"Enroute to Pittsburgh"
This hotel is couple of miles from interstate exit. If you get there after 10.00 PM better grab something to eat close to interstate before you come to hotel. You need unload in front of hotel and then go park in a place around hotel. Hotel staff is not aware which lot if full or empty and you may have to check with them couple of times to find what […] other parking places to use. Breakfast is basic and complimentary. Hotel reception staff at night are mostly students and some provide better service while others are busy as experienced by us. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not great, not horrid"
A very middle-of-the road experience. Nice sized refrigerator in the room. Choice of feather or foam pillows - both were on the bed. Walking distance to a few restaurants, including my favorite wing place BWW. Parking is weird - across the street, not well marked, but it is free. Hallway on my floor smelled like unwashed feet, but the room didn't. I […] would stay here again, since it is only a couple of blocks from my destination. I wouldn't stay here if my destination was across town and there was a hotel closer to it. It's an OK hotel, but nothing to write home about. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Wonderfully refurbished classic hotel"
We loved the ambiance of an older hotel that has been updated with modern features. The staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. The only negative was the fact that the "welcome" package included a 2 for 1 drink offer in the restaurant, but the restaurant did not know anything about it and would not honor it. I pointed this out to the hotel […] desk and the restaurant manager. The meal at the restaurant was quite good, so I'm not going to complain about the "not free" second glass of wine. "The place that time forgot"
This is a lovely gem of an old hotel which was somewhat refurbished sometime mid century but with quite possibly the loveliest hotel staff I have dealt with in a long time. The rooms are small but the refrigerator magnificent. Nice TV, not so comfortable 3/4 beds with a very uncomfortable sofa bed and peeling wall paper but nonetheless charming and […] clean. They bill a breakfast, but don't bother as what it is, is a lovely elderly woman manning a waffle iron, a few boxes of bran cereal, 2 bagels and maybe 4 or 5 tiny hostess donuts and some yogurt. The coffee is that of brown water and I think I saw a few small cartons of milk, so either charge more and do something real or don't bother with this fake breakfast. Otherwise, a step back in time with, again, a lovely staff. Great location in the middle of Morgantown so if there for downtown University perfect location. Parking is SELF, make no mistake, there is no valet parking and it is across the street (about 2 blocks) so drop off your bags at the door and then go park. Otherwise if you have to go to Morgantown (and we did because our son is a grad student there) then this is a great place to stay, but maybe opt for a king, but if bringing the family prepare to snuggle! "Charming, quaint hotel"
The hotel itself was nice, just a few minor mentions of things to improve. The wifi was a weak signal, the shades could be updated(small tears let too much light in), housekeeping could leave extra soap and shampoo for day 2 of stay. The main problem is out of the hotel's control but there's a lot of homeless people that set up shop nearby. They were […] not misbehaved, just sad to see. Shopkeepers and businesses need to come together to encourage them to seek safe shelter, which is available but not enforced. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

