Our stay at the Courtyard Marriott in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter was absolutely wonderful from the moment we arrived. The front desk staff were remarkably friendly and helpful, providing us with an excellent room and useful tips during our one-week stay. The room was spacious and clean with a beautiful view, a large bathroom, and no noise from the neighbors. Fresh coffee is available in the room or in the front lobby every morning. Internet access is free on fast computers in the lobby. The bar has a great happy hour every evening, and the restaurant offers delicious meals. The building itself is spectacular, with the original bank vaults in the basement near the gym and laundry room. This hotel made our stay in San Diego memorable and delightful, and we will definitely stay here in the future.

This hotel used to be an old bank, so there's an art deco bank aesthetic that is very cool. The front desk is behind teller windows, that kind of thing. It's a great location, but there were a few things that you should be aware of. First, there is only paid valet parking, at $24 a night. Ouch. The temperature controls in the room wouldn't go below 72 degrees, which may have been fine where the thermostat was, but on the other side of the room it was a bit warm. My room was pretty noisy, it sounded like aircon machinery outside, and it was all night. That all said, I'd still stay there again. Great location and great decor.

Converted bank building led to some quirky amenities (a bathroom in an old bank vault) and floor configurations, but didn't detract at all from the stay. Rooms were all comfortable (especially hte large beds) and wired internet access worked well in the rooms. WiFi only in the lobby/bar. On the north end of the Gaslamp District, it was close to most things (restaurants, Horton Plaza, 15-minute walk to Convention Center). Neighborhood to the north had some sketchy elements to it, but never felt at risk or in danger. Would recommend easily to travelers of all types, but those wary of street noise should stay away from the first floor/mezzanine.

Nothing special about this hotel. Looks like they spend tons renovating the lobby and meeting rooms but went cheap when doing the rooms. Rooms are extremely small with a very small bathroom. No more than 2 people can fit in a room. Any more and you'll be bumping elbows. The price of the hotel is also steep. I'm sure there's better deals out there. The only thing outstanding about this hotel is it's location in the gaslamp district if you plan on going out there at night. Otherwise, stay elsewhere.

The lobby is grand and imposing, yet warm. And the historic touches don't take away from all the modern frills like the flat screen TV, the showers with great water pressure, and the cushy mattresses! I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to San Diego.

This was an awesome hotel. Right in the heart of the gaslamp district, down the street from the Horton Plaza Mall. Everything is in walking distance (Restaruants, bars, shops). Parking was a hair pricey, but better than the public prices. The building is a historic landmark, so it was very elegent. Not too mention the very friendly staff. Our bell boy even got us on the guest list for the best club in town. I highly recommend this place if you are looking to have fun, and not want to drive.

The title says it all. Beautiful hotel with in walking distance to any type of restaurant you could imagine. The nicest staff I've ever come across. Let them tell you where to eat, you'll be amazed. One small issue with the room. Even though we ran the A/C constantly, the room always felt stuffy. The windows are locked shut so no fresh air could circulate. Other than that, I'd stay here again and again! Just remember, if you valet park, call down from your room 10 minutes before you want your car.

Everyone was very attentive and even room service called back to make sure every thing was ok. i was extremely satisfied with the service. I just would not stay here again because it is overpriced and it is a cold place. not a lot of ambience.

We decided to valet park because it was New Years Eve, and all the parking lots were probably full and expensive. The warm greetings we received from Yashon at the front desk made our stay so pleasant. He quickly checked us in and gave us the option of a couple of rooms. Although the room was slightly smaller than your usual hotel room, it was nice, clean, and comfortable. We ordered a couple of champaigne glasses which came just after we entered our room. Talk about quick! Front desk called shortly afterthat to see if we received our glasses. The location was so ideal. We did a quick stroll right into the Gas Lamp district. So simple, especially if you're going to be drinking. We would definitely recommend this place to people on a budget but want the convenience of the nightlife. The only disadvantage was retrieving your car from valet, it took around 15 minutes.
