Daytime desk clerk Tony was of great help. Hotel was convenient to metro stop which helped greatly in seeing the city. Some decent restaurants also within a block of the restaurant and a gelato shop about 150 ft. from the front door. "DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL...HORRIBLE"
This has to be the WORST hotel I have ever stayed in. First you have to climb very steep stairs with your luggage to even get into the hotel. Then, you have to step down to get in the room, step up to go to the bathroom. The room was very dark and like a dungeon. The room has no dressers, nor drawers. You need to insert your keycard to turn on the lights. […] If your partner goes outside, with the card, you sit in the dark until they reinsert the card. There are no washcloths nor kleenex. There is one little shelf in the bathroom to put toiletries, the rest you have to put on the floor. When I asked how to operate the safe, I was told there was a charge of 1.5 euros a day for the safe. When I asked for some ice, I was given a baggie with 12 individually encased ice cubes which I had to cut out with scissors. The rest laid on the glass top table to melt since I was given no container to put them in. I like a firm bed but this bed was like a concrete slab with some padding on top. Plus, I woke covered in bites of some kind all over my arms. I requested a wake-up call one morning to go on a tour and never received it (luckily I woke up in time). "Very Very nice"
First, my daugfhter and I arrived very late in the evening. We were very hungry, the desk clerk went out of his way to provide something for us to eat and drink, they only serve breakfast here. The room we had was large compared to other hotels we had stayed at., Very clean, bathroom was also larger than usual. The maid service was exceptional. We had […] wet clothes hanging all over the room due to Alitalia's incompetance leaving our luggage on the tarmac uncovered during torrential rains. Any way, she straightened our room, made the baeds and cleaned the bathroom very well. Their italian breakfasts were very nicely laid out, their coffeee bar was great. You do have to climb one long set of stairs to get to the hotel entrance on the second floor, you will get help if you ask. I would not hesitate tostay at this hotel again. By the way two sensational restaurants less than two minute walk away. One roof top to the left as you exit the hotel (VERY GOOD) and one outdoor/indoor restaurant to the left (Strega Restraurant) EXCELLENT. There is all a street side market 2 minutes walk from front door, little but nice. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good location and friendly staff"
The hotel is easy to locate and in a good location, within walking distance to the bus stop and metro station. Rome Termini station is also within walking distance. There are many restaurants close to the hotel. The staff were all very helpful and friendly.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"For the price, spot on!"
The hotel does everything a sightseer will need, and for the price you cannot go wrong. It's brilliantly located, in ge centre of it all and close to all the main transport hubs, and yet a street off the main road so that you are not disturbed by traffic and buses. We stayed in 206, overlooking the Opera Theatre, and the room was perfect for what we […] needed. It's not overly luxurious, but who needs that in a city like Rome? Rooms are basic, spacious, clean, and the staff are friendly and helpful, what more do you need?! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient to main train station (15 min walk)"
Some distance to better quality eating establishments. We are pretty sure our bags were gone through whilst we were away from our room (some tablets not prescription were missing) but passports and other valuable items were left untouched. That said we would consider staying there again and would recommend it.Genuine Expedia guest review
"good Hotel and good location"
This hotel was in a good location for us as it was close to the train station and close to many other attractions . there are allot of stuff to see in Rome so you will still need the bus or tram to travel to some of these attractions. unless you are there for long and don;t mind the walk. breakfast was good and some good optionsGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice hotel near to everything."
Staff very accommodating and friendly , breakfast on time , the room is clean . hotel near to almost everything walking distance to shopping mall and tourist spots.Genuine Expedia guest review
My husband and I stayed at hotel Lirico before and after our cruise. We would highly recommend this clean, well-run hotel, well-located just under 10 minutes walking distance from the train station (termini). We especially appreciated the hospitality of reception staff Tony, Massimo and Michelangelo. If you like walking through the exciting and historical […] streets of Rome, this hotel is between 20-40 minutes from all the main sights, such as the Spanish steps, trevvi fountain (currently under construction) and the colosseum. Many excellent restaurants nearby and lots of fun night life at the Spanish steps. Rooms are clean with plenty of space to unpack for a couple of nights. Very nice breakfast with an assortment of danish, cookies, eggs, cheese, meats, cereal, yogurt, fruit, juices and coffee or tea. When you arrive there is one staircase to navigate with your luggage, but if you go inside to the reception area, they will send someone to help you carry them up. Then there is an elevator to get to your room. The hotel offers good security at night, as well as a safe in each room. The hotel will arrange transportation to the airport, if needed. The fee is €50 (€48 by taxi). We were extremely satisfied with our stay there and would return without hesitation. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We stayed thurs to sun it was perfect! It's just down the road from the train station Termini - so we hopped on the Leonardo Express from the airport straight there in 40mins. It was very easy to find - brilliant staff - ideal location to the hop on hop off bus a fab way to get around all the sights! Slightly further away from the lively bars but there's […] some lovely restaurants near by and a quaint little outdoor bar just down the street! We didn't bother with breakfast at the hotel so can't comment on this, we just prefer to go out and about trying difference places for food without time restrictions so we always opt for room only. Our stay was AMAZING! Definitely recommend this hotel and would go back! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Good central location within 10 minutes walk of the main railway station and bus terminus. The room was comfortable, very clean with good bathroom facilities. The buffet breakfast offered plenty of variety and everything was very fresh. The staff were friendly and helpful. "Lirico hotel, Rome - April 2014."
