Great hotel. Very nice staff. Near China town in Manchester, walkable to Town Hall and Oxford St station. Fantastic bathroom with a great shower. Could be somewhat noisy at night with street traffic, but room was large and very comfortable, I would definitely stay here again.

Excellent hotel and excellent service, especially for what one pays. Beautifully renovated rooms. The staff actually respected the "do not disturb sign" and deposited a pile of towels and refills for coffee etc in front of the door - this was greatly appreciated. Many good restaurants (mostly asian) and pubs in the area.

Had a brief, pleasant stay there. The room was cozy and comfortable, and the bathroom was really nice. The hotel's interior is generically modern, which was surprising given that it's housed in a pretty, older building. The location is convenient: in walking distance from the train station and most of Manchester's major neighborhoods. A lovely hotel, within easy walking distance to Manchester centre and China town on the doorstep. We were there for 2 nights. Staff could not do enough for you, and went out of their way to acknowledge you. One complaint, we couln't fit the bed in our suitcase to take home (it was so comfortable).

What a great hotel - the whole package. Staff was incredibly helpful and courteous. Very pleasant stay. They are wrapping up a major renovation and they were excellent about keeping guests out of the way as much as is possible. Great room, lovely soft bed, nice bathroom. Friendly and helpful service at reception and at dinner and breakfast. Tasty and well-prepared dinner and breakfast. Location is Manchester city centre and on a main road - so it's not ideal for a peaceful retreat - but a very good venue which I would enjoy staying at again!!

Very modern room and a .very good bathroom with an excellent shower and a very comfortable bed The downside was the very dim lighting throughout making it impossible to read in the bedroom and see youself in the bathroom mirror when shaving. The townhouse is a hotel that has been made over in line with the better McDonald hotels. There is no car parking which may be a problem for some, but NCP options are close by. One thing to consider - whilst it is a convenient city location, it is surrounded by a number of bars. I think my room was opposite a Chinese Karaoke bar, which went on until past 1am in the morning. If you are looking for a quiet city hotel - this perhaps is not quite the one.

Reasonably priced and great quality, staff attentive without being overbearing. Room well specced and little touches like free ice or fresh milk from room service on demand were much appreciated. Wifi was free and straight on without any faffing about with passwords.

Large corner plot in very central area. Fairly swift reception and check in. Only real fault was the darkness of the bedroom. It was very difficult to see with only three moderately bright lights in the main room. A design mistake I suspect. Other than that, nothing amazing but a good, solid hotel.

We had an amazing stay at the Macdonald Townhouse. We were going to an event at the Manchester Arena and chose this hotel for the location. It was easy to find and although there is no parking linked to this hotel, there is a "Q" car park across the road, which you can use at a discounted rate due to being a guest at the hotel. Stayed in the MTH several times on both business and pleasure when in Manchester. This visit was somewhat fleeting but found the small room very cold despite setting heating/aircon to maximum. Then found the shower uncontrollable (either scalding hot or off altogether) so much so that the steam created in the chilly room set off the smoke alarm! The standard double beds are really squashy mattresses, the absolutely minimal double size beds mean that with 2 people you can but sleep on the edge, with the edge squashing down you are liable to find yourself on the floor - happened to my father-in-law on the first night. The noise around the hotel is definitely a problem, the nightclub at the back […] and a stop light on the front side mean that buses and trams are noisy accelerating away from the lights. Very happy with my stay; only wished it could have been longer! Great black out curtains allowed for a pleasant lie-in but was disturbed twice by noise of the glass recycling bins being emptied, seemingly just below my window. Only a minor issue though! Apart from that the room was quiet and very comfortable and I loved the luxurious bathroom!

booked an excutive double only to find it was two single beds pushed together ! Shower is tiny can only just fit a fully grown man ! when i complained about the bed was moved but not the standed I expected. Single bottle of water for two adults ? might seem petty but it's the small things that impress people !

The hotel was very clean and well maintained. The room was spacious and the bathroom was very well equipped with both a bath and shower. The bed was comfortable and although the TV setup was a little out of date that was of no real concern to me as we only put it on while getting reading in the morning. The bar seemed nice although we didn't get a chance […] to have a drink or a meal downstairs having left our friends there and needing to move on elsewhere when we came back to them. The staff were friendly and efficient albeit perhaps trying a little too hard (it felt a little embarrassing) but that is being very picky.
