I thought the hotel was comfortable, clean and in a good location for anyone wanting to visit museums or party and enjoy the major casino in town (it's right around the corner). All was fine, but the shower tended to overflow into the rest of the bathroom. That--and the slightly ridiculous breakfast price--are my only two caveats about this otherwise comfortable, well-appointed hotel with excellent service, right in one of the most convenient neighborhoods (walkable distance to all major points of interest ).

The room is small and also stinky, bed felt like it was falling apart, and the bathroom (though very cute) it was built weird. When you shower the water overflows all over the floor. The Staff was not very friendly but no one in Amsterdam really is.

Hotel personnel were extremely helpful and friendly. There are lots of maps and brochures for those who want to explore the city. They also provided discounts for local vendors. They also gave me directions to the bus (2 blks) and saved me 28 Euro on the airport trip.

I booked a room for two, as I was going with one of my best friends, we asked for two beds, what we ended up getting is a very very very small mattresses joined together, which still ended up taking most of the 8X12ft room (if you can call it that)...Unless you plan to spoon whoever you share the room with, I would say this is a "couples" room.

We were placed in the basement of the hotel. Rooms were clean and decent size. Bathooms were also very nice and clean. Since we were in the basement there was very limited view outside because the windows are located very high and close to the ceiling. The Hotel is located very close to shopping and dinning area. If I found myself in Amsterdam for 1-2 nights again, I would definitely stay here again! This was a mid-range priced hotel and definitely didn't have any extra flair in the rooms - I stayed in a double room and it was simple and did it's job - i.e. it was a place to crash at the end of a long day/night exploring the city. The location is really amazing […] - I had a view of the side of the Rijksmuseum from my window, that's how close you are to all the museums. It is also located on the street with all the fancy shopping, if you're looking to take advantage of that tourist tax refund and buy yourself a Louis. It is also right near the Hard Rock and Holland Casino, so if you're looking for that type of "american fun" scene, you're right there. It was a super short walk to Leidesplein (fun square with tons of bars) and not even a 15 minute walk to the Anne Frank House, Floating Flower Market, Dam Square...etc etc. Seriously - amazing location. There is also a canal tour that stops basically right outside the hotel. Now just to clarify, I would not stay here if I was going to be staying for a whole week...I would like a hotel/room with a little more comfort/decor to relax in. But for a few nights, when I was barely in the room - PERFECT. I was there from December 1, 2011 through December 12, 2011. Only now is the Expedia review site working. When I checked in, my initial impression was that this room was a broom closet with a single bed. It was right next to the receptionist desk. However, it was very clean and convenient, and I slept well. Several days in I asked for another room because […] it was difficult to move around and was given one. It was the same size with a double bed instead of a single bed. I came back to the receptionist and told them to just give me back my original room. It had already been cleaned; that fast. So, they offered me an upgrade and everything worked out fine. The people working at the reception desk are wonderful and always willing to help. Dutch people are that way in general. There wasn't a question they were not willing to get an answer for, and I made quite a few friends. They lock the doors at night, and I smoke, so being that I suffered jet lag the first week, I had to be buzzed in a couple of times each night for the first week. I had stayed in Amsterdam in July at another hotel, and we were able to use a swipe card to get in, but not here. I never got an answer why. The Staff here are very diligent and respectful, so be nice with them, it goes a long way. People like these have made Amstedam my home away from home. I always go back. Read more
