They were very helpful and the free breakfast quite good and the rooms were clean but the carpet was showing a bit of wear

"over-night stay before cruise"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
We really liked San Pedro Inn & Suites. It was perfect for our over-night stay before our cruise. The price that we paid for the room was a good value. The staff was friendly. We were suprised that such a good breakfast was included in the price of our room.

From its hills to its sidewalks, the stars are everywhere in Hollywood. Although most film and TV production today takes place in Burbank, Hollywood retains its mystique. The elite are commemorated with stars on the Walk of Fame and cement handprints at Grauman’s Chinese Theater. The Hollywood & Highland Center shopping and entertainment venue includes the Kodak Theatre, home of the Oscars.

"Best Hotel in the area."
I love this hotel I use to stay once a week, just one night for business. Staff is friendly, excellent hot breakfast... they have many details that make you feel pampered, this is my favorite !

Booked the hotel for a one night stay. Was surprised how big the room actually was. Comes with microwave & fridge which we did not use. The room was clean, front desk was friendly, offers free breakfast, but did not take advantage of that. Great deal for the price.
"Great staff, noisy (but convenient) location"
The staff here were surprisingly friendly (almost to the point of bugging us with attempts to chat and ask if we needed anything - lol). The hotel seemed to be in the midst of renovation, so there were construction people running in and out of rooms with paint buckets from time to time, but they kept the noise down in the mornings and apologized profusely […] if they came within 10 feet of you. There is a fire station like 500 yards away, so we had to listen to sirens on and off all night, but it was a Saturday in Hollywood, so we weren't overly bothered by it. We easily walked to the Walk of Fame and many other area attractions. The continental breakfast was mediocre in quality, but included scrambled eggs (might have been Egg Beaters), pancakes, fruit, and pastries. Don't miss lunch at Panini Di Ambra less than a block west of the hotel. Read more

"Hidden treasure!"
Value for money is the fact! Was very surprised by the friendly management. Locations is very good, free parking lots, could leave langguage for a couple of days, very nice experience, even when the rooms are not the newest.
"Hollywood Downtowner"
This hotel is a bit grungy and while the bed was firm and comfy, plenty of hot water, and private room, the bath had no counter to place toiletries on. Seems the managers are in the process of fixing the hotel, and there is also noisy construction next door (Jan 2012). Nice management but hotel needs to be upgraded a bit more.
Very good service. Good hot breakfast, I didn't expect that
"No more Hollywood Downtowner for us"
We picked this hotel because of the location. But the room was so dirty, bathroom was smelly, no bath tub, dirty carpet. Good breakfast and comfy bed though.
"Hollywood Downtowner"
The Motel is conveniently located and rather cheap. Comfort and condition are average, but they are renovating.
"Hollywood Downtowner-for very short stays only"
Use this hotel only if you just want to stay for a day or two. Breakfast was good. People are nice but hard to get front desk help sometimes.
"BED BUGS!!"
STAY AWAY!!! BED BUGS AT THIS HOTEL AND LOBBY STUNK REALLY BAD!!! AND LADY WAS VERY SNOTTY!! RM VERY SMALL! BATHROOM WERE OK...
"Convience"
This Hotel is conviently located about 1.5 miles from Hollywood Blvd and Highland which is very nice. The place is cute on the outside. Offers a nice little breakfast. This is my 2nd time staying here the first was a better experiance. Some of the rooms have a little Kitchenette (room 22) its an older building so you have to remember that. Had a few […] mishaps this time around. ONLY real problem I found is the beds are pretty solid .. ROCK solid. Wish they had pillow top mattresses. The tv's are old tube tv's about 24inch screen. The decore is outdated but then again its not a boutique or upscale hotel. The service is usually good. There's a young gentleman who's always been nice both times we've been there. There seems to be another Front desk Clerk (female) who has a little bit of an attitude but otherwise useful LOL. This time around we had someone actually walk into our room because they were given our room number and key at Check in. Luckily we were in the room, Which was inconvient and of course I left us with a weird feeling thereafter. The front desk staff (the female) apologized and quickly hung up after I had informed her of it. We also had a few problems getting into our room late at night . The keys would not work but they do have someone in 24/7 .. of course. I do LIKE this little place. The breakfast is good and the location is convienent .. over all their rooms or mostly BEDS could be nicer or more comfortable. But you do get what you play for :) Read more

