Ocean Five Hotel - Miami Beach

The hotel was in a great location, about a block from the beach and right on Ocean Drive. I wasn't really in my room all that much so I didn't really mind it but my sister felt the room was not up to par. Her bed made loud creaking noises too. Overall it was just ok for the price.

We stayed at Ocean Five over a weekend to visit with friends and to see a Marlins game. We found the hotel easily and the staff was very pleasant. The location was perfect! I was concerned it might be a bit too far south as we had never stayed that far south on the beach before. We were pleasantly surprised that it was still extremely close to all that […] South Beach has to offer without the noise from South Beach.The only downside that we could mention were two things, first the parking is a bit pricey and is offered for self and valet parking at the same cost. It was very unorganized and it seemed that the valet wasn't concerned with retrieving the vehicle in a timely quick manner. Secondly the shower head in the room, while it looked very nice and clean, we found it's look outweighed it's usefulness. The shower was one of those overhead rainfall type designs and was not very effective for getting a good shower in. Overall we found Ocean Five to be a great place to stay! Read more

The Vallet consisted of parking your car in front of the hotel and walking to the parking lot to give the "Vallet" your key. When you wanted you car, you retrieved it yourself after getting your key from the front desk. This ain't Vallet. Adding insult to injury, they charge tax on top of that. Tax on parking? I enjoyed the location but the room had a smell that you got use to (to much wood in the room in held moisture). No coffee machine in the room. And if you do stay there(i would recommend it if u want a cheap location on south beach) and are only staying for 24 hours or less park in the garage on collins and 5th. paying 25 is INSANE.

I've stayed at Ocean Five on three occasions in the past four years. The service at the front desk is superb. The rooms are small though, so if you are traveling with a family it will be a tight squeeze unless you book a Suite instead of a basic room. There is a FREE continental breakfast at the adjacent restaurant. I was slightly disappointed with […] it though. It only had slices of bread that you can toast and apples in addition to the orange juice and coffee. If you want anything more, you have to order from the menu which requires an additional cost. Good location, near the beach and the nigth time in Miami Beach. There is basically no interest in receiving any kind of claim at the front desk. They are nice but do not deliver. Very nice hotel. Excellent location! Very nice people. Good internet. Good bed. Have to walk a bit to get ice and having a better TV and office /desk space would be nice but not a big deal for me. This was one of my worst hotel experiences ever. I had a room 6 steps up from the lobby, A/C that only worked sporadically, an awful room without a sofa or a dresser, and maid service that came 1 time during my 5-night stay. This is a sad sad place that is more expensive than the nice hotel I have stayed at across the street for less.

Great location a block from the beach and in easy walking distance to South Beach attractions. But the hotel itself is nothing special - just okay at best and probably unacceptable to some. Room was spartan and but a decent size and generaly clean. The exceptions were the nasty comforters on both beds. I wouldn't even recommend that they be washed - […] burning would be a better choice. Lobby and common areas were clean. Quite a bit of street noise at night - partiers yelling and bus & taxi horns honking. WiFi was available but I didn't try it. Skip the included breakfast: it was only juice, Italian white bread and a toaster, and whole oranges (which were too frozen to peel) and whole bannanas. Only stay at this place for its location and just to have a bed and a shower. If you want a room nice enough to spend time in or a reasonable breakfast look elsewhere. Read more

We got a last minute reservation at this hotel on New Years Eve, and we were pleased with the property. The location can't be beat, right at 5th and Ocean Drive in South Beach, allowing us to walk to all the restaurants and clubs. The hotel was located right in the heart of South Beach so the location is great. The parking is an additional charge per day, no pool, no view to the beach due to the buildings across the street blocking the view, and most important of all the bed is EXTREMELY ROCK HARD!!! I read mixed reviews about this hotel. Our experince was not the best. Our rooms were on the second floor of the same building as the reception desk.The lobby is pleasant enough as were the reception staff. No lift, so cases had to be carried up a narrow staircase. The bedroom corridor has no soundproofing whatsoever with hard floors and bad lighting.There […] were no door closers on the bedroom doors.The bedrooms had hard tiled floors and wooden shutters.Little sleep was had with people returning to their rooms late at night (4am, in one case), doors slamming constantly and loud conversations and laughter magnified to shouting levels and footsteps walking up and down the corridor. I would have got more sleep out on the street. The bedrooms,themselves,were both very small,as expected with an old Art Deco hotel but they were clean.The decor is very basic. The dark heavy furniture was too large for the small room. The worst part was the disgusting smell from the air-conditioning unit. We kept ours turned off. Maybe a good clean and a service would solve the problem.Uncomfortable beds and lumpy pillows. The bathroom was more pleasant to be in. The walk-in shower was fine. Great location, just about the only good thing to say. Very smelly basic room with not much to look at outside the window. Air conditioner in room very noisy while sleeping at night. The hotel needs modernising but the art deco features was nice. First day the toilet flush didn't work & when they finally sent someone he couldn't speak a word of English, […] so a simple repair job took ages to fix. T.V remote did not work either, so they gave us one that only changed channels & volume control. Breakfast was a joke, some bread, coffee & bananas. We had ours at a cafe near by. Don't rent a car recommended by the hotel. We did & the one they provided us was a death trap. We returned the car & opted for a reputable company. Be warned?? Positiv: Das Hotelpersonal war zu jeder Zeit sehr nett. Das Hotel liegt sehr nahe an der abendlichen Ausgehmeile und nur zwei Minuten vom Strand. Negativ: Sehr kleine und sehr veraltete Räumlichkeiten, Fenster nicht zu öffenen, Ausblick direkt auf gegenüberliegende Häuserwand. Badezimmer sehr klein und schmuddelig. Die sehr alten und mittlerweile dunklen […] Fliesen sind groß-offenporig entsprechend ist der Schmutz der vergangenen 100 Jahre darinnen gefangen.
