At the start of the Grand Canal, Santa Croce is set immediately across from the bus station and railway station. It is a peaceful quarter adjacent to, but largely unaffected by the visitor hubbub. The picturesque Ponte degli Scalzi is a great place for watching the busy canal traffic and there are many fines churches to explore off the beaten tourist track. The Rialto Bridge is only a 10-minute walk or boat ride away.see all hotels in Venice
"Great Hotel - Good Location - Sketchy Nieghborhood"
The hotel was really nice for the price and was in a convenient location to hit all of the main tourist sites in Munich. The only complaint was that the neighborhood around the hotel is a little sketchy.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is located next to all for the transportation facilities, train, bus and water bus terminal. If you are adventurous you can walk to most of Venice in 15 to 20 minutes. the best way to get around the city is the water buses which all come to the terminal that is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The room was small but clean and looked out over […] the court yard and the breakfast was good. Most of the staff was friendly and helpful there were exceptions. "Hidden Venice Gem"
What a beautiful and quaint little hotel. My mother has a physical disability which makes it difficult for her to walk. The staff were so helpful and accommodating! They even upgraded our room to a beautiful ground floor garden view. Be sure not to book the economy room when booking as it is in another building. Free breakfast was also great and complimentary. This was a great hotel, convenient to land transportation so we didn't have to haul our luggage through the streets and over many bridges, as we saw so many others doing. We could get to the sights on foot - Venice is a city that you have to walk through to appreciate. The hotel staff was very helpful and the breakfast was great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Booked for convenience"
Booked for convenience but enjoyed for the charm and service. Needed to spend our last night in Venice close to the bus station due to early flight out of Marco Polo. The hotel was a pleasant surprise. Nicely appointed. Very comfortable bed. Lovely garden. Very Venician but with modern facilities. The bathroom had beautiful period tile but very modern […] fixtures. "Rain" shower, nice towels. Breakfast was very good, lots of choices. Eggs, bacon, sausage, cereals, pastries, fruit, and more. "Nice affordable Hotel in Venice"
We wanted a Hotel as close to Plazza Roma so we didn't have to haul our suitcases across all the bridges in venice. "Ideal location, lovely hotel"
Very friendly staff. We had a great stay and were endlessly thankful that we only needed to go over one bridge for the airport shuttle and cruise terminal and 2 bridges for the train station. Venice is not a big city but it becomes huge if you have luggage in tow. About a 25 min leisurely and scenic walk to St Marks square and incredibly easy to find […] after a night out with a few glasses of wine (just follow the signs to P. Roma). The hotel is perfect and would be my first choice on our next trip. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient Location near airport bus, etc."
More luxurious than expected, even for our "junior suite" one floor up. Great pastries and abundant good coffee in the included generous breakfast buffet. Urbane, patient, good-humored, and helpful staff at front desk, lobby, and breakfast service. Elevator will hold only about one person and two suitcases. Magnetic room key fob is also electric lights […] switch master key. Within a block's walk of transportation to/from the Piazzale Roma: the people-mover from the cruise ship terminal, the airport bus (and other buses') starting point(s); also, beyond the freestanding "tickets R us" building (down half a flight of stairs and then left) is a major Grand Canal vaporetto stop not on most maps of Venice. (Do buy the 3E map when you get vaporetto tickets at the canal.) Add the distance of one big staircase bridge over the Grand Canal to get to/from the railway station. From the Piazzale Roma, roll your suitcase along the green souvenir kiosks' sidewalk to the sidewalk that goes away from the buses and toward the small canal, then take the staircase bridge that's closest to the small canal. "Convenient for pre-cruise"
We stayed at the hotel prior to our cruise. The hotel is very close to the Piazzale Roma where the airport shuttle bus stops. It was also close to the vaporetto on the Grand Canal to get to all the sights in Venice and the People Mover to get us to the Cruise port. The hardest part of getting to the hotel from the Piazzale Roma was dragging our rolling […] suitcases up and down steps going over the bridge to get to the hotel. The room in the hotel was very small but clean and nice. It was up several flights of stairs with no elevator. The hotel had a porter that took our luggage up for us. The hotel staff was very friendly. We arrived earlier than check-in and they tried to get us into the room as soon as possible after it was cleaned. The free breakfast in the morning was very good. "Not for business"
The good: Great location close to Piazzale Roma, Lot's of restaurants near by, Nice backyard garden to have breakfast, room OK and clean, Front office staff accommodating and friendly, overall OK for the money..........The not so good: no elevator in annex, foul smell in hallway in annex, boxes and other stuff stored on the top of the stairs very messy, […] maintenance details such as room number signs missing at some doors, very poor caulking job in the bathroom, shower flood bathroom floor, shower drain does not drain well at all. Wireless internet access provided, but slow as molasses. OK for a couple of nights stay, for example before or after cruise. Would not recommend for longer stay, or for any business traveler as does not not provide business facilities or sufficient internet speed. I went around the corner to a restaurant that offered free Wi-Fi instead. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Walking distance to major must see sights"
