"two great days"
Terrific room, great restaurants and nice history.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Excellent location, great hotel, great staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My husband and I stayed here for a birthday trip. Super location - right in the middle of everything. Our room was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The front desk staff, housekeepers and bell staff were very pleasant and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Sleeping Room Only"
We stayed in a King size room. Our room was small. We barely had room to have our suitcases in the same room as us. Every time we opened the bathroom door we hit a suitcase. The location of the room was as disappointing. We shared a wall with the gym which meant that we woke up as early as the first dedicated person in the gym which was usually around […] 7:30 am. We could hear the treadmill and other machines. If you are going to hang mostly in town and only sleep in your room, this is the hotel for you. If you are looking for luxury, you may want to do somewhere else. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Females @ front desk need courtesy training"
We were there with family for a much needed spring break vacation;although check in time was a late 4:00 pm, our room was not ready when we arrived. The 2 female desk clerks were not that friendly and did not seem to have a sense of urgency about helping us secure our room. We were not offered the standard "warm cookie" at check in and with the parking […] situation, our car was parked with all our luggage and had to be called back around when the room was ready about a half hour later. I've stayed at this hotel before and definitely saw a decline in service, especially for the extremely high cost of the room. They were doing maintenance to the lobby bathrooms the whole time we were there which again was a major inconvenience. The best thing about the hotel is it's location in the center of town and proximity to all the action. That is the only reason I'd recommend because you don't have many options for a room with space in the area. Also the valet guys were great but $22/day for parking is absurd! "How Much?? Really??"
For the price, there are better options....tack on the parking costs as well.....the location is fantastic....not so the room we were in which was relatively small and had a view of the backside of the parking deck...so much for an evening balcony drink.....and not that it was that big of a deal, but upon checkout, they had added a one dollar per night […] Charleston Ploice Department contribution......had to ask to have it adjusted......seemed a bit presumptuous to me...... "In the heart of Charleston"
This hotel is clean, beautifully decorated and has a kind and helpful staff. It is located right at Market Street and the room we were in (298) had a nice view of Market St. The beds were very comfortable and the warm cookie upon arrival was a nice treat. Be warned however that there are loud party goers who stay up very late and can be raucous and […] may keep you up at night. The valet/bell hops are very knowledgeable and can assist with parking and luggage handling. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Walls way to thin"
I had to change rooms because the walls are too thin. You can hear everything your neighbors say and do. Just wanted to relax but it was way too loud in the room do to noisy, loud neighbors with kids and really into sports. Second room was fine for a minute until babies were yelling all night! For 300 a night the rooms are way to small too and there […] is no pool. The only good thing I liked about it was its location. Right next to the market. If you don't have kids and want a relaxing stay do not stay at the doubletree. Find a bed and breakfast! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great (but noisy) Location"
This hotel is in a fantastic downtown location- unfortunately that means a LOT of noise from the street. There is a ton of foot traffic making noise at all hours and the incredibly loud street cleaner came through every morning at 4am to scrub Market Street. The room was clean and comfortable. Our toilet overflowed the first evening of our stay, but […] it was fixed promptly. The valet gentelmen were very quick and friendly- our experience with the concierge was not as positive. I would not recommend staying here unless you are on the top floor away from the noise of Market Street. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Best for Firm Bed Fans"
Bed was VERY firm & outside noise made it difficult to get a good night's rest.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was OK at best. The fact that the work out room was not open until 8am was very odd. It made working out a challenge. Also, I guess I had hoped it would be a full service hotel with a real restaurant and pool but I was wrong.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Hotel with tiny cleaning issues"
We really liked the hotel. First of all its in a perfect location. The market is right around the corner. The ocean is only few minutes walking disance away and we even got lucky and saw so many dolphins so close ... Amazing ;-) anyway the staffs were super friendly and very helpful. Loved the inside of the hotel but we think its a lil overprized because […] for the amount you pay for one night there shouldnt be any hair on the bathroom floor and no broken walls or anything like that, it has to be perfect! But thats our opinion. Would still recommend it a 100%. Valet parking worked out great as well also the barkeeper inside the hotel was super friendly and talkative and interested what people had to say. :) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great deal for your money at the center of town"
Great staff, great rooms and reasonable prices at the center of town.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great location, etc. One issue: Valet parking is necessary at roughly $25.00/day.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
If you're looking for a swanky hotel that's right downtown, look no further. Right price, right place. And the bed was super comfy. Huge bathroom. My only complaint is the parking. Parking is valet only and costs around $20 a day. But the hotel itself is great.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great trip/great hotel"
