"Probably the place to stay in Frackville"
01/19/14 sometrip Chicago, Illinois
Nice property and adequate breakfast. Staff mostly friendly. Not a bad stay but bothered by several things. First, they are smoke free and pet free--I like that. However, it was emphasized at check-in and that if you violated their policy your credit card will be charged $250. It felt like I could expect a charge even though I do not smoke or have a pet. Still watching my credit card and so far no charges. Got on the elevator and read a statement on the key card that my credit card would be charged if I took their towels or linen. It is not a good first impression that their guests need these warnings. Then, the heat was off in the room and it had been below zero. So, I turned the heat on and went to get some food. I bought groceries since I could not find a place I wanted to eat. I put frozen food in the small freezer only to find them thawed the next morning because the refrigerator was unplugged. Since the frig did not have a power switch I believe this was being energy wise, which I like. Could you power up the heat and plug in the frig for a new guest? Then, black hair in the tub. Ignoring the tub hair, I feel their good intentions (smoke free, pet free, energy conservation) were misrepresented by the wrong emphasis. I got the impression that either they were going to scam me for smoking, pets, or stealing towels or that is what their guests usually do. This approached lessened the experience for me.
"Couldn't have asked for more!"

We had to stay in the Pottsville area for a family funeral and found the HIE on line. We were traveling with a one year old. We arrived to find everything in order and for us including the crib in the room. The hotel is exceptionally clean and everything is in great condition. The Cracker Barrel was just 75 yards across the parking lot, an easy walk even in winter. The morning breakfast was also an easy, clean, and delicious start to the day. We will stay there any time we spend the night in "coal country ."
"Nice hotel but our visit pricey"

We arrived in Frackville without a reservation since we drove further than we had planned. We were quoted a rate of $114 (using AARP). I asked if this included everything and was assured it did. I wasn't happy in the am to get the credit card receipt for $124 (the $114 + taxes). The Country Inn and Suites one exit south had rooms for $84. Had we known we were actually paying $124 we would have gone there. At any rate (pun intended) this hotel is fine. Our room was quiet, spacious, and clean. AM staff were pleasant and the breakfast looked entirely satisfactory. My advice: check rates carefully!
"Very Nice Hotel"

We were originally hoping to drive to Hershey, PA, but decided to stop early. I searched on Google Maps for a hotel and this popped up with three great reviews. I'm glad that I found this, it is a really nice hotel, very clean and comfortable. We received a AAA discount on our room, which was a bonus. The bed and pillow were exceptionally comfortable. The breakfast is what we have come to expect, but they have pancakes instead of waffles.
"Another Great Stay"

This was our second stay at the Holiday Inn Frackville and my brother's first. He was thrilled with the accommodations and breakfast. Friendly staff and clean hotel. When I returned home, I realized I had left my camera in the room. They found it and quickly mailed it back to me. We will definitely be returning next year!

I stayed in this hotel for one night due to a business trip in the area. The front desk staff was absolutely wonderful and offered me two bottles of water when I checked in, a result of being a rewards member with IHG. The room was very clean and smelled nice. I always check the towels - I feel like you can definitely learn something about a hotel by judging their towels - and these were plush, clean, and smelled nice. The fitness center was sparse - two treadmills, and elliptical and a bike - but there was a lot of space to do a floor workout and also a sign that said they were renovating. There is a Cracker Barrel across the parking lot, so it's a short walk away for a quick dinner. Breakfast in the morning was great, everything was very fresh and constantly restocked and refilled. The only thing that I found unusual was that the heavy drapes in the room didn't close all of the way, but the thin see-through white ones did. Overall, great stay. I would definitely stay here again!
"Extended 8 day stay"

Grew up in Frackville but had not been back in over 20 years. While the area is somewhat run down from my youth this hotel is not. The room was very comfortable. The microwave and refrigerator came in handy so the left overs from the local restaurants would not be wasted. Having a Cracker Barrel in the parking lot was an added plus not to mention the Schuylkill Mall. The staff was very friendly and the room was well stocked and maintained. The breakfast was adequate to get us started in the morning and still have room to sample the local cooking that I have not had in such a long time. Will definately stay here again when I return sometime in the next 20 years.
"The ONLY nice hotel in Frackville!"

