"Great Hotel - Horrible Internet"
My stay was fantastic. Great hotel staff. The room was very nice and comfortable. The biggest problem, as a business traveler at a hotel in the Silicon Valley, was the internet either didn't work or was very slow. The first night the internet was completely down - even at the front desk. When it came back it didn't work on wifi and only intermittently […] on a wire. When it did work on wifi it was slow. I would stay here again and cross my fingers that the wifi works right. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"DeAnza and HP Pavilion"
I have never stayed at this hotel. It was a pleasant surprise, even though the room was small. The room was clean and comfortable. We had a room facing the main street. I am surprised to say that the traffic noise was not too bad. Valet parking is a must. But not too outrageously expensive. I totally enjoyed the "raid our pantry" where you can find […] sandwiches and snacks between 10pm and 5am. Good for a traveler who lands in the area late. The location suited us well, as we WALKED to the HP Pavilion and back, saving us lots of time and money for parking. Did not try the restaurant, but the menu looked great and the aroma from the restaurant was very enticing. I will stay here again. PS-Historical building. Nicely renovated in the 1990s. "It was decent"
We stayed at this hotel because it was about a half mile between the California Theater and the HP Pavilion so my wife and I were able to walk to the both in less than 15 minutes. We were there for a UFC event and many fighters actually stayed at our hotel which was pretty cool. The rooms were clean and they have a FREE snack room that's open for about […] 5 hours in the middle of the night. Perfect for those of you who stay out late and return with the munchies. They also have a really nice bar in the hotel. The staff was decent but not overly special. Don't stay at this hotel if you depend on WiFi. It is nearly non-existent. They were reluctant to accommodate me for the false advertising about "free WiFi" but one gentleman, at the counter, said he wouldn't charge me a parking fee for the day since I wasn't going to pick up my car until later in the evening after checking out. That was much appreciated. I would stay here again if they fixed their wifi and dropped their rates a tad. It was decent but certainly not worth what I paid. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not Worthy of 'Price & Reputation' of Hotel"
Now that hockey season has started, the rooms are about double the price of 'off-peak' prices. The location relative to the HP Pavillion is great - about a 5-10 mintue walk. A nice feature is the 'Raid the Pantry' - late night snack offering. This a room where you can make your own sandwiches and/or desserts (plus coffee/tea/hot cocoa). It's available […] between 10PM - 5AM. The rooms are small, but nice. The bathrooms are somewhat dated - imagine the 1970's. The free wi-fi was horrible. None of my Apple devices would work, and the toll-free cutomer support was worthless. The night manager actually switched me to another room (at 11PM), where the wi-fi would work - which I was actually poaching the wi-fi fomr the restaurant next door. Would I go back, yes. But then, all of downtown San Jose is overpriced at this time of year. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pretty, clean hotel close to HP pavilion."
This was our second stay at the hotel. We chose it because of its close proximity to the HP Pavilion. It's a very easy walk to see a hockey game. There is a great lounge, Club Hedley, on the first floor. The hotel is older but well maintained and a friendly staff. The room we had was a bit small. I think we had a larger room last time?? When we got […] back to the hotel from the game, the club had stopped serving food and room service ended at 10. We were hungry so we thought we'd try the 'pantry'. It seemed a little picked over and not really what we wanted so we skipped it. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice Hotel, But Needs Updating"
This is a nice place, but definitely not 4 stars in my book. The room doors open/close loudly and are close together, the lights in the bathroom flickered and pinged continually, the electrical outlets were not located conveniently, and the workout facility was a complete afterthought (read: 1 bike, 1 stair, 1 universal weight, no windows, and no fan […] - and no trashcan for some reason so I had to leave the room to throw out the wipes I used to clean the machines). The really funny thing was the room manual that spent several pages covering how to work the alarm clock and DVD player and proclaimed on the first page how guests had VHS players in every room as well as access to facsimile machines and the ability to set up their own "electronic mailbox" (quotes were literally used). I'm guessing the manual hasn't really been updated since the advent of cell phones. Just kind of funny considering it's located in the biggest tech hub in the country. The staff was friendly helpful, and the valet guys were really nice. I had to sign a bunch of extra forms which I've never done in the hotel before (for the room itself and to get a key to the workout facility). Great location to a variety of restaurants, as well as the rink where the Sharks play but not central to a lot of the tech companies in the area. If you want to spend time enjoying downtown San Jose for pleasure, this hotel is probably great. If you're in the area for business, you might want to look elsewhere. Valet takes awhile... Even with a pre-call. Funky bathroom with a late 90's remodel, and a death-step while coming out of the shower. No ironing board. Cool architecture, but it's lost in pergatory somewhere between vintage and timeless.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Best bang for your buck right next to downtown"
I love the Deanza this is the second time We have stayed there. A four-star hotel without the snootiness of uppity staff Valet parking is a cheap $20 They have a DVD catalog were you can rent DVDs for free "raid our pantry" After 10pm your room key works on the second floor "pantry" where they lay out a nice spread. In short, get free food! Cookies […] sandwiches fruit etc Also wifi is free, which its crazy but I have stayed in quite a few 4 Star hotels lately that charge for wifi. Nice beds, good furnishings, great shower, big bathroom, even a tv in the bathroom! The ice maker in the hall also does filtered water and they give you a carafe for that too! Close to great eats, sharks arena, bars, light rail etc I would highly recommend this place and its right off the hwy!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to HP Pavilion"
Beautiful hotel, room was a little small but very clean and had lots of nice amenities in the room. No coffee maker in the room but we ordered small pot from room service for $6 and it was delivered promptly. Would definately stay there again next time I go to a concert at HP Pavilion. Close enough to walk but as I was wearing heels we were going to […] take a cab but there were lots of bicycle cabs and took one of those instead. So much fun! We always stay at the DeAnza when we come into town for a Sharks game. The location is perfect as it is within walking distance to HP Pavilion and several restaurants and bars in downtown San Jose. "A Nice Boutique Hotel - for the price"
