"Centrally Located"

Hotel has an excellent location. The front desk person was a little rude but the service staff were warm and friendly. Across the street is the beach. They have a nice poolside and an outdoor bar located right next to the pool. The hotel is within walking distance to nearly everything. The main shopping area is four blocks away. Beautiful bed and breakfast houses surround the area. A good hotel but a little pricey for the value.

I don't understand the negative reviews. The suite I stayed in was a bargain, even for off season! Prices may seem steep for peak season, but aren't they all on the shore in July - August. The room was very clean, the bathroom spotless with plenty of towels and other supplies. The staff were attentive, friendly and helpful. I will stay there again.

My family and I stayed at this hotel for the weekend and I have to say it was the most uncomfortable stay. The staff was extremely unprofessional and rude. When you are paying to stay at a hotel you at least expect the staff to be pleasant. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and we will keep as far away from it when booking our next trip.

I was very happy to have spent my time at this hotel for my first stay at cape may,,,Even though it was the off season (March 20-22)the hotel staff was wonderful, the room was very clean and the area had everything you needed..it is centrally located and the beach is right across the street..even though food was not available at the hotel, within a few short blocks, you can walk to get breakfast, lunch and dinner....I would definetly reccommend this hotel and that you book it with hotels.com because the savings are substantial as opposed to calling the htoel on your own...

The hotel was to expensive for this time of year. There was no convinient place to get food. The hotel resturant was closed for the winter. There was a film on the tile in the rooms in which we had slipped on many times. The beds were not comfortable and the pilows were old and lumpy. The hotel staff was not friendly and when we left a day early from our stay because of the multiple slips they did not even ask if there was anything they could do for us

It isn't even a two star hotel bathrooms a so small turning around is an issue no heat in bathrooms no exhast fans, carpets are dirty, rooms are small just very over priced for what you get. Management don't care just what your money, spend it elsewhere. This an old outdated place with no old charm or appeal.

Positive:The hotel is in a great location, just across the street from a nice beach. Breakfast was great - huge selection and good quality. Improvement areas: Staff is VERY unfriendly and extremely unhelpful. From the front desk, to the restaurant staff - they all seemed as if they really wanted to be somewhere else. The only friendly person was the parking lot attendant and one of the waiters. Strngely enough, the other guests were not very friendly either. Also, not very kid friendly. For the ridiculous price I paid, I rather go somewhere else.

This was our first stay at the Marquis De Lafayette. We travel often to the NJ shore to visit family. We chose the Marquis De Lafayette because it is one of the few better-quality hotels in Cape May County where you can rent a suite-style room (very helpful when traveling with a 4-year-old who goes to bed at 8 p.m.). The room was clean and in good condition, although it was a bit small. The breakfast buffet (included in our rental rate) was good, and the breakfast servers were especially friendly and attentive (particularly Ioan). The hotel's location on the beachfront turned out to be a huge advantage, since the mild October weather allowed us to go for a number of barefoot walks on the beach. My only major complaint is that on the Saturday night of our stay, we were awoken repeatedly until 1:30 a.m. by loud music from a nightclub (I think the one that is just across the street from the hotel). We finally turned on our room's AC unit to drown out the noise. For what the Marquis charges, I would expect better soundproofing from the rooms. One minor complaint is that the hotel advertises Wi-Fi internet access, but in reality you can only use it if you go to a public lounge space on a particular floor of the hotel.

This is a waterfront hotel that would be absolutely perfect to stay in during summer and the warmer months. However, during winter, you are better off staying at one of the many charming B&Bs in Cape May. The doors and windows in our Marquis de Lafayette room were very drafty, rendering our room bitterly cold during our overnight stay.

The hotel is primarily a summer resort hotel. The room was well furnished and spotlessly clean. All rooms face the beach and sea, just across the street and many. like this one have exterior walkways to their doors. It was not the management's fault that there was a near-gale blowing! The dining room was open for a buffet breakfast only, but that was very good. The staff were polite and competent. I would happily stay here again, especially in the off season, as most of the other hotels in town are closed, and these people really seem to wannt to please their off-season customers.

Other than an unfriendly check-in attendant at the front desk, our stay was excellent. The victorian decor in the lobby was so nice. The pool was heated, clean and well-maintained and the Victorian Resturant was excellent...with friendly and attentive staff. I would recommend this hotel to couples or families wanting a nice place to stay which is all inclusive, with a location central to restaurants, shopping and also a beautiful beach.