We arrived at Marco Polo, Venice, took the Venezia Aeroporto bus to Piazzale Roma. We got off the bus, and walked about five minutes to the charming hotel which located off the Grand Canal. The concierge was quite pleasant, helpful and informative. We settled in our room and then walked to Rialto Bridge thru many alleys and found ourselves at St. Marco […] Square in the evening & we also purchased a 24-hour Vaporetto water bus tickets. We had an excellent full breakfast in the garden the next morning, walked around town again, and then we walked to the People Mover in early afternoon which took us to the Maritima Stazzione. We followed the sign to our NCL Jade cruise, dropped our luggage, checked in and off we sail to the Mediterranean. We highly recommend Olympia Hotel and will return again in the future. "Great hotel for before/ after cruising"
Super easy to find and so convenient for those starting or ending a cruise. We took the bus from the airport (super cheap) and it was literally just a 5 min walk to the hotel. The train to the port where the cruise liners dock is also in the same place as the buses, so again, it was only a 5 min walk to board the train and go directly to the port which […] was only 1 stop! (also super cheap). The hotel staff were so nice and never hesitated to answer our questions or give advice. The rooms were all air-conditioned - a necessity in their hot summer weather and so nice to return to after a day walking through the hot, crowded streets of the city. The internet in the rooms was also fast and reliable. Breakfast has a good selection of breads, fruits, cereals, cheeses/ cold cuts, bacon and eggs, along with some local delicacies. They also individually served espresso's, cappuccinos and coffees and they had a great selection of teas too. The garden out behind the building was beautiful and made for a relaxing place to sit. Great hotel with good location right by Piazelle Roma. Good for a pre- or post-cruise stay going in or out of Venice - it's basically across the street from the plaza and the People Mover to the port. The garden is beautiful and breakfast is good. Loved this hotel. Was so convenient to piazzaleroma and the cruise ship people mover. Only one bridge to go up and two to go down. We got ther around 9:00am and they already had our room assigned. Previous guests had checked out and it was being cleaned so they said we could wait. We were in the room by 10:00 so we didn't have to leave our bags in the […] lobby -- but even if we had, they were well watched. Use of the printer in the lobby is free which was a surprise. "Darling Hotel, Walkable from Train Station"
This is a wonderful small hotel that you can walk to from the train station. That was our main reason for choosing it. However, there are many other things to recommend it. The hotel has a main building and a second building in the back, separated by a beautiful garden area with grass, flowers, and outdoor seating. Our room was in the back building […] overlooking the garden. It had lovely painted furniture with flower motifs and a murano glass chandelier. It was quite comfortable in every respect. The hotel serves a nice breakfast which you can eat in the breakfast room or out on the patio. There is a small lobby/bar area as well. The hotel fronts on a canal and there are several bars/restaurants in the immediate area. This is not a good choice for people with mobility issues because stairs, a very deep and small tub/shower etc. Also, you have to cross a couple of bridges to get to the hotel and that can be a problem if you are hauling a lot of luggage. The hotel is not in the center of Venice, but it is a short walk to the vaporetto water bus stop which can take you anywhere, and/or a delightful 15 minute walk to San Marco. This was our second stay at the Olimpia. It has style, good service and value. "Great location, watch out fo the steps"
This was a very fine hotel of its class. The staffs' English was very good, and they were very helpful. My room was in an annex to the hotel which did not have an elevator, but this was no problem for me, and the bellman helped bring my bags up stairs. The breakfast was a high point because they had scrambled eggs and a European style bacon on the menu. […] The location is only a short walk from the St. Lucia train station, and can be easily walked to. I wanted to visit the Church of St. Nicolas on the island of Lido. Looking at the map, it seemed that it would be impossible without a car. When I asked at the desk, they were able to give clear instructions on how to take the waterbus over to the island. The cab ride to the church was only 7.80 euros. It was fixed. There is a 20 euro 12-hour pass for the waterbus, and a person may want to consider that if one is moving around Venice. Finally, the downer was the canal bridge to the east of the train station. It does not have a ramp structure, and even though the steps are only 4-5 inches high, one has to carry one's bags up the bridge. Going down, with the small steps is no problem. Watch out for the folks who want to "help" you with your bags. They don't accept "no" easily. If they carry your bag, expect to be hounded by them for a tip. These guys aren't motivated out of charity to help the stranger. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
