Had booked the hotel room for my finance and myself and our three girls. When we checked in they informed us that they had only rooms with two double beds. We asked them if they could provide a rollaway bed for one of the kids and they said that doing that was against fire code so no they could not. We ended up having one child sleep on the floor. Complimentary breakfast was included but when we got there (bar room and breakfast room are one and the same) there were only a few small tables and all of them were occupied with more people standing and eating the very limited breakfast buffet in their hands. We went a block away and found a better breakfast experience. I would suggest the same for you. Otherwise the hotel is in a great location and I would stay there again but not bring the kids.

We were pleasantly surprised when our reservation for a standard room with 2 beds turned out to be a larger room with a small sitting area complete with a sofa and coffee table. The hotel is situated just 2 blocks from the noisier Bourbon street yet it is in a quiet neighborhood. We have easy access (2-minute walk) to the Farmers Market where we can meet local grocers and craftspeople and buy local food and handmade crafts. We also like the fact that we can get to the Riverwalk quickly (5-minute walk) for a river cruise and, on a separate day, board the bus for a plantation tour . We recommend this hotel highly. Only drawback was there was no on-site laundry facility. We ended up using a service laundry (not self-service) about a block away.

This was our second stay at the Provincial; it's our hotel of choice within the Quarter. It's on a quieter end of the Quarter, wonderfully close to the French Market and LaTrobe Park and their lighter ambience (unlike boozy, busy Bourbon Street). Old-world charm, clean rooms with excellent bathroom appointments, reliably attentive service, and an exceptional bartender in their in-house bar (he makes the best Hurricane, bar none, but that's the least of his skills). Add in the convenience of on-site parking (though we didn't drive down this time) and tremendous bang for your buck, and I doubt we'll ever choose another hotel for our New Orleans visits.

Israel, the valet, Mike, the night front desk, and Kenny, the day front desk, were sooo helpful, patient, friendly, and welcoming. Every request was attended to promptly and with a great attitude. Directions and information were given in detail and with such friendliness. The rooms were nice - obviously an older building but modern amenities that kept the spirit of the place. The hotel is as described on the website. Super clean. Beautiful and peaceful patio area and the pool is gorgeous. Continental breakfast good. I stayed in rooms 107 and 203. Super location because it's only a few blocks from the craziness of Bourbon Street, so the hotel was quiet but it took only about five mins to walk there, and less to the Market. Close to Cafe du Monde and Natchez river boat tour. I'd definitely stay again, and be sure to walk along on one of the haunted house and hotel tours. No apparent paranormal activity in our rooms, though. :)

I was traveling by myself and wanted a hotel that was relaxing, quiet and cozy. The hotel was exactly like that. Was not inexpensive but it was a good location in french quarter. It is some walk from canal and bourbon st so from 3-4 blocks around the hotel there are not that many people in the night. So it can be a bit scary to walk in the night alone - but not that long walk. One thing that is good because it is far from crowd is that it is quiet. So not tooo far from the main touristic place but not tooo close. Also just 3-4 blocks away from frenchmen st if you want to go to jazz bars in the night. Breakfast and room wifi are included so that was nice. The courtyard and swimming pool are beautiful but very small. Rooms and hallways are clean and well maintained (of courde any hotel should be). Facility and room decoration makes you feel like you are in a small french town. One thing that was unique was that when you check in, a man guides you to the room and explains about the hotel and rules. This is unlike big hotels where you just check in and take the elevator by yourself. One thing that was not great was the concierge service. I expected that they would know a lot about where to visit, when popular places are open, which restaurants to try , but they didn't seem to know it well.

The hotel staff were wonderfully friendly, gracious and accommodating. The room was clean although relatively small, and exceptionally quiet. There are actually five buildings in the hotel and ours had been a military hospital in the Civil War. Guess they made walls extra thick back then, because Bourbon Street was two blocks away yet we heard nothing. A comfy bed is very important to me and I was not disappointed.

Boooked a short stay from Nov 14 -Nov 18, 2014. I live in Hamburg, NY (Buffalo) and that area of New York state got hit with the worst snow storm EVER!. Had to extend my stay for an additional 3 days. All of the staff at the Provincial are professional, personable, considerate, and accommodating. I've stayed in many different lodgings in New Orleans and I've found a new favorite in the Hotel Provincial. They were renovating during our stay so I didn't complain that our heat was faulty and it took SEVERAL minutes for the bathroom water to get hot - but not so serious that I needed to point it out during our stay. Our room and the overall atmosphere of this hotel was incredibly clean and otherwise well maintained. We took advantage of the continental breakfast each morning. Parking in the French Quarter is extremely difficult, so I appreciated that the valet parking was within the courtyards of this lodging. the valets were wonderful!! We never had to wait for our vehicles longer than 5 minutes (if even that long), and the hotel was sold out when we checked in. Away from the craziness of Bourbon Street, but close enough to everything in the French Quarter, the Marigny, Treme, and even the CBD. The Provincial Hotel will be my first choice for my next visit to New Orleans!