We had a great experience at the Doubletree. It started with the valet and continued thru the entire stay from the front desk to the wait staff. Everyone was attentive to our needs and questions and did everything to make us feel at home.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great location !Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was wonderful...service was great, room was great, food was great...I have no negative comment except for the parking. I was thankful for the convenience of the valet and in reading other reviews I was expecting to have to pay $11 a day for the parking and was prepared for that but when we got our final bill at check-out we were charged $22 […] a day. That was a shock - I think all that needs to be disclosed up front when you make your reservation. Overall though it was a very pleasant weekend and convenient to everything as the market was just across the street. We will definately stay here in the future. What you would expect. Great location, particularly for restaurants or walking through historic neighborhoods. I was there on business and was frustrated that the "free wireless" rarely worked and when it did it was so slow I couldn't even check email.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We had a lovely time in Charleston. We enjoyed being able to walk to dinner and breakfast and even got to peruse the market and pick up some pecan pralines at a nearby bakery. When my son forgot his favorite stuffed animal in the hotel room, it was kindly mailed to our home address at no charge.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent Location and Nice Hotel"
We would stay here again as the hotel was very nice and our room was like a small apartment for a reasonable price. Everything we needed was within walking distance. A word of caution: we booked our hotel and were shown extra fees after we were billed and parking can be expensive in the area. Service was excellent and they give you awesome chocolate […] chip cookies on arrival. We would stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Room smelled of new paint and charged seperate for wifi computer and an I Pad, $10 each, won't go backGenuine Expedia guest review
Smaller king room is really small. Book the larger king. It's worth it. There is a newer wing with king rooms that are nicer with big bathroom. Staff were friendly and very helpful.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"OK if sleep is not important"
I gave comfort only a 2 because: 1- Noise. Our room (and many) overlook the hotel courtyard where loud, boisterous partiers yelled and sang well past 11:00 PM. It was loud enough that we could not sleep until they finished. On the first night, I called the front desk to complain and the person I spoke with said he would inform the manager. Nothing changed. […] The next night was the same but we were out later and went to bed later, so we were only bothered a shorter time. If you need a hotel where the reasonable expectation of a quiet room in which to sleep is more important than the drunks' right to yell and sing into the night, this may not be the hotel for you. Upon checkout, the clerk asked if my stay was comfortable. I brought up the above. He nodded knowingly and said it had to do with holiday parties. I bet it's anytime they host some kind of party. Also, the hot water situation was not great. I took 10 minutes to get anything better than lukewarm water to the shower both mornings. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Four star suite for the price of a four star room"
We recently booked a room last minute in the historic district. Checking out various websites for pricing and reviews, the DoubleTree seemed like a great value and did not dissappoint. Each suite offers a living/kitchenette, bedroom and full bath. All were clean and well appointed.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was in a great location for shopping and dining. Our room was very spacious and the bedding was extremely comfortable. We found the bathroom tub and shower needed a little maintenance. We would definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Overall a good place.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great hotel, great staff, great location. Very pleasedGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I paid for a larger room which was not very "large" at all. The section of the hotel we stayed in was referred to as the "executive" building...had to walk through a courtyard to get there, the rooms need updating and was a little noisy (both guests and the plumbing). Location of the hotel was very good however for the price I would look elsewhere.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great in some respects, not so in others"
Would I stay there again? Yes! Staff was terrific. The only gripe I have is that the suites had couches that look like they came from a 2nd hand store. They were not all that clean and very worn. Carpets looked somewhat in need of cleaning, but that could have been due to age and wear. All in all, nice place to stay and very convenient!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Great Place to Stay"
We spent a weekend in Charleston and stayed at the Double Tree. The hotel was connveniently located and walking distance to great restaurants, market street, shops and much, much more. The staff at the front desk were very helpful and the bartender recommended great places to eat. If you're looking for a great deal at a reasonable price, Double Tree […] is a great choice. "Just offering constructive criticism."
We were there for four nights. The card on our bed said they would change our bed after 3 nights - It was changed 3 times. It said to save washing towels, etc by hanging them up and they would not replace them, but putting them on the floor if we wanted fresh ones - They took used towels off of the racks and replaced them every day except our first […] morning. To me the sheets and towels being replaced is such a waste of water, time spent to wash, fold, and replace them. No wonder it costs so much there. You can stay at some hotels and get a free breakfast, free bottled water for about 1/4 of your cost. Elizabeth was very accomodating and did as your card said, she did not replace the linens and towels. She was only there after our first night. She is a jewel and so pleasant and nice. The other days, the maids didn't even speak to us. When we came back in our room in the afternoon, the thermostat was set on 63. Freezing. There again you could save money!
