"Nice hotel with some issues"
The room was very nice. Halls were clean also. However the main lobby was very dark and not very inviting. We had a 3 night stay right after Xmas and they seemed very short staffed and some of the staff were not very attentive. They also could not get our checkout day correct (they had at least 4 different staff knock on our door and ask when we were […] leaving the day before we were to check out). Finally, we had to go to the front desk and get it correct. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"smallest room ever"
The location and the service was good. The room was tiny! The smallest bathroom I have ever been in. I was VERY disappointed with this W. I would expect more from a room thats 250$ a night. I will never stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Decent price for downtown hotel."
Stayed 2 nights with my wife for our anniversary. The good news- The hotel is at a great location just a few blocks from union Station. The price was very reasonable and the room was very nice. The bad news- The lobby set up is HORRIBLE. When we walked in, we had to push our way through a sea of loud, drunken guests that overflowed from the bar throughout […] the lobby. Loud, drunk, obnoxious people yelling & cursing is a real turn off for me to book here again.... Then it took over 20 minutes to check in because they had screwed up the reservation and had the wrong type of room ready for us. They did correct it & offered us free wifi during our stay though.... Got to the room and although the room was TINY, it was very nice. (At first glance anyway.) When I set our suitcase in the couch, I noticed a stain. Without getting graphic, the stain was a bodily fluid. When I called the front desk I was told that the best they could do is give me a sheet to put over it until they could get it cleaned.... Gross. It is worth mentioning that the train runs RIGHT NEXT to the hotel. And although you'll hear it go by every 5 minutes, it's not THAT bad. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

The hotel has $10 snacks that are conveniently located next to the free complementary snacks..... ;( I didnt fall for it but if you had kids, this could easily happenGenuine Expedia guest review
"Pocket doors, beware"
The rooms are always nice in the W, but ride the line on privacy and comfort. The room was spacious but the bathroom had a pocket door that lets you hear everything, there's a leisure chair that was no more comfortable then squatting, and it'd also be helpful if the rooms came with more than one luggage rack. Overall, a big eh!Genuine Expedia guest review
Hotel was clean and staff was friendly when they were around. Mostly I was told that there would be coffee and there wasn't. I was told my car would be available and it wasn't. When my car did arrive, the valet had burned out the clutch and would not admit or apologize for it. Overall a hip place but the facade doesn't make up for their lack of acc […] ountability. "Truly loved it"
I picked this hotel since I had several discounts available and because of its location. The rate of the room wasn't that expensive to start with. As soon as I entered I was shocked. The lobby was really more like a modern lounge with low lighting, comfortable sitting areas and a bar. The staff and concierge were very very friendly. The room itself […] was amazing as well. Very spacious and modern looking. The minibar and snacks were well supplied but as expected, a bit pricey. The bathroom was quite large however the shower was average sized. The door is a sliding door with no lock, the bathroom also lacked a fan. The location was perfect, close to the train station, close to downtown, and restaurants/coffee places right next door. They also offer 24 hour room service. I really enjoyed my stay, I would gladly pay the full price next time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice rooms, but beware the nickel and dime"
I recently stayed at the W for a business trip. The room was nice and clean - which one would expect - and convenient to the office I was visiting. I just have a couple of cautions if you choose to stay here. The first regards the choice of rooms. I was given a choice between a city view or courtyard view. The front desk clerk warned me that the city […] view did get some "city noise" but had better views. I've stayed in cities - there are dumpsters, sirens, car alarms, etc. so I didn't think it was a big deal, plus I was on the 17th floor. The "city noise" was actually the El going by on a fairly regular basis (though thankfully it is less frequent at night). The noise was roughly equivalent to the jet airplane noise at a hotel near an airport. I'm glad I was not lower down. The second issue the nickel and diming with the water an internet service. The room is stocked with water, but $5 a bottle is a bit excessive. Similarly, $15 a day for internet service seems a bit pricy, especially when most business hotels throw it in for free. In most other aspects, this seemed to be representative of what ot expect from a W but I think I will try other hotels in the Loop on the next trip. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect hotel and location for time in Chicago"
Stayed here to visit some friends, do some shopping, and see done sites. Very social hotel bar, nice rooms. Super comfortable bed and rooms wired for the tech traveler. Loved it. Will definitely stay here again. Zero complaints or recommendations . Stay super friendly and helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Noisy. No actual Courtyard. Staff makes up for it."