"Hollywood Downtowner-Not a great choice"
The Hollywood Downtowner is an old hotel in the "Thai Town" part of Hollywood. Not a great neighborhood, but on the verge of revitalization. Our room was relatively clean, but didn't feel clean. Door to balcony had no handle and glass was broken. Smoke detector had no battery. Limited parking, but at least it was free. Breakfast in a former restaurant […] space two doors down, included eggs, melon, and potatoes along with the standard cereal, toast, waffles. Several Thai restaurants within walking distance, most of the "hole in the wall" variety. No bathroom fan, just a window that wouldn't close. Road noise, but not enough to keep us awake. New senior housing building under construction next door. No noise issues when we were there, but as construction continues this may become more of a problem. We chose this hotel because it was inexpensive compared to others in the area and had amenities we expect (free parking, free Internet, free breakfast) when most others do not. It did meet all of those expectations and location was convenient for our needs. Overall though, the hotel didn't "feel" clean and the neighborhood didn't "feel" safe. If we're in that area again, we'll just bite the bullet and pay for something a little better. Read more

"Downtowner"
If you just want a basic room and expect nothing more, this place might work. They offer everything that they say the do. I know the area is expensive but I still felt the price was high for what it was. Shop around but this place will work if you just need a place to sleep.
"Hollywood Downtowner"
This place is a dump. It smelled bad , noisy from traffic and something bit us . I would never recommend this place to any one . They should of payed me to stay there , instead of me paying them
"Great Bargain, Great Location"
This hotel is a little dated, but is well kept. No Taj Mahal, but it was clean, comfortable beds, fridge and microwave, nice tiling in bathroom. They had a very nice pool area. Some people commented about the area, but we found it as nice as any other area around Hollywood. Good resturants in the area, easy access to mass transit.
"Decent place, pool is nice."
Cute little motel. Clean. Bed was comfortable enough, shower left a bit to be desired in pressure. The pool was really nice. For the price i don't think you can find better accommodations. The breakfast was a little strange but was tasty.
"Hollywood Downtowner - convenient, well-kept"
This was my third stay here. Convenient location, easy access to transportation, free parking, breakfast included, great rates. A little shabby, but clean with amenities found in more expensive hotels. Management and staff are friendly, responsive.
"Good for a night"
This hotel was perfect for our needs. We were in town for a night to attend an AFI premere. The hotel was very close. It was clean and quiet. Our room, #22, was spacious with a terrace sitting area & pool view.
"Motel in Hollywood"
Hotel ok, breakfast is awful (the room where you take breakfast look very bad)
"More than I expected!"
I'm very glad I decided to get a room here! I was very worried about what kind of hotel this would end up being based on the location and the horrible reviews of surroundings hotels. I'm definitely booking here again if I need to. The room was simple but nice! The bathroom (especially shower) was super nice!!! The woman who checked us in was awesom […] e! Read more
"GREAT VALUE with fair staff"
Me and friends stayed here over a weekend. It was close to venue where the show was at but far from UCLA area where we went on Sunday. The breakfast is ok considering its included.
"Amazing Deal for the Money"
I was thrilled with our stay. The room was clean and had plenty of space. The staff was friendly and even let me use their work computer when the other was tied up. The breakfast is amazing (fruit, eggs, bacon, waffels, etc.). We didn't use the pool but we did walk to the chinese theater and we loved the covered parking. The only negative is that the […] neighborhood isn't the safest at night, but I felt safe enough at the hotel, just not walking around. Read more
"Hollywood Downtowner in LA"
Very nice people. Hotel was great for our purposes. Would stay again.
"Wow!!"
Don't let the surrounding neighberhood of the hotel fool you, this hotel is spacious, clean and well maintained. Upon arrival is was scared from the looks of the location, but once I checked in the son of the owners was more than helpful and very polite and nice. Our room was next to the pool which we used and was clean and perfect. The rooms were very […] spacious. It is noticeable that the hotel has a few wears and tears but nothing to be alarmed about. Great hotel overall. I would stay here again!! Read more
"The Hollywood Blvd"
The room was decent . Our tv sounded like it was going to explode and the pool was off limits. The breakfast was really nice and was more then I expected. Overall nice place to stay because of how close it is to everything .
"Nice place for the price"
Old, but nice. Our bathroom had just been refurbished, so it was nice. Air-conditioning worked good. Nice employees. But too far to walk to where all action is- Kodak theatre, etc. Especially during the summer. We drove down and paid to park, that was the only thing- I thought it was a lot closer.

