Location is excellent. Staff is very courteous and helpful. Rooms are small but very nice. All in all a very pleasant experience . Beautiful, contemporary lobby.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good hotel stay"
The only other W I've stayed at is the one in Midtown Manhattan. One thing that annoys me about the hotel are the add-on costs. For example, needing to pay for internet. Seems ridiculous when both many other budget and luxurious hotels I've stayed at provide free internet. Less of an annoyance since I don't care about renting movies while there but […] also seems kind of ridiculous that renting movies for 24 hours on their TVs can be like $9-$17 or more. That aside, on the hotel specifically, room was good though could get noisy with above ground subway going by and when I think trash would be picked up in the night or something. Staff was friendly and helpful. Bathroom door was a sliding door that didn't fully close which was a little weird. First time in Chicago and did a little walking around the area but mainly went to restaurants and stuff in the magnificent mile area above the river. Don't know if any great restaurants and stuff are around the hotel, but may not have known or missed them. Would prefer to stay closer to the water/mag mile next time. Too bad the hotel isn't closer in that area. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Charging for wifi in 2014 is over rated. Just used JW marriot wifi from my room. If you call tech support for jw they just give you a free code. Seems like the W Chicago city center nickel and dimes you, so be careful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent service, gorgeous hotel"
We had an excellent stay at the W. It was nice to be greeted by incredibly friendly people who seemed genuinely interested in making our stay as pleasant as possible. Not only was the staff knowledgeable and friendly, the rooms were comfortable and tastefully done. The products in the bathroom are very nice and we appreciated the extra touch. We'll […] definitely return to the W and look forward to it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Could have been better."
Nice hotel if you are looking for a night club type of environment. But if you are looking for a nice quite night or weekend away I would not recommend this hotel. Definitely would not take children here. Staff was good and helpful. Facilities for the price not at all what I expected. Rooms were small and the hotel is located next two the a cta train […] station so you here that constantly. Parking is overpriced at $49.95 per night for valet service. Overall, it was just okay. "Excellent overnight stay"
We were able to check in early, which was great for a nap before dinner. Within walking distance of shopping/restaurants/bars/Union Station. Excellent staff, clean rooms, comfy bed. Only negative was no coffee maker in the room, but that's just an inconvenience. I would recommend!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

The hotel staff were polite and attentive to any of our needs. The lobby area was fun at night time and club-like. Definitely a good hotel for a hip and classy crowd.Genuine Expedia guest review

"The good side of what you expect in the South Loop"
The south Loop is what it is: full of convenient mid-sized chain restaurants and business clothiers, otherwise kinda dull. Near the park, though, which was nice. Outside the room, the hotel is great. Like any W, it tries a bit too hard to be cool but is well staffed, spotless, and outfitted with any amenity one may imagine (for a small price, obviously). […] The room was mostly great; the desk and bathroom were both quite nice. It did have a couple issues that were small but so nonsensical they stick out: the underbed light couldn't be turned off (near as I could tell), the blind was broken and so hung at a weird angle when open, and the TV contrast was too low even to see the menu that would let me figure out how to turn it up. So no TV for me. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not a 4 star but ok"
The regular room is half the size of the 4 seasons rooms when i upgraded in rooms it didnt even have a jacuzzi in it like the 4 seasons has. Then the train felt like it was right next to our room, running every 10-15 minutes and our scenery was bad because we were facing another building. This was my first and last time coming to this hotel i'll just […] continue to go to the 4 seasons. The room was dirty still, I'm glad the bed was made, the lobby was amazing, the rest, ha the pics they post ate what got me there, what I received, not so much, I would stay at the motel, before this hotel again, and there parking service, that was the worst part of the stay.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Nice hotel, yet unnecessary 200$ hold on credit c."
it is a very cozy hotel with beautiful rooms but they are kind of greedy! they charge 5$ on a small bottle of water in the room where other hotels water is free! they also hold 200$ in your credit card which is exaggerated and it ruins ur budget!Genuine Expedia guest review
Liked the location of this hotel. However would stay closer to the bars and night life if I went back (it was about a 15 minute walk to the nightlife). The hotel was nice. Room was a little small (king sized bed). Parking not included and be careful where you chose to park! Use the app spot hero to avoid costly parking fees. Staff was nice. Very clean […] hotel. "Modern comfortable hotel...bad restaurant"
I was in town for a night visiting friends and we wanted a late night bite at the hotel but the appetizer was horrible so we decided to cancel. The hotel is nice and modern with a comfy bed. "Better value than surrounding hotels."
