"The best Location for a Sharks Game"
Best place to stay if going to a sharks game. If i was not going to a game i would rather stay somewhere else but for the game there is nothing betterGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"It's in the details"
I enjoyed my stay here. Good location with good places to eat nearby, helpful and friendly staff, clean rooms. The hotel stands out to me, though, because of certain little things that they do. The all-night snack table, 24-hour fitness room, turn-down service, valet parking, takes everything good about the hotel, which are things which any hotel can […] do, and sets it a little bit higher. You might pay a bit more for the room than in other places, but in my opinion it's worth it. I'd stay here again. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Great location, however I originally booked the corner king suite. Upon check in, my room was not ready and instead of notifying me of this they placed me in a standard room instead. The issue is the corner king suite is twice the standard rate. When I notified them of the error it seemed as though they tried to pass it off as a clerical error and I […] had to wait while they cleaned the actual room that I booked. I see this hotel every day on my way home and always assumed it was a dump because of the old fashioned look it has. I read many good reviews about it, on this site and on others, so decided to give it a chance. I was pleasantly surprised. The inside of the hotel is very well maintained and had a new and clean appearance. The service is great. The staff […] was warm and very helpful; responding quickly to all requests. Amenities included turndown service, tv in the bathroom, VERY CLEAN bathrooms with an illuminated/magnified mirror attached to the wall, iron/board/hairdryer, DVD player, breakfast/lunch/dinner room service, valet parking (extra fee), blankets, and many more. There's also a pantry you can raid on the 2nd floor for free from 10pm-5am if you're up for the mission. It had sandwich supplies, fruit, cookies, and hot beverages the night I stayed there. Located one block from San Pedro square in the heart of San Jose City. Plenty of restaurants, cafes, clubs, ect. nearby. I had a great stay here. Thank you Hotels.com for the great rate on such short notice!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
This is a great place to stay when going to a San Jose Sharks game. The pantry open after the game for snacks was well stocked. We enjoyed the Sunday breakfast buffet and an evening at the Hedley club.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Too Bad. Nice Hotel Horrible Service and amenities"
The Hotel is well located near everything. The rooms are clean and good size. The A/C is terribly loud and when I asked for another room they said (and not in a nice tone) all the rooms have loud AC's. I stayed three nights and had two sleepless nights due to the extremely loud AC when I notified the front desk they were cold and insensitive offering […] nothing to help alleviate my frustration. It was as though they did not care a less. On night three I requested a floor fan so I could leave the AC off and get some sleep. When I checked out I again voiced my issue and again I was offered nothing to make up for the worst Hotel stay in my life. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very nice hotel"
I travel a lot in the U.S. and around the world. This was truly a 4 star hotel as advertised. I would stay here again - the deal on Expedia was fair.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Do you like hotel staff to snap at you?"
If you do then please stay at the old and run down Hotel De Anza. Can someone with customer experience management come and help this hotel. I can't remember the last time I had such an unpleasant experience with the hotel front desk staff. Hotel De Anza is not a friendly and accommodating place. And the room service food is inedible. Desk person I believe his name was shawn, was excellent, the room was clean and maintained I do however believe that your parking rates are way too high. Overall I enjoyed my stay at your hotel. Room prices are reasonable for a 5 star hotelGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"3.5 stars not 4 stars"
3.5 stars is more accurate for this hotel. Location is very convenient. It has a nice music/bar hall with live Jazz at night during our stay, which is relaxing to winding down at end of day.Genuine Expedia guest review
Wonderful historic hotel. Very clean and quiet.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Their employees at the front desk were not friendly. Not even a smile. Not even a greeting. Just straight to check-in/check-out. The bellman up front were definitely the nicest employees we encountered.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Would love to stay here again"
We would stay here again. The room was very clean, which is the most important thing to me. We stayed in the corner king room, and loved it. Great location, staff was very friendly and helpful, loved the raid the pantry. We went to our cousin's birthday party in one of the hotel's ballrooms and it was such a great party. "If you don't have a car, stay here!"
I am a business traveler who had a major project over the weekend at a local office. I had a car and needed a nice place to stay with quick in/out. I didn't realize that it was valet parking only (no street parking available anywhere) for extra charges per night, and then you feel compelled to tip. Temp controls in the room left a bit to be desired, […] but it was clean and mostly comfortable. The mattress was a bit hard though. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Close to the HP Pavilion, But disappointing."