It was our first time in New Orleans and we wanted to stay at a place with some character and history. The Provincial Hotel provided both. We had a great time at the hotel. We knew about its past and how it is supposedly haunted. That actually added to the reason we wanted to stay here (nothing happened). It is very close (2 blocks) to Bourbon Street and to the French Market (1 block). The breakfast (continental) was good and well maintained. The hotel staff was able to help us out with whatever we needed and gave us great directions to get whatever we needed to get to. Will definitely will go back to New Orleans and would most likely stay here again.

We booked a stay over the Halloween weekend, and I was happy to see a place so close to Jackson Square, a few short blocks from both the French Market and Bourbon Street. The place is beautiful, with two swimming pools, four courtyards that we counted/stumbled upon, fountains, parking (we flew), and very comfortable guest rooms. We had booked a queen bed - and this bed had to be at least a king! The amenities were standard, and consistent. Plenty of towels, very good maid service. The hotel bar, The Ice Bar, is small but hosts impressive and professional bartenders. This is NOT a place to get your drunk on (despite having good prices and a happy hour). It's an old-school bar, and in my dozen or so travels to New Orleans, I have had exactly TWO superlative Sazeracs in New Orleans; The Carousel Bar in the Hotel Monteleone and here. In addition, the bartender took time to research a men's clothing store open past seven PM for me (not an easy task in the Quarter). I appreciate that level of helpfulness, and the quiet bar was a nice place to mellow out before braving the crowds. The front desk staff was efficient, yet oddly brusque. Maybe a bit jaded from dealing with people who took advantage or didn't appreciate the hotel's grown-up nature? Dunno, but it was the one odd spot in my experience. At best, they were friendly enough, and never exactly rude. We would certainly stay there again, though. Quiet location, good price, great bar.

I loved the location of the hotel on the eastern edge of the Quarter, convenient to everything but low key & quiet. The hotel staff was friendly, helpful & awesome: porters, front desk and particularly our new friend, Etienne who manned the Ice House Bar and was a great source of lore, insider tips, humor and fabulous libations! loved the atmosphere of the hotel and it's style. The hotel was very nice, comfortable and quiet. We were centrally located for us to walk to all the attractions that we wanted to see. I would definitely return to this hotel on my next trip back to New Orleans.

Bed was terrific. Shower not so. Bar terrific. Front desk could be friendlier but overall a great hotel in great location at a great price.

Hotel Provincial is a rambling complex of buildings encompassing charming, plant-filled courtyards, situated between the bustling Bourbon Street area and the French Market. The streetcar line and music-filled Frenchman Street are only a few blocks away, making this hotel, on one of the least busy but historical streets in the French Quarter, an ideal location for visitors seeking the feel, music and food of old New Orleans. Nevertheless, the standard room was not particularly inviting or comfortable. The bed was elevated to 30 inches above the floor and, with only one footstool to climb, one of us had to make a flying leap to get into bed. The bathroom was so tiny that it was difficult to close the door. There was only one chair and even that crowded the room. There is an elevator in only one of the several buildings. The coffee in the lobby was good, and the breakfast adequate.

The Hotel Provincial's location is wonderful, almost next door to the French Market but away from much of the French Quarter craziness. Inside you'll find a pleasant patio area and two separate pools. The hotel itself consists of five separate buildings. We were in Building 5. The exterior, while historic, is boring and is reached by walking through a tightly packed parking lot. The rooms are small by American standards but very tasteful. My only complaint was that the pillows were old and had lost their loft. My wife and I differ in our opinion about the staff. She thought them professional while I found the desk clerks a bit stuffy and not very knowledgeable when asked about local attractions. I also was unimpressed by the breakfast buffet, served in a very noisy bar area and consisting of nothing more than industrially packed sweet rolls, cereal, and bagels. We ended up going round the corner to a wonderful little bakery and bypassing the hotel food.

We had a great time. The food is always outstanding. We saw the wwII Museum and the Insectarium. Both were excellent. The street musicians are wonderful too. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The room was nicely furnished with an antique flavor. There was a lovely courtyard that was pleasant for sitting. This area allowed my husband to smoke a cigar. Since my husband walks with a cane, the location was perfect. There were two excellent restaurants within walking distance. Muriel's and Irene's.

My hotel stay was wonderful. I stayed in the garden area room and found it to be a true New Orleans dream. It was close to everything!!!! Ghost tours, Bourbon street, graveyard tours, Oceana(one of best foods, new orleans cooking school(took class and of course up 2 blocks from Beignet Cafe. The bed was extremely comfortible, the gardens were loving to sit in after walking around New Orleans all day. Everone throughout the hotel helpful and kind; I felt very safe. Ice house Bar fabulous bartender makes a mean hurricane.Beutiful Hotel...planning trip back in August!!!!!!! The rooms airconditioning just right to take break throughout day and cool down. Remember New Orleans hot in summer

This hotel is convenient to everything in the French Quarter. The restaurant around the corner, Irene's, is excellent. Will stay again on our next visit to NOLA.
