Overview

Location. Located at the southern tip of the SoBe district in Miami Beach, Fla., the all-suite Mercury South Beach stands one block from the ocean and is surrounded by clubs, cafes and designer shops.

Hotel Features. The on-site Nemo Restaurant offers indoor and al fresco dining. Specialties include shrimp and ginger soup, and salmon and snapper seafood entrées. Business amenities include fax and photocopy services, and a boarding pass kiosk. Wireless Internet access is complimentary throughout the hotel. Recreational amenities include an outdoor splash pool and spa tub, and guests receive discounted access to a fitness center located one mile away. Additional hotel amenities include valet parking and spa services upon request.

    MY WIFE AND I STAYED IN A DELUXE ROOM WHICH WAS VERY NICE,PROBLEM IS THAT THE ROOM WAS IN FRONT OF THE HOTEL ABOVE A RESTARAUNT, WHICH BECAME A PROBLEM AROUND 2-4AM IF YOUR TRYING TO SLEEP AND PEOPLE ARE SCREAMING @ THE TOP OF THEIR LUNGS. THERE SHOULD BE SOUND PROOF WINDOWS. I MADE MY RESERVATION THROUGH HOTELS.COM GOT TO SOUTH BEACH AROUND 10:30AM BUT WAS TOLD I COULDN'T GET THE ROOM TILL 3PM -WASN'T TOO HAPPY THAT MY PREGNANT WIFE AND I HAD TO WALK AROUND FOR 3 1/2 HOURS UNTIL I CALLED AND ASKED THEM TO MAKE AN EXCEPTION. WHEN CHECKING IN THEY WITHDREW A $100 SECURITY DEPOSIT AND I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD BE RETURNED ONTO MY CARD WHEN LEAVING. WHEN WE CHECKED OUT A DIFFERENT CLERK @ THE FRONT DESK TOLD ME THEY HOLD $20 OF THAT DEPOSIT! I TOLD HER THAT IS NOT WHAT I WAS TOLD THE DAY BEFORE! SHE SD SHE WOULD PUT THE $100 BACK ONTO MY CARD! AGAIN THE ROOM WAS NICE BUT EVERYTHING SURROUNDING THE ROOM WASN'T WHAT YOU WOULD EXPECT.

    When I booked this hotel it was for the location. When I arrived I found it didn't smell that good in the lobby. Then I went to me room which was a junior suite right over the main air conditioning units; that were very noisy. The jetted tub didn't work, there was chewing gum on the wall by the bed, some of the blinds were broken and the room never didn't have light coming at nighttime. Only good thing was the help the front desk gave me.

    We stayed 2 nights after a week stay in the Caribbean and enjoyed the South Beach area. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom areas great for the 2 of us. The window in the bedroom did not have a good fit when closing so we could hear street noise and activity from the restaurant. The whirlpool tub was large, but the jets did not work. There is no ticket kiosk in the lobby to check in to the airline 24 hours before your flight. It took about 10 minutes to reach the front desk for a wakeup call but they were courteous, and we did get the wakeup call which was more important than how long it took to set it up. Over all, we felt the hotel provided what we were looking for and would stay again. We enjoyed the area and would stay again. The pool looked clean and others were using it.

    Unexpectedly clean for the price, rooms are well equipped (microwave, refridgerator, dishes) and they have a nice swimming pool. There's not much of a TV, but who needs a TV in South Beach! Very good restaurants close by and a short walk to the ocean. Only down side is the lobby smelled kind of funny and there's no door on the shower (but it was a jacuzzi tub) I would definetly return for another stay.

    I stayed at this hotel because it had the least spotty reviews of what I was looking for on South Beach. Hotel management can EASILY improve the quality of this hotel. The hotel staff was very friendly and attentive and the location excellent.. in a quiet area of South beach with a few well known, nice restaurants. The executive suite I stayed in was nicely designed and contemporary. It felt like an apartment but looked like it hadn't been maintained very well. The baseboards needed painting, the painted doors needed cleaning, and the chrome plated furniture had seen a few too many wet mop-heads. The staff quickly fixed a problem with the bathtub faucet when I called down to the front desk. I will stay here again if it is lightly renovated.

