"A night in the city."
Quick, early check in, quiet, and easy checkout. No problems, be careful not to consume any items in the room. Fortunately the price us listed to deter you. An older hotel with updated looks.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Small Room but wonderful staff"
When my wife and I checked in, we were informed that we would be getting an upgraded room since we were SPG members, but the room we received was very small. It was a little unsettling to realize that was the "upgraded" room but we didn't mind as much since we weren't going to spend a lot of time in the room. The maid staff was extremely friendly and […] free coffee every morning in the lobby was a plus. Overall we were pleased with our stay but do wish the room we received was a bit bigger. "Excellent Customer Service"
The staff up front was excellent and friendly. A+Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I have stayed at the W in other cities. This room was cramped and small. The room looked dated and I was very disappointed. Staff was very nice and polite. I just didn't have the comforts I was accustomed to from the W.Genuine Expedia guest review
The lobby was super nice, and the hotel is in a great location, however our room was crowded and not very comfortable. I think I just expected better since it's the W!!!Genuine Expedia guest review
Came here with my girlfriend for July 4th weekend and was very pleased with the room/hotel. Great for a couples retreat and conveniently located. Staff was very nice and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
We were absolutely impressed with our stay. The ambiance is very young and doesn't fall under the traditional hotel mood. Our room was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. We were greeted in the lobby with drinks and we spent a lot of time just within the hotel because it felt almost as if you are staying in a quiet night club. I will definitely […] be staying at W hotels from now on. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This is a nice hotel. Comfortable feeling from the second you walk in the door. Hard not to stop at the bar before making your way to the back or the hotel for check in. Missed the chance to check out the upstairs offerings. Wouldn't mind staying again if I make it to Chicago again.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Outstanding Service, Friendly, Helpful, Welcoming"
The people working at the hotel are friendly, from the cleaning lady to the concierge. It's not worth it to me to pay and be around grumpy pushy people. We enjoyed it so much we're thinking of doing it again. So helpful with getting around and instructions. Our flight was also there earlier then checking and they were kind enough to hold the luggage. […] Some city hotels don't want to bother. We went to Wrigley Field, it was just one hop on the train, so close and affordable. The rooms were small, but definitely clean. You can't hide filth with white sheets. Thank you W staff! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel is very nice and trendy . Food was very good"
Room was extremely disappointing for the price . It was very small for what they call a " fabulous" king room.Genuine Expedia guest review

"You want the city's other W"
Huge wine stain in the upper left had corner of room 514. I stayed one night to attend a local wedding and received five different emails contains various room charges that weren't mine. My favourite charge was for multiple nights valet parking when I was on there one night. What a disaster hotel! Disgusting.Genuine Expedia guest review
Even though I booked my room on the wrong day the hotel staff generously accommodated me (@ 5:30 am!). I was worn out and grateful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel room was clean, but very small. The bathroom was also very small. The entry and lobby to the hotel is in need of touch ups or refurbishing. Also, the parking is very expensive - $62 with tax for one night.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel in the Loop."
The hotel staff was very friendly and did everything within their power to make me feel at home. The room service can take a while, but if you're in the Loop, you should probably go out anyways.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great for Friday Night Leisure"
I stayed over Friday night, which was great because the weekend crowd had not arrived yet, but the business crowd had left. So, the neighborhood was very calm, as was the hotel. IPO, the new restaurant, was surprisingly excellent for a hotel bistro. I arrived rather early for check in around 11am, and since they had a room available, they let myself […] and many other parties check in. That was a very nice gesture on the part of the staff, because it took away an unnecessary pretentious edge the W brand has seemed to build up. The facility was great, as was the room. Very customized amenities and storage inside the room. Lighting was excellent. The history of the hotel is evident, and has been accentuated well with the modern interior approach the W brings. It was a genuine Chicago hotel with the W footprint, as opposed to the W footprint overpowering the Chicago hotel. An overall special excellent experience. I am not sure why the ratings are as low as they are, but I could imagine that being attributed to times when the hotel was extremely busy, as I could see the boutique interior lobby setup not being as efficient as some of the other mega lobbies in the city. But then again, why would you want to stay at a place where you are treated like an animal? Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
While interesting, architecturally, the W is nothing special. Extremely loud, pulsating music greets you in the lobby. We experienced short-staffed service; the bellman complained that he was 2 hours past his shift. Only 2 people were staffing an very busy desk. The room was comfortable and highly designed, but the bathroom sink was bar sized...tiny...water […] went everywhere. Staff was very friendly. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good not great."