I have stayed at the W numerous times and keep going back. That is not because they are an excellent hotel but simply that in that area of the Loop it is a better value than the surrounding (walking distance from my meeting location) hotels. Often the rooms are noisy because of the location near the loop, or if you ask for a room on the other side of […] the building you get traffic and construction noise. I usually arrive around 10 PM and just want to get a good sleep before my morning meetings so I don't worry too much about the other stuff. This time I had a very quiet room but it was tiny. The counter in the bathroom was literally about 2' X 2' with the sink in the middle. The bathtub was only about 5' X 2.5' and it was difficult to walk in the room without stubbing your toe on something. Also, FYI the cell phone coverage in the guest computer area is very poor so you can't talk while using the computers. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"5 Star worker rates this a 4.5*"
I work at a 5 star hotel and this place blew me away. My expectations were that this would just simply be a room I slept in while I had a blast during my weekend getaway. To my surprise the room and hotel atmosphere was more than I anticipated. The front desk host was so gracious, the concierge took our bags so we could walk around the town, we checked […] in early, was sent up a slice of birthday cake and small bottle of wine, our extra bed was promo-ed for the birthday girl, and the front desk delivered a small box fan to my room within minutes of my request. The hotel is breath taking and edgy. The perfect spot for a celebration. I am just in love. Stayed here both time I visited and was "wowed" both times. I tip my hat to you. Keep it up and you'll be Five-Star in no time! The hotel was amazing. It was very clean and the bed/pillows were so comfortable. The staff was super friendly and very helpful. The 1st room smell bad, like a damp basement. The next room I went in 614, has peeling paint in bathroom, on the uneven framed wall, there was sauce behind the top of TV, there was a stained lampshade by bed, & a crayon mark on window sill. Didn't expect those imperfections at the W Hotel. Alex Coles Author of: "Unheard Spoken Word"Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Fun, funky hotel in Loop"
I was at the W for a Saturday night. The hotel itself has a nightclub-like atmosphere - there's even a disco ball in the lobby. The room I was in was very compact, but comfortable and well-designed. My only complaint is that the walls between the rooms are thin, and noise transference can be an issue.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Downtown Business Stay Done Right"
Great service from the moment we pulled up at the hotel. The hotel itself feels like an older building that has been thoughtfully renovated, though still has some of the restrictions of the original design, thus a slight pull down on ratings, otherwise a great place to stay for the service and location (as all our business was happening a block away […] with coffee & pharmacy choices half a block in either direction). Super clean as well. Kudos, W! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel with some issues"
The room was very nice. Halls were clean also. However the main lobby was very dark and not very inviting. "Decent price for downtown hotel."