    I rented a suite for the night for a romantic getaway. When I get there, turns out we were upgraded to a larger room (PH). There isn't enough space here to describe how perfect everything was. The Front desk was extremely helpful and courteous and the room was exceptional. The bed was extremely comfortable and everything was in order for when we got there. The beach was only 2 blocks away and the pool downstairs was private and clean. The location itself was fantastic considering how close everything was (Ocean drive was 2 blocks away too and the exit for the turn pike not far at all). If you are looking for a get away for the weekend (or for a week or two) or a place to hang out and party, this hotel is definitely it. I would most definitely stay there again... and again.. and again...

    When we arrived we were upgraded to a larger suite which was BEAUTIFUL. The room was comfortable and the size was perfect. We stayed for a night, to depart on a cruise the next day. LAter in the night we were walking distance to the night life and the beach. Great location, would stay there again in future Miami trips.

    I have previously stood at The Mercury. However, This time around, it was not what I had expected. There was only one person cleaning rooms. My room was never cleaned the entire trip. I was never asked if I wanted room service. A friend of mine stood soen the hall from me, and their Air Conditiner was out of service. To top it off, the pool was never cleaned. There was a point where the pool was very dirty and with a brown coloring as well with an ordor. This was a very big disappointment considering it was a group of 10 ppl and there were no courtesy. It's a shame they've lost our business.

    I had read all of the reviews about the hotel prior to going. Even though it came recommended by several friends, they were guys who would not necessarily notice the small things that matter to us women. For example, our girlfriends put out the "maid service" sign and received no service. We put the "do not disturb" and received service. The hotel is great for 20 or 30 something bunch looking to chill with friends or boyfriend. This is NOT a hotel for young children or babies. DO NOT bring them there! There is a great easy atmosphere and what goes on there would not fly at other hotels. They are staffed very slim and although it is certainly not their fault, the owners should look at staffing in 30% more, this would improve return rate immensely. Overall I had a great time there and would return, knowing that it has this overall atmosphere. Also, we were only able to use the pool really only once because they DON'T clean it on a regular basis. We arrived on a Friday and I didn't actually see them clean it till check out on Monday. It was grey colored Sunday night. GROSS! I don't even like to use the pool, but knowing it was there for use is helpful.

    Nice hotel with helpful staff, only problem is that its a bit far from the main action of Miami Beach eg Lincoln Street is sixteen blocks away. Was upgraded to a tower suite on check-in without making any requests. Only two blocks from the beach.

    They need to improve on cleanliness of individual rooms. This was my second stay there and it was pretty much the same. It could be the very best if they just took pride in making sure each room was clean from front to back, top to bottom.

    The room was very nice. It was like a small apartment/studio. The jacuzzi tub was a nice surprise. The dishes and silverware were all clean and usable, and a definite help with the leftovers! The walk to the beach takes just over five minutes, but is pleasant and uncomplicated. Definitely worth the price.

    This was an old hotel in a very crowded section of town, therefore parking was outrageous in price and difficult to find. There was tons of renovations being done around the hotel and construction equipment was stored in the stairwells. My husband said the desk staff was not very friendly. The temp of the pool was cool and surrounded by tall buildings so little sun. In the room there was very little counterspace in the bathroom and the fridge was full of mini-bar stuff - little room left over for our own stuff. Positives: a full kitchenette with stove, microwave and dishes; a block walk to the beach; whirlpool tub. We got the room for half price and thought this was high for the value of the room - we would NEVER pay anywhere near full price for this room!