Check in is at 3pm, we showed up at 7pm and they did not have a room for us. The receptionist spoke to get manager and returned with drink coupons and advised us to wait in the bar. Well at $400 a night a drink coupon for each of us was not gonna be ok. We spoke to the manager who upped the ante with complimentary dinner at their hotel restaurant. While […] at dinner I ordered a Cape Cod and what I got was a glass of cranberry juice on the rocks it literally had no vodka in it. So I ordered a shot of vodka at which point the manager came to the table and said they were covering our food but they weren't paying for us to drink. Like I ordered the shot intent on getting plastered or something. Other than the check in fiasco the hotel was pretty nice, perhaps overpriced a bit. I wish I had stayed at the W on the lake. "Nice hotel. Overpriced..."
I thought this hotel was very nice and elegant. But I paid way too much and got nothing out of it except when they cleaned the room. There was no tour. I did not know of a mini fridge until day 2. And remote control was broken. Toilet clogged. But it was a nice hotel. They need to work on the rooms more. And whats up with the wifi? Its 2014....it should […] be free! Ugh. "Close and sleek but hope you like trains"
I was reallyenjoying my stay, Greta checkin, good location, lively bar and big room. Then I heard the rumble of the el train. Ouch. It didn't keep me up all light but if you're a light sleeper, bear this in mind. A block from my office so I will be hard pressed not to return...Genuine Hotels.com guest review
""Cozy" hotel in convenient city location"
The Hotel: Nice, modern boutique-style lobby. Check-in area is small but the workers are helpful and knowledgeable. The bar is a tad pricy (hey, it's Chicago), but the bartenders are friendly and quick. The Room: Stayed on the 6th floor. The Wonderful room is nice, but the bathroom is TINY! Not too mention I don't really enjoy hearing my companion […] peeing and pooping since the fan is silent (we just put the TV on loud when we needed to use the facilities). The room is clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable. We were unable to adjust the volume on the iPod player which was a bit annoying, but didn't matter too much overall. Bathroom tiles are heated! *Our friends booked a Wonderful room as well (10th floor), but their room layout was a lot different, and much more spacious. They didn't receive an upgrade, so I was confused at how differently the "same" room can be in the same hotel... Overall, I would stay here again if I got a good price, but would check elsewhere first for a larger room (with a larger bathroom). Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great times at an up beat hotel"
We enjoyed are stay quite well. I hear a lot of complaints that the rooms are small, but they're not that small. The bed was incredible, so comfortable. The room was very clean and euro style. I would rather have a small room with comfortable bedding than a large room with a comforter that has the texture of cardboard. Within walking distance to a lot […] of things. We actually walked to the Navy Pier from the hotel. Was only a couple of miles and enjoyed the views on the way. I would definately stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good hotel stay"
The only other W I've stayed at is the one in Midtown Manhattan. One thing that annoys me about the hotel are the add-on costs. For example, needing to pay for internet. Seems ridiculous when both many other budget and luxurious hotels I've stayed at provide free internet. Less of an annoyance since I don't care about renting movies while there but […] also seems kind of ridiculous that renting movies for 24 hours on their TVs can be like $9-$17 or more. That aside, on the hotel specifically, room was good though could get noisy with above ground subway going by and when I think trash would be picked up in the night or something. Staff was friendly and helpful. Bathroom door was a sliding door that didn't fully close which was a little weird. First time in Chicago and did a little walking around the area but mainly went to restaurants and stuff in the magnificent mile area above the river. Don't know if any great restaurants and stuff are around the hotel, but may not have known or missed them. Would prefer to stay closer to the water/mag mile next time. Too bad the hotel isn't closer in that area. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Charging for wifi in 2014 is over rated. Just used JW marriot wifi from my room. If you call tech support for jw they just give you a free code. Seems like the W Chicago city center nickel and dimes you, so be careful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent service, gorgeous hotel"
We had an excellent stay at the W. It was nice to be greeted by incredibly friendly people who seemed genuinely interested in making our stay as pleasant as possible. Not only was the staff knowledgeable and friendly, the rooms were comfortable and tastefully done. The products in the bathroom are very nice and we appreciated the extra touch. We'll […] definitely return to the W and look forward to it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Could have been better."
