I won't go back. Hotel smells really bad and has really dreary, depressing feel to it. The complementary breakfast was horrible. Not even fresh brewed coffee and had plastic plates and utensils and bad environment. The monitor in the "business center" was 10 years old and unusable. The WIFI in my room stopped working and I was told that many other guests […] have the identical problem I had...yet you won't fix it! Parking is a block away. "good old fashioned feel"
The hotel is in a good location in a hilly town. Our room was a spacious and comfortable suite.Genuine Expedia guest review
Everything was wonderful. There was one challenge with the check-in time. I had an e-mail that said check-in time was 3 PM. The hotel said it was 4 PM. I think if the check-in time is so late, check-out time should be later than 11 AM. I loved the hotel, but felt that the cost was too high for the minium amount of time you are allowed to stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was clean and the staff friendly. We had an emergency evacuation due to a patron using a fire extinguisher as part of a joke. Staff was very timely in helping us get back into the hotel after this unfortunate event.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Breakfast was terrible. Service was good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
breakfast was disappointing- selection was very sparse had to park one block awayGenuine Expedia guest review
"Enroute to Pittsburgh"
This hotel is couple of miles from interstate exit. If you get there after 10.00 PM better grab something to eat close to interstate before you come to hotel. You need unload in front of hotel and then go park in a place around hotel. Hotel staff is not aware which lot if full or empty and you may have to check with them couple of times to find what […] other parking places to use. Breakfast is basic and complimentary. Hotel reception staff at night are mostly students and some provide better service while others are busy as experienced by us. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not great, not horrid"
A very middle-of-the road experience. Nice sized refrigerator in the room. Choice of feather or foam pillows - both were on the bed. Walking distance to a few restaurants, including my favorite wing place BWW. Parking is weird - across the street, not well marked, but it is free. Hallway on my floor smelled like unwashed feet, but the room didn't. I […] would stay here again, since it is only a couple of blocks from my destination. I wouldn't stay here if my destination was across town and there was a hotel closer to it. It's an OK hotel, but nothing to write home about. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Wonderfully refurbished classic hotel"
We loved the ambiance of an older hotel that has been updated with modern features. The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. The only negative was the fact that the "welcome" package included a 2 for 1 drink offer in the restaurant, but the restaurant did not know anything about it and would not honor it. I pointed this out to the hotel […] desk and the restaurant manager. The meal at the restaurant was quite good, so I'm not going to complain about the "not free" second glass of wine. "The place that time forgot"
This is a lovely gem of an old hotel which was somewhat refurbished sometime mid century but with quite possibly the loveliest hotel staff I have dealt with in a long time. The rooms are small but the refrigerator magnificent. Nice TV, not so comfortable 3/4 beds with a very uncomfortable sofa bed and peeling wall paper but nonetheless charming and […] clean. They bill a breakfast, but don't bother as what it is, is a lovely elderly woman manning a waffle iron, a few boxes of bran cereal, 2 bagels and maybe 4 or 5 tiny hostess donuts and some yogurt. The coffee is that of brown water and I think I saw a few small cartons of milk, so either charge more and do something real or don't bother with this fake breakfast. Otherwise, a step back in time with, again, a lovely staff. Great location in the middle of Morgantown so if there for downtown University perfect location. Parking is SELF, make no mistake, there is no valet parking and it is across the street (about 2 blocks) so drop off your bags at the door and then go park. Otherwise if you have to go to Morgantown (and we did because our son is a grad student there) then this is a great place to stay, but maybe opt for a king, but if bringing the family prepare to snuggle! "Charming, quaint hotel"
The hotel itself was nice, just a few minor mentions of things to improve. The wifi was a weak signal, the shades could be updated(small tears let too much light in), housekeeping could leave extra soap and shampoo for day 2 of stay. The main problem is out of the hotel's control but there's a lot of homeless people that set up shop nearby. They were […] not misbehaved, just sad to see. Shopkeepers and businesses need to come together to encourage them to seek safe shelter, which is available but not enforced. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