It's loud being right next to the loop even though they said they were giving us one of the quieter "courtyard" rooms. Everything cost something including use of internet in the room. One complimentary water. But the check in staff and the concierge were all very friendly and helpful and took their time answering our questions.Genuine Expedia guest review
Clean. Wonderful staff. Stayed before when front desk was over on side. Not sure I like it near concierge deskGenuine Expedia guest review
"A young, trendy vibe."
We were in town heading to South Bend for a Notre Dame game. Wanted to stay somewhere close to the attractions that one might want to see in Chicago. The W fit was perfect for that. It was around a $35 cab ride from Midway with 3 passengers, and once their we were able to walk over to Michigan Avenue and down to the Chicago River to see more of the […] Chicago downtown. It is close to Soldier Field, the Field Museum, and shopping for the ladies. In short, we loved the location. The hotel was nice and meet all of our needs, but we didn't spend a lot of time hanging out there. When you walk in, it kind of has a Las Vegas lounge time atmosphere. There is loud (not overbearing, just not your typical hotel theme) music playing once you come in off the street. At the time of our stay (late Nov.) it seemed like the crowd was younger, late 20's to yearly 30's. Overall, we would stay at the W again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wireless should be free. Duh."
I had an excellent experience, with one exception: This ultra-premium hotel charges an extra fee for in-room wireless. This is 2013, not 1993. Wireless is as much a part of a hotel room as a sink. Charging extra for it is like installing a pay toilet. I'll be darned if I'll be nickel-and-dimed for wireless after paying a lot for the room and for dinner. […] It's ridiculous and sure to offend. Hear me loud and clear, W: Get used to the idea that everyone brings their iPad and expects it to work without paying extra. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"I do not recommend this hotel!"
The staff is terrible, by far the worst experience I have ever had a hotel before. The staff will treat you like crap; the only thing that made this hotel somewhat tolerable was the manager Chris. Chris did his best to try and turn our experience around but it did not work.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel in the middle of everything but safe"
Beautiful hotel! The staff was absolutely amazing and so helpful. There to answer all your questions and help with your needs. Was a little put of that they expected a tip for everything that they did over an over again. Excellent location and very clean and safe ! Will definitely stay there againGenuine Expedia guest review
"Ok but not up to "W" standards"
I could stayed at the lakeshore W but decided this one would be worth a try - wrong! Don't go to this W bcs it may as well be any other hotel...Genuine Expedia guest review

"Convenient location, great room, fun atmosphere!"
This hotel is located in the loop, is near L stations, and is a mile or two from shopping on the Mag Mile. The room is very comfortable and has great amenities for your stay if you are used to nice things. The lobby is fun if a club-like lounge is your scene. If the weather is bad, you can just party there!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel with Friendly Staff"
There is a somewhat gothic theme alike most W hotels. Hotel is clean and service is top notch. Location is prime for just about everything. The bars are a small stroll away and staff are open to providing suggestions. I would however comment that W Hotels as a whole are a bit pricy for what you get. I only book when there are deals and wouldn’t necessarily […] buy into paying full bore. The rooms tend to be small to include the upgraded ones. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel in the loop"
We arrived early and wanted to store our bags... Instead they upgraded our room and check us in immediately which was fantastic as it was 7am way before checkin time. The staff and concierge knew the city, recommended great restaurants and sites to see.. There were always cabs when you walked out the doors.. The room and bathroom was big and very clean.. […] The bed was too and plush for me, I like a firm mattress so that is my only complaint. Others complained about the noise and the train does run close to the hotel but we were facing a different direction and hear no city noise at all. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"gorgeous but the room"
check in was a breeze and hotel is beautiful inside but bedroom wasn't so much. bathroom was far too cluttered with stuff to make sink useable. bed was very comfortable. Courtyard view is maintenance /industrial and depressing no "view" at all.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

My husband and I thought the Lobby design and feel were cool. Our bed in our room was a bit stiff and you don't get free wi-fi and the hotel parking was 60$ a night!!! that's outrageous! I've stayed here several times. The hotel is clean, reasonably priced, and the staff is great. "Great place to stay"
Great clean rooms, nice staff and great location. If you are use to city noise (taxis, L, door mans whistle) this is the place for you. Hip modern vibe with a lot going on.Genuine Expedia guest review
