Response by Sheraton Montevideo Hotel Muito obrigada por escrever a respeito do nosso hotel!
We stayed at Sheraton Montevideo for the first time, it was all right, rooms were clean and spacious. The only minus comes from breakfast, which was not included in the room price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Sheraton Montevideo Hotel Dear Katja, Thank you very much for writing a review about us. Our main objective is to accomplish and exceed the expectations of our guests, and we are glad to hear that your stay with us was a pleasant one. We are sorry about the breakfast, but many guests prefer to not have it. So it is fair to charge only if you are going to have it. We hope to see you here on your next visit to Montevideo.

No geral, o hotel é bom!

"great location, noticeable diminishing services"

"Best place to stay in Montevideo"
03/30/15 Camiladsg Sao Paulo, SP
I just love this hotel... The rooms are really quiet, beautifully clean and with great river views... Love the city views from the swimming pool. Being attached to the best mall of the city also helps a lot. The breakfast is great but too crowded even during regular days.
"Does the job "

Stayed for 3 nights earlier this week for business in a Club level room - the rooms were clean and comfortable - not 5 star but not bad either. Convenient location for the old town and some great local restaurants. Only disappointment was that even with a club level room you had to pay for wifi. The club lounge only offered anything to eat or drink between 6 and 7.30 - you couldn't even get a soft at any other time... All in all I would definitely stay again
"Good Hotel to stay in Montevideo"
I stayed for 1 night here, the hotel has 26 floors and its located next to a shopping centre and the river to walk. What i have to recommend you is not to pay for the club lounge as it only serves snacks from 6.30 pm to 8 and it was a total dissapointment. The hotel breakfast was also bad in my opinion as the plates took long to be replaced, and there was lack of food options. Anyway, the hotel rooms and view are very nice.
"Drab hotel with zero charm"
03/21/15 judy77 Paris, France
Grim hotel with very little charm. Our room was in shades of beige and grey and maybe acceptable but surprisingly their bathroom products smelt absolutely terrible. We went out and bought our own soap, to avoid having to live with the smell of theirs. We dined in their restaurant on the night we arrived as we were too tired to go out. The waiters made mistakes and served us the wrong dishes for both our entrée and main course. When the right dishes did arrive the food was very average. The dining room was unattractive and nearly empty.. Breakfast, which was included in our room rate, was a disgrace. We could not leave this hotel quickly enough..