"Hollywood Downtowner-friendly, helpful staff"
The Hollywood Downtowner is not plush but it is a very unique, pleasant place to stay. The entire staff was so very friendly, helpful and accomodating with everything we needed during our stay. The free breakfast was also a nice little bonus. They do need more chairs around the pool area and the decor & bathroom fixures could use some updating but I […] was able to overlook those things, especially for the reasonable price and convenient location. "pleasant surprise"
I have low expectations when renting a room at an inexpensive motel, but the Hollywood Downtowner well surpased all of them. It's an old building, but it was very clean, the complimentary breakfast was good, and the staff was extremely accomodating and friendly. plus their location was near everything we wanted to see. I recommend this place. I know […] I'll be going back. Read more
"love it"
awesome location and large beakfast. will stay here everytime in hwood.
"Great Stay"
The Hollywood Downtowner is a great place to stay in Hollywood. It is affordable and only a short distance from most of your Hollywood tourist attractions. The staff is lovely and the continental breakfast is out of this world. Try the potatoes!
"Hollywood Downtowner: An oasis on Hollywood Blvd"
I really have only a couple negative things to say about this place...Showers are not that great and the walls are thin. It's in a sketchy section of Hollywood Blvd, but the hotel itself is an oasis. Gorgeous outdoor pool and lovely landscaping. Very close to a few restaurants, a grocery store and a Starbucks. So myself being a female traveling alone, […] I had no problem with the location. Close to all the tourist things to do in Hollywood. Price is more than fair when you get a fridge, microwave, and complimentary brreakfast included. And free wifi. Would stay again adn I would recommend it to others on a budget. The positive far outweighed the negative. Read more
"Service speak volumes"
Although the overall condition of the Downtowner was in need of improvement, I was so blown away by the friendliness and hospitality of the owners I will stay again and recommend this place to others.
"Dirtiest hotel I have ever seen around the world"
Unfortunately this is one of the dirtiest and most disgusting places I have ever stayed at . I think someone needs to report this hotel to the health department because the rooms and bathrooms floors and walls all looked extremely dirty. I think Hotels.com should not be referring business to such an outfit.

"a little old, but comfortable overall"
About 1 1/2 mile walk to the Walk of Fame, but it's definitely a sketchy walk at night. I'd recommend doing it during the day. They have this breakfast coupon to this all you can eat breakfast place that is really good. The front guy was very helpful with how to get to local attractions. Parking is tight, but we never had a problem finding a spot. And […] satellite TV. Can't argue with that. Down sides: It's on Hollywood Blvd and a low priced place, so it was pretty loud, especially once people started coming in from partying. Normally that would be us, but we had flight to catch the next morning. Pretty standard though. Overall, good place for the price! Read more
"Basic no frills outdated room"
My stay was very short, so I wanted to save money on my trip to LA from San Diego. First off, this is a Motel not a Hotel. The size of the room was good. The bathroom was the worst part. The sink was seperating from the wall and looked as if it would fall off. The pieced together shower was very sad to say the least. The shower pressure was virtually […] non existant. The bathroom light is just a very basic porcelin socket like you may have in your garage or closet. :-0 On a positive note, I think they did make an effort to have the room clean. The sheets and towels were clean and no insects seen living or dead :) Read more

"Overnight was just right!"
I needed an overnight crash pad for an event I was attending in Hollywood, CA in the summer of 2009. The Hollywood Downtowner was in a great location and the room was big enough for 3 people to get ready with plenty of space at our leisure. The room was clean, air conditioner worked.(it was Summer) TV was confusing. I didn't figure out how to use it, […] so I didn't watch it. The place was supposed to be sold out for the weekend I stayed, and yet, it never seemed crowded or noisy. THere is also free covered parking. The spaces are small. Must've been built in the 40's or 50's. I will return to this location for the same party next year. The hotel managers were very relaxed and accomodating. They didn't however tell us that the breakfast tickets had a cut off time of 11AM. Breakfast is 2 doors down at a local diner which closes at 111am to get ready for lunch at 1PM. Be warned. For an overnight stay that doesn't break the bank, this was the place to be. With 3 of us in the room, it came to about $36 a person. Prety damn good, when you consider that the party I went to had its own wensite and listed their host hotel which had room for $200 a night. No thanks. The Hollywood Downtowner suits me just fine.