It was good. The only negative was that the soda machine on the hall didn't work & didn't post the cost of the items.Genuine Expedia guest review
"old world charm"
The hotel was lovely, breakfast a definate advantage and the front desk staff was welcoming and friendly. The only downside was the 3AM garbage dumpster pick up outside our window. The window air conditioner was also on the loud side but as it was a lovely night we just opened the window. Most likely if we hadn't we would't have heard the garbage pick […] up. "Great Location, but has Downside"
One of my favorite places to stay in Morgantown. It's in a great location – just below the dinning district. The floor of the hotel don't have vending machines, but I can forgive this since there is a convenience store within walking distance. Their parking area is small as well, and they share the lot with two other businesses.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Clarion Restaurant/ lounge is closed on Sundays"
There is nothing about this hotel that is "exceptional." The parking is in a lot across the street at the end of another block. The restaurant and lounge is closed on Sundays. The continental breakfast is a joke -- we went to a bakery attached to the hotel and bought breakfast on Monday. The room was nice and very clean but I wouldn't stay there ag […] ain. "Good hotel, historic building"
This is the former Hotel Morgan. The breakfast was mediocre, though. The location is great and the room was large and very comfortable. It is in walking distance to downtown and WVU.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Beautifully restored historic hotel"
I can say enough good about the Hotel Morgan! It has been beautifully restored to what must have been it's former glory with lovely woodwork, window treatments, wallpaper and chandeliers. The rooms are large, clean and tasteful and the view (from a six floor corner room) is amazing. The front desk staff were friendly and extremely helpful. I felt like […] I was stepping back in time. The breakfast was just so-so. They do include yogurt and some fruit with the usual offering of donuts and other carbs. The internet didn't work in our room, and I heard other guests comment that theirs didn't either. However it works fine in the mezzanine and that's a perfectly comfortable (if dark) place to take care of internet activities. The business center seems to be well appointed with two computers, a copier, and sundries. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"HC: No roll in showers despite recent renovation"
08/23/14 bogdana Washington DC, District of Columbia
This hotel is charming and the staff I met in person were warm and friendly. The hotel has been renovated and the room we were in was clean and classic, with a nice sized bathroom for a wheelchair user; however, we were told there would be a roll in shower (zero depth) and when we arrived after our long drive, frazzled and tired, we found out that there was not one roll in shower in the house. They treated us to the night and offered to help us find another hotel, which we were able to do on our own. I appreciated the attempt to right the wrong, and I would recommend this hotel to anyone that doesn't need a roll in shower.
"Unique old hotel, breakfast was awesome"
08/22/14 Branwen73 Berea, Ohio
The good: The hotel, itself, is very interesting and personally I enjoyed the history and the old style rooms. The beds were very comfortable and the room was sparkling clean. Shower worked well, had micro and fridge, loveseat, work desk. AC worked well. Breakfast was delicious with many choices. biscuits and gravy, waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, cereals, potatoes, hard boiled eggs, pastries and more. The hotel was quiet and slept well. The young gentlemen at the front desk in the morning was pleasant and professional. The less than good. Wifi signal was poor at our end of the hotel and even after they reset the router could not get online. decaf coffee only in the rooms. The reason I was given for this was the fact that they have coffee available in the lobby and at breakfast (yeah, and so do all the other many many Choice hotels I have stayed in). So after I got into my jammies, no coffee for me. Was not going downstairs to get it. I liked the old hotel, though. I will stay again.
"historic hotel is a bit pricy"
06/29/14 Heartforu albany
the room was big, bedding and furniture a bit old, bathroom and toiletries were basic. Parking is across the street, the breakfast was unappealing. it is in a good location in the heart of the city. For 135 dollars i expected a bit more.
"Clean, Convenient, and Friendly"

I stayed one night at the Clarion Hotel Morgan while in town for the Deckers Creek Trail Half Marathon. I lodged here for the same race two years ago as well. Both visits were great! The Facility: The building is old; historic, in fact. Some may be scared off by this, but I welcome the opportunity to stay in atypical hotels. Overall it is an interesting building that is well preserved. Parking: FREE valet parking! Yes, FREE! I walked everywhere when I checked in, but upon check out the service was quick. I hope I gave the employee a decent tip. He had the car cooled and ready for me, at the door, within minutes. My Room: I found my room to be very clean and spacious! The furnishings were a little tired, and there were a few minor cosmetic blemishes, such as a scratched armoire, a piece of wallpaper that was peeling, and a foggy window with a broken seal. I read reviews and didn't go into the experience expecting a new, pristine environment. I was not disappointed, although it would have been nice to see out the window. Breakfast: I was happy to find that the breakfast started early enough (6:30 AM, I think) for me to grab a quick bite before dashing off for the race. The food was average. It served its purpose. I think I ate a muffin and a yogurt, while sipping decent hotel coffee. Location: Fabulous! It's a 5 minute walk to the riverfront park and to the beautiful trail that's part of the race course. The hotel is also about a 5 minute walk from downtown Morgantown, offering food, shops a brewery, and other businesses. I loved the proximity to the park where shuttles took runners to the starting line. I was able to pick up my race packet, hustle back to my room to store the race shirt, and make it back in time to catch the shuttle. Staff: Very friendly and helpful! The guys at the front desk gave me accurate walking directions to the park, the trail, and the downtown area. They assisted me in setting up the internet connection, and they were extremely apologetic when my key didn't work after the race. Value: I was able to get a discounted rate for the race. At the price I payed, the value was great! I'm not sure how different my special event rate was from the typical rate. I would definitely stay here again for this event, and would recommend it to out of town runners as well.
"Location, location, location"

