Hotel Shelley - Miami Beach

Needed a room for overnight trip to NBA Finals that I was taking my 11 year old son too. Wife and daughters wanted to come so needed a room in South Beach so they could have something to do. Booked Hotel Shelley on Hotels.com for a total of $79. Was clean and location was great. Rooms are small but nice. Location is perfect.

I thought the location was great. It is on collins ave which is one street over from the Main Drive. We stayed in room 310. When we arrived we valet our car for $32 dollars a night. The hotel has no elevator so if this is a must this is not the place for you. There was only 3 floors so it was not too bad to get to our room. When we got to our room the […] key was impossible. Be prepared to try the key slide several times. Once you get into the room it is nice and just perfect again for a short stay. If you valet your car please keep in mind that on a busy day it could be anywhere from 15 minutes to 45 minutes to get it. The room was small. You can barley get in the door the bed was in the way. There was a DJ in the lobby and i could hear the party going on till 3am not a good night sleep. overall a good party hotel a bad guest hotel!

This hotel has its own bar with DJ at night. The music is loud and will provide you to fall asleep! My room was located at the 2nd floor, and I cannot even imagine how loud it is on the 1st floor.

Hotel Chelsea was like Hotel Shelley, in that, loud trend mix playing in lobby which echoed down the first floor hallway. Expect more from a "3 Star" hotel.

Staff was great and attentive. Easy check in/out. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Bar in the lobby was perfect for midday drinks and just relaxing. Perfect location right in the middle of nightlife. Will definitely go back!

This is my third time staying at the Shelly. It has always been a great experience, friendly staf and great service. A plus the bar drinks are great and convinient when you do not want to walk the strip. Rooms are a bit small but vey nice AND CLEAN. Generally it was an ok experience in this hotel. We arrived and the receptionist told us that there was no room available. Which was really disappointing because according to hotels.com it was the cheapest deal in Miami. So we tried booking it via hotels.com and, what a surprise, there was a room available. Hotel was clean with great location. The hallway was extremely dark and unwelcoming. The small rooms didn't have enough light, especially in the hallway/closet area. The beds at Hotel Shelley are fabulous. I felt wrapped in a cocoon. The bathroom is nice and large and as a good shower, which is great bc we were showering 2-3 times day with all the sand from the beach. But the place has some real issues. It's really loud, especially around 5 am when the bars close. The front desk staff isn't particularly friendly, […] with the except of the guy with dreds. He smiles and says hi. Some of the other ones make you feel unwelcome. Some days our towels were taken and not replaced. But when the rooms were cleaned, they were cleaned really well. It's location is what makes it worthwhile--one black from the beach and a block from all the bars/restaurants. The concierges were great - very helpful and nice. I was particularly impressed by their ability to switch between languages. Location is in the middle of a bar scene, but I'm not a bar person so I wasn't into it. e to be clean to make you feel good about staying were clean - toilet, shower, sink, sheets, floor. But the window sills were dirty, and they had no screens. Pros- 1 block to Mango's & Ocean Drive, 2 blocks to beach, comfortable beds, air conditioning does work great, 80% clean room. The $30 Parking fee could be worse- they do let you have in and out privileges, however we found "chicharrones" wrappers in our car after the valet guys used is and the mileage was racked up. Cons- THE BATHROOM DOES NOT HAVE […] A FAN. This is more important than you would think if you have 4 people. There is about 1 foot of clearance around the beds if you're in a double, its a very tight squeeze, barely enough room for a suitcase. The maids just made our beds everyday, did not give us clean towels or toilet paper or anything above and beyond, we had to ask the front desk for basic things that would be standard in any Motel 6. The hallways perpetually smelled like weed. The "free happy hour" is a 2 oz watered down "mix drink" or the cheapest vodka, so don't book the hotel based on the "free happy hour". you can find better in SOBE like Hotel Astor, Hotel Chelsea or Ocean Five. Also you have to go through a big headache with the bartender with your ID and room list to prove you are staying in the hotel. The hotel is a block away from the beach and near shopping and restaurants. The hotel staff was very courteous and helpful. The room was very small, maybe a foot from the foot of the be to the wall. There are few accessible outlets. The internet only works in the lobby. Our room was in the back of the hotel, but if you are in the front rooms I can imagine […] it would be noisy because the lobby has a bar and constant hip hop and rap music. If you have never been to Miami be prepared for the exorbitant parking fees, $1.75 per hour on the street, $25 a day at the public lot, $32 for valet daily parking.