I booked the "Deluxe King" room and when I arrived to my room it was half the size of a Motel 6 room, the bathroom grout had black slimy mold, my TV was fuzzy, and bed was hard as a rock.Genuine Expedia guest review
Had a great stay! Stayed just one night after a concert at the SAP Center. We sooo appreciated the Raid Our Pantry for a midnight snack after dancing the night away at the concert.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
big bathroom, liked the tv in there, turned down bed at night, very cool, want to stay again on the weekend of the san jose jazz fest, but all booked. was very nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent classic hotel in the heart of San Jose"
This hotel was a surprise. Gorgeous, super comfortable, great service. Definitely recommend to people who prefer not to stay in the larger chain hotels. Will absolutely stay there again!!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It was very convenient, walking distance to a lot of places downtown, especially the HP pavilion. After coming back from a concert it's nice to know you can "raid the pantry" from 10pm-5am. Great place to stay. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.Genuine Expedia guest review
It was located walking distance from HP pavilion and had from restaurants and bars. The service was very good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Never, never go there"
Just don't go there unless you want to hear loud music and trash conversation of drunken peoples during entire night.Genuine Expedia guest review
Stayed here to attend a concert at the Pavilion... It was a nice hotel but the rooms were very small..... I say so so hotel.... Except for that there is no parking for the guest when you arrive and when you stay over night... You pull up to the hotel and they give you a ticket and inform you that your car will be moved a few blocks away call if you […] need your car... The next morning while I was checking out they informed me there was a $24 charge to have had your car parked... I think it's crazy to charge over $200 for a night and not include parking for your hotel guest especially if this wasn't ever disclosed or because you had no other options but to let them move your car.... I am very positive we won't be staying here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not the top... but OK."
Except for the front desk, the service was fine, nothing special, the amenities were nice, location was the best, smack dab in the middle of everything. We might come back if there's nothing better, we love the location and the bed was just right.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fabulous for a night away"
The Hotel DeAnza is a great historic place to stay. It is in a great location..we even walked to dinner. The lounge/bar area was great and had music which is where we hung out after out dinner. We stayed in a corner room which was a good size for the 2 of us.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not a friendly or comfortable place to stay."
This was a anime weekend and heard the staff making rude comments about the participants when in costume. Valet parking is a joke, brand new car was left on a busy street for 7 hours and the only moved it to the garage after speaking to 3 people and reporting it to expedia. The restaurant staff is rude, server stood over us listening to our conversation […] then commented about what we were talking about, food was overpriced for over complicated and mediocre food. The bar staff seemed homophobic toward me and my partner, we were listening to the jazz band (very good) on a sofa when what appeared to be a bar manager asked me to remove my hand that was lightly resting on my partners knee saying "you are making other guests feel uncomfortable" when we saw no one approach her or call her over for at least 15 minutes. The hotel management just brushed us off. Our room went uncleaned the next day, we left at 8am and returned at 4pm and towels and sheets removed, called the desk 2 times and nothing in an hour, found a housekeeper on another floor, got sheets and towels remade our own room. Heard nothing but excuses but no services. No vending services in entire hotel, got charged $7 for a glass of soda and when we commented said "oh that was a mistake" and refunded us $4. This hotel is poorly maintained, staff is rude and seem to be unfriendly toward LGBT and anyone they deem not befitting to stay at there hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Hotel for anything that happens downtown SJ."
I really liked this hotel. I have been to several hotels before this and these guys gave me the most bang for my buck. The staff if friendly, the room is very clean, and they really do their best when it comes to making sure you have the best stay. For example, I was very clumsy and dropped a dish in the bathroom. I wanted to clean it myself, but couldn't […] find a broom. I soon let the front desk know and went out for the day. When I came back the floor was cleaned and a thank you was left behind. "Perfect location for HP pavilion"
Booked this Specifically due to its location to the HP Pavilion to see the Fleetwood Mac concert. Did not disappoint. Each floor of the hotel has its own filtered water and ice machine. Plus they have an option to read their pantry so from 10 PM to 5 AM you can go get milk and cookies or make yourself a midnight snack or sandwich. Perfect for a pre-and […] post concert stay. "Great Hotel - Horrible Internet"
My stay was fantastic. Great hotel staff. The room was very nice and comfortable. The biggest problem, as a business traveler at a hotel in the Silicon Valley, was the internet either didn't work or was very slow. The first night the internet was completely down - even at the front desk. When it came back it didn't work on wifi and only intermittently […] on a wire. When it did work on wifi it was slow. I would stay here again and cross my fingers that the wifi works right. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"DeAnza and HP Pavilion"
I have never stayed at this hotel. It was a pleasant surprise, even though the room was small. The room was clean and comfortable. We had a room facing the main street. I am surprised to say that the traffic noise was not too bad. Valet parking is a must. But not too outrageously expensive. I totally enjoyed the "raid our pantry" where you can find […] sandwiches and snacks between 10pm and 5am. Good for a traveler who lands in the area late. The location suited us well, as we WALKED to the HP Pavilion and back, saving us lots of time and money for parking. Did not try the restaurant, but the menu looked great and the aroma from the restaurant was very enticing. I will stay here again. PS-Historical building. Nicely renovated in the 1990s. "It was decent"
