Stay was good however there were charges for everything guest fees even though I used a free night from hotels.com I got another $60 charge from the hotel. Plus $25 Parking, $30 courtesy fee., etc. Free night was not free ;(

"Going Downhill Fast"
This property is at best a 2.5 star. Stay away--it's going downhill fast. Front desk staff were nice, but most other staff we encountered had very little training. Elevators look in terrible disrepair and have plywood walls and blue masking tape that scream "Depression flop house." Found a dirty band-aid on the floor of first room, but we moved because the AC/Heating unit was not working properly and making excessive noise and the utility door fell off when we touched it (the unit was filled with dust and apparently hadn't been inspected for over a year). It was also placed right next to one of the beds. We were shocked to see that same configuration in the second room, but didn't want to look behind the door. That unit, too, made excessive noise. More problems at the restaurant during Sunday breakfast--it was a comedy of errors. At check-out we were comp'd the $30 per night "parking" fee which added up to $60, but I'd rather have paid the full ride and had a real 4-star experience.

"Cool convenient location and friendly staff!"
Very friendly customer service from the front desk, at check in with Tania and then again at check out with Shawn! The room was clean and well appointed in this classic old, yet well maintained hotel! Nice on site restaurant and there was live jazz upon our arrival (too bad our schedule didn't allow for us to partake!) The hotel is located a few blocks from San Pedro Square and Market, with lots of dining and entertainment options within a three minute walk! Parking options are limited, but we found a free spot across the street YAY! (Hate paying for parking, valet or otherwise!) One downside that takes some getting used to, can be unnerving, is being directly in the SJI airport flight path- YIKES!

"Great service but hotel needs updating."
The hotel is cute but very outdated. The rate is comparable to the Marriott which is updated. We were there for a party otherwise I would've stayed somewhere else. I will say that the staff was very friendly. The pantry was a bust. I expected more.

Came for a business stay. One night, apparently it was a booked weekend as the room was approx 400$. Staff was courteous and the had free fruit and cookies. The pantry was terrible, room was small and definitely not luxurious. Pretty standard. Would probably not stay again unless it was at a deep discount.

"Facilities and benefits"
Air condition was so old and noisy that we had to switch it off during the night. Being also cold that night it was not fun. The rooms are small for two people the advertised snack availability during the night is a joke, we were jet lagged and we were counting on it For that kind of money I would rather chose a larger better served accommodation To have to pay $5 for the use of the PC in the lobby is ridiculous these days at that rate

"The little things are gone."
Since the hotel was bought out in June of 2014 since then many changes and the staff will tell you. The new owners have many many changes one that stays annually can tell. Things that I felt paying the extra to have the great San Jose hotel experience vs the corporate atmosphere experience are gone. Such as the pantry on the 2nd floor is now just milk, pre made sandwiches, and coffee and tea. Were this used to be cold cuts and cookies and cereal and fruit. Also no chocolate on the pillow, there was also no fresh fruit on ever floor. Only at the front desk and the only place to get the amazing De Anza cookies are the front desk. They were out every time I went. The mini bar's in room are also now gone. I could have paid this amount of money for the corporate experience but I go to the De Anza for the San Jose experience and it has been lost at this point. I am not sure I will stay again. I can pay less stay down the street and get coffee in my room and a room just as nice.

Very nice. The staff are very accommodating and friendly, willing to help. How I wish we don't have to pay for the parking. The parking is so convenient it's in front of the hotel. The overall I operational system is with no confusion and organized.

Hotel was great! Perfect location downtown, amazing lounge. Room was comfortable large corner room. A little too much air freshener, needed to keep the windows open for a few hours. I will be staying again on my next trip to San Jose.

"Nice place close to the SAP Center"
Nice place to stay if you're going the Arena. Walking distance to all downtown attractions. Its not a very quiet place though. Quite a bit of road noise and garbage trucks at 5:30 am. Over $325 a night is a bit much for what you get.

