It was a delightful stay. I stayed for 1 night and then went to Bantry from Cork. Stayed in Bantry but decided to return to Cork to stay here in this hotel the Waldron for the next 2 nights. Great stay. Friendly, funny and not in your face to try and give you a fake front as if it were their job and not their personalities.Parking is an issue in a way […] as its limited. No Internet in the privacy of your own room as its only in the Lobby and the Lounge along with meeting rooms. Other than the small things, I will return again. Overall it was a very comfortable place to stay and I can't say enough good things about the staff, particularly Mary and Dennis at the front desk! They were so very helpful and pleasant. If we return to Cork, we would most definitely stay here again.

The staff that checked us in were mostly friendly. They made sure to point out that because of the rate that was booked on line, that it did not include breakfast and that there would be an extra charge. We went down one morning and the lady asked for our room number and told us to go in. I assumed that the payment would be due at the end of the meal […] before we left. A lady came in and spoke with the girl and then came straight over to the table and informed us that we must pay for the meal and asked how we intended on doing that. We paid with the card at the reception desk. The next morning I went to the reception desk to pay first and they told me to go ahead and enter and they would take the money inside. They were a lot nicer the second day. I booked here to use the swimming pool, but I didn't get the chance. However, you must wear a swim cap while in the pool. This was also one of the factors that turned me away from the pool. I am not sure if the desk that you check in at gives you the caps or not. On one of the nights when we returned from an evening out, the entry doors were locked and we had to ring the bell. There was a guy standing in the entry way between the 2 entry doors smoking inside the facility. I assume he was a customer that didn't want to step out in the cold. The staff was very quick to get to the door and let us in, yet nothing was said to the man who was smoking inside. However, the food was good and so was most of the service. Read more

I have never had a worse hotel experience than at this hotel. The first room we checked into had a broken window and we were kindly switched to a 2nd room. The 2nd room had curtains that wouldn't shut as they were broken and several lights that were out but we didn't complain. However, when a loud alarm went off early in the evening we asked to have […] it looked into. It stopped but then woke us twice after midnight. We were told the alarm would continue every time someone on our floor flushed the toilet and there was nothing that could be done until the morning. They were able to switch us to a 3rd room which was a smoking room and next to a very loud couple who clearly were smoking and the smell leaked into our new room. The new room also had 2 twin beds which, considering we were on honeymoon wasn't appreciated. Finally, the 2nd day we were put in a 4th and final room which was clearly an upgrade however the toilet didn't flush properly. The day manager did offer us a small refund for the inconvenience the 1st evening however we couldn't wait to get out of the hotel. I don't recommend this to anyone, for the money we paid and the reputation of the Maldron, we expected a higher standard. Read more

This hotel was great for the price. It was a quick walk to the city center. Parking was a little tricky, as the lot is very small and street parking can be hard to come by. The rooms were clean and nice.

Our trip to Ireland was fantastic...except for our 2 days in Cork. The hotel room was dingy, there was no fan available until the second day, and the bathroom was just icky. There was plywood under the sink and behind the toilet. The paint was peeling on the ceiling, and the window would not actually open more than a few inches. stayed for 3 nights on a short break to Cork. Room was spacious and clean and all the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful and wiling to go the extra mile. Had a terrific meal in bar when we arrived, slow cooked roast rump beef which I would highly reccomend, cant comment on breakfast as we didnt have it. There was refurbishment work being […] carried out but it didnt detract from our stay in any way. Its very central and 5-10 minutes walk into the centre of cork and a couple of minutes from st Anns church where its fun to ring the bells,and the Butter museum which we enjoyed visiting. very pleasant hotel and friendly stafff. The room was comfortable but needed finishing off as in bit more grouting int he bathroom etc only small jobs. There were no signs from the rooms to the spa etc we had to go through corridors and up/down stairs to find the spa from our room. First appearances were good but after that it all went a bit downhill. It started with the car park which was really a loading bay round the back of the hotel trying to get into the last space was crazy needing 3 people to guide me in. ( I drive 35k a year) were talking millimetre clearances. The room we were given was on the top floor and the window […] didn't shut properly so the wind howled round in the night. There were lights off and the shower controls were broken. We also had a group of kids that seemed to be unsupervised running around the hotel until 2 am Downstairs in the hotel wad better. It has been tidied up and the bar and restaurant were fine. Food was nice and staff were friendly. The location of the hotel is ideal for the city centre and it would be perfect for those without a car if you get a better room than we did. Read more

Rooms are in need of a refurb,clean enough. Windows are in bad need of repair as I had changed rooms twice that eve. Food was burnt(steak) and I thought the hotel was overpriced,I wouldn't recommend it or stay there again...staff were friendly though.

Overall, we're happy with our stay at this hotel. The location is central and very easy to walk to the city center/sites from. The room and amenities (pool, jacuzzi, etc.) were clean and the restaurant/bar was nice also. The front desk staff were not as friendly or helpful as staff were at most of our other Irish hotels. We were especially irritated […] by the fact that one staff member told us how to get out of the parking garage, and when that didn't work we had to go back in and ask for help and the person at the desk at that time acted as if we were idiots for trying to exit the garage the way the prior member of staff had explained. This left a sour taste in our mouth, and unfortunately as a service firm the hotel needs to ensure its staff are helpful, friendly and note condescending. The location was perfect and specially then you are the tourist and dont know the city. Hotel was nice, everybody polite just one thing about cleaning the room. Nobody cleaned the room so we had to ring to reception that someone could do that. But apart that we enjoyed staying in Maldron Hotel and had the best time in Cork.

Stayed here in Feb 2013 for 3 nights. Very pleased with this hotel, staff were friendly and helpful, room very clean, and breakfast excellent. Main shopping district and bars were only a 3 minute walk away. Would recommend this for anyone wanting a comfortable, clean hotel near the city centre.

Several of us booked rooms here for a few nights whilst in Cork for a wedding and had a great stay. Initially we were just looking for a relatively cheap bed to sleep in but this hotel provided much more. When rain scuppered our sight-seeing plans one afternoon, we ended up making full use of the gym, pool, sauna and jacuzzi facilities which were great, […] and also made use of the hotel bar in the evenings on a couple of occasions and used it's free wifi access to plan our days. Originally we booked our room only, intending to pop into Cork itself for breakfast, but discovered on the first day that Cork doesn't really do "fry up" style cafes that we could see, so went for the hotels breakfast instead which was very nice. Rooms were clean, comfortable and well maintained and staff were polite and helpful. Location ideal for the centre of Cork, but also near a few good pubs and bars that sit north of the river along Popes Quay. Read more

We had a very comfortable stay, lovely comfy bed, room lovely and warm. We had barfood on our first night and it was fab and on second night the restaurant early bird menu didnt let us down either. Great location for shopping as its only a ten minute walk from Patrick St. You dont have to worry about parking.

In the main we had an enjoyable stay . The staff are friendly and helpful. The decor in the rooms could do with a makeover. The major gripe is the parking or lack of it.This is an unexpected extra cost. Other hotels in the area cater for this much better.