Was in town for business and picked this one over others in the area. For the price, most was offered. Others charged a fee for Internet, or more for valet parking. This hotel has a 'Raid the Pantry' offering - an area with food / drinks late at night. I've not heard of this at any other hotel. Nice for a post-dinner snack. On the flip side, the bathrooms […] are old - not many spots to lay out your toiletries. Also, no coffee makers in the room. You basically go down to the restaurant and ask for a complimentary cup of coffee. Convenient location to go to HP Pavilion. Now with the NHL lockout over, I fear that the prices will rise dramatically. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great Location & Unexpected Delight"
This is in a prime downtown San Jose location and has a great Jazz lounge in the bottom floor on Friday nights. Stayed here overnight just to get away for a bit. Walking distance to San Pedro square and great dining/entertainment. Only drawback is no room service after hours but they have a snack lounge inclusive of room price.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Its ok, but nothing great about it"
The overall experience was good, but had a few complaints. The elevator had a strange smell, like it needed a new carpet. I did not appreciate the parking situation. The $20 valet per night is pretty high. It would be better if they included this in the hotel cost at booking. They have HBO and basic cable. The gym was always empty, so that was nice, […] even though its really small. The internet wifi is free. I had to go to the convention center, which is a 1/2 mile. if you need to go there, stay at the hilton. its right at the convention center. Luckily, Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

small room but it had everything. raid the pantry was a nice feature. i'd stay there again for a business tripGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Be aware that this hotel is located near the San Jose Airport, so overflights are frequent and loud. My room was on the second floor over the hotel entrance and the noise level was significant, including street noise and garbage trucks emptying dumpsters in the neighborhood. Consideration should be given to dual-paning the windows or providing some […] other kind of noise barrier in low level rooms. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"worth it and would stay again!"
My friend and I went to a concert at hp pavillion, which was only a 5 to 7 minute walk. Lovely room, bathroom was stunning. Room service was quick and loved the all-night pantry. We only stayed one night. It was a bit of a splurge for us, but loved it and it was worth every single penny. I would stayagain.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pricy but quality"
The only reason I stayed here was it was walking distance from a conference I was attending. As with so much else in Silicon Valley, it is grossly overpriced for what it is.It is a nice hotel. Clean, with competent staff, comfortable beds, OK Internet, OK bathroom, and so-so dining and lounge. The staff were very friendly, and the barman at the lounge […] supremely competent. The room was a bit on the small side, the bathroom oddly laid out, and the desk not very comfortable to work at. You can walk to San Pedro square from here for some decent nightlife. All in all, what you expect in San Jose: too much $ for an OK time. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"BE AWARE OF NIGHT TIME VISITORS"
I booked this room for my parents for their anniversary while they were visiting friends in San Jose. Everything was fine until 2:00 in the morning when a strange entered their bedroom and uttered "Oops my bad..." and closed the door. How did someone just busted in a room like that? Was it a cleaner or a complete strange who had their key? When they […] informed the hotel that someone came busting in their room the front desk was very unapologetic and just stated "the cleaning crew probably thought the room was empty." All in all the hotel was great but make sure you lock the top part of the deadbolt so the "cleaning crew" won't bust in on you at 2:00 AM. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"have to pay for parking"
Very nice hotel. Room service closes at 10pm, but they do have a raid the pantry feature, where you can make a sandwich, although I didn't recall any dunks available. Also, you have to pay for parking, $20.00 at the hotel, our take a chance in the $8.00 over night lot down the street, across the street from some local bars. Other then that it was a […] good hotel. "Overall it was a good stay, with small caveats."
Stayed for 4 nights. Upon checking in at 12:30pm, no room was available even though I've asked for earlier check-in. However the staff members were happy to look after my bags. The room for the most part was clean. There were watermarks on the mirror, and candies left on the carpet. For some reason, the pillows were all put aside on the chair except […] 3 of them. The TV reception was iffy, as channels can go in and out throughout the night (all 4 nights had great weather). Mini-bar costs money, though access is not. Purified water/ice was a quick walk on the same level. Plenty of shampoo/conditioners to last for days. One small complaint: not enough power outlets. There were two open ones by the desk, and two non-working ones. Other than that, I can't find any along the walls - hence I had to plug in my computer, cell phone and iron all by the computer desk. "Great Hotel...would stay here again."
I was pretty pleased with this hotel...within walking distance to the HP Pavilion and San Pedro street with lots of bars. We arrived in San Jose pretty early on a Saturday morning and when we asked for early check-in, the front desk said to come back at 11am and they would try and accommodate us. We came back and we got a room! Rooms are pretty cozy. […] There was a comment about the bathtub being raised but I didn't think that was that big of a deal...there is a obvious warning sign. There's also a mini tv in the bathroom. Agreed with most of the comments re: Raid the Pantry. On the second floor, from 10PM-5AM, the hotel offers a bunch of snacks: fruit and meat for sandwiches and coffee. I wish there were more items like chips or pretzels or pizzas other type of junk food you would crave at 10PM. Overall, really liked this hotel. Would def stay here again! "Awesome location to the HP Pavillon"
Went to a concert at the Sharks arena and this hotel was so close and a short walk away. The "raid the pantry" was awesome since most things were closed around the area to get some food - however it is the size of a pantry (kind of small) and hot in there. A couple more options would have been nice, but it was a good snack and FREE!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Everything was very nice, the bed was comfortable but, not as comfortable as one of sheritons heavenly beds. Frankly we are very spoiled regarding beds because we have a 3,500 dollar gel bed.
