Stay was fantastic, and room was great. We had a corner room, which was more roomy than others in the hotel. Bathroom was tiny but functional if you're ok with getting ready one-at-a-time. We did have to call to get our room made-up after returning on a Saturday evening, but it was probably our fault since we slept in late Saturday morning. For the money this room was below standards. The bathroom was the size of an airplane bathroom - it was way way way too small. There was no coffee maker in the room. I will never stay here again.

Hotel lobby felt like a lounge and a complementary cocktail in the Living Room bar was a nice way to start the vacation. Room was clean and modern. However bathroom was on the small side.

We took the advice of other reviewers and requested a room away from the elevator. We didn't have any issues with noise. We were on the 10th floor, and you could hear the El Train occasionally but it was very muted. The lobby has a very odd nightclub vibe, but all in all, it was a nice place to stay.

Overall, I was certainly pleased with my stay, particularly given the great rate I got on hotels.com. The room was clean, everyone on the hotel staff was friendly and efficient, and I really appreciated ammenities such as free newspaper and coffee in the hotel lobby, Bliss products in the room, etc. For the W chain though, this hotel was just average […] - room was small, with a terrible review of a rooftop below, and not as sleek as other W hotels I have stayed at. Biggest complaint is the thin walls - neighbors kept me up in the middle of the night and I don't even think they were talking exceptionally loud. And that's considering I requested -- and was given - a "quiet" room, which I was told, unlike some of the hotel's other rooms, did not back up against the L train. Also, if you are planning to spend a lot of your time in Chicago around the Mag Mile, Gold Coast, etc., please know this isn't the hotel for you if you want to be in walking distance. We were woken up twice during the early morning Saturday on the 10th floor. The first time a guy and girl decided to get in a fight in their room down the hall at 3:30 AM. The second time down the hall another couple decided to get into a shouting match around 4:30 AM. Both instances lasted for a good 15 minutes before we had silence. Yes they wowed us...everyone from the valet parking guys to Laurelin, the concierge that spend some time finding a great comedy club for us in the area and booked it for us.; this was the best, friendliest service we received from a hotel in years! The major annoyance with this hotel is that they charge you for internet and computer use. For the price I paid for my room (I got the spectacular room), this is an expected amenity, especially in this day and age when coffee shops provide […] free Wi-Fi access. My fiancé decided to treat ourselves and stay at the W while in town for a wedding to celebrate our recent engagement. We arrived at 3:40pm to check in, which is 40 minutes after the recommended check-in time, at this time we were told that no rooms were available for check-in. We had to change after our drive for a wedding we needed to leave for in […] an hour. The front desk personel did apologize but that doesn't really do much when you think you're going to be late to a wedding you traveled to get to. We had to sit in the lobby and wait and we were told that maybe we'd get a room. Fortunately, one opened up giving us only 15 minutes to shower and change. Then the room. It was the smallest hotel room I've ever seen in my life, my fiancé and I couldnt even stand next to each other at the end of the bed, it was that small. There was nothing special to warrant the outrageous fee and no one ever contacted us again regarding our inconvienances. I will never stay at the W or recommend it to anyone ever again. The bathroom was literally no bigger than a closet. I've stayed here before and gotten much nicer rooms (even in the "Wonderful" category, which is the W's lowest tier) so they must save all the tiny rooms for hotel.com bookings.
