Stayed here for a wedding. Beautiful historic hotel with fantastic views for the ocean from the bar and dining room! They upgraded our room without asking and our room had a view of the beach as well as the Santa Monica Pier with the Ferris Wheel and all. Our room even had a tin toy replica of the Ferris Wheel. The service is efficient, polite and helpful. Any room service request was complied within 2 minutes to 15 minutes, and with a smile. The whole of the staff were exceptionally guest-oriented and ready to please. The rooms are quiet, comfortable and very clean. Hotel is gorgeous and right on the beach, with great beach view bar. Only problem was that after paying an astronomical amount for a basic room, there was an unprecedented noise level. We couldn't tell what but it sounded like heavy machinery and crashing upstairs or nearby, we agreed it was akin to trying to sleep in a bowling alley. Some noise through […] the day but worst at night. I've stayed in hotels the world over and am accustomed to standard hotel noise (elevators, maids next door banging around, doors shutting, etc). This was not even in the realm of normal - with my earplugs AND white noise maker, it was still intolerably loud and we asked to move. Turns out there was a kitchen right across the hall that was largely responsible. And the fact that the person at the desk acted surprised by our complaint? Give me a break - there is absolutely no way they aren't aware of that situation and are just hoping we don't complain. We were promptly moved upstairs. So if you stay here, and it was otherwise lovely, make sure to request a non-basement level room or you will regret it! Read more

The Casa Del Mar is a beautiful hotel with a professional staff located in a fantastic area of LA that allows visitors to enjoy the entire coastal region. Me and my boyfriend had a wonderful time, we also had dinner at Catch resturant in the hotel. We like their service , even the door man is very nice.But the only thing I have to mention is: the spa. We had an hour massage call "duet by the sea" , very nice soft music, aroma,champagne, and the person do our massage were so perfessional, ( because we […] do massage every week) But, the lady there incharge the spa, she did not turn on the power for the steam room , before we arrived, so she ask us to wait for 10 mins, for the steam room, we need to be on time for our massage appointment, we only have about 10 mins, for taking a quick shower and a short steam, this is no way that we can wait for the steam room, so I just no shower, no steam before the massage, my boyfriend still want a short shower, when I was sitting in the waiting room enjoy the music and champagne, the lady told me , the spa will be closed on 6pm, I was superise, our appointment is 4:30-5:30 , so we only have 30 mins. for shower and relax in the waiting room for champagne?? All after this, when I finish massage and a quick shower , I can't find hair dryer in the lady's room, so I went out with wet hair to ask her for it, than she got it from outside of the lady's room. this is all about in spa, we have a good time but something needs to be improve I think. Room very clean but giant wad of hair in drain of tub. Encouraged me to take a shower. :( The next morning the service of the hotel was so slow it was worth mentioning. The service at happy hour and dinner was very good.

I thought this hotel was beautiful and very clean! I only had two minor concerns. The first was that the surrounding neighborhood didn't seem that beautiful for such a beautiful hotel, however it was still safe and there was a lot to do. Second, the restaurant was delicious, but VERY pricey! Overall, awesome stay!

for a world traveler like me, finding a hotel close by where I actually live, is a challenge. I live in a little paradise called Santa Barbara and when I have business appointments in Los Angeles, I want to have at least the comfort I have at my own home. I knew Casa del Mar because of it's great bar scene and restaurant but never stayed there. I was […] very pleasantly surprised. The staff is wonderful and very helpful, the general feel of the hotel is modern but not temporarily hip. It feels like it will last and still "hang with the crowds of celebrities" and fun people. My room was located on the 7th floor and had an amazing view over the city, without the noise of the traffic, as it's location is on a tiny little side street by the beach. I felt instantly at home, the room was unusually specious and large but now here comes the downfall: It was right backing up to the elevator housing and all I heard all day and night were elevators going up and down.... sold out, I tried to change but had gotten the last room. Alas, I guess this was the price to pay to stay there... but they should have given me a discount and warned me before. I will try another room in the future! I loved it anyways. But had bags under my eyes the next day for my meeting as I did not been rested well at all. Read more

Location is amazing and the staff is very friendly and aside from a bit of stuffy attitude from the front desk staff, they were very friendly and down-to-earth. Two complaints: 12 bucks a day for slow internet / wifi connection? Ridiculous. I can get free wifi at Motel 6. And […] Casa del Mar's wifi kept cutting out on me. 34 bucks a day for parking is crazy, but I paid it. service in restaurant was non-existant. the waiter forgot orders and then disappeared for 15 minutes. There was not one person on the floor to wait on the six or seven tables occupied. pool gets crowded quickly and service was extremely slow. Other than that, Casa is a class act.