Nice hotel if you are looking for a night club type of environment. But if you are looking for a nice quite night or weekend away I would not recommend this hotel. Definitely would not take children here. Staff was good and helpful. Facilities for the price not at all what I expected. Rooms were small and the hotel is located next two the a cta train […] station so you here that constantly. Parking is overpriced at $49.95 per night for valet service. Overall, it was just okay. "Excellent overnight stay"
We were able to check in early, which was great for a nap before dinner. Within walking distance of shopping/restaurants/bars/Union Station. Excellent staff, clean rooms, comfy bed. Only negative was no coffee maker in the room, but that's just an inconvenience. I would recommend!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"The good side of what you expect in the South Loop"
The south Loop is what it is: full of convenient mid-sized chain restaurants and business clothiers, otherwise kinda dull. Near the park, though, which was nice. Outside the room, the hotel is great. Like any W, it tries a bit too hard to be cool but is well staffed, spotless, and outfitted with any amenity one may imagine (for a small price, obviously). […] The room was mostly great; the desk and bathroom were both quite nice. It did have a couple issues that were small but so nonsensical they stick out: the underbed light couldn't be turned off (near as I could tell), the blind was broken and so hung at a weird angle when open, and the TV contrast was too low even to see the menu that would let me figure out how to turn it up. So no TV for me. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not a 4 star but ok"
The regular room is half the size of the 4 seasons rooms when i upgraded in rooms it didnt even have a jacuzzi in it like the 4 seasons has. Then the train felt like it was right next to our room, running every 10-15 minutes and our scenery was bad because we were facing another building. The room was dirty still, I'm glad the bed was made, the lobby was amazing, the rest, ha the pics they post ate what got me there, what I received, not so much, I would stay at the motel, before this hotel again, and there parking service, that was the worst part of the stay.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Nice hotel, yet unnecessary 200$ hold on credit c."
it is a very cozy hotel with beautiful rooms but they are kind of greedy! they charge 5$ on a small bottle of water in the room where other hotels water is free! they also hold 200$ in your credit card which is exaggerated and it ruins ur budget!Genuine Expedia guest review
Liked the location of this hotel. However would stay closer to the bars and night life if I went back (it was about a 15 minute walk to the nightlife). The hotel was nice. Room was a little small (king sized bed). Parking not included and be careful where you chose to park! Use the app spot hero to avoid costly parking fees. Staff was nice. Very clean […] hotel. "Modern comfortable hotel...bad restaurant"
I was in town for a night visiting friends and we wanted a late night bite at the hotel but the appetizer was horrible so we decided to cancel. The hotel is nice and modern with a comfy bed. "Better value than surrounding hotels."
I have stayed at the W numerous times and keep going back. That is not because they are an excellent hotel but simply that in that area of the Loop it is a better value than the surrounding (walking distance from my meeting location) hotels. Often the rooms are noisy because of the location near the loop, or if you ask for a room on the other side of […] the building you get traffic and construction noise. I usually arrive around 10 PM and just want to get a good sleep before my morning meetings so I don't worry too much about the other stuff. This time I had a very quiet room but it was tiny. The counter in the bathroom was literally about 2' X 2' with the sink in the middle. The bathtub was only about 5' X 2.5' and it was difficult to walk in the room without stubbing your toe on something. Also, FYI the cell phone coverage in the guest computer area is very poor so you can't talk while using the computers. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"5 Star worker rates this a 4.5*"
I work at a 5 star hotel and this place blew me away. My expectations were that this would just simply be a room I slept in while I had a blast during my weekend getaway. To my surprise the room and hotel atmosphere was more than I anticipated. The front desk host was so gracious, the concierge took our bags so we could walk around the town, we checked […] in early, was sent up a slice of birthday cake and small bottle of wine, our extra bed was promo-ed for the birthday girl, and the front desk delivered a small box fan to my room within minutes of my request. The hotel is breath taking and edgy. The perfect spot for a celebration. I am just in love. Stayed here both time I visited and was "wowed" both times. I tip my hat to you. Keep it up and you'll be Five-Star in no time!