Stayed 2 nights with my wife for our anniversary. The good news- The hotel is at a great location just a few blocks from union Station. The price was very reasonable and the room was very nice. The bad news- The lobby set up is HORRIBLE. When we walked in, we had to push our way through a sea of loud, drunken guests that overflowed from the bar throughout […] the lobby. Loud, drunk, obnoxious people yelling & cursing is a real turn off for me to book here again.... Then it took over 20 minutes to check in because they had screwed up the reservation and had the wrong type of room ready for us. They did correct it & offered us free wifi during our stay though.... Got to the room and although the room was TINY, it was very nice. (At first glance anyway.) When I set our suitcase in the couch, I noticed a stain. Without getting graphic, the stain was a bodily fluid. When I called the front desk I was told that the best they could do is give me a sheet to put over it until they could get it cleaned.... Gross. It is worth mentioning that the train runs RIGHT NEXT to the hotel. And although you'll hear it go by every 5 minutes, it's not THAT bad. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Pocket doors, beware"
The rooms are always nice in the W, but ride the line on privacy and comfort. The room was spacious but the bathroom had a pocket door that lets you hear everything, there's a leisure chair that was no more comfortable then squatting, and it'd also be helpful if the rooms came with more than one luggage rack. Overall, a big eh!Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel was clean and staff was friendly when they were around. Mostly I was told that there would be coffee and there wasn't. I was told my car would be available and it wasn't. When my car did arrive, the valet had burned out the clutch and would not admit or apologize for it. Overall a hip place but the facade doesn't make up for their lack of acc […] ountability. "Truly loved it"
I picked this hotel since I had several discounts available and because of its location. The rate of the room wasn't that expensive to start with. As soon as I entered I was shocked. The lobby was really more like a modern lounge with low lighting, comfortable sitting areas and a bar. The staff and concierge were very very friendly. The room itself […] was amazing as well. Very spacious and modern looking. The minibar and snacks were well supplied but as expected, a bit pricey. The bathroom was quite large however the shower was average sized. The door is a sliding door with no lock, the bathroom also lacked a fan. The location was perfect, close to the train station, close to downtown, and restaurants/coffee places right next door. They also offer 24 hour room service. I really enjoyed my stay, I would gladly pay the full price next time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice rooms, but beware the nickel and dime"
I recently stayed at the W for a business trip. The room was nice and clean - which one would expect - and convenient to the office I was visiting. I just have a couple of cautions if you choose to stay here. The first regards the choice of rooms. I was given a choice between a city view or courtyard view. The front desk clerk warned me that the city […] view did get some "city noise" but had better views. I've stayed in cities - there are dumpsters, sirens, car alarms, etc. so I didn't think it was a big deal, plus I was on the 17th floor. The "city noise" was actually the El going by on a fairly regular basis (though thankfully it is less frequent at night). The noise was roughly equivalent to the jet airplane noise at a hotel near an airport. I'm glad I was not lower down. The second issue the nickel and diming with the water an internet service. The room is stocked with water, but $5 a bottle is a bit excessive. Similarly, $15 a day for internet service seems a bit pricy, especially when most business hotels throw it in for free. In most other aspects, this seemed to be representative of what ot expect from a W but I think I will try other hotels in the Loop on the next trip. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Noisy. No actual Courtyard. Staff makes up for it."
It's loud being right next to the loop even though they said they were giving us one of the quieter "courtyard" rooms. Everything cost something including use of internet in the room. One complimentary water. But the check in staff and the concierge were all very friendly and helpful and took their time answering our questions.Genuine Expedia guest review

"A young, trendy vibe."
We were in town heading to South Bend for a Notre Dame game. Wanted to stay somewhere close to the attractions that one might want to see in Chicago. The W fit was perfect for that. It was around a $35 cab ride from Midway with 3 passengers, and once their we were able to walk over to Michigan Avenue and down to the Chicago River to see more of the […] Chicago downtown. It is close to Soldier Field, the Field Museum, and shopping for the ladies. In short, we loved the location. The hotel was nice and meet all of our needs, but we didn't spend a lot of time hanging out there. When you walk in, it kind of has a Las Vegas lounge time atmosphere. There is loud (not overbearing, just not your typical hotel theme) music playing once you come in off the street. At the time of our stay (late Nov.) it seemed like the crowd was younger, late 20's to yearly 30's. Overall, we would stay at the W again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wireless should be free. Duh."
I had an excellent experience, with one exception: This ultra-premium hotel charges an extra fee for in-room wireless. This is 2013, not 1993. Wireless is as much a part of a hotel room as a sink. Charging extra for it is like installing a pay toilet. I'll be darned if I'll be nickel-and-dimed for wireless after paying a lot for the room and for dinner. […] It's ridiculous and sure to offend. Hear me loud and clear, W: Get used to the idea that everyone brings their iPad and expects it to work without paying extra. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