It was good. The only negative was that the soda machine on the hall didn't work & didn't post the cost of the items.Genuine Expedia guest review
"old world charm"
The hotel was lovely, breakfast a definate advantage and the front desk staff was welcoming and friendly. The only downside was the 3AM garbage dumpster pick up outside our window. The window air conditioner was also on the loud side but as it was a lovely night we just opened the window. Most likely if we hadn't we would't have heard the garbage pick […] up. All in all would stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location, but has Downside"
One of my favorite places to stay in Morgantown. It's in a great location – just below the dinning district. The floor of the hotel don't have vending machines, but I can forgive this since there is a convenience store within walking distance. Their parking area is small as well, and they share the lot with two other businesses.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Clarion Restaurant/ lounge is closed on Sundays"
There is nothing about this hotel that is "exceptional." The parking is in a lot across the street at the end of another block. The restaurant and lounge is closed on Sundays. The continental breakfast is a joke -- we went to a bakery attached to the hotel and bought breakfast on Monday. The room was nice and very clean but I wouldn't stay there ag […] ain. "Good hotel, historic building"
This is the former Hotel Morgan. The breakfast was mediocre, though. The location is great and the room was large and very comfortable. It is in walking distance to downtown and WVU.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Old Style Hotel"
12/04/14 John S Atlanta, Georgia
Hotel is located downtown. Hard to see signage from street level but reminds me of an old mining town hotel with saloon at front. Old architecture but rooms are new and clean and good sized. Good craft beer bar and restaurant across the street. Don't park rear end first in the deigned lot. You will be ticketed for not parking nose in!
"If you're not there to party.....stay away."
12/03/14 jss697 Clarksville, Maryland
Pros: location-it's close to campus, the people mover and free parking is available. free breakfast. Charming banquet room on first floor and nice restaurant on top floor. Rooms are large, fairly clean. Cons: Rooms and hallways in desperate need of updating. My floor got really loud each night from 2:15-3AM when the drunks rolled in from the bars. Yelling, banging, running. Unless you're in Morgantown to party--stay away from this place. The couple next to us got into a loud, long drunken fight. The staff was very responsive and did everything they could, but the damage was done. We didn't get any sleep at this hotel. After two nights, we left. Note: It was NOT a football weekend

The hotel is in the center of the town and we found it to be very comfortable. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The pillows are delightful, I am trying to find them online. Staff was very cordial and helpful. We had dinner in the restaurant which was reasonable and quite good. Would recommend. The wifi worked fine with a Windows notebook but could not get the iPad connected. Otherwise, no worries.
"Parking an Issue"
Parking lot we were directed to does not belong to hotel. I backed into a spot because we have a full-sized pick-up truck and didn't think that I could back out if the lot was full. The rows are really close together and narrowly spaced. I placed the permit on the dash, which was on a thin piece of paper, printed on both sides, which made it difficult to read. Especially at midnight, when eyes are tired from traveling. Anyway, next morning had a parking ticket from the city of Morgantown. The city owned the lot. I got to looking at the signage. The print was very small on the bottom of each sign between each parking spot. Since I didn't have to use the local pay station I didn't read any of the instructions about how to pay. (Hotel provided the permit.) Our TV remote would turn the heater on and off as we navigated the channels. Kinda strange. The sheets and blanket were really thin for the time of year that we stayed. Mid-november. If we were there during hot summer weather, the sheets and blanket would have been perfect. The hotel is nicer than many that we've stayed at. It is nice that it is clean. But I would have felt better paying about $20 less per night than we did ($102) per night. Especially since we had issues with the parking.

This hotel is ideally situated for discovering Morgantown. The man on reception was helpful when it came to telling us about restaurants in the area. Unfortunately the hotel itself seemed generally very tired and in need of refurbishment. Our room was very big, but when we used the shower, it emitted a loud squeal, which meant that we had to get in and out very quickly so as not to disturb other guests. There was also a lot of construction work going on outside (September 2014), as well as traffic noise, and while this is not the fault of the hotel, it did mean that we were disturbed early in the morning. There was not a big choice for breakfast - just a very basic continental breakfast, and while you could have bacon, eggs or sausage, it did not taste good.
"Great staff, and clean rooms"
10/13/14 Alyssa N
Went down for a wedding weekend it was such a rustic setting topped with an upscale look on the 8th floor. At first we were alarmed by the hotel because the old appearance but we found the charm in how up kept it was. Our room was fine for my boyfriend and myself, clean and cozy. The wedding took place downstairs in the reception hall/ ballroom style area on the lobby floor. The tall ceilings and functional space worked perfect and would suggest others use of the same location. The staff and food was also great! So helpful, and we were so pleased how polite they were. The 8th floor was beautiful, looked freshly redone and the food again was great, the chefs there really know what they are doing, prime rib is sooooo tender. My only complaint would be breakfast it was nothing special. But otherwise great location to walk about the town, and great place to stay and have a wedding.
"Comfortable Stay in Historic Hotel"
10/07/14 mustangsally685 Hermitage, PA
My husband and I spent an overnight here while driving to North Carolina. The hotel is right in downtown Morgantown and close to WVU and downtown establishments. The hotel is clean and well kept. The bed was very comfortable and there was a flat screen tv as well as a couch in the room. There was an armoire for hanging clothes, rather than a closet. We enjoyed a delicious dinner at the hotel's restaurant on the eighth floor. Breakfast was complimentary and a typical hotel continental style with both hot and cold offerings. I would definitely stay here again. Staff was very friendly and rates quite reasonable!

Hotel did not meet my expectations although I had read that it had been remodeled. Rooms were small for the price and much of the furniture and accoutrements were dated. Desk service, however, was pleasant and friendly. Breakfast was just so-so,

This is a older hotel which is in the middle of town. The inside is classic and the rooms are clean. My room (302) faced the road which for a small town was very loud. I couldn't believe the amount of sirens and loud trucks going up and down the road all thru the night. After wearing a pair of ear plugs I had a great nights rest. I'm not sure if I would stay here again because of the noise, not the hotel itself. If I did, I would ask for a room further away from the main road.