    I got a good rate and so decided to stay a little further from the center of the action. I have stayed there before and I liked it. The rooms come with a mini kitchen which is nice since I like my coffee in the morning as soon as I get up. I however have a few things to point out to potential guests. Vallet Parking is $35.00 per day.(there is no choice as there is no public parking for 7 blocks) There is a resort fee. You have to pay to use the safe in the room. (even though it wasnt working for the first two days of my stay) and you have to pay for the coffee that you use in the coffee machine that didn't arrive till the second day that I was there. The room I was in was plesant and I liked it. However early one morning I was awoken by a lound noise that contnued for about half an hour. This was followed by a terrible odour that filled the room. I thaught I would gag so I had to lock my self in the bathroom and cover my nose with a damp towel and wait till it passed. It turns out they were pumping the sewer and apparently it is done on a regular basis. The toilet leaked for my entire stay of a week despite the fact that I reported it to the front desk thee times. Besides the fact that it was annoying what about the wastage of water.

    We were extremely disappointed in this hotel. It is not at all the 3.5 star hotel we were promised. The hallways and common areas look like an SRO. Have they replaced the carpet in the last 20 years? The room was modern and comfortable, but the noise from the street was incredible and continued until 4 a.m. each night. Then the truck traffic started at 6 a.m. Sleep was impossible. Staff were rude and did not respond to our request to change rooms. Overall, a lousy place to stay.

    I was very disappointed in the general level of cleanliness,amenities and service at this hotel.Boutique hotel means something special and unique to me and the Mercury was neither. When I arrived a full scale row was going on with a very disgruntled guest. My room was almost next to one with a party of young girls who finally settled down about three in the morning. I found a tissue in my bed and the pillows were very uncomfortable.Then the shower failed to work.Around the bath was a mess of unhygienic and badly applied mastic. The restaurant does not serve breakfast-it is really a sushi place and the shuttle between the airport only runs every two hours so this is never convenient for your flight. All in all for the price appalling value.The only good thing were the reception staff who tried to be helpful but I won't be going back.

    Coming from a 5 day cruise, staying at Mercury was a bonus. The Jr. Suite was like a mini apartment complete with a kichenette. Our room was right by the pool and jacuzzi. The hotel was not crowded so we mostly had the pool (capacity of 5) to ourselves. The only downfall was the terrible hotel service from front desk attendant, Frankie. When we first enter the lobby he did not acknowledge our presence for over five minutes as he was busy reading. At check out time he announced to us fives minutes prior to shuttle pick up time that it would not be picking us up because it was full from picking up others from sister hotels. There was no apologies for forcing us to scramble for a taxi so that we would not miss our flight. I was furious, which led a damper to an otherwise nice visit.

    The entrance to my room was blocked by a large pail collecting dripping water that was seeping in theough the ceiling. The halls were damp and musty. Cleanliness was minimal. Parking was overpriced. Location was excellent.

    We were very satisfied overall with this hotel. The room was beautiful and very clean. It was located right in the heart of South Beach, within walking distance of all the attractions which was exactly what we were looking for. However the customer service at the hotel left much to be desired for. We were scheduled to arrive in Miami at 10am, and were told by the hotel we could check in early. When we arrived, they did take our luggage however told us the room wasn't ready yet and they would "call us" when it was. We spent the next several hours wandering around Miami, and weren't actually allowed to check in until AFTER the regular check-in time of 3. Most of the staff were unfriendly. Still, the overall experience was great. If you're looking for a great location, nice, clean room and decent price, this hotel is a good choice.

    This was the perfect hotel for us. It is within walking distance of all the South Beach attractions, but on the edge of the art deco district so was quiet enough to get a good nights sleep. Having read many reviews on other hotels having dated facilities, this one was spotless and modern. We got a late deal and the value for money was exceptional.

    All together the hotel served its purpose and at the value I would stay there again. The upside was the price, big suites, near Nikki Beach (a very popular beach/club on South Beach), and free airport shuttle (although very late). The biggest downside was the $33.00 "resort fee," that I was unaware of and never advised about, below average service, and being greeted by a prostitute as we checked into the hotel.

