The rooms were quiet, but there was mold growing in shower, the controls for the shower were difficult to regulate the temperature. Hotel casino forced you which they probably want to go through anywhere you wanted to go. So it is impossible to avoid the smoke! It is at the very end of the stip not convenient, but did have the monorail there to help. It did breakdown once when we were there.

The room was filthy. The bathroom tub had disgusting hair in it, the sheets were stained, couch had gross stray hairs on it. We called housekeeping which was a joke. She literally did nothing!!!!!! We took it upon ourselves to disinfect the bathroom etc... If you intend on doing a lot of sight seeing you are kind of removed from the Las Vegas strip; get your walking shoes ready. The taxi rides to & from get expensive. The resort itself, the pools etc are very nice.

Mandalay Bay has everything you would want in a Vegas vacation, especially if you're here for a short 2-3 day stay. Only 2 negatives keep it from being a place I'd come back to as my only Vegas retreat, but I would come back. I love walking around the Palazzo-Caesars-Bellagio-Wynn area and Mandalay Bay is about a 3 mile walk from that area. Driving is near impossible on the strip what with the city center construction, but if you know (or your cabbie does) your way around the back roads it is navigable. Also, we upgraded to the 750 sq ft suite and it still paled next to the standard room at the Palazzo and 1 of the sofas was in real need of recovering.

The hotel is really quite beautiful, and the rooms are both spacious and very well appointed. Comfy furniture, nice lighting options and an oversized spacious bathroom make the room more than simply a place to park your suitcase. I'd also give the pool amenities and general layout high marks. My only dings are that the overall floorspace is a little overwhelming, and I really didn't like the walk to the restaurants through the casino area. Its location on the far southern end of LV Boulevard is quite convenient to the airport, but overall cut off from the rest of Vegas. If you're going to stay there and want to walk around the town, Mandalay Bay is more of an isolation than the center of it all. Overall, it was very good and I'd definitely consider staying there again.

The facilities are great but the service is terrible. It took us one hour to check in (waiting in the check in line) and I could not get anyone to answer the maid line -- I had to leave the room and look for some staff in order to get help. The hotel was definitely understaffed. Also, the waiting line for the lifts were bad -- I am not sure whether some lifts were not in operation at the time of our visit or the hotel has less lifts than needed. For the price I paid, I still recommend this hotel.

Self parking and carrying all the bags was very silly especially for a 4 star hotel. besides that, it's a great price to pay...

Reviewed by Tara of Severna Park on Dec 1, 2009
The hotel is very nice, the room large and beds comfortable. We swam in the heated pool (one was open 9-5). Like all casino hotels, it was smokey on the main floor. The stylish room had shutter style bathroom doors which did not meet in the middle. With a family, this did not afford privacy (clear glass shower door straight through) and the noise of latching the doors woke the others up at times. The hotel charges for extra persons (which we paid) but only set up the room for two. We had to call for extra glasses, towels and toiletries. No coffee maker or fridge. Minor things really, with the room/bath. The hotel is at the end of the strip, but there is a tram that runs to Excalibur and the Luxor. It was great, when it ran. Though it is to run 24/7, a number of times it was not in service, lengthening the long walk up the strip. Check in and out was easy. Free self parking. Really nice hotel with a few glitches.

Mandalay Bay is a cut below the big names like Palazzo-Venetian, Wynn & Bellagio but certainly has all you'd want in a Vegas vacation at a significantly lower price. Plenty of great dining options, plentiful gaming tables and slots and proximity to the airport are a plus and the Shark Reef is a treat. Rooms could use upgrading a bit, location is pretty far from Strip North area.

When I go to Las Vegas, I stay at the Mandalay Bay. In my past experiences, it has the nicest standard rooms on the strip. However, this last trip, the room I got was very run down. The shower door and the bed appeared to be falling apart. I also requested a king bed, but all they had was a room with 2 queen beds. As it was a full weekend, I couldn't change rooms. It was a fantastic room, and its shabbiness didn't in any way affect my visit. I was disappointed to pay as much as I did and get the substandard quality.

Baggage was at the door by the time we were off the elevator.Room was clean, exceptional in size and appointments, unfortunatly all mini bar and munchies were overpriced. The mini bar had sensors on the compartments with the "you touch you buy" condition. Our view was outstanding, the casino Huge, the Disco was soo much fun and lively even during the week. Some of the other bars were not as accomodating over priced & bartenders were a bit on the snobish side. House of Blues was a great value during the week serving a happy hour between 3pm-7pm with 1/2off ordrves 1-2$beers 3$ drinks... but when Fri rolled around and they had a special event no advance notice was given and they shut the bar down to non invited guests.Shark reef exibit was worth the price as well as the value packs they offered pick 3 for $54.The Titantic attraction was part of our 3pk and was futher inhanced by Noveal, the docent whos knowledge of the exhibit was right on and what he didn't know, would make sure you know by the end of the tour. We saw alot of things while in Vegas, but our home base of the mandalay was elegant, comfortable and always a relief to return to after the excitement of Vegas.

We booked three rooms at the Mandalay Bay for a small family reunion, and everyone totally enjoyed the stay. This resort is very convenient to the Airport, and transportation via the monorail or taxi to other hotels, restaurants, casinos, and shopping on the Strip is a snap. We visited nearly all the luxury hotels and casinos in town and not once wished we were staying anywhere else. We noticed the air in Mandalay Bay's Casino to seem fresher and more smoke-free than at most any other, and that alone convinced us not to spend time at the slots or tables anywhere else. With a great assortment of restaurants, lounges, shopping, and the Wave Pool and Beach, Mandalay Bay is a great choice for a romantic couple or family to enjoy Las Vegas, and we'll definitely return there.
