Holiday Isle Oceanfront Resort on St Augustine Beach - St. Augustine (and vicinity)

So sorry to say but what was advertised was truly the opposite. The pool was filthy. The tiki bar was closed and needed painting. Beach chairs were not supplied as told on phone. You had to rent them. Never again. Had to leave and find another place which turned into a big mess. My get together was so totally ruined

Hotel needs to have carpet replaced with tile. Tub faucet dripped and complained to hotel manager who did adjust my check so I have to say kudos to him. Would not stay there again for the price.

I staid here with my girlfriend for one night and the stay was extremely uncomfortable. We booked a non-smoking room, however the room had a very strong odor of smoke. The toilet had dried blood stains all over the seat. Apparently, there was a wedding and from about 2AM to 4AM they decided to party in the hall. This was very loud and obnoxious. First off hotel very dated and dirty. I called right away for the televison was going out and I needed it fixed. Nobody ever showed up nor called. Felt like bed had sand in it and not mine. Very old flimsy bedding.

My stay was OK. Hotel was noisy but otherwise OK. Nothing special. Attended banquet event and had kareoke in the next room (bar) that was very loud and overwhelmed being able to hear our speaker.

The bare minimum. Hotel needs an update. There is a reason rooms were available so late in the season. But all in all, I would stay there again. The worst water pressure ever.

The staff was very good. Per other reviews the facility is a bit older, but is clean. We had a pet friendly room and had to change for allergies in the family. They gave us one with tile instead of carpet and were great. Overall good rating and would stay here again.

There was a piece of gum stuck to my comforter. I was in the gym working out watching tv and two maintenance guys came in and told me they needed a remote. They didn't take it from me but proceeded to walk by every 5 minutes and make me feel guilty for using it. Breakfast was bad and it took the understaffed wait people forever to do anything. While the hotel itself could use some updating to the rooms, our stay was wonderful! The description of "no view" consisted of a fabulous view of the Atlantic from our balcony (all rooms have a view of the water if not water front). If you smoke don't expect to be able to smoke on a balcony. They will not tell you til you check in and they will make you sign a doc that says if you get caught smoking you will pay a $299 fine. I love how they take your money and wait to give you bad news when you check in.

The walls are not very sound proof but other than that everything was great. You can't beat the price on the beach, it's close to everything you want to be by at the beach, the staff is very friendly and wiling to help in any way, and everything wasn't the nicest or fanciest but what they did have was clean.

The hotel pictures are pretty deceiving in that its not a luxurious resort - its more like a family owned older, no-frills beach hotel. Its undergoing room renovations so make sure to ask for one with the new tile and NO CARPETING!!! We were given an older one first and literally gagged at the stench of dog pee mixed with 30 year old human body odor. […] But, once we moved to a newer room we had a good time. Their internet is super fast, the pool and beach access is awesome and it was very quiet (granted, we were off season). My family and I spent a long weekend. Our room was on the 5th floor with an ocean view and it was breathtaking. That was definitely a plus. The room itself was small and kind of cramped. On Sunday I was woken up about every 15 minutes starting at 5am by the ice machine. On Sunday night we set the a/c unit to run on constant fan and that drowned out any noise on Monday morning and I slept like a champ! The staff at the hotel was AMAZING! I could not speak highly enough of them. I did not encounter one person who was not helpful or kind. Everyone I encountered or dealt with on the phone before we checked-in was extremely helpful and kind. The hotel is very dated but I guess that comes with the territory of a modestly priced hotel on the beach. Oh, and the "restaurant" was a joke. They really need to think about adding some real items to their dinner menu. Unknowingly we went there for dinner and the first night and was presented with a menu that consisted only of sandwiches. Don't waste your time eating there. Lastly, the hotel is extremely inconvenient. It's not near any restaurants or attractions. You have to drive a bit down A1A to get to a decent place to eat and the attractions are at least 15 or so minutes away. Will we stay there again? Probably not. Read more