    Spacious 2 TV Kitchen modern convenient to 2 restaurants downstairs and one xcross the street open til 5am In room delivery from any restaurant - convenient- free shuttle bus to airport too I love this hidden treasure. I hate to be so truthful for fear of too many bookings and then I cant get a suite.

    The Hotel Suite exceeded out expectations with giving us a penthouse suite and we couldn't haven imagined how nice the terrace would be! The room was clean and comfortable. The location was great too!

    We were not expecting what we got in the Jr. Suite. It was beautiful!! The King size memory foam bed was amazing. It was away from the crowd, but not too far from the action. There were three of us in the room so the room rate was a huge steal. I would go there time and time again. P.S. I didn't see any ants.

    Nice suites hotel with decent restaurant options right on premise. The hotel is furnished in 'Scandinavian design' or IKEA-type furniture - longer on form than on comfort. We arrived late and found the staff very courteous, however the room itself was lacking in amenities (e.g.: one large towel, no hand towels or washcloths, very limited toiletries ....). A bit too minimalist for my tastes ... However, on the plus side, this is definitely a price-performer and we loved the location just two short blocks from the sand .... also the suites are spacious (for the area) ... just don't expect anything more than a basic, reasonably-clean place to rack. Still, would probably stay there again and hard to beat the hotels.com rack rate.

    location: great and quiet, especially with kids. playground 1 street away. stayed in room with kitchen/stove. had balcony which was nice and had small table/chair. kitchen did not have pots but were sent up once we called the desk. had to supply your own sponge and dish soap. bedroom and living room had their own tv and were separated. couch was stained. carpet old. bed was very comfortable but pillows were old and uncomfortable but they gave you 4-5. bathroom was nice and clean. tub was big. toilet was in its own cubby. you had to call daily for towels since housekeeping did not leave them after cleaning. tons of storage. 2 closets with hangers and shelves. fyi: take a trip to publix for grocery shopping since local stores were limited in supplies/expensive/a lot of the food was expired.

    Honestly, the room was fine for what we paid for it. There was a king sized memory foam matress and a pull out couch so it comfortably slept 4. There were 2 sinks and a separate toilet which was perfect for our large party when we got ready to go out at night. It was located just down from the Big Pink -- a FABULOUS diner that we could've eaten at every night -- and next door to Prive, a very happening club, but for a much younger crowd. However, the staff was incredibly unfriendly, the room was untidy, we had call every day for fresh towels, the pool got sun maybe 1 hour a day and locals would easily break in to wash themselves off in it. Every boutique hotel we looked at offered a happy hour, yet ours just threw some bottles in an icebucket and let us assume it was for us. I was unimpressed with the service and attention that I'm used to for a boutique hotel.

    Fantastic Hotel from the staff to the room. But understand this hotel is in the middle of everything of South Beach. That's good and bad. Good - you can walk everywhere and it's not far. Bad - that means you will easily hear (even on a sunday night) the clubs around the hotel in your room until about 3am to 4am.

    Well situated near the South Beach, this hotel clearly reaches to appear to a less discriminate vacationer. The rooms are grimy (we stayed in two different ones before checking out), the desk help is pleasant but ineffective and not plentiful enough to run the operation, the stench of garbage and sewage waft through the pool area and open bridge connecting the buildings and the parking rates of $35 (per day!) are obscene! After one night, we moved to another hotel that had clean rooms and far more amenities for a lower price.

    We had to switch rooms because the toilet kept running and kept us awake. After switching the next room had the same problem. We learned how to turn the water off. This off the beat hotel has a great ambiance and feel for thre retro art district of South Beach. Probably the only hotel in this area to do so. It has been reburbished in 1998' and probably needs some tender care in recreating it's perfect appeal for a romantic get away.

    The hotel has Ants and a big way. The ants are every way,and the staff have no customer service kills whatso ever. The bed is totally uncomfortable, the bathroom is out dated. The carpet dirty with a smell like the room. The TV are small stains on the chairs and walls. The change of towel always has a stain on it and they look worn out. I really was diappointed and will not be staying there ever ever again!!!!!!!!