We hadn't been back to the area for over 15 yrs. & things have definitely changed since the 90's! This is the only new hotel & the other 2 existing hotels have gone WAY downhill (they look creepy & I'd be afraid to stay there). It sits high up on a hill, next to a new Cracker Barrel, & the old Schuylkill Mall. We stayed 3 nights here & the beds were awesome, the breakfast was good, & at dinner time they even have different foods put out for guests each night (one night it was cream of broccoli soup, the next night it was meatball subs, missed the 3rd night due to dinner out with family). The staff was very helpful & nice, plus everything was clean, clean, clean! The parking lot is very large & in case you're pulling a trailer, for easy parking you can circle around the Cracker Barrel parking lot which leads into the hotel parking lot. We stayed in a King suite, which had a mini bar sink, granite counter top, fridge, microwave, coffee pot, & cabinets above & below for food storage, plus a small couch & coffee table. Our bathroom was handicap accessible with a walk in shower (no tub) & water pressure/hot water was good. My husband was happy with the HBO & flatscreen TV, plus good Wifi. I especially liked the white comforters because you could tell they washed those after each guest. Can't think of anything negative to say, except for they need to clean the shower heads because there's mineral buildup. I'd definitely stay here again!
"Holiday Inn Express, Frackville, PA - a good choice for the area"

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express, Frackville for 2 nights. We were sure the hotel would be OK (not wonderful) and we hoped for the best. We stayed in another Holiday Inn Express awhile back and we were not impressed. Well, we were pleasantly surprised by this Holiday Inn Express in Frackville (adjacent to the Schuykill Mall). It was clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful. The room we stayed in was a King suite and it was spacious with a small refrigerator and microwave. The bed was very comfortable and the pillows were great also. The TV in the room and also downstairs were HD connected to HD. Very nice. In the lobby there was a map of Schuykill County and also a scrapbook describing the towns, the sites, the restaurants etc. Very nice. The breakfast was good (however, we don't like the paper plates and paper or plastic cups). Other than that everything was good. If we get back to the area we will definitely stay there again.
"Hotel Good Enough, but Pricey with Shady Room Types"
08/05/13 Mandarin2882 NJ
Hotel was clean and comfortable. It was 40 minutes away from Knoebel's Amusement Park, a little too far to drive back and forth from the park. We called ahead to let them know we would be arriving late, but when we got there the rooms we requested were not available. I booked through Hotels.com so I don't know where the error was made, but the front desk employee did not handle it well. I had booked two rooms, one double queen and one king with a sofa bed. (I originally wanted two double queens but hotels.com said they weren't available and all I could get was one and one.) Upon arriving, the front desk went over my paperwork, saying I had two king rooms. When I explained what I had actually booked he responded, "You booked two king rooms. You booked through Hotels.com so I can't do anything about it... and we are completely booked anyway, so there's nothing I can do." This may all be true, but a little, "I apologize there was a mix up... " or anything would have been nice. I had four adults and two children who were very tired, so I just took what I could get. We were there with my cousin's family, who had the exact same experience. They had been talked down from one double queen and one king only to have two kings available upon arrival. Looks like a pattern of "bait and switch" to me. Also, don't be fooled if they offer you a "King Suite"... I'm not familiar with Holiday Inn Express standard room types, but there was no more room in a King Suite than there was in a King. Our two rooms were exactly the same. The morning front desk attendant was very nice and helpful. Also, $152 for a hotel in the middle of nowhere seems high to me... not to mention, that this property is only entered through a series of retail parking lots and not easy to find late night. Good enough for what we needed.. but altogether we had 13 people and were squished upon arrival late night!
