I expected much more from a double tree hotel. We had possible the worst stay ever in a hotel. It started off with the a terrible diner in their restaurant, burnt baked potatoes, poor quality vegetables, the entree was a joke for the price and it took three try’s to order a bottle of wine they actually had from their wine list. I don’t mind paying $18 to $25 dollars per entrée but it has to be good, this food was horrible. I’m serious when I say we would have had better food at standard family type restaurant. I made my reservations well in advance and the hotel was far from booked when we arrived but they put us in a room next to the pool! Why would you put anyone next to the pool unless they requested it our booked late and that’s all that was left! There was some kind of wild pool party with kids running up and down the halls, slamming doors, screaming and shouting. When I called the front desk at 10pm to complain and request another room I was told they did not have any of the same type available and I would have to give up the kink bed for two queens. The next morning when I spoke to the hotel manager I was told they had plenty of other rooms and did not know why I was told otherwise. Oh it gets better, when we first arrived at the hotel the valet parking attendant told me before he parks my car it would be ten dollars to park(fine I new that already)so I pay him to park plus a tip. When checking out I noticed a ten dollar parking fee charged to my credit card! Even though the manager did refund my credit card it seems they also have a thief parking cars!

The hotel and my room were very clean. In room bathroom was about the smallest I've ever seen in a hotel, but surprisingly the small size didn't prevent it from being functional. I had a problem at check in because the computers were down and I was checked into an already occupied room. The manager made it up with a complimentary dinner. The hotel restaurant food is not bad although the menu is limited. Rooms along the front of the hotel and Ludlow St can be noisy due to the occasional passing bus or siren. The nearest restaurant is the Spaghetti Factory three blocks away. Overall nice comfortable hotel with a good location.

Positives: Great hotel/room! Room was nice and tighty, beds were comfortable, view of city was nice. Hotel had a great exercise room, sauna, pool, and a jacuzzi. Front desk was very helpful and courteous. Room service was delicious. Negative: Had to pay $10 per night to valet park (only other option was to park car unattended on the streets and pay the meters). We were placed in a smoking room (since neither of us are smokers, not sure how that happened); luckily, in the room, besides the ashtray, no way to tell. In hallway and in elevator area on our floor, reeked of cigarettes! Yuck. Hotel may want to think of deodorizors in the common areas. Was charged for their continental breakfast; however, we stayed at a 2 1/2 star 3 months ago, and their's was complimentary. And lastly, the pool was awesome; however, temperature had to be above 90 degrees. Not a pool to swim laps in...you were already breaking a mild sweat just relaxing.

The hotel staff was wonderful. Although there was a twix wrapper behind the night table. We were on the sixth floor and the only floor with a vending machine or ice machine was the 7th and the hallways were like mazes. Bathroom was small, toilet behind the door. The whole 7th floor smelled of chlorine from the pool. Other than that the stay was very comfortable. Should have been a little cheaper. But otherwise good place to stay.

Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Jun 17, 2009
Never before would I have considered myself the type of person who would leave a hotel in the middle of the night. This hotel changed all that. Was it the 20 minute wait for my car from the valet? Was it the malfunctioning air conditioning which was fixed by placing a fan in front of the unit? Was it the 2 fire alarms in the middle of the night? It was all these factors and many more. I travel many times a year and I will never again stay at a Doubletree. They charged for everything and the experience was not worth it. I ended up spending a night in my car before I could find another hotel, and that was a better experience than staying here.

Of the two hotels downtown The Doubletree was the best. All though I have stayed here before, the level of service has dropped. The front desk attentiveness to the guest was subpar. The lobby seemed gloomy and not bright and lively. The valet service was good but the appeareance of the employees doesnt really give you a feeling that your car will be safe. I chose to park on the street.

The most important thing to me about a hotel is the bed. The Doubletree had one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in! This makes the hotel OUTSTANDING! The service was wonderful, the room was clean, and the price was excellent. It's location was minutes away from everything we did. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone!!

The hotel overall was fairly nice. I enjoyed the location. I was a little disappointed for the fact that besides street parking, you had to valet park inside the garage. I usually don't feel comfortable with someone else driving or having the keys to my car. Other than that, it was a nice experience.

The only problems I had with the hotel were a few small maintenance issues with the room. The desk chair had an arm that was half falling off, and the head-board on the bed came looseand fell down a few inches (although I can't completely blame the hotel for that one). The service was very nice and they had valet parking.

They sent up a fan as a remdy, which just circulated HOT air (since the windows are not able to be opened. The light on my bedstand did not work and I was unable to read in bed, I reported it and it took three days to fix it. The face-bowl in the bathroom had a drain that was not suited for the wall..when you pulled up on the stopper.. it ran into the wall, thertherefore, you could not fill the facebowl with water.