"Our Stay"

"Noisy"
We stayed at the De Anza (one Saturday night) because of it's close proximity to SAP Center.The first room we were given had not been cleaned yet, bed unmade, etc. So, we went back downstairs and were given an "upgrade", a corner room on a higher floor. The main problem was the heating/cooling unit. It was very loud as was the mini-fridge. Both were making so much noise it was difficult to get a good night's sleep. Not to mention the street noise, sirens, etc. and the jet noise because the airport is nearby, obviously not the hotel's fault but still quite a distraction. Also, a minor disappointment was the "Food Pantry" on the 2nd floor. It was supposed to provide guests with sandwiches, cookies, fruit and other snacks for after concerts, hockey games, etc. open from 10pm to 6am! Unfortunately, after arriving back from a Sharks game at 10:30, we found that they had forgot to stock the pantry and there were a bunch of guests hanging around complaining about no cold cuts or cookies.

"loved the decor and location!"
great overnight getaway! Went to a show at SAP (a very short walk from hotel), enjoyed the jazzy performers in the beautiful hotel bar (that ceiling!!!), walked to a variety of delicious restaurants and San Pedro Market. The front desk staff was very nice, hospitable and helpful.

"Closeness Counts"
This was the perfect choice! We were able to make the short walk to the hockey game. There was no worrying about parking at the event. The hotel parking is tricky. There really is no warning about needing to have your car valet parked. I know that the valet price is less expensive than the other hotels; but at the DeAnza, you really don't have another option and there should be some kind of compensation for that.

Overall, it was a really nice experience, however, I think the tubs need to be redone. My husband fell while getting out of the tub because it is raised and you can underestimate how far down the floor is. There is a sign warning you, but I still think the tub should be even with the floor

"Weekend get-a-way"
I was so excited about returning to CA and staying at the Hotel De Anza. Overall the accommodations were fine but the few issues I had were..."raid the pantry" I had heard this was a great late night snack option but when we went it was quite disappointing. Make your own sandwich and fruit was it. Then there was the no ice on any floor, had to call room service, no hdtv available that weekend and the maid cart stayed outside our room for the entire two days. I specifically told them we did not need service but they kept the cart placed right there and we had to move it to get out of our room.

There were a few issues that the staff seemed to care little about - dead bolt on door would not lock; handle on toilet needed to be jiggled to stop it from running; hair dryer did not work. Due to there being 10,000+ people in town to see Oprah, there were not many options to change rooms.

"Old world charm in a trendy place."
Perfectly situated between Carmel and San Fran in downtown San Jose. Very positive experience. Downtown San Jose is very trendy and there are pubs, bistros, pizza parlors, all manner of eateries, and awesome coffee shops. Staff was very friendly and attentive. It took less than an hour to drive to SF and we wandered all around the down town. The rooms were clean and my wife loved the size of the bathrooms. All positive. Highly recommend.

"Disappointing Valet"
This hotel is in a great location. Walking distance to restaurants, brew pubs, nightlife, family's loft, etc. The rooms were tiny, very cramped when traveling with an infant, however, overall, they were clean. The shower was powerful like the one from "Club Paradise". The grout in the tub could use some bleach too since it had black mold! To our surprise there was a TV and a phone in the bathroom and no coffee machine! None of the ice machines on our floor or the "pantry" floor were functioning either. What upset us the most about this hotel was the valet staff's attitude and work ethic. They might as well been called the gatekeeper of the keys, since they DO NOT pull your car out or park it for you. This was very frustrating since traveling with a baby, my wife and I had our hands full with our daughter, her stroller and toys. THEY EXPECTED TO BE TIPPED FOR SIMPLY HANDING YOU YOUR CAR KEYS WHILE YOU DO THEIR JOB FOR THEM!

I was on business for a few day in San Jose. Hotel staff was excellent, rooms are spacious, and location is idea for downtown business or sightseeing. Excellent hotel restaurant and afternoon features a free snack area with sandwiches, fruit, and drinks. Live jazz entertainment in there hotel bar area at night which was excellent. "Not what I expected"
The room was extremely worn out (furniture, carpeting, and fixtures in bathroom) and extremely small. I think I read someone say that the hotel has 'character'? Bad character maybe. The hotel is unique.It has pantry that opens at 10:00 pm till the wee hours in the morning.Great for the late nite munchies.Did I mention free of charge.The room we were in was a mini suite.really nice and very quiet.Great staff,Excellent staff.Only thing I would do is make gym bigger.But very happy they have one.Can't wait to go back.

We were going to concert which is in walking distance from the hotel! Friendly staff, from valet parking our car, to front desk check in! We enjoyed our stay immensely ! Clean rooms, had a little problem getting our thermostat to cool our room off, called and they sent maintenance right up and he fixed the problem! Would definitely plan to stay there again!