My wife and I stayed here at the beginning of April, we chose the hotel for its location and price (compared to some hotels in central Rome). The staff were friendly and welcoming (we were the last arrivals of the day) even at 2200h and gave useful information and tips regarding the visit of the main tourist sites. If going up to the Vatican, go early […] as queues can get long and if you want to see St Peter's and the Sistine Chapel (no photos when inside! A lot of Basilicas/chapels/churches are the same as they are places of worship) you will have to queue twice as the entrances are at different locations. If you know which day you will visit this area, pre-book the tickets; there are also lots of touts who are very persistent along with 'street sellers'! When visiting the Colosseum (and not pre-booked tickets) and Capitoline/Forum enter at the Forum as queues are shorter; you can then go straight to the front of the queue at the Colosseum. Tip: wear some comfortable walking shoes, it is the best way of getting around, there are also lots of steps and cobblestones (Rome is old and built on 7 hills!!). We returned to the airport via the bus service from the Termini, it was cheap (4 Euros each); however, it gets full quickly and there is no real orderly queue and the free WiFi on board was a very poor connection. The journey can be noisy so make good use of your iPod! You do get to se parts of Rome that you wouldn't normally see though. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Tourist hotel in a good position near the Termini"
Hotel was very good value. Suited us fine but.. it is on the upper floors of a block and there are about 30 steps up to reception - quite daunting when you arrive latish with heavy suitcase(s). Quite happy though with our experience. Building outside rather dilapidated with bits of facing missing. Ok inside.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Friendly comfortable Hotel in Rome's tourist area"
We stayed for 4 nights in February and the hotel was pretty close to exactly what we required. It was warm, comfortable, (although the beds are a bit hard), and the breakfast was very good- a variety of meats, eggs, cheese, bread rolls, croissants, cereal, fresh fruit, yoghurt, coffe , tea etc. . Pity that the fruit juice on offer was not fresh. The […] staff were friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere relaxed and very pleasant. The rooms we had were comparatively spacious, well decorated, and the bathroom was modern, everything in working order. Access to rooms on floors 2 and 3 is via a lift which only holds 2 people- could be a problem for some people, especially if the hotel is busy. Overall.though, great value, and the location near Termini was excellent - the main tourist sites are all within easy walking distance, and if you want to go further, Termmini station is a short walk away. There are also lots of restaurants of various standards within a few hundred yards. We found all of the ones we tried to be very good. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

PerfectGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I was really happy with my stay at this hotel. I went for a cheap hotel and wasn't really expecting much, I was surprised when I arrived at the quality and the staff were very kind (especially Tony). It's not anything special but they get the basics right. The location is great, a 5 min walk to the main transfer hub of the City where you'll find the […] train station and bus station, the City tour busses start from here as well. In the other direction you've got the Colosseum, this is about 10 or 15 mins walk. There's also a nice choice of different bars a restaurants all within walking distance. The only downsides would prob be the stairs to the main reception, I could handle them so didn't have an issue but the edderley or handicapped may have a struggle, there's approx 15/20 steps and no lift until you arrive in the reception, the only other very picky thing was that the beds are very hard but I did that much walking and climbing to the top of buildings that I was out as soon as I hit the pillow. "Hotel? Or B&B?"