Very nice building, fantastic bar and dining, nice rooms. Staff were not as great as I thought. Barely saw any, took too long to get car from Valet. I stayed in The Viceroy the following week which was FAR more exceptional, the personal service is great and it is only one block from Casa Del Mar and better priced.

In essence, this hotel is really a very nice 3.5 star hotel. Though the decorations, paint, and furnishings are all very new and modern, one cannot escape the smell of mold and mildew throughout the hotel since, it would appear, the building itself is nearly 100 years old. This definitely detracts from the overall experience in a big way. Moreover, […] the service at the hotel varied hugely based upon whom you were dealing with. Some employees were extremely friendly and helpful, while others were very short and irritated by requests or questions, and still others were flat-out rude (especially when it became apparent that you were not a "high roller"). On the whole, the price I paid was easily double the value I received (which is probably being generous to the hotel). The neighborhood is populated with homeless and vagrants, and the sale of every imaginable touristy item inundates the environment. Several "medical marijuana" storefronts are within 1 mile of the hotel on the beach boardwalk. To say that the element in the area pretty much overruns the entire area would be an understatement. Standing on the hotel's pool balcony (overlooking the beach boardwalk and the beach), within a 15 minute time period I personally witnessed two different people (one male and one female - not affiliated with one another) urinate in public on the grass next to the boardwalk. I would have been much better off staying at a "high-end" hotel in downtown Los Angeles, versus this highly questionable area with a has-been hotel dropped into it. Read more

We went for first trip without our little one: perfect choice! Location is perfect for walking to pier, riding to venice beach, lying by ocean, or walking to 3rd street (10 min). We went to great pains to try and book the best hotel to stay in on Santa Monica beach because we were only there for one night and Casa Del Mar fitted the bill perfectly. From check-in we felt special and this continued until we left the next morning. We stayed in an Ocean View room, it was a partial view, but looking at the reviews, we had expected […] that and it was still worth paying the extra. The room was light and airy and the bed wonderfully soft, if incredibly high (anyone who's read the Princess and the Pea will get what I mean!) The bathroom was lovely and the shower one of the nicest I've ever experienced, strong with a great shower head. The bath looked great but we're more invigorating shower types after travelling for 15 hours! We had a drink in the bar which has a wonderful vibe to it, and had we been there for a couple more nights, I'm sure we would have enjoyed just sitting and watching the world go by. Our jet-lag meant that we were up nice and early the next morning and the staff remembered our names every time we went in and out of the hotel (a very nice touch that they don't even do at the Four Seasons). Being able to watch the sun come up (and go down the night before) steps from our hotel on Santa Monica beach is pretty special. My only comment is that the room was pretty compact and if you were going to spend much time in the room, you may want to upgrade to a larger room, although nothing's cheap there it would probably be worth it. I had to buy the internet for work and think that $12.00 is pretty reasonable although the phone coverage in the room was very hit and miss! We didn't partake of the pool but yes, it is small as other reviews have noted, but if you get to use Shutters as well, and have the Pacific Ocean laid out in front of you, you have plenty of choice. All in all, this hotel provided us with exactly the experience we were looking for and I would highly recommend it. Read more

老舗ホテルともいえるでしょう、最高のロケーションのホテルの一つだと思います。 サンタモニカの砂浜の上に立つこのホテルからのsun set＋翌朝の rising sun は宿泊者の脳裏に一生刻まれるであろう景色です。 ホテル詳細となると、金額だけあり、豪華絢爛ではありますが、ところどころ奥ゆかしさというか古さも見られます。あと、比較的ocean view の部屋が少ないので、目の前が海の部屋希望の方はきちんと確認しておいたほうがよいと思います。 LAXまでタクシーで１５分前後と、距離的にも問題ありません。 旅の最終日に過ごすのにbest なホテルだと思います。