We stayed at this hotel because it was about a half mile between the California Theater and the HP Pavilion so my wife and I were able to walk to the both in less than 15 minutes. We were there for a UFC event and many fighters actually stayed at our hotel which was pretty cool. The rooms were clean and they have a FREE snack room that's open for about […] 5 hours in the middle of the night. Perfect for those of you who stay out late and return with the munchies. They also have a really nice bar in the hotel. The staff was decent but not overly special. Don't stay at this hotel if you depend on WiFi. It is nearly non-existent. They were reluctant to accommodate me for the false advertising about "free WiFi" but one gentleman, at the counter, said he wouldn't charge me a parking fee for the day since I wasn't going to pick up my car until later in the evening after checking out. That was much appreciated. I would stay here again if they fixed their wifi and dropped their rates a tad. It was decent but certainly not worth what I paid. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not Worthy of 'Price & Reputation' of Hotel"
Now that hockey season has started, the rooms are about double the price of 'off-peak' prices. The location relative to the HP Pavillion is great - about a 5-10 mintue walk. A nice feature is the 'Raid the Pantry' - late night snack offering. This a room where you can make your own sandwiches and/or desserts (plus coffee/tea/hot cocoa). It's available […] between 10PM - 5AM. The rooms are small, but nice. The bathrooms are somewhat dated - imagine the 1970's. The free wi-fi was horrible. None of my Apple devices would work, and the toll-free cutomer support was worthless. The night manager actually switched me to another room (at 11PM), where the wi-fi would work - which I was actually poaching the wi-fi fomr the restaurant next door. Would I go back, yes. But then, all of downtown San Jose is overpriced at this time of year. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pretty, clean hotel close to HP pavilion."
This was our second stay at the hotel. We chose it because of its close proximity to the HP Pavilion. It's a very easy walk to see a hockey game. There is a great lounge, Club Hedley, on the first floor. The hotel is older but well maintained and a friendly staff. The room we had was a bit small. I think we had a larger room last time?? When we got […] back to the hotel from the game, the club had stopped serving food and room service ended at 10. We were hungry so we thought we'd try the 'pantry'. It seemed a little picked over and not really what we wanted so we skipped it. Overall we enjoyed our stay. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Nice Hotel, But Needs Updating"
This is a nice place, but definitely not 4 stars in my book. The room doors open/close loudly and are close together, the lights in the bathroom flickered and pinged continually, the electrical outlets were not located conveniently, and the workout facility was a complete afterthought (read: 1 bike, 1 stair, 1 universal weight, no windows, and no fan […] - and no trashcan for some reason so I had to leave the room to throw out the wipes I used to clean the machines). The really funny thing was the room manual that spent several pages covering how to work the alarm clock and DVD player and proclaimed on the first page how guests had VHS players in every room as well as access to facsimile machines and the ability to set up their own "electronic mailbox" (quotes were literally used). I'm guessing the manual hasn't really been updated since the advent of cell phones. Just kind of funny considering it's located in the biggest tech hub in the country. The staff was friendly helpful, and the valet guys were really nice. I had to sign a bunch of extra forms which I've never done in the hotel before (for the room itself and to get a key to the workout facility). Great location to a variety of restaurants, as well as the rink where the Sharks play but not central to a lot of the tech companies in the area. If you want to spend time enjoying downtown San Jose for pleasure, this hotel is probably great. If you're in the area for business, you might want to look elsewhere. Valet takes awhile... Even with a pre-call. Funky bathroom with a late 90's remodel, and a death-step while coming out of the shower. No ironing board. Cool architecture, but it's lost in pergatory somewhere between vintage and timeless.Genuine Expedia guest review

I love the Deanza this is the second time We have stayed there. A four-star hotel without the snootiness of uppity staff Valet parking is a cheap $20 They have a DVD catalog were you can rent DVDs for free "raid our pantry" After 10pm your room key works on the second floor "pantry" where they lay out a nice spread. In short, get free food! Cookies […] sandwiches fruit etc Also wifi is free, which its crazy but I have stayed in quite a few 4 Star hotels lately that charge for wifi. Nice beds, good furnishings, great shower, big bathroom, even a tv in the bathroom! The ice maker in the hall also does filtered water and they give you a carafe for that too! Close to great eats, sharks arena, bars, light rail etc I would highly recommend this place and its right off the hwy!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Beautiful hotel, room was a little small but very clean and had lots of nice amenities in the room. "A Nice Boutique Hotel - for the price"
Was in town for business and picked this one over others in the area. For the price, most was offered. Others charged a fee for Internet, or more for valet parking. This hotel has a 'Raid the Pantry' offering - an area with food / drinks late at night. I've not heard of this at any other hotel. Nice for a post-dinner snack. On the flip side, the bathrooms […] are old - not many spots to lay out your toiletries. Also, no coffee makers in the room. You basically go down to the restaurant and ask for a complimentary cup of coffee. Convenient location to go to HP Pavilion. Now with the NHL lockout over, I fear that the prices will rise dramatically. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
