at 3 PM. The hotel staff placed a bright orange plastic band around our wrists (like a hospital I.D. band) and we were told that it would stay on until […] the moment of our departure 4 days later. It proved to be very annoying as you had to shower with it and sleep with it on. Throughout our stay people would ask us what "club" we went to last night, referring to the wrist band. Our room had 2 double beds and overlooked the driveway to the parking area. The room was comfortable and had wooden shutters on the door to let in light and (closed) to ensure privacy at night. Although there was a tall window with curtain the window itself was painted shut so the outside shutters couldn't be opened for additional light. The room was furnished in period pieces and was very charming. The only improvements could have been installation of hooks in the bathroom on the back of the door for robes or towels. Also, the water took quite a while in the morning to heat up for shaving or shower. Once it did it was fine. There were drawers beneath the bathroom sink to store personal belongings. There was a thermostat and ceiling fan with lights for air circulation and good sized flat screen TV. The hotel itself is very centrally located for access to everything in the French Quarter. "My favorite hotel in the French Quarter"
When I need a hotel in the French Quarter, I always try to get a room at Hotel Provencial. I feel like it's a local secret. Many people coming to the French Quarter for the first time will look for a room at a large chain hotel. I will always go for one of the older, local hotels and preferably Hotel Provencial. The Chartres street location is only […] a five minute walk from Bourbon Street, but far enough off that you don't have the noise and traffic. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Hotel Provincial NOLA"
Being that this was my first time in New Orleans, I wasn't sure what the best location would be-but this hotel was perfect! Staff was friendly and accommodating upon arrival. The location was perfect, just a couple blocks from Bourbon street and you can see the St. Louis cathedral from the hotel entrance. This made it so it was just close enough to […] everything to walk, but far enough away where you could sleep without the crazy noise on Bourbon. Hotel has gates that are monitored and closed at midnight so guests can only enter the courtyard area with a key. Hotel Provincial was very safe- I highly recommend this hotel and I can't wait to return to it on my next trip to New Orleans! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Location beats Hospitality"
Great location. Nice to have onsite parking. Hospitality was lukewarm, wasn't greeted with a smile or any interest and no real attempt to welcome us to NOLA or provide info. Didn't even realize they offered a free USA Today paper until the day I checked out. Nothing special about the breakfast fare or services. If you want a courtyard room or room facing […] the street then book direct with the hotel - you get luck of the draw with Expedia. Comments about building 5 are overwrought - it is fine, even if you face the parking area after all why spend time in your room when there is so much to explore! Small rooms but good beds....