A decent hotel, well located within walking distance from the beach. A bit dated interior, but pleasant staff. Room was quite large and clean. Overall not a bad place to stay but nothing to write home about
"Typical Business Hotel"
03/08/15 bderk Wichita, Kansas
The room was fine, about what you would expect of from 3-4 star business hotel. Only ate in the restaurant once (lunch). Food was good though service slow. There is a very small bar area in the lobby with littleambiance.
"Tired rooms, Tired Staff, Tired Guests!!"
03/05/15 38allovertheplace Ashburn, Virginia
Tired Rooms- There were several areas of the walls, ceilings, and seams that revealed stains and evidence of current or previous leaks. Outlets in the walls were loose to the point they were falling out of the walls with exposed wires. Furniture was very worn and the safe was totally inoperable. The amenities were the same you would find in any Sheraton and I was disappointed to see the inflated prices on everything in US dollars. The biggest issue I had was the stains that were very visible on the comforter, I informed the front desk and after housekeeping service the large stain was gone only to find new blood stains on my "fresh" sheets. Tired Staff- Front desk check in was disorganized and only one of the three clerks seemed to know what they were doing. Internet was free and the included breakfast was very sparse. One thing of note was the charge for the place setting in the restaurant, we sat one day to have a cold drink only to find an excessive inflated bill, this was a "service charge" for a place setting. This sort of practice is just not necessary for a large hotel chain. Tired Guests- The rooms have nothing. No iron, no ironing board and worst off no coffee/tea. There is not even any instant coffee with a hot water pot. Now if I could go to the lobby and have some coffee with a return to my room then I might be able to overlook this but no dice. You want coffee? you guessed it go to the restaurant with a sitting fee!! Location- great location. Connected to the mall/stores with a grocery store, easy walk to shore/beach/park area. There are many other options when staying in Montevideo and I would choose those.
"Problems plagued my stay"
03/01/15 breeze410 Baltimore, Maryland
My feelings about this Sheraton are decidedly mixed. It is definitely not a five-star hotel, although it bills itself as one. My stay got off to a bad start. The hotel knew to expect us by 2:00pm; they had our flight number and had arranged transportation from the airport. Our international flight was delayed by over an hour and we did not arrive at the hotel until 3:30pm. Even with the extra time, our rooms were still not ready. My room was not ready until 5:00pm, but nothing was offered to ameliorate this situation. I would expect this if I had arrived before 2:00pm, but rooms not available after the check in time is unacceptable. At the very least I would have appreciated a free drink (or bottle of water) at the bar, but nothing was offered. The room itself was fine -- decently clean, if a bit worn around the edges. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was clean. Generally, the people who worked the front desk were very good. They all spoke impeccable English, or were happy to reply in Spanish (though mine was rusty). The problems arose when I called the front desk for help from my room. My worst experience was being woken up by extremely loud banging noises at 5:00am nearly every morning of my stay. These noises did not subside, but would continue for nearly three hours. When I called to complain the first time, the front desk told me that others had complained, and they were looking into the problem. The next day, when I called to complain at 5:00am, they seemed irritated with me, and informed me that the noise was coming from construction at the attached mall, and there was nothing they could do. No offer to move me to another room, no offer to ameliorate the situation, just deal with it. Not being able to sleep on a business trip is a problem. Also, I had to make multiple calls over several hours to get someone to help with a minor plumbing problem in my bathroom. Definitely not five-star service. On the other hand, the staff who handled and stored luggage were exceptional. They were always ready to help, always with a smile. Five stars for them! Breakfast was good; wifi was reliable and strong. The other fantastic experience at the Sheraton was the check-out process. I had an extremely speedy check-out, even with paying for incidentals on a separate credit card than the room. This was truly one of the most seamless hotel check-outs I have ever experienced. The Sheraton is located in a safe neighborhood with many excellent restaurants within walking distance.
On a recent stay in Montevideo, myself and two companions had the pleasure of meeting Marcello and Gonzalo, the bartender and concierge respectably at the Sheraton Montevideo. Marcello was a marvelous bartender as well as conversationalist. We spent many hours talking and laughing with him. (He also makes a supurb Rob Roy!) Gonzalo, the concierge, worked with us for almost an hour to secure seats on the Buquebus(the ferry) over to Buenos Aires. He researched the schedule, took all our credit info, and booked our trip. All very professionally done and with a smile! If staying in Montevideo, the Sheraton is the place! Keith Greiner, Long Island, NY
"Good location, but my former favorite turns into a dated place "
I have been bringing my teams to this hotel for a number of years whenever we visit Montevideo on an up to quarterly basis. The hotel is neatly located, with the Punta Caretas Mall conveniently attached, the Rambla just down the road, good restaurants within walking distance and in a safe neighborhood. However, this hotel has not undergone modernization for a far too long while. Rooms and corridors are worn, and so is the gym. Outdated entertainment options and communication and internet access options are below contemporary standards. The breakfast offers way too little value for its considerable price, with anemic fruit and little other whole food options. Rooms are frequently not ready despite afternoon arrival, have been overdosed with Febreze, and are not necessarily well cleaned. Lingering tobacco smoke in corridors also moves into non-smoking rooms. Starwood status privileges are not well honored and/or strangely interpreted (e.g. a bottle of beer on the desk upon arrival to the room?) While formerly one of my favorites, the hotel does not any longer appear to be tightly managed. While I could tolerate the maintenance deficiencies, service quality at the Sheraton Montevideo is degrading notably and makes me consider existing alternative options in the same neighborhood for upcoming team visits to the city. Front desk staff try their very best to keep guests happy, but cannot make up for the overall subpar experience.
