Part of me liked it and felt a little sad for this friendly, aging resort that was probably once THE place to be. Good staff, very helpful. I was late for a wedding and they got me checked in in less than a minute. The rooms are nothing special but clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet was pretty good with a lot of choices, made to order omelets, and Starbucks coffee. now for the cons... The resort washes its own towels and sheets, so the laundry room puts out a lot of steam. I guess that's what set off the really loud and annoying fire alarm which seemed to go on forever late at night. No insulation against noise, I heard every conversation both outside my window and in the corridor so try to get a room away from the entrance. I did feel fairly safe while I was there. The room smelled like wet dog. I did notice that the rooms lakeside looked a bit nicer. Cant complain too much as I got the unpublished rate from a travel website which was about half the rack rate. There are no 4 or 5 star hotels in Morgantown, and only two 3.5 star rated so if you have a chance to get the unpublished rate, take it.. Nemacolin Spa across the border in PA and Greenbrier Resort WV are 5 star aging-but-still-grande dames, while Lake view is more like a kindly grandma, who may not be hip and cutting edge, but always has a smile and makes you feel like home. Lakeview is an OLD property and while the setting is beautiful and the golf course is great, the rooms and the hotel in general has not kept up. It desperately needs some updating. They remind me of the old Catskill hotels!! BTW--Lake VIEW is a misnomer! Could not see the lake from anywhere I was in the hotel!!

Nice accommodations. Can't speak to the restaurant - didn't eat dinner there. I felt the breakfast buffet was lacking and overpriced at $12. One word of warning: Following the GPS directions took us out of the way to a trailer park. The hotel was fine, but struck me more like a Motel 6 than a fancy resort. I specifically picked the hotel, despite its somewhat remote location because it was a resort and sounded like it would be a bit more glamorous than the cheap motels we usually stay in. we got up at 4 in the morning we had to be at the hospital at 5 there was no hot water to shower, the hotel gave us the room key nexted door and it had no hot water either so we had to go to the hospital without showering, we had no time to complain further we had to throw on our clothes and go!

the nonsmoking room smelled like smoke. the front desk did not answer at night. the bed was broken. Most important- the GPS takes you through I-79 but when you get there, you find yourself in the wrong location. You should take I68 instead, exit 10. The staff know about this and it seems this happens to many visitors.

Lakeview was old and rundown. In addition to this the room type we reserved was not available upon check in and we were given a one bed room as the only option for three people. We were very disapointed with the hotel overall and would not return.

The grounds and amenities are excellent. Views from restaurants fabulous. The overall facility has seen better days, rooms small, rugs need updating/cleaning. The only restaurant open there on a Tuesday evening was the Lakewood's "sports bar". The food was poor - typical deep fried offerings or expensive steak, limited selection. The rainy cold weather did not help matters and parking spots were hard to find. They did not have our reservation and their system is seperate from hotels.com but they had an upgrade available at the same price so it eventually worked out. Be sure to have the printout of your confirmation from Hotels.com for these kinds of issues as I did. The hotel […] is quite spead out and our room was a long haul thru many hallways and turns from reception. The room was okay but not great. The spa is in a seperate building so with the bad weather we did not use it. This place would be much better in the warmer seasons. The newly constructed highway interchange is not on most GPS maps they said and almost everyone gets lost trying to find the place - we did. It is a 10-15 min detour off the main route depending on how long you are lost. We will pick more convenient locations for our enroute accomodations in the future. Read more

thankfully we only booked to stop one night to break up a long drive and this seemed ideal the location is quite pleasant. check in was ok ,when we got to our rooms there was a damp musty smell and it also smelt like the rooms had previously been smoking rooms because the curtains/drapes smelt of smoke . the rooms have not had a good clean for months. there […] was a pair of mens underwear left by someone who previously occupied the room, the chairs were full of dust and crumbs the dust on the sockets,skirting boards and electrical wires indicate that it hasnt been properly cleaned for sometime . i called housekeeping and the removed the offending underwear and gave it a cursory clean but overall not a pleasant experience.