We chose this hotel for a) the price and b) it's location. Everywhere apart from The Vatican was within easy walking distance. Although classed as a hotel in our opinion the Lirico functioned more as a nice B&B (being as breakfast was the only meal it provided) It lacked a lounge or any comfortable public area for guests to meet up etc. Returning one […] afternoon we asked for a cup of tea but were told the "machine was being cleaned" and the staff made no attempt to accommodate their guests with this simple request by putting a kettle on; With no tea-making facilities in the room we therefore had to go back out to a nearby cafe for a cup of tea. We felt this was poor for an establishment calling itself an hotel. Breakfast was adequate but the breakfast room was tiny with the tables extremely close together and it was unable to accommodate more than about 18-20 people maximum and it was very very cramped so I think this would be a massive problem when the hotel is at maximum occupancy. Decor was good quality with fabric wall coverings and good heavy curtains in the room and everything was very clean. Free WiFi was appreciated. Pity the Lirico didn't operate as a 'hotel' but it fulfilled our criteria of being a good price and (for us) a good location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

If you are looking for a hotel centrally located in Rome in this price range, look no further. We spent a week in Rome, staying at Hotel Lirico and were very pleased with our choice. Definitely reccommended. The hotel staff was very helpful with everything we asked and they […] made great suggestions on local restaurants, shopping and things to do. We stayed at Hotel Lirico for 4 nights and we had a wonderful stay. The room was very clean and adequate size for central Rome. The staff were really friendly and attentive. The hotel is easy to find especially from the main train station, its only a 10 minute walk. We would definitely stay here again.Genuine Expedia guest review
A superb hotel in a brilliant location. Had read tripadvisor reports and was a bit concerned by some comments. Different people have different expectations and if you are paying 3 star prices you cannot expect a 6 star hotel. Yes the room was a bit on the small side but that did not matter----if you are in Rome to see the sights you do not spend much […] time in your room!! At check-in asked if we could have a room with a view of Opera House and staff duly obliged. All the staff went out of their way to make our stay special.(They obviously enjoy their work as they were always smiling! ) The location was good. You can walk to all the major attractions, although must admit the Vatican is an hour's walk away and we decided it was a bit too far when we would be spending 3hrs. on a tour. We had a 48 hour Hop on Hop off bus ticket so we made full use of that. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Smelly but close to everything"
The hotel smells funny. It was not a pleasant smell. The hotel is located close to most of the tourist attractions and very close to public transit and the train station. The hotel could invest in some new pillows as ours were as hard as rocks. The shower was broken so it left water everywhere. "Comfortable, quiet & convenient - great value too!"
We chose the Lirico after carefully comparing its situation and facilities with others at a similar price and it turned out to be ideal for our 5-night stay in Rome. Its location, within a short walk of the Termini station and the Repubblica metro, was a plus point, and yet it was also very peaceful, with no disturbance from traffic or from other guests, […] thanks to excellent soundproofing. There was no shortage of dining options nearby at every price level. Our room was spotless, comfortable and a reasonable size, as was the bathroom. The choice at breakfast (included in the price) was excellent: fruit juices, yoghurts, fresh fruit, cereals, rolls & pastries, cold meats, cheeses, eggs, preserves, hot beverages, etc. Even at busy times we found a table available and the staff did a fantastic job of keeping supplies topped up and clearing tables. Hotel staff overall couldn't have been more helpful, offering us a city map on arrival and making suggestions for eating nearby. On the day of our departure they stored our suitcases ready for collection at our convenience and they even carried them down to the entrance for us without being asked. All in all, the Lirico turned out to be a great choice for our stay in Rome. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Disappointed despite its high rating on the review"
There were hairs on the bed sheets and blankets (house keepers didn't clean the rooms well), some of the bath equipments were already opened and used and not being changed to a new one, rooms are not comfortable because it's so very narrow. There is a long steps before you enter the hotel so it is definitely not for elderly or handicapped guests, elevators […] only takes two persons maximum (guided by receptionists), and our room telephone was not convenient: buttons of the digits were covered by a layer of plastic that was hard to be removed so we couldn't use the telephone. "Misleading hotel information"
The picture on the website is not that of the hotel! It is the building next door. So we had difficulty in finding the hotel. The hotel is extremely small and has a lot of unexpected stairs going to the reception. The room was extremely small and the shower was for children no more than 40kg as any other person more than 40kg cannot get out of the shower. […] The doors are too close together and it is hard to squeeze out. The room is very very very small. The breakfast was not what one would call a decent breakfast for the rate paid. Will not stay here again. The hotel charges for the safe deposit box within the room. You pay to protect yourself from their own staff. A lot of things did not make sense at this hotel.