The best thing about this hotel is the location within walking distance to orientation at WVU. The staff was friendly and accommodating. This is an older building and the rooms are what you would expect. Our room was comfortable and we enjoyed a great nights sleep. The hotel provided a parking pass, which was like winning the golden ticket!
06/19/14 skinner9237 Ellicott City, Maryland
Went for WVU orientation for 2 nights. First room on arrival was rejected because of the door that would not close from the outside. The table lamp also would not stay lit. Second room was fine. Only one bar of soap for sink and shower. Given a discount for one night because of door issue but charged for a safe that we did not ask for and did not need. There is a sign at check in but since we did not see it, it was surprising and a rip off. Breakfast ok. No yogurt or fresh fruit although there was something wrapped up in a basket. No breakfast staff for a Monday morning. You could make a waffle. Hotel atmosphere is somewhat ala Bates Motel. Dark wood throughout. Parking a short walk away. Not offered valet but that's fine. Location is what is selling. Walking distance great for the school although a lot of uphill walking. New restaurant across the street which was great (Iron Horse). Coffee maker not restocked and cup left dirty and untouched.
"Blood stains on sheets and blanket"

We stayed there one night. The sheets and the blanket had blood stains and were not washed. The staff quickly changed the sheets and mentioned that they would give a discount. However, at check out none as given. Next time, we will stay somewhere else.

Historic beautiful hotel. Clean, very nice rooms and friendly staff. In a great location within walking distance of downtown points of interest. The restaurant and lobby pub has great hours. Nice bath. This is my second time here and would love to stay there again.
"Older Building--Fantastic staff"
04/08/14 Charlie A Huntington, West Virginia
We recently stayed at the Hotel Morgan. It is an old building but the modern upgrades are good. There were plenty of outlets, which is not always present in an old building. The location is challenging due to the one-way streets in Morgantown, but the free valet parking minimizes the problem of parling. The complimentary breakfast was good and the hotel was clean. We found the bathroom to be large and well appointed. The bed was comfortable, and even though the age of the building made a window heat/AC unit necessary, it worked well and was fairly quiet. The big plus was the staff. The front desk clerk was very helpful asdn informative, and knowledgeable about the hotel. It turned out that I had stayed there when my sister first went to WVU, some 50 years ago. I would definately stay here again.

We stayed here being caught in a snowstorm on our way home from Disney. Learned that it is a very historic hotel, Eleanor Roosevelt, Theodore Roosevelt, Truman and Kennedy's have stayed here. Nice young men working there....seemed like university students. The room was fine, beds not all that comfortable. Booked through priceline so had a look at reviews after the fact. I thought it was weird that they didn't play up the history or try to restore the entire hotel. Looks like it had a renovation a long while ago. I just find it strange that Clarion doesn't seem to know the value of what they have there as it is a bit rundown. lol saw that it was said to be haunted too if you believe that sort of thing. Didn't have a very restful night, just because I didn't find the bed that comfortable and not because of things that go bump in the night. Complimentary breakfast and another nice university student.....very nice and helpful in the breakfast room.
