"Just what I expected"
I chose the Paris due to its location at the centre of the strip. As a previous visitor to Las Vegas I had high exceptions of a hotel on the strip and wasn't disappointed. Yes a few bits in the room looked a bit 'tired' but this in no way detracted from the overall wow factor of the room. The service was excellent a short check-in line by Vegas standards and the lady at check-in was helpful in giving information about things to do locally without trying to sell anything. We had an issue with an alarm going off continually in the next room but within 5 minutes of a phone call to the front desk the problem was dealt with. The one downside was the breakfast. We chose to pay to have breakfast included which was provided in a small cafe in the adjoining Ballys while the food was very nice the wait to get served was at least 20 minutes so next time I would give that a miss. the Hotel was in a great location for Vegas because it was walking distance from pretty much everything on the strip. I noticed that was about the only great thing about this hotel. The sign to check in is very poorly marked and people were wondering where to check in but as it turned out the check in is the same place as you check out but the sign […] only says check out. The room was ok. The beds were comfortable but the cable tv wasn't great. I remember the channel giving you safety information about what to do in the event of a fire there was no audio so you couldn't hear what they are saying. There wasn't a huge selection of channels but I guess they figure you will be out and about rather than be in your room. "disappointing - I felt like cattle"
It´s alright if a hotel in Las Vegas predominantly wants their customers to play at the slot machines - but I don´t want to feel like a total idiot for having booked this hotel. The staff treated me as if they did me a favour when I checked in - or should I say: tried to check in? I had two questions (one of them wanting to watch a show) and they were […] completely indifferent towards me. The employee checking me in, however, was not entirely disinterested: she tried hard to convince me to agree to an update (60 Dollars per night) because the room is "so much nicer" and "even has a flat screen". I was impressed. My friend wanted to make an international call and was told that the money on her prepaid card was not sufficient for that - the next day she talked in another hotel for 36 (!!!) minutes on this amount. If you cannot use the internet whithout having to add money and to use a cable (!) - that´s fine, we´re only in 2013 after all, and why should the Paris have realised that the wireless has been invented yet? I could go on and on and on, but I think it´s sufficient to say: I´ve stayed in the Luxor twice, once in the Venetian and once in the MGM. In every one of these hotels I enjoyed my stay and I would go back any time. Paris? Never again. Oh, by the way: I am a German journalist, I published a book about traveling in the US.