Pretty good hotel - lack enough people at the check-in (front desk). Fitness center is fairly good. Slightly out of the way if you want to be in the happening/shopping area of Michigan Ave. However, rates are better on the weekends generally.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Typical of the W brand, this location is lively, clean, and makes for an excellent Loop stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Great location. Staff was amazing and helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Stayed at the W because of its locatin. i had stayed once before and found it great and very pleasant. This stay was less satisfying. The room was tiny with barely enough room to move around the bed, no close or any place to hang things out. Fortunately I was traveling alone and light. just adding a large suticase to the room would have made in very […] difficult to move around the room. Booked this room for an impromptu getaway with my husband overnight. The hotel was great overall. the room was very modern and big and comfortable. the only strange thing was that the toilet was in the SMALLEST little room I've ever seen. if you're tall, you'd have trouble maneuvering in there. when you stand up, you hit your head/knees on the wall […] in front of you! ...other than that, a fantastic stay at the W. "Modern and upbeat hotel. Great staff"
The location was ideal, in walking distance of theaters and some nice restaurants. Our room was modern, comfortable but small. We didn't spend much time in the hotel, but it had a very inviting atmosphere. Overall, a lovely stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not worth the money"
This hotel was well below my expectations. To start off with, the neighborhood isn't very nice, I will stay further north next time. The rooms are tiny and filled with IKEA furniture. They reminded me of Miami rooms but in Miami they dont charge over $300/night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The W never fails to live up to it's reputation of modern appeal and swanky feel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very Nice Hotel"
Tiny rooms and maybe not as nice as other W's, but a very nice hotel nonetheless. Great location, helpful staff, clean. Easy walk to places of interest, restaurants and bars in an area that felt safe. Quick trip on the orange line to/from Midway. No problems.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"In a word....horrible!"
We chose the Q because of location. For the price we could have stayed just about anywhere. When we checked in we were asked if we wanted a city view or courtyard view. We chose the courtyard view which turned out to be nothing more than air conditioners and a large W. Then there is the room. It was so tiny there was barely enough room for the bed. […] You could barely walk around the bed. The sink in the bathroom is tiny too. You could barely wash your face. My girlfriend called the desk and asked if we could get a larger room. We were told an upgrade would be $50 per night. We also thought Internet was included. It was not but at checkout it was removed from our bill. For the price I think I would stay across the street at the Marriot next time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I wanted a hotel as near by to everything as possible and this definitely was the perfect location. It was close to everything or a taxi away to the navy pier. The staff was very kind and friendly. The rooms were clean but the only issue I had was with the bathroom door. There is zero privacy because it doesn't close all the way so you can hear everything […] that is going on in the bathroom out by the bed. They should really fix that because its very uncomfortable. The hotel was beautiful, rooms were very nice and clean, but very small. Bathroom did not allow for much privacy, but perfect if you're staying alone. The concierge service was excellent, they gave us recommendations for places to eat and even helped us avoid a very long wait to be seated at one of Chicago's famous restaurants.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Should've picked the other W in Chi"
I was fine with the IKEA-esque furniture, but the bathroom was really disappointing. The shower was small, the door didn't close all the way, and items that you would find at the most basic hotel (e.g., bar soap, shower cap) were not provided. I was ignored by staff twice during my stay. The first is when I tried to inquire about car service. Despite […] standing right in front of the woman (next to the concierge), she ignored me until I addressed her. Later, I needed a cab and despite the male attendant who just hailed a cab for another set of guests, I was forced to hail my own cab at the corner like I wasn't a guest. The attendant actually looked up and saw me hailing the cab and did not intervene; he didn't even acknowledge me. This is not the W that I'm used to. However, there was a female attendant who was very helpful every time we encountered her. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"First time in Chicago."
Loved the location of the hotel. Very close to things we wanted to see and do. Very easy to walk to restaurants and shopping. We were not used to the city noise so the train was a bit annoying; I think that comes with being downtown in a large city. Loved Chicago.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was very nice, rooms were clean and very modern. Everything that we wanted to visit was within a mile from the hotel which means no driving!!!Genuine Expedia guest review
We were in town for a wedding at the Hard Rock & for the amount of time we spent at the hotel, everything we encountered was great! We loved that there was a car that would take you to where you needed to go (5 mike radius). That was helpful for getting to the Hard Rock on Friday & Saturday. We would definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Rooms are small"
The room was small. That being said we were there to sleep and not to hang out in a hotel room. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was small as well. A high BMI individual may find the toilet seat a tad claustrophobic. Loved the lemon scented soaps.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
